The sushi tasted very fresh, the shrimp on hibachi was delicious. One thing that stood out was how great and fast the service was. The staff was on top of getting your orders in and out fast and correctly with them always being on top of anything you need. The size of the menu was great for that price definitely worth it.

There’re many options. I just rated 4 stars for food because I required the very fresh sushi. However, the sushi was pretty decent for the price and available options. The servers were nice. They had a busy day but really cared for each tables. The restaurant was quite hot (most of my friends said the same too) even it was 7pm. Overall, this is a nice place for meeting with friends and family.

Today is my first visit to Rainbow Sushi.
Our party of 4 came early on a Monday around 11:45 and we were seated right away by a very friendly, warm welcoming young man.
The restaurant is open , airy and has a great selection of seating including comfortable booths and tables with well cushioned chairs and even a long sushi bar table with ample arm room and 8 chairs.
I must share with you that in the background and at a perfect volume, Japanese music is playing and it I was a wonderful change from going to restaurants where top 40 is playing at too many decibels loud.
We started with Ginger Salads and steamed vegetables which were excellent.
Not my favorite Ginger Dressing ever, but fresh iceberg lettuce and it was till tasty.
I went to my favorite mix of Spicy Tuna , Avocado with Tuna on top with Spicy Sauce which was excellent.
My wife loves deep fried rolls so she started with # 5 Fried Crab Cheese which come out warm and steaming. You must try this on your first visit ⭐️
We had a compliment of of both sides of the menu and loved everything.
I have had Sushi all over Jacksonville and will definitely put this on my list to come again and again ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

All the food was just okay. You do normally get what you pay for with sushi, so when I go to an all you can eat place my expectations are already tempered, but still, Most of the food was flavorless.
I also had the misfortune of going on a weekend. They don't offer anything extra, but they still charge a few dollars more, and you're also still going to have to pay more if you want any "premium" rolls.
The server stand was right next to us and our server was nice, but it still took way too long to get their attention/get our bill once we were done.
Overall not a "bad" experience, but in a city with so many options i don't think I'll be back here soon.

I absolutely love this place, I first discovered it in late 2022 when I moved to Jacksonville to go to UNF, and I have been going a few times a month since then. I have never had a bad experience there regarding food quality or service, it has always been amazing quality food. I highly recommend this place for sushi and Japanese food. All the food is made to order which is surprising for this kind of restaurant, I am used to them being premade, so it’s a nice touch that it’s made when you order it specifically for you. I wish I could give this place more than five stars.

We eat sushi several times a month. Some of our favorite places are 2+ hours drive one way and a few are 10 hours one way. Today, we stumbled across Rainbow Sushi, and for the price, it is in the top 3 of our favorite. The quality rates 97%, the price is 100%, but the service is a little slow to get started and gets a 30%. We were never welcomed, never asked for a drink order, and had to get our own wasabi and ginger. The entire time, the servers might have said 5 words. The owner spent several minutes talking to one table of regulars but eventually started to help. Will we go back? Definitely! I have no issues driving from Gainesville just to eat there. Could they be a lit more friendly, absolutely! It was 10 minutes to get water and another 10 to get food. Once we started eating, it progressed at a perfect pace between filling out an order slip and receiving the food. If you go, what they lack in service they make up for in quality and price.

Been several times, now my favorite sushi spot. Love the service: come in, get seated, get paper and pencil, look at menu and you can select up to 8 items at a time, place your order on the paper and leave on edge of your table, waiter picks up paper, 3-10 minutes later food served! Huge variety and even includes soups, salads, and appetizers. Definitely would recommend!

Just realized I've never left a proper review of Rainbow Sushi. In the short time I've lived on the East Side, my girlfriend, best friend and I have swiftly become regulars. It's AYCE, so don't expect artisan sushi - but Rainbow is hands-down the best value Japanese food in Jax. 6 stars if I could.

The food was good. The staff looked disorganized and stressed. When bringing the food out there is a table number but no place numbers which would help with the organization and distribution of the food.

Decent food, terrible service. Went with some friends, one of whom is special needs and. Ordered appetizers rolls, and hibachi. Appetizers came, and then rolls maybe half an hour later. No hibachi, leaving our friend with special needs, who does not care for rolls, starving for another half hour. When I brought this to the attention of the server his response was "I'm sorry you're so unhappy" in an obnoxious and sarcastic tone. NOT!OK! Bad enough that the wait time was ridiculous but to make a comment like that when a customer is speaking up for someone who can't advocate for themselves is cruel and inexcusable.

I have been to most of the AYCE Sushi in Jax, and this is the best in class. Service & quality are on point. Not loud and rowdy or obnoxious music playing, very relaxed atmosphere.
Everybody seems to work hard to meet their customers' expectations. Will definitely return.
Unfortunately, this location has closed for business. However, their other location, 12620 Beach Blvd # 19, Jacksonville, FL 32246, is great also.

First time here, my boyfriends order was misplaced and I ended up getting my food before him when he ordered 10 minutes before me. I never received an item on the order which wasn’t a widely huge deal because the food was mediocre. You definitely pay for what you get for here, on a scale I’d say a step above gas station sushi and a step below grocery bought. The fish that topped the rolls were inconsistently warm and cold when sushi should always be freshly sliced cold. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so rushed to finish my meal and leave when the restaurant hasn’t even closed yet. The servers just kept making awkward eye contact for me to hurry when it was 8:40 on a sunday. One server looked hispanic or mixed and was great kept checking on us for refills and anything else we needed for our order. But two other men that were serving us and the first that sat us was a blonde man he just disappeared completely. Then the last one (taller brunette man) came and when we sent raw sushi back because it was warm like it was sitting out, made a comment about “if he could swish his hands in someone’s bowl of soup when they say it’s cold and tell them it’s not he would” not even 5 minutes after. Right in front of me as he was waiting for me to pay. I just find it highly unprofessional to make your frustrations into jokes with coworkers in front of the guests. Not to mention I was the last table to leave and half way through my last roll. I’ve served for 5 years at various restaurants in Las Vegas and California including sushi and korean bbq but this place was just a disaster. The man who took care of us is the only reason I rated it 2 stars because I appreciated the effort. I live 6 minutes up the street and immediately felt ill and was in the restroom because my stomach hurt so bad.

After being seated immediately, we were surprised to wait more than 5 minutes for 2 glasses of water. Once our order slips were picked up the food came quickly; this would normally be a good thing, but we were repeatedly presented with items we did not actually order. The food itself was just ok. This isn’t the worst place to eat, but there are much better options available in the area.

The food at rainbow sushi is excellent I think the servers get mixed up with food orders sometimes. I don't know how but you'll end up with stuff you didn't order or something you did order didn't show up. They're friendly and everything there so it's not that. Since it's all you can eat at a great price I don't mind the occasional mix up.

The night we went the air was broken, and they were understaffed. You can't have a place this busy, charge people for an "all you can eat" meal, and have 3 people serving what I counted as at least 20 tables. The poor staff looked stressed and tired but they were trying hard. We were there almost an hour and a half. During that time, my daughter literally put in 3 tickets for food and received one item that she ordered. It was chaos. Maybe it was a bad night, but if that's how it is every night, I'd say pass on this one. You could overhear people at every table making jokes about "the lack of air conditioning must be their plan to get you to leave the all-you-can-eat faster".
The food was actually good but the chaotic delivery made it difficult to enjoy. Definitely not worth spending an hour and a half (and $160 for 6 people) to leave an "all-you-can-eat" and immediately go next door for ice cream because we were still hungry but uncomfortably hot and ready to go.

I give this particular restaurant two stars simply because at peak times is a total mess. I always go weekdays for lunch, which is very well priced and never crowded. But a week ago I made the biggest mistake by showing up for dinner on Friday. As the place started to get packed the orders began to take longer, waiters were confused bringing wrong orders and not paying attention to basic table tending, like refills.
My Shrimp tempura order never arrived and after being there for an hour, barely able to get one order of sushi rolls. I asked for the check which was a whooping $27 compared to $17 they charge for lunch. I left the restaurant angry abd frustrated.
My honest advice: Food quality is still very good, but unless you don't mind waiting a looong yime for the order/s, put up with terrible service, and pay 60% more, avoid dining here on Fridays and weekends.

Overall, I’m conflicted about my experience. Service wise, the restaurant is a mess. During our time there, we consistently heard others around us complaining of incorrect items being brought to the table. My partner and I were often brought items we did not order and also never received items we did order. The saving grace for this restaurant is that all the sushi bar items are of amazing quality. The salmon nigiri literally melts in your mouth. If you want great quality sushi, they have it, if you want great quality service, they are struggling in that department.

After 3 years open, I only order the soups, the amazing roll the beef hibachi side and tye fried shrimp tempura!!!
They try, but it's clear no one here has hospitality experience. A lot of " hope you fill up on " dishes to avoid like the shrimp rolls etc stick to any roll with tuna in it. Same guy has waited on me for 3 years, finally comfortable with me, but other than that the floor is almost always really dirty. Go for the weekday lunch deal to avoid crowds . Closed on Tuesdays, be in the door before 3pm last customer lunch cut off as service stops at 330♡

My friend and I went to this place on Friday for lunch and both of us got food poisoning. At first I thought it only affected me, but once my friend reached out and told me that she is having the same symptoms, I knew that we were served unfresh food since we shared every order. I used to like this restaurant whenever I craved sushi, but after the horrible night of camping in the bathroom, I will no longer take my chances. 40 bucks for lunch to have upset stomach and no sleep, no thank you. Went here because sushi X was closed because it’s sunday. the sushi was okay, what can you expect from all you can eat sushi? the waiters were nice and food came out quickly once they finally grabbed our tickets. The bathroom looked very dirty.. muddy floor and dirty water was all over the toilet scrubber and plunger.
their imitation krab was very interesting. it looked like shredded cheddar cheese but it tasted fine, definitely worse than other krab i’ve had. now once we started getting spicy tuna rolls is when i started to really dislike the food. the mix of tuna and spicy mayo created a terrible taste and was hard to stomach. Decent food plus some bad food and dirty bathrooms equals 2 star review for me. i don’t plan to eat here again.

The food is always amazing. But, one big flaw is that they take forever to get your food out and when they do give you something it’s usually not what you ordered so you have a 50 percent chance of getting what you ordered. Rainbow Sushi is where you want to go if you want to enjoy a big meal with some friends and have a bit of chatting time. The food takes a bit to arrive to the table but the key is to have your next order ready as soon as your first order arrives - then start eating! You fill out a slip of paper to place your orders and the serving staff comes to pick them up and refill drinks. Overall a good experience for the price and definitely one of my local favorites in Jax.

It is a nice place very beautiful Murals but that is where it stops. There are far better AYCE sushi places in Jacksonville. Service was horrible. Drink order was wrong, had to ask for refills, and did not receive items ordered, had to ask for them. Food Quality was not good. I hope people do not think this is what sushi is supposed to taste like. If you want good sushi go to Fuji3 in Mandarin. Menu is almost the same.

Sushi was okay. Everything else was meh. Price is cheap, but is reflective of the product. We were not happy that our child, who saw nothing on the menu she wanted was still charged $6 for sitting at the table. I have come here and had great experiences and some not so great experiences. I sat here for almost an hour and a half and only one server out of the four or five there was helpful. They asked us to change tables in the MIDDLE of eating and gave our food to the other table. The only helpful server there stopped and asked if we order any of what he had but unfortunately his co workers already gave it away. One guy (the not so helpful one) did ask us if we needed anything after waiting over half an hour and asked if we needed something and when we asked for refills he only brought my fiancés back.

I convinced a friend to have it with me, they were super busy but kept bringing our food to the table next to us, we had a n 80 dollar meal that I could've got at a 12 dollar buffet, they are under staffed and that kind of sucked, but what we FINALLY GOT WAS GOOD, JUST NOT WHAT WE PAID FOR. NEVER EVEN GOT A REFILL ON A SPRITE, WANTED SAKE NEVER CAME EDAMAME NOPE, STEAK TEPANYAKI NEVER CAME. brought some strange nori burritos to the table though, gave those to the people next to me since they had basically ate our whole order anyways, my friend was so bummed out after I convinced him to try it, left me there to sort it out myself. Get better servers! I'm not ashamed to leave a 12 dollar tip on a 48 dollar meal when the tables have markers for what was ordered, I still want gyoza but I'll go to pho viet next time.

My favorites were spicy salmon roll, steamed gyoza, veggie tempura. Fresh fish. Food comes out quickly for all you can eat! Sizes are what you would expect. Service was great, especially kind to us with a toddler.
Initially weird to listen to Credence Clearwater Revival with a Chinese post-apocalyptic movie while eating my sushi but I got used to it. 😅
Servers were very nice, very efficient at taking orders and clearing plates. I just did what would help them best, which was stack all the stuff we wanted taken away at the end of the table. And let our order slips hang off the edge of the table a little bit. Loved that was how they liked it too, no fuss.
Also, the restaurant smelled heavily of a cologne that I did not like. I stopped smelling it after a while though.
$22.50 per person for dinner. Will definitely go back.

This is my second visit to rainbow sushi and the same thing happened to my party and my group. We get seated perfectly but once we order we are stuck waiting forever, I’ve watched 10 different tables gets food multiple times while my party waited. Then our hibachi came out cold twice. The second time we sent it back. We aren’t trying to be a problem. We’re just hungry people who enjoy all we eat sushi and hibachi. I want to like this place but they’re making it extremely difficult. It also just sucks we end up ordering extra food that we can’t finish due to waiting for long. Then want to charge me for the pieces I couldn’t finish because it took too long as well with never getting a refill on our drinks. Even after we waved someone down.

This food was amazing! We went at a slow time and had excellent service and an amazing dinner. This is a classic sushi buffet so I don’t recommend ordering out, you should definitely eat in! According to the other reviews, it sounds like this place could do with a bigger location, but they were walking distance from our hotel so I’m grateful they were there. It wasn’twhen we went. Highly recommend!!

came with a group on a Sunday evening, staff claimed to have no idea another member of our group had two days prior made a reservation. okay, NBD;
but: service was cold and distant, and only 3 of 8 initial drink orders returned correct. banquette seats & tabletops were greasy and clearly haphazardly wiped. incredibly slow to get anything from kitchen or sushi chef(s). plates were presented by 3 of 4 wait staff who could not speak clear English, making distributing orders frustratingly confounding. most stir fry was bland and oily, generally overdone. most "specialty rolls" were overly sauced. no one offered us condiments save for a nearly empty bottle of soy on the table, and none of the plates came with wasabi or pickled ginger. forget getting a drink refill- a couple of us went to our vehicles to drink bottled water then reluctantly return.
the escolar was decent and there's a cool mural inside. soups were okay.
probably a good place to bring a date before breaking up, or maybe to rekindle a spark with newly discovered mutual disgust in deciding to eat here.

Terrible experience, wait times were long when not even busy. Had a hair in my food and the server did nothing about it after i told him. Will not be coming back ):

Very Poor service experience. There is one male waiter who is extremely rude and unprofessional. Food was ok. I do not think you should be charged for something you did not like. I would not recommend this place at all. I rather to a non all you can eat for better customer service

This all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant is… you must have patience when you eat here. Service is VERY slow. You’ll get the WRONG orders 4/5 times. You have to battle 15 other tables just to get a refill of your drink.
Did I mention, this place is VERY tight. Tables are very close together, to get the maximum amount of diners into the same room at once. The tables are separated, yes, but you’re still so close to other tables, they may as well be community tables. Enjoy making awkward eye contact with people.
But, hear me out, the food is decent.. when you get what you ordered, on time, fresh and hot, it’s not bad.
If they could just have a better system for delivering the food to the tables and maybe more than 3 chefs preparing the food, this place could be very good.

I used to super enjoy this place but a couple of months back they switched brands of wasabi and now it’s some neon green mess. I suspect they had a sushi chef quit or transfer too because around the same time, the nigiri rice is packed too tight. Comes out like sashimi on a golf ball.
The tea has always been weakish but you probably wouldn’t notice if you drink sweet tea. If you order unsweet you’ll notice.
The staff is nice though. I’m just guessing the sushi chef doesn’t eat his own product though.

Food is decent but took forever and half the items we ordered never came.

So my sister and I went for dinner and the service wasn’t great. We actually watched them drop our food off to the wrong table, the people touched it and then realized it wasn’t theirs and then the server brought it to our table. We got stuff we didn’t order and didn’t get stuff we ordered. Wouldn’t go back.

Wasn't thrilled that we had to fill out a sheet of what we wanted. Waiters didn't tell us. Did not like the left over food charge. Otherwise, it was a decent place to have sushi!

This place is a hit-or-miss. My ticket was taken and it took over 20 minutes I had to ask the status of the 2 orders. It looks like it was missed placed.

we came here bc the normal sushi place we go to is closed, we got here about an hour before it closed and handed our tickets in well before 9 (close time) they took over 40 mins to make the food and then told us they wouldn’t make us anymore food because we didn’t give them our tickets 25 mins before closing time (which they never told us). so we spent over 160, for each person to get about 4 mediocre at best sushi roles. paying for all you can eat and then barley getting any food is crazy.
not to mention we had like 6 different plates of food delivered to us that we didn’t even order.
the food isn’t bad tho it’s just we expected all you can eat.

It was our first time at this restaurant. And at the time we didn’t know it but it was our waiters first time too. If you’re not familiar with Rainbow Sushi it’s all you can eat for $19.99 per person during the week. We didn’t know that either. We ordered hot tea, shrimp, rice, clear soup and a couple sushi items (3-4 pieces each). The shrimp and sushi were very good. We didn’t eat much and thought it pricey and didn’t plan to ever go back. On our way out the owner came to us and asked how many of us ate because he wondered why we didn’t order much and after I explained how we didn’t understand the process he apologized and refunded us $20. So that is awesome! Totally changed my review from 3 to 5 stars! Thank you for great customer service.

Came in with my family for date night. My sister and her husband with their 2 year old and my husband and I with our 5 year old. Kids always want what their parents want even when they are not hungry. So you feed them a small piece of steak or a bite of your rice. And then they wanted to charge me for a Meal he never actually had. Didn’t even have anything but water. When I said he didn’t really have food because he picked off of mine. They charged me anyways and said that’s just how it is. Ridiculous. Didn’t even get any kind of discount or did they even try to act like they cared. Horrible service. I can’t believe I actually went through that.

Amazing food. Sushi is made fresh and there are hibachi choices for my hubby who doesn't like sushi. Service is great.

This place is VERY YUMMY ! We normally go every Sunday for lunch date, I love the fact that it’s one standard price and you can try all kinds of things . Only complaint I have is it can get tight in there when they are busy, not enough room to sit away from people . I don’t like being right next to others, aside from that we love them !

All they give you- not all you can eat. Had multiple members wait over an over for the first order and no one got their full food order. Left hungry and disappointed

I really enjoy this place. I am writing this while here on my 4th straight weekend. It's roomy, comfortable, the staff is attentive, and above all the food is great.

Very very tasty! We were new to the area and looking for a go to sushi spot that was reasonably priced for all you can eat (around 35 for two + 1 soda). Their lunch menu is the best bang for your buck.
Relatively small place so call beforehand if you have a large group. There can also be slight confusion when trying to figure out which rolls were which. The waiters also lose track so if you really like one write it down beforehand so you remember.
Favorite rolls:
Angel roll
Green dragon roll
Mango roll
Dynamite roll
Awesome roll

I don't understand why this restaurant would have any negative reviews. They are quick and have a very clean, comfortable atmosphere. The food was delicious! We had lots of sushi, dumplings, spring rolls, hibachi, soup, noodles, tempura and more and everything was top notch and fresh! I can't wait to return! Finally a good AYCE sushi spot in Jacksonville! Thank you 😊

Chill, little AYCE Sushi/Hibachi place. You get a double sided menu with like 40 options and a regular and premium section. Fill out little papers for 8 options (4 from the kitchen / 4 from the sushi bar) at a time.
Servers are quick and efficient at clearing plates, taking order slips, and moving food out of the kitchen. Cooks are churning order after order with little delay.
No complaints. This style of place isn't for everyone. Food takes a little longer and portions are smaller per item but the quality and presentation is good for the value. Would recommend for a chill lunch or dinner.
