THAI AND SUSHI EATERY
Medium size Thai restaurant in midtown with a very standard Thai menu. Overall the food was well prepared and had good ingredients. The Pad Kee Mao was good and had very good fresh veggies, and the Duck Basil had good flavor, although some pieces were more like jerky while some were tender. The Thai Basil with egg was good but a very small portion of food relative to the rice. The music was too loud and service was good albeit a bit awkward.

Update 12/26/24: Still fantastic as ever.
So many places have either a strong front of house or back of house. Few have both. Pair that with a charming restaurant and you have a fantastic experience. The food is delicious and visually inviting. The front staff are courteous and attentive. They all look out for details across all tables to offer guests a seamless experience.

Larissa made my recent visit to my favorite Thai restaurant truly unforgettable! Her attention to detail, warm personality, and exceptional service made the entire experience even better. She went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, from recommending the best dishes to making us feel at home.
The owner of the restaurant is equally amazing—always so welcoming and passionate about providing the best authentic Thai experience. You can feel the love and dedication they put into every aspect of this place.
Hands down the best Thai spot in town, thanks to Larissa and the incredible team! Highly recommend.

I was on the fence between 3 and 4 stars but unfortunately I had to settle on the accurate rating which is 3. I had ordered to- go a few times in the past with semi mixed results including the most recent to- go order where I ordered the shrimp pad thai and made a small mention to the host that I typically like it a little more well done… unfortunately what I received seemed quite the opposite on the noodles and on the shrimp… doesn’t help that one time prior to that I had to request that one of my dishes be put down a bit longer… Still I had higher hopes for this restaurant. I dined in last night to get an official review. I will say that the layout and location is great! Semi small size but it suffices to serve their customer base. I will also mention that their menu is quite small (reference photos for main menu), and their hours are quite tight as listed online, they are only open about 4-5 hours a day, six days a week. I think the small menu size and small hour window can be interpreted differently by different people, for instance some might appreciate the concise menu suggestions while some might want more options. In either case I essentially left these variables out of the review and left them up to the interpretation of the consumer. To get to the meat and potatoes of my dine in experience, as I mentioned in the opening line of my review, all it did was solidified the 3 star status. I ended up going with the pad thai again, however trying a different protein and going with the beef. The order was… ok. My biggest issue was that the server/ bartender forgot to ask me my spice level preference! She sort of glazed it in without me noticing and then she did one of my big pet peeves which is asked me how the food was as I was still chewing my first bite! I didn’t talk to her for the rest of the meal until I had maybe 2 bites left on my plate! I will say that the lack of spice made the dish very salty and sultry. I usually get spice level 3 out of 5 so that hiccup certainly left a bad taste in my mouth. Additionally, the red peppers that are used for decor only go on the ‘for here’ orders, so I was surprised to find them as I had only ever ordered to- go. My issue with these is that they don’t seem appetizing and they honestly do nothing to make the dish look any better, so I’m not sure where they’re going with that one. I could say more about the not so good service but I think I’ve made my point. My ticket all told for the pad thai and a sprite was roughly $23 before I tipped $5 cash. In short, it’s kind of a trendy downtown dinner restaurant with a cool layout and vibe, however the food and service is quite average at best. I’m sure I will pop by time to time to get something quick to- go, but will not likely be a regular and probably will not be dining in again.

This is a tough review because the food was good but not the flavors of authentic Thai food that we love. From the start, the atmosphere is beautiful and service is excellent. Prices are your standard Miami/Wynwood high. The menu is super small but it was actually nice and easy to make decisions (although they have multiple links for their online menu so it's a little confusing). We tried the drunken noodles, fried rice, hot and sour soup, dumplings, and Thai Donuts. Overall all the dishes didn't have the strong flavor and spices we're used to in Thai cuisine. The hot and sour soup was very bland, the fried rice barely had any flavor, and the drunken noodles were more flavorful but not amazing. We really enjoyed the donuts because they were fresh, soft, and sweet with condensed milk. Overall, it's a good spot for dinner but not a great spot for Thai.

The flavors are a bit bland and they give you almost no protein! We got crab fried rice and I could barely see any crab. We got a duck stir fry and there was tiny shreds of fried duck. Not worth it in my opinion. Sad since I really like Lung Yai.

The best place, a good music playlist, and of course the food! The spring roll with sweet chili sauce and fried rice is great. And Larisa is an amazing waitress. Love it!!!

Ordered the pad Thai, Tom kha (rich coconut soup), and sushi. Everything was as good as expected. Ask for fresh green Thai chili’s if you like spice! Our server was great as well. I wish they had IPA beers or served whisky.

Food was above my expectations. Made with right heat for me which is extra spicy!😊I was just visiting Miami and looking for a good eatery near my hotel! Ambience and atmosphere was friendly and clean. No wait to get table. Waitress was very nice.

We use to come often. Recently the portions have gotten ridiculously small. Not worth the price. My wife and I got noodle dishes with barely any noodles. Such a disappointment.

Gran ambiente!

For not having that many great authentic Asian eateries in miami this one sets the bar. The food is really delicious and the portion sizes are spot on. They really cater to your spice level as well. I've been back a few times and they remain consistent. I will continue to keep going, and would recommend to others.

What a great find, best sushi I’ve had in a long time! Vanessa was super attentive and helpful, the chef is obviously extremely experienced, I am a very picky sushi eater and will definitely be back for more :)
We ordered Tom ka soup, hamachi sashimi, the dancing (real crab/eel) and red carpet (spicy/seared tuna) rolls, soy wrapped veggie roll, and mango sticky rice...every single plate looked and tasted absolutely flawless!!!
Ambiance was lively with great music, not too loud but fun..very clean, urban, industrial, yet chic vibes inside. LOVE LOVE LOVE 🍣🍶👌🏼

*updating my review because this business took quick action to address a concern I had. Great to see businesses strive to do better! DAEK ROCKS 🤘 you can now add peanuts to your pad Thai through Uber eats ❤️
Really inconvenient how you can’t contact this restaurant whatsoever aside from “leaving a voicemail”. Sometimes people need to get in contact regarding orders, reservations, etc. that’s not possible through the website.
I order on Uber eats and there is no option to “add peanuts” to your pad Thai even though the description says that it comes with peanuts. I received my pad thai without peanuts and there was no way for me to order again and let them know through the phone to make sure I want peanuts since you can’t call them.

If you’re expecting lung yai variety, service (which is not fine dinning service, but they certainly never miss an item and pay close attention to orders) and prices, don’t even bother coming here.
Service was off, I had to remind them of items I ordered since they never ringed them.
Not quite sure what investor got into this and decided that putting a sushi bar was a good idea, but if you like saucy, mayoie rolls, this is your spot.
The flavors are somewhat there, but it feels like a washed off version of Lung yai.
Disappointing.

Absolutely mediocre experiences. After coming a first time, ordering pad see ewe with shrimp (only three small shrimp for the whole plate) and green curry with chicken (chicken was over cooked and curry was underwhelming), I decided I had to come back at least once more and try other menu items before I gave my review. Also, I arrived in the early evening and was the first one seated at the bar, and had terrible service while the waiters and bartenders were standing around and talking to each other. When I came back, I tried the Tom ka soup and loved it, but also had pad Thai and red curry. Again, was not even close to impressed by the food quality, this place is “set up” by chefs to be an open late night, fast food style, Thai food restaurant/ bar. Sloppily rushing to plate entrees with veggie garnish and making your dishes 90% green beans and 10% protein item is not what I am looking for. I would come again for the Tom ka soup and happy hour maybe, but not for dinner.

Rodrigo is a phenomenal person. Very detailed. Swift. Knowledgeable. Truly created the exceptional experience. The fact that his service was far beyond amazing makes me want to go back often.
Their food was plentiful. Fresh. Delicious.
I did come back around. Rodrigo has such a memory that he welcomed me by my name. Must I say more? This place is very welcoming. Heart warming to the soul when dining in. This is a go to. A must.

Had dinner there for the first time tonight. It was truly perfect. The manager and our server were on point. We had the ceviche, which is different than typical ceviche, and it is delicious, with a wonderful Thai flavor to the unique dressing! A must have! We also had the crispy duck salad - which hands down is the best we have ever had anywhere in the world! If you like crispy duck, this is IT! Our 3rd dish was the blue crab fried rice - very tasty too. All 3 dishes were perfectly portioned to split between 2 people. All in all, a wonderful experience- highly recommend Daek! You will love it!

Few months ago I ordered pickup, they charged me but when I got there they didnt have the order but offered to make it -and charge me- again. Decided to give it another try since options in Miami are limited. Got Tom Yum soup and clearly they ran out of the proper ingredients and just dumped an order of their steamed veggies in. It just another ok Miami restaurant.

The food was tasty, but it was the smallest portions I've ever seen, for $17 a plate. Maybe it's better if you eat at the restaurant but it's criminal to charge so much for such tiny portions. And the spring roll was very weak and soggy.
I can't wait to see the backlash against restaurants who have gotten so extremely greedy

Disappointed I'm vegetarian/vegan they refused to accommodate me in any of the dishes saying the sauce is already made. I make Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles at home all the time in less than 20 minutes. It's super easy and delicious. Stubborn owner chef I guess. It's 2023 and there are tons of Vegans get with the program.

Average. Not terrible but everything had a little bit of disappointment while tasting fine. Lets say that there are delicious and hearty Tom yum soup, and there’s the ones that are not, and unfortunately this is the latter. Fine for a small appetizer soup but I prob wouldn’t have gotten it had I know what it’s like. The fried chicken wings—it was super crispy on the outside, but it was really just the batter that was crispy, not the skin. A true amazing crispy wing is crispy on the skin! And the meat in the inside had no flavor, it was fine with the sweet chili sauce on the side. The Thai basil stir fry came out in a big bowl and we were quite excited, but then realized that there’s actually not too much stir fry in there as the bowl is mostly filled with rice on the bottom. The taste on this was well done though.

Very disappointing. This was my third time ordering from Daek Thai, each time via Door Dash. This time the food took 2-1/2 hours (yes, you read that right!) to arrive; the Door Dash tracker kept getting later and later and later. The restaurant was ‘too busy’ to handle my order in a timely fashion, most unfortunately. I won’t be ordering from this place again.

Fast food quality, but used to be convenient. Don't bother ordering online, they'll cancel your order because they're "too busy", even though every other restaurant can manage to avoid this issue. Also regularly closed during the week. Consider me a lost customer.

This is simply not Thai food. No idea why it's rated so high.
More than half of the menu is Japanese. Thai food doesn't taste like Thai food. It's way too bland.
1) Their tom yum soup is like a clear soup. The broth has almost no taste.
2) Curry has almost no proper paste and really runny. Again lacking taste.
3) Buying an imported Singha beer is a very common occurrence that almost takes 0 effort; I'm surprised that this place is proud of serving an imported beer. Literally with a quick google search I can see that Total Wine sells it across Miami.
PS: Yes I have been to Thailand and spent over 1 month there, and lived in other cities with higher Thai population.

Out of all the places within a 5 mile radius this one has the most potential. It’s not really Thai food it’s a spin off of Thai food. Nothing is spicy not even a little bit. Even tho I asked for spiciness to be added to my food. I was going to give it 3 stars but then I bit into a piece of plastic in my pad kee. They did take it off the bill, nonetheless it was a disappointment. Side not portions are small not like Thai run restaurants.

The service was great, ambience was good. I have an egg allergy and the chef refused to remove the egg from the pad Thai, which is the only reason I came to eat. Not sure why, it’s not like it’s a necessary ingredient to pull off the dish. Seriously why make an issue out of this? They are way too proud of their mediocre food.
Ordered the Thai basil instead, which was great. To be honest food is ok, kinda like pei wei or like most other Thai spots in Miami, but I’ll never go back since they don’t modify their pad Thai. Best Thai food in Miami is hands down Ricky Thai, compared to them Dark doesn’t even come close to impressing.

Dining at Daek was Thai-riffic in every aspect! The restaurant was clean, the staff were friendly, quality and quantity were spot on, and the food came out super fast! Asian food is tastiest when it’s straight from the wok, on to the plate and eaten at a high temp!
At Daek, Pad Thai and Pad Kee Mao were delicious. However wasn’t a big fan of the green curry, in my opinion theres one or two key ingredients missing - in saying that, it’s still tasty!

Everything is Good! Only drawback is that it's not open for lunch!

Our car was broken into at this location. Glass shattered and 3 carry on bags stolen. PLEASE DO NOT PARK in the parking lot behind the restaurant. Police did not help, cameras are not placed properly and no one helped us. We had just landed in Miami and decided to have dinner here. The food is okay. Its not worth going there to get robbed. SAVE YOURSELF.

I had a fantastic experience. The sake passion fruit was delicious. The duck salad was terrific. One of my favorites was Pad Thai, and it was amazing. All the food was exquisite. Great experience. And for your birthday they treat you very well. You get a free dessert, and sake definitely will come back again. The manager/owner was amiable and had a cheerful attitude.

Service was truly incredible. The manager made sure everything was going well at every point of the meal and even gave us an appetizer on the house! Ontop of that, best Thai food outside of Thailand I have ever had.

Our whole group loved the vibe of Daek. The service was great and attentive but not overbearing. We had pad thai, crab fried rice and green curry for our mains and while we enjoyed everything, the green curry was the favorite for our whole party. We also LOVED the pork dumplings. Yum! And the Thai donuts were so delish!! I’m so sad that we don’t live in Miami because if we did, we would SO be back!

The food was excellent and service impeccable. Amongst the best thai food in Miami.

The Pad Thai was amazing and the customer service was wonderful.

Yay! A good Thai restaurant in the neighborhood! The food and service and staff are all incredible! The menu is limited to a handful of Thai favorites, but they’re perfectly and freshly made, full of flavors and balanced. The Tom ka soup was delicious, as well as the red curry and pad se ew. I highly recommend dining in. It doesn’t require the dress code of fine dining, but you wouldn’t know you were in a more casual spot with the way the staff waits and serves the table. They’re highly attentive and hospitable. Thank you!

I’ve been going to their other spot Lung Yai for years so I had high expectations and Daek did not disappoint. Service was great and the food was plate licking good. I only got Thai dishes so I can’t vouch for the sushi. Definitely get the duck salad wow.

Why was I charged 18% gratuity on a take out order that had smaller portions?

I gave them another try and they got my order all mixed up with Uber eats. By the way they have no none ever answering the phone.I don’t think they have it together. The food is not bad nor great. I will not try them again.

They are extremely rude here, went to order takeout and no one bothered to acknowledge me I stood there for 15 minutes and the ladies there continued packing orders as if I’m not even there. One server did greet me as he passed also one who f the cooks looked at me probably wondering why is she still there. I will keep my business no thanks!!

First time ordering from here and wow! Sooo tasty. We ordered the basil chicken and fried rice both really delicious! I now plan to eat in and try everything on the menu!

The food was some of the best Thai I have had in Miami; for sure the drunken noodle was my favorite but the sushi was also very good. The location has a very nice amibiance although parking in the area is hard to come by unless you want to pay $10.00 for 3 hours in the adjacent lot. The service here was a standout, from the busser to the server, and even the manager, all were professional and helpful, looking forward to returning soon.

Really good spot. Food came out in less than 15 minutes, attention was great and the prices are moderate. Portions are not as big so you might want to order an appetizer if you are sharing.

I ordered through Uber and was very impressed. I love Thai and it’s hard to come by real Thai food in Miami. The pad see wee was delicious as was all the rest.

Oh Daek, you are a perfect little gem in Midtown Miami. Sporadically, This is our go to spot when we want some delicious, authentic Thai food with amazing service and hospitality. The General Manager, Mr. Rodrigo is more than a manager, he sets the ambiance, the mood, the music and is just a generous, attentive host. Our service Lauriem and busser Roman paid attention to every detail through our entire dinner, and the food... OUTSTANDING! The Tom Kai soup is absolutely delicious every single time and the steamed dumplings are cooked to perfection. Get the Red Curry Dish with chicken , you won't be disappointed. The happy hour prices are great and the sushi rolls plentiful. At the end of dinner, we had the most delicious Thai donuts ... definitely a perfect ending to an amazing meal. Come to Daek and have a wonderful Thai experience in the heart of Miami.

For a Thai Restaurant, the menu didn't have too much variety and was one of the shortest I've ever seen. Don't get me wrong, the food was good and the serving size was on point, but this is not a place I'd make time for unless I live or find myself in the area. The interior was very minimalist, devoid of any decor, with concrete walls/floors and metallic accents. Service was prompt and always checking on you.

Amazing food and sushi ! Only down size is that the portions are really small

This relatively new (3 years) restaurant in midtown Miami is excellent! We love Thai food. The pad Thai, Tom Yum soup and red curry that we had here was as good as we have ever had. They serve draft Singhha beer! Service was highly attentive and friendly. We sat outside comfortably. Try it!

Kind of an upbeat place and not a place if you are really hungry. Portion sizes are small. Don’t recommend sushi at all. Pricey place with French portions

Wanted to love it but was really disappointed. It’s overpriced for the portions. Some of it looked nothing like the picture on Uber eats. Soup was super watery. Meat tasted a little off. Ended up making my stomach hurt. Pass.

Portion is way too small for the price it charges. Did not give utensils when asked. Flavour is average

This place is the real deal. My girlfriend and I come here once a week. We just brought a friend here visiting from LA and he never really liked Thai food. This place changed his mind real fast. He loved it. Definitely check it out if you are in the area.

Hands down the best service I’ve had in years. Our glasses of waters were filled frequently, new drinks on the table when we needed them, staff made sure to stop by to ask if we wanted to order anything frequently (and each time we ordered more and more), the food arrived in the blink of an eye. The manager stopped by multiple times to check in. If you are going out to spend your hard earned money, this is exactly how you should be treated. The staff, the kitchen, the management, all sone of the best in Miami.
Happy hour was solid. Amazing good. We got one of each item on the menu. You will not be disappointed.
The highlight was the beef jerky 🤤

Ordered through delivery service. Food was hot, packaged well and tasted great. The shrimp dumplings were small, but tasty. The pad see ew was the best I've ever had. Most Thai places provide large serving sizes, but I'll take this places smaller portions for the better flavor.

Food was amazing!!!!! Our table had the springs rolls, crab fried rice, Thai basil, and pad Thai. Will definitely be back once I’m in Miami again!!!

Food isn’t terrible. But they are overpriced, wouldn’t order from here again. They cheap out on the amount they give you, Don’t even bother paying extra for shrimp. $3 and they’ll give you 3.

This place had been on my list for as long as I could remember. I used to frequent so much back when it used to be gigi and was devastated when I found out they were closing. That sadness is long gone now that Daek is here! Firstly, Thai food in Miami is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Secondly, good thai food in Miami is almost non-existent with the exception of Lung Yai on Calle Ocho. My friend and I dined at Daek for the first time yesterday and we were pleased to find out they are from the Lung Yai group. We ordered the Spring Rolls & Shrimp Dumplings as a starter and then the Pad Kee Mao, Duck Salad, and Crab fried rice. Our waiter was amazing and the food was delicious! The only reason why I didn't give the restaurant 5 stars is because their wine selection is very minimal.
