OGAWA which translated to Little River is rooted in the exquisite simplicity of kappo sushi tradition.
Ogawa in Miami provided one of the most unforgettable dining experiences of my life. The intimate setting immediately transports you to Japan, with its authentic ambiance and attention to detail. Every dish was exquisite, bursting with flavor and beautifully presented, showcasing the true artistry of Japanese cuisine.
What made the night even more special was the incredible staff, who went above and beyond to help me propose to my girlfriend. Their kindness, support, and seamless coordination made the moment absolutely perfect.
Ogawa is more than just a restaurant; it’s an experience that leaves a lasting impression. Thank you for making our special day so extraordinary. We’ll be back to relive the magic and have already decided to make Ogawa a tradition. If you’re seeking the closest thing to Japan in Miami, this is it. Highly recommend!

We are lovers of Omakase and have eaten at every spot in Miami. The scene has there improved greatly in the last couple of years. Ogawa stands above the others in terms of quality of food, ambience and service. Very Authentic (we have been to Japan numerous times) and a real focus on freshness. The Den and Hidden are excellent, but we thought Ogawa was more than worthy of its Michelin star. The Owner was kind and the Chef was skilled and took into consideration our tastes. They even write down what you had & enjoyed the most, so that when you come again they can delight you even further.
The small garden in the back is a lovely touch and a nice place for a drink before or after dinner. I HIGHLY recommend and hope to see 2 stars in the future!

Loved my experience, I will definitely be coming back!

As a passionate fan of sushi and the omakase experience, I was delighted to find something truly unique at Ogawa in Miami. The décor captures the essence of traditional Japanese aesthetics, evoking memories of intimate restaurants in Kyoto and Kobe. Adding to the charm is Alvaro Miranda, whose love for Japanese culture infuses the space with a lively, welcoming, and approachable atmosphere. His enthusiasm is infectious and sets the tone for an unforgettable dining experience.
The meal itself leans more towards a Kaiseki-style experience rather than a classic sushi omakase. This distinction lies in the thoughtful inclusion of seasonal ingredients served across both cold and hot courses. Each dish takes diners on a culinary journey through Japan, showcasing the finest ingredients from various regions. While sushi is certainly part of the experience, it’s only one component of an intricate and well-curated menu.
We opted for the sake and wine pairing, and it exceeded expectations. Each glass was expertly matched to its corresponding course, and the pours were generous, adding to the overall indulgence.
Admittedly, the price for the full experience is steep, but it’s one of those rare meals—like O Ya in Boston—where you leave feeling that every penny was well spent. I wholeheartedly recommend Ogawa and look forward to returning for another extraordinary dining adventure.

I went to Japan and came back, without having to get on a plane or leave Miami. Ogawa offers a one of a kind dining experience in which the level of the food is matched with the quality of the service.
100% of the products I consumed originated from Japan, from Giant Pacific Octopus to the finest Hitachi Wagyu beef. The selection of Sake is simply exquisite!
The restaurant seats 12 people maximum on the sushi bar, with two dedicated sushi chefs who create a distinctive experience for each person using only the finest ingredients. It is a spectacle to witness how each fish (flown straight from Japan) is gently caressed and carefully sliced with utmost appreciation and devotion. I watched in awe as Chef Masayuki delicately created each dish as if he were creating art.
My recommendation is that the best way to enjoy this experience is on a solo date with yourself so that nobody can distract you from the orgasmic feel of each bite. If you want to share the experience make sure to go with someone who really appreciates Japanese food and is ready to dive into this one of a kind experience with their full attention. The focus is on the food and the experience, not on socializing.
This is the kind of place where eating becomes a ceremony in which the chef leads the way and walks you through flavors and textures that spark your curiosity and make you fall in love with Japanese food and culture.
Founder Alvaro Perez and chef Masayuki did it again, expectations were absolutely surpassed!
I will fantasize with Ogawa until next time.

They really understand the food as well as the background of where the food comes from. They don’t compromise the food for monetary gain. The fish is fresh everyday. Should be a 2 Michelin stars!!

Dining at Ogawa in Miami was nothing short of extraordinary—like being transported to Japan without leaving the city. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was serene and authentic, setting the perfect tone for what would become one of the best meals of my life.
Every ingredient was meticulously sourced from Japan, ensuring an unparalleled level of authenticity and quality. A standout detail was the wasabi, freshly grated on genuine shark skin. The attention to detail and precision in every dish was remarkable.
This wasn’t just a meal—it was an experience. Ogawa deserves every bit of its five-star rating. I can’t wait to return for another unforgettable journey through Japanese cuisine. Highly recommended!

Truly one of the most incredible dining experiences I have ever had. Their attention to detail, quality, and Sensei is unparalleled. The freshest and rarest type of fish in the United States right from Japan. The hospitality and family environment created enhanced the overall evening. We didn’t want to leave. When we were there, sitting next to us were high profile business men from Japan- a true testament.

Ogawa has been the best Omakase experience in South Florida to date. The space is polished without feeling intimidating. The service is attentive and personable. Most importantly, the food is exceptional. Chef Royce's commitment to his craft and guests is readily evident from the first dish. I particularly enjoyed the prepared dishes prior to nigiri courses later on, even though the fish selection is nothing to dismiss - all cuts were tantalizing. Will stop by again soon.

The omakase at Ogawa took Miami to a new height. Each dish is superbly balanced and harmonized, exemplifying the chefs’ skills. Fish are flown in from Japan daily. Not a single creation has been repeated since they opened their doors last October! My first course was Kegani; it was so good that I immediately requested a second serving. The Wagyu skewers cooked in 3 different flavors was another one of my favorite. The layered O-Toro simply melted in my mouth, as did the scallops. The Kuruma shrimp was definitely the highlight of the evening. Despite its large size, the meat remains sweet and tender; the shell tempura was flavorful and crispy. The uni, the caviar, the oat charcoal seared kinmedai, the skillfully crafted nigiri, the boldly flavored hand roll - everything was masterfully prepared, exceeding all expectations. My dinner ended with a sweet potato ice cream with adzuki bean. Refreshing to the last bite! Congratulations Chef Masa, Chef Royce and Chef Jamie! You have put together something extraordinary! We will be seeing you again soon!

Imagine having your own private Japanese chef(chef Royce) preparing for you the freshest sushi 🍣 right in front of your eyes. The restaurant has an authentic feeling big enough for 12 people max. The decor and vibes make it cozy. The staff there are professional and even walked us out to our car as we were leaving.
Yes it’s next to the railroad tracks, Expect the train to pass by and tremble you a little. All part of the experience

The attention to detail is second to none in this quaint establishment. Nothing is overlooked, from the moment you walk in your every movement is anticipated and cared for. As for the food, we were happy but not blown away. There were a few highlights, as exepcted, but overall some areas could be improved. For instance, the dessert was overly simple and basic and they could include a pre-dessert. Our expectations were high as this is the upgraded version (or big sister/brother) to Hiyakawa and the latter serves up a great omakase experience at their counter. As such, we were expecting an omakase experience to top that but felt that Hiyakawa surpassed it as it provided a more diverse tasting menu. Nonetheless, this is a place you must include in your to do list. Hats off to Royce and Masa for a pleasant evening!

I read the reviews and gave to tell you my experience was nothing like most of theirs. Overpriced, mediocre sushi in a deserted part of town where I needed to park directly in front and not in the parking lot as I was concerned when leaving after a 9:00 seating. It wasn’t terrible but by no means good. The other reviews make no sense at all.

I must have gone to a different restaurant than the previous reviewers because mine and my companions meal was not good by any stretch of the imagination. The restaurant is located in a desolate area where they need to keep the doors locked presumably to keep the riff raff out. Inside it is an ordinary looking restaurant which is no different than your local sushi spot. If you live nearby perhaps worth going to but certainly no reason to go out of your way for this.

For those of us that have been lucky enough to have visited Japan, Ogawa is the closest thing you'll find to the real thing here in Miami. The quality of the seafood coupled with the exceptional craftmanship of Chef Masa and his team will absolutely blow you away. This is true fine dining and I cannot wait to return!

My second time eating there and what an experience. So sophisticated elegant and refine experience. By far the best authentic Japanese omakase experience I have had in the USA. From the moment you walk in you are transported to Japan from the service food and decor with the beautiful Japanese Garden in the back. Congratulations again to Alvaro, chef Masa and the whole team.

A Culinary Oasis in Miami at Ogawa!
As a Los Angeles foodie accustomed to a diverse culinary scene, I was blown away by my recent experience at Ogawa in Miami. From the moment my friend and I stepped inside, we were transported to a world of elegant simplicity and exceptional taste.
Ambiance: The restaurant boasts a chic, minimalist design with warm lighting and subtle Japanese accents. The open kitchen allowed us to witness the culinary artistry firsthand, it was intimate yet lively, perfect for catching up with a close friend.
Service: The chefs helped us navigate the menu and explained the different sake options pairing our dishes making us feel truly welcome.
Food: The star of the show, of course, was the food. We opted for the omakase experience, allowing the chef to curate a personalized tasting menu based on seasonal ingredients and our preferences. Each course was a revelation, showcasing the freshest seafood and impeccable preparation. The flavors were delicate yet balanced, and the presentation was a feast for the eyes. Our favorites were the melt-in-your-mouth yellowfin tuna sashimi, the umami-rich sea urchin, and the delicately grilled salmon belly, oh my, oh my...!
Overall: Ogawa is not just a restaurant; it's an experience. The combination of exquisite food, impeccable service, and stunning ambiance made it a highlight of our Miami trip. If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience that elevates Japanese cuisine to an art form, Ogawa is a must-visit. It easily earns 5 stars and a place on my list of top culinary experiences.

I live in NYC but am in Miami often and this is my favorite place to have sushi! Amazing food and service. Can not recommend enough
Visited a year ago
I have lived in Miami my whole life and have spent a considerable time dining at some of its best restaurants. Ogawa, in Little River, is undoubtedly the sublime culmination of two decades of culinary evolution for our City.
From the moment you arrive in Ogawa, you feel as though you have been teleported to a gastronomic oasis in Tokyo. Situated alongside a working railroad, Alvaro Perez Miranda’s 11-seat omakase is simply divine.
Master sushi chef Masayuki Komatsu (“Masa”) absolutely steals the show. He engages the costumers with his expert skills and, just as important, his hilarious personality. Like a maestro conducting a beautiful symphony, Chef Masa wows with each precise preparation.
With only two sittings in a night, the chance to eat at Ogawa feels like a gift. The experience is further enhanced if, and when, a train slowly approaches and fills the room with an extraordinary buzz, reminiscent of an exotic Japanese railway landmark.
Each and every detail in Ogawa makes me want to return, over and over, again. And I will.
My only hope is that this restaurant will mark the beginning of a new trend of first class, one-of-a-kind, Michelin-worthy masterpieces that will emerge in Our Miami.

Ogawa is an extraordinary addition to the local dining scene. This upscale fine omakase dinner experience offers a diverse array of dishes, each impressively fresh. The exclusive ambiance, limited to two sittings per day, creates an intimate setting due to the small group of diners. Highly recommend for those seeking both culinary excellence and a memorable atmosphere.

Ogawa in Miami is a true gem that exceeded all my expectations. The culinary journey began with an inviting ambiance, setting the stage for an exceptional dining experience. Every bite was a harmonious blend of flavors that left a lasting impression.
However, I have to say that what truly elevated our experience at Ogawa was the impeccable service. The staff demonstrated a combination of attentiveness and knowledge, guiding us through the menu with genuine enthusiasm. Ogawa not only delivers fantastic food but also sets a standard for unparalleled service, making it a must-visit for anyone seeking high quality experiences in Miami.

Not even sure where to begin! Ogawa is AMAZING … I’ve been to Japan a few times so I can be a bit picky —so believe me when I say this place is the closest thing to an ‘authentic’ omakase experience you’ll have here in the US —I could have been sitting in a little Zen place in Tokyo.
Course after course just kept getting better, (hitachi wagyu was a standout) and the staff were so attentive… even the chef took time to make sure we loved everything..
Seriously, if you love food, you need to go. It's an experience you won't forget! I can’t wait to go back.

Finally I was able to get a table at Ogawa and what an amazing place. From the moment you enter the restaurant you realize this place is special. We arrived early so decided to have a sake in the outdoor garden which is beautifully landscaped. The entire experience was so special. The food was truly exquisite, the service impeccable and I would say that it is unequivocally the best Japanese restaurant in Miami, and I have tried most of them.

Amazing experience at Ogawa. So many unique kinds of Japanese fish that I had never even heard of before. The tempura was another standout that had us drinking the sauce off the plate. Have never had Japanese food like this in Miami and it’s definely a welcome new addition to the city.

I just wanted to say thank you from bottom of my heart for the most amazing dining experience I have EVER had in Florida in 30 years of living here. I can’t tell you enough about how thoroughly impressed I was about every single details of dining experience. Authentic Kappo style dining which is a step above from omakase dining style is a breath of fresh air and is straight from what you experience in Japan. And I grew up there! It’s not just about fish you source from Tsukiji market, it’s about every little details you might miss from the highest quality nori from Saga prefecture to two types of sushi rice using different vinegar seasoning depending on fish being served, to top notch service and of course, the best sake and wine list I’ve ever seen. And please pay attention to incredible ceramics on art display to your dishes being served on. Work of art. When you enter, feast your eyes on vintage Suntory whiskey bottles so rare, they are collectors items. Please arrive early to enjoy intimate zen garden to sip on Japanese whiskeys while you wait for your table and work up your appetite. It’s become my last supper wish and a reason to be alive. Bravo to chef Masa San and his dedicated and passionate team!

Where do I even start? From the moment you walk into Ogawa, you are transported out of Miami, and immersed in the essence of Japanese culture. From the beautifully curated artwork displayed on the walls, to the artifacts from Masa's grandmother on the shelves, and the calming rock garden in the back, the space takes you to Japan. Once you've let your surroundings soak in, Masa takes you on a journey. The uni from hokkaido melts on my tongue and brings me back to the salty days I used to spend boogie boarding until sundown. The ikura pops one by, each bursting with flavor amongst the soft custard in the chawanmushi. The hotate delicately touched with fresh yuzu tastes like heaven combined with a floral sake. I could go on forever, but you should probably experience it yourself.

Chef Masa and team, thank you for opening my eyes to what the highest level of hospitality looks like. As a newcomer to the Omakase arena, Ogawa felt like a once in a lifetime experience.. like walking into a concert you don't know, unconvinced of what's to come , and being completely blown away. Starting off in the Japanese garden and raising a toast as the train rolls by was a great way to settle in before the real show started.. Two Chefs preparing incredible fish, every movement behind the bar purposeful, and hinting at the reactions for your taste buds, while giving you the time to register it. Every detail is impeccable from the food , to the servers who never leave your cup empty, and the art on the walls. Chef Masa does a great job with the balancing act of making everything feel very laid back while also truly being a master of his craft , and honoring his tradition. I can't wait to come back

This is by far, the highest level of gastronomy; I lost count how many times I said “this is delicious”. To see the chef prepare each dish was an absolute visual delight. The intimate atmosphere along with the attentiveness of the staff, all a perfect choreography.
The freshness and quality of the ingredients is incredible.

What an incredible experience. All I can say is if you are in Miami, this is a MUST try. The freshness of the food is incomparable. They fly in their fish daily! I met the owners and they are so passionate about their craft. Closest experience I’ve had to my coveted trips to Japan.

Ogawa is an otherworldly experience; the intimate serene atmosphere ornamented by opulent Nihonga painting, sharp ikebana arrangements and a traditional Japanese garden in the back.
From offering seasonal delicacies such as firefly squid, to serving up Hitachi Wagyu beef and even lotus root tempura, the freshness is unbelievable. The licor selection doesn’t stay behind; I started with a refreshing whisky highball (Hibiki) and was then recommended exquisite sake and wine pairing throughout the omakase. For each dish, a you observe the chef’s process of deft cutting and hand pressing, followed by careful plating, and of course, a personalized explanation of the main ingredients, flavors and recommendations.
Truly, an exhibition for all the senses.
PS: Im a frequent customer at Wabi Sabi, which I also *highly* recommend.

As a Japanese American, I'm always looking for where I can find authentic Japanese cuisine and experiences. In a city where "Japanese" food is often flashy and with excessive ingredients, Ogawa offers true Japanese flavors. Not only that, the restaurant is beautiful and so thoughtfully designed. It somehow makes you feel calm just walking in. A must visit.

An absolute journey of a lifetime. I’ve been to many upscale Japanese restaurants in my lifetime but this one was over the top. Only 11 seats and the wonderful staff there made it an unbelievably personal experience. Highly recommend for that special occasion.

Japan in Miami! Ogawa is not only one of the best omakase restaurants in the US, but it is the definition of what a dining experience should be. The staff is professional and attentive, predicting your every need; every item or service provided was delivered at the exact moment I contemplated it without even a gesture from me. And the food! Every course was exceptional, and the Otoro was out of this world, as was all of the fish served. Lastly, the ambiance transports you to a neighborhood in Tokyo, or Kyoto. From our aperitif in their Japanese garden, to the interior of the restaurant, you felt as if you were in another place. Ogawa is a must try for any foodie. Do whatever you can to book a night that you will be sure to remember.

One of those “hidden gems”. It opened quite recently but you can tell the people involved have been doing this for many years. Not only the food was top notch, but the attention to detail, the craftsmanship, the cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere, everything took this dining experience to a whole new level. I came out of there feeling absolutely delighted.
