Oishi Japanese Sushi & Hibachi Restaurant

I stopped in during lunch for the first time and was pleasantly surprised how good the food here is. I ended up with a lunch special which includes 1 roll, entree, Mizo soup and spring roll. The server was very polite and on top of things and I believe it was the owner that would stop by and make sure I was doing well. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for good Japanese/Chinese food. I wish I would have thought to get more photos

We arrive a couple of minutes before they close and we was almost leaving when one lady ask us if we still wanna enter, then a sir (I think the sir is the owner) take care of us and explain us everything, while we wait he took a picture for us and we the plate arrived was so delicious everything in the plate, and was enough for us, we gonna come back soon because this is a hidden jewel.

Tried Hibachi experience for the first time, we went right after opening and the service is good, they are welcoming and attended us quickly. We used Groupon coupons for Hibachi experience and they explained us well about how it works in advance to avoid any confusion. Coming to the food, we ordered avocado rolls, bang bang shrimp and 4 different types of Hibachi: 1) chicken 2) salmon and chicken 3) scallops and shrimp 4) chicken and shrimp. Bang bang shrimp is our favorite among all, hibachi is good with the chef cooking for us accommodating to our taste buds. He is friendly and gave us a pleasant experience. Prices are fair and it includes 12$ sharing fee per person if we chose to share a hibachi. One point of improvement I can say is the maintenance. I think the restaurant can work on regularly updating the slabs used for cooking for hibachi, to me it felt not so clean. But other that, this is a great experience and definitely recommend to try it.

We visited this restaurant while spending a day in Orlando. We had a group of 15 for hibachi. The owner came over to our table multiple times, he was funny and telling jokes. The food was amazing. We really enjoyed the teriyaki noodles along with the rice. The jalapeño popper appetizer was delicious. We will definitely return on another trip to Orlando! Thank you for a great dinner!

We ended up here by accident, but we will definitely come back when we are in Orlando again. The starters were delicious and the sushi rolls were fresh and tasty, exactly as it should be. We were served by Anthony, a super friendly guy who clearly enjoys his job and makes time for a nice conversation. The rest of the staff were super nice too. We had a great evening!

This spot is very unique! The history itself is timeless. Pure culture and I love it. The food was very quick and delicious! The staff was so polite and kind and attentive as well! We were visiting from Texas and I would love to come here again and again! My friend has a shellfish allergy and they cooked his food separate and accommodated that very well! The garlic edamame, fried California, and hibachi dinners were all delicious ! Highly recommended!

We love coming here when we are in the area. The service is friendly, the restaurant is super clean, the food is delicious. We loved how our server chose the order of how our food would come out. For example, he said that our cold cucumber sushi would be better as an appetizer. I also thoroughly enjoyed my Lychee-tini! Highly recommended for Sushi in the Sea World/Williamsburg area.

Hibachi was great, Sushi was excellent. Our chef might not of been the flashiest guy but he gave us all the standard moves while cooking, plus he cooked everything to perfection. Portions were definitely filling, had enough for another meal in the to-go box. Our server Anthony was friendly & welcoming, carried a conversation well & didn’t make any mistakes. You can tell this is a local place by the way they treat you, they want you to be relaxed while eating, kinda like being invited into their home for a meal.
If you’re looking for table-cooked hibachi then skip Kobe or Benihana and give this place a try. Plus they had a great deal on Groupon. It wasn’t very busy when we ate on Saturday evening, but they deserve to be more busy for sure.

Had the tonkatsu platter. Deliciously fluffy rice and very juicy, crispy pork cutlets breaded made for an amazing lunch. Please try the meat with the sauce, very well worth it! The red velvet cake was also delicious.

I would give zero stars for the food, which tasted like hospital food with no flavor. I ordered teriyaki chicken with rice, and it was the worst Japanese food I’ve ever had. The soup tasted like saltwater, and the dish consisted of five broccoli florets and a tiny piece of uncut chicken breast. For takeout, they provided only a fork and a spoon. This expensive Japanese restaurant is not worth it—go next door to Dennis instead. I do not recommend this place at all.

I arrived around 5pm on a Sunday, and I was seated immediately. Wait staff here are very attentive and friendly. The hibachi is on a separate side of the restaurant, but you can still see it from the regular seating area. The chef woohed the table and I enjoyed seeing some of the tricks too! They have a bar with wine, beer, and cocktails; the Pinot was great.
I want to note that you should NOT use the Google menu; go directly to their website for an accurate menu.

I ordered the jalepeno popper for the appetizer. What a unique presentation and it tasted so fresh!
Sex on the moon was phenomenal. It was plated in a round shape, and the dragon roll was excellent too. The salmon nigiri was also very fresh and well made.
At the end, I wanted to take home a roll to eat later. The Bagel Roll with cream cheese and salmon called my name. I have never modified sushi before and made a special request for it not to be fried. I tried a few bites and it is incredibly delicious!

Thank you for a delicious dinner! I'm still in the middle of eating my meal but that's how impressed I am 🤣 One of the few delivery orders I've gotten where not a single thing was missing, and honestly the ONLY sushi that hasn't disappointed me in a very long time (we order sushi from around Orlando a lot and I'm never satisfied, I'm not sure what it is. I don't think my standards are ridiculously high or anything). Taste and price were all perfect--3 different rolls and some fried rice. There's usually at least one item I don't love when I try a new restaurant but not here! It was quick too. I'll definitely be saving to my Favorites ☺️ ありがとうございます！！

First I want to say the service was wonderful. We were a large party and our server was great and attentive without being over attentive. Food came out quickly and everything was correct. I also think everything was fairly priced. That being said, the food was just average. It wasn't bad and the quality was good, but it there wasn't anything that made me think "oh I have to come back here and get this again."

We are visiting this city for premiere Orlando, we were looking for some sushi and ramen and we didn't get dissappinted ! Our server, Ariel, was absolutely amazing, attentive, fun, sweet, we will definitely come back when we are in town again. I had the chashu ramen and husband got a new different sushi rolls. We love hibachi meals, so we used a groupon to try this restaurant out. We made reservations for 2 at 7 pm on a Thursday evening. We sat with 2 other couples at the hibachi grill table. Leo was our chef.
The waitress was very attentive in explaining the menu, taking our groupon information, and bringing us our drink orders. She checked back often for refills, and there was also another gentleman who would stop by and refill our water glasses.

Leo cooked an excellent meal and entertained us with his juggling of eggs and cooking utensils. He also had a few audience participation moments with his broccoli crowns and chef squirt bottles. It was really fun and engaging.

We ordered 1 chicken and sirloin steak combo and a filet mignon dinner. These also came with a small salad, hot miso soup, fried rice, soft long noodles, and vegetables. The steak, filet, and chicken were cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. Others at the table ordered scallops, shrimp, and sea bass in addition to steak and chicken combinations. These all looked delicious, too.
We will definitely return in the future when we are in the FL area.

They rose to the occasion and made sure our every desire was met.
2 of the 3 chefs did amazing. We had 1 newer cook who tried but fell short of expectations. He is the reason they didnt get 5 stars for food. His skills were actually a 3 but the other 2 chefs were a 5.

EDIT: VERY DISHONEST BILLING. They automatically added on 18% gratuity for a party of two people! I added another tip not knowing this. Very dirty business practice. The norm is 6 or more people for an automatic gratuity.

Food flavor was average but service was good. Friendly staff but they know they will rip you off with a smile. Hibachi chef was not as flashy as I am used to. The place was empty. NEVER GOING BACK DUE TO UNETHICAL AUTOMATIC GRATUITY FOR A PARTY OF 2.

Ordered a few drinks since the Goupon deal was so good but I was charged for a FULL hibachi for two as I was directed to order from the hibachi menu with my Groupon. SCAMMERS. The special rolls were delicious! However the habachi was not so great. We ordered beef but they served us the chicken however when they offered to change it for us when they just served it, they exchanged for a beef one however there were also pieces of chicken in it which was weird, probably just picked out the chicken and swapped for beef which is fine. However it took so long for them to serve the habachi, everyone who had sushi was done before the habachi was served which was unfortunate, and it didn’t even taste that good. I wished that they would have given us some sort compensation or apology since they took so long to serve the food.

My boyfriend and myself have been here on 2 occasions and have been blown away both times! The food is fantastic and the variety is awesome. We enjoyed hot sake, sushi, and one of the beef dishes with a kimchi sauce! Favorite date night place by far!

We drove over 45mins to eat dinner here arriving around 5pm. They said we could not sit at a hibachi table because we did make a reservation and they're website does not say a reservation is required. They only had 4 hibachi tables which is not many for a hibachi place. We ended up going to another hibachi place and it was def the right decision. I ordered online..from their website. Pickup time 8:11 pm on a Monday. Went in 8:10 pm told they were starting to make it. Handed bag at 8:29pm. Checked order in bag. I had order sushi A was suppose to be 7 pieces of chef choice sushi and spicy tuna roll. I was given 4 pieces of sushimi. Went back in and told receptionist I didn't get right order. She said it was the correct thing bc the online menu was not updated. I explained to her what I ordered and showed the menu to her from where I ordered. She took it back and came back with 7 pieces of sushimi and a spicy tuna roll. I explained to her this still was not what I ordered and she said it was bc it was sushi sushimi! I just took the bag and left at 845 bc I was tired! The sushi was good but not worth the price or wait time.

Before we went to eat here I read the reviews. We went in about 6pm and they were not busy, in fact one of the cooks was sitting out back smoking when we had to park around back. We told the hostess we would like hibachi so she made us wait until exactly 6 to seat us. Another lady came and asked us for our drinks and if we had coupons. You don't get a choice on dressing so hope you like the orange one. The cook came out and read our orders back to us and he said them wrong. Then proceeded to "cook" them wrong as well. He didn't seem to know what or how to cook. No seasoning and very little butter and soy was added. We asked the waitress for salt & pepper so she brought an empty salt shaker so he gave us his-he wasn't using it. The vegetables were raw and the steak was very well done. No "show" unless you count him dropping his fork several times. I guess you have to know who to ask to be your cook because the other table was laughing and clapping for their cook. The waitress never refilled our drinks just brought our check with the gratuity already added in. Very disappointing experience and costly!

Great little Hibachi spot. Had a Groupon that's what brought us here. We were seated right away when we arrive for our reservation. All of the staff was very friendly. The restaurant was nice and clean. I also have a Shellfish allergy. The waiter suggested having my meal cooked separately due to people ordering shrimp at our grill. This is the first hibachi restaurant I've been too that offered to cook my food in the back just to be safe. He told me his son has an allergy so it takes it very serious. That really stood out to me. The hibachi was great. The cook was funny and very interactive. It was Valentines day so he made everything in heart shapes.

Well, I wish I would’ve got to try the food. But the hostess was totally rude. The entire place was half empty and she told us it was a 40 minute wait. No commotion no busyness but we couldn’t take a seat even at the sushi bar, that had zero people sitting at it. Ridiculous, I would stay away from this place just for the staff.

The food was delicious. That is where anything good ended.

We arrived at 7:31 and were “too late” for the 7:30 seating for Habachi. I waited for 30 minutes after the rest of my party for my drink (which I ordered at the same time as the others). We waited for over an hour for sushi appetizer that never came. Our dinner came finally (ann hour annd 15 minutes andter seating) and was delicious. We cancelled the sushi after finishing our meals an hour and a half later.

Our check was incorrect.

We will not be returning.

I ordered takeout sushi and was pleasantly surprised. Very good roll size with fish cuts. The server waited until I got there to mix my boba drink so the ice hadn't melted. It was great food and was ready in 15 minutes!

Tried hibachi but the chef seemed to be a novice and was highly inexperienced - unable to perform basic hibachi knife tricks. Both knives and eggs failed down multiple times during the performance. The chef even skipped onion volcano due to lack of confidence (or wanted to finish ASAP). Disappointed? There is a forced 18% tip on the bill and two disgusting tricks hidden in the bill

1. the forced 18% tip is on both the sub total and *sales tax*. This is equivalent to 20% forced tip on sub total (tip percentage shouldn't be applied to sales tax, otherwise this is cheating).

2. On top of the 20% forced tip, the bill also suggests at least another 18% or 20% tip with suggested amount printed (on top of the sub total + *sales tax* + *20% forced tip*). If the customer didn't pay attention to the forced tip and selected a 18% tip like those in other businesses for convenience, they would be paying 43%+ tips for the service. This is dishonest business practice and should be banned.

Went here for the first time, everyone was really nice and polite. The food deserves less than one star if I could!!! From the kid's Japanese fried rice to the adult entrees we ordered, no no no! I could cook it better at home and I'm not even Japanese with all due respect. The food tasted horrible or no taste at all, the noodles were like the Barilla brand noodles with no taste. Totally not like the Japanese food I am used to eating at other restaurants. Not even my kids enjoyed their Japanese rice. Total scam for the money we paid. Will never go back!

Their recipes are all wrong and are sad attempts if you’ve had these dishes before. I know for a fact it is not authentic. Only decent thing is sushi.

I will be coming back every time I’m in Orlando! It’s a family owned restaurant, and the moment you walk in they treat you like family. They’re all so sweet and funny. The food was absolutely amazing! The ginger salad, miso soup, sushi and the hibachi was delicious. I had the Sex on the Moon sushi roll and it’s the best roll I’ve ever had! I can’t wait to go back!

The hostess had a weird and stand offish attitude about us wanting habachi. The waiter was amazing though. Such a cool guy. The chef did not pay attention to cooking. He kept looking up so it caused him to mess up quite a bit. The food was burnt and tasteless. The chicken tasted like fridge and the meat wasn't that great for the price. :(

We have been going to Oishi for sushi since we moved to Florida almost 25 years ago. We went there so much our server gave us one of their coveted VIP cards which gave us 15% off our total bill, including alcohol. We were told that very few of these cards have been given out. We always spend over $100 for just the hubby and I every visit, once every few months. Whenever family was in town, we would take them to eat there, and we would easily spend upwards $200+ and always tip generously. We have also referred MANY people to them over the years, as they have great sushi and friendly staff.
It was extremely unfortunate to learn on our last visit that the new owner will no longer honor our VIP card. It's surprising to me because there are several new sushi restaurants that have opened in the very near vicinity, so it would make sense to ensure they take care of their regular customers.
We'll be trying the other sushi places in the area that have opened up, 3 of which are closer to our house. We never had a reason to try anywhere else, until now. Who knows, maybe we'll become regulars at one of the other spots. Sad that they're driving longtime, local customers away.

I picked up take out from here. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Got back to my hotel, where my wife was waiting, and started eating. The Takoyaki was very flavorful and the octopus inside was amazingly tender! We savored every bite. We got three sushi rolls and were very pleased. Finished with the miso soup…amazing flavor. I highly recommend trying this restaurant out. My wife and I will definitely be eating here again!

Food was wonderful. Had a waitress who started out waiting on us and then decided not to continue waiting on us. Reason unknown. Then when time for the check, although we asked her for it, she ignored us and didn't bother to let the waiter know we were ready for check out, that took over. She was standing right behind us for the most part. So we sat there for an extra 30 to 40 minutes. I would not go back to this place for that reason. Even though we were no longer being served by her, she could have told the other server. Service is just as important as food to me. Too many other good places to go too where the service is better.

Our family dined here while visiting Orlando and we loved the food and service so much that we went back again next day. A week later i was at a conference and I recommended the place to my whole team and our whole team enjoyed it here which included vegetarians and it was a new find for the local team members too. We loved the fact that they took care of us very well. We enjoyed the hibachi teppanyaki, and my favorite part was the salad with the ginger dressing. Save room for their dessert while dining as their dessert was outstanding. Thank you Oishi team !! I will visit again next year with my family 😊

We had an absolutely lovely time. We came in on a whim at 630; they had a 7 table open. Very reasonable wait time for hibachi with no reservation! We got a first love sushi roll which was quick to arrive and delicious! We had edamame and that was just the right amount of salt! For dinner we did one of the dinner for 2s and it was soooo much food! We both left full and had some left overs! I got a peach passion drink and it was awesome!

Food and atmosphere were amazing! We spent the day at Universal and were starving and exhausted. We arrived 15 minutes before closing and the host and team could not have been any nicer. They welcomed us in and treated us like royalty. The service was impeccable! The food was amazing! We were there well past closing time and the staff never rushed us or showed any frustration with us keeping them late. If I could, I would rate this restaurant with 10 or 15 stars. We highly recommend it and will be back again this weekend!

We sat at the hibachi table and this was a first, but the cook was moving so slow that our rice and noodles were both served extremely crisp or slightly burnt. My kids wouldn’t eat the noodles. Not all that bad but my wife ordered sushi (actually similar cucumber rolls) and they didn’t come out until after hibachi had already been cooked and served. Simple rolls took longer! We complained about waiting and our waiter let us know the chef was busy. Real help…. Won’t go back! Normally we always enjoy hibachi and I never spend time to review but this place stinks!

I rarely write reviews but genuinely had the best experience here. Was craving fried rice and ended up leaving incredible satisfied - the staff was so sweet and even though we got there a little before closing they treated us great! Ariel made us AMAZING cocktails - a lemon drop and a margarita.

We got three apps and a fried rice and a drink each and i think that was perfect for two.

Definitely bookmarked for my next time in orlando!

We ordered pickup.. never been here, we were on vacation and my daughter wanted sushi.. needless to say, it wasn’t worth half of what we paid.. the food had no flavor.. not even teriyaki chicken.. it just missed all the marks.. the fried rolls were the only things we finished.. and I order what we always order aside from the fried octopus balls (don’t remember the exact name).. I wouldn’t order again.. it was hot.. the white rice was good.. it was our last meal in Orlando, and I shouldn’t have wasted my money. The 3 rating was because it was ready on pickup and it was hot food.

We just went to this restaurant last night for my husbands birthday dinner and it was not a great time. One of our party members got his order wrong and the server just said “oh well I’ve been selling this all day” then I got a hair in my food and was hesitant to say anything until the server commented on how I had a lot of food going to waste. When I told him he just said “oh well it’s not me but I’ll find out who it’s from” to top it all off they still made me pay $22 for food with hair in it and said “next time you come back we’ll make it right” NEVER AGAIN

I can’t make this up how bad the service and chef was. So many mistakes during my dinner. First we reserved for 6:30pm for hibachi we arrived there around 6:10pm as soon as we checked in they rushed us to a table that already started eating and the waitress said about time you guys showed up. We already looked at there menu and prices on there website and was shocked to see how much of a price difference it was. What we ordered showed $54 for hibachi inside the restaurant price but we was told it would be $74 way more then what we were expecting. We ordered and when the chef came out to confirm our order it was wrong. He seemed upset and confused we told him many times this is not what we ordered and he repeated that it’s on the receipt and that’s what indeed what we ordered. After going back and forth with him he called over the waitress and she took our order again. Both times I spoke what we wanted and pointed to it on the menu. The chef went back to the kitchen came back with the same exact order that he had the first time. I thought it was a bad joke but no he was serious. Both the chef and waitress are tell us it’s correct. Just to let you know what the issue was they were saying we ordered salmon when we ordered chicken. I don’t know how you get those two confused. The other guest at our table started to get upset with the mistakes too. Two more times he went back to the kitchen before he finally got our chicken. He seemed very unfocused and made many mistakes during cooking (dropped food many times, forgot to add ingredients and even forgot one customers steak at the end). Two of the guest at our table never got there rice and asked for it twice but the chef just looked confused and forgot about there rice. So after all cooking was done they finally received there rice. I highly recommend not going. Between bad service, bad chef and crazy high prices stay away.

I LOVE this place! Been here just once and it made me question why I don't drive the 3+hour road trip every weekend to Orlando from Miami just for them.

Every person in their is so welcoming and kind, the staff are so accommodating! The food was fantastic and the price was perfect for what we received. I would recommend anyone to come to this establishment!

I personally got the spider roll and their specialty Oishi roll. My wife got a sushi combo and everything was delicious! The desert was the icing on the cake (almost literally), so if you ever do come I definitely think you NEED to get the fried cheesecake!
