Flame Sushi Japanese Grill & Ramen

Let me start by saying, I don’t have a photo of the soft shell crab. Why, you ask? Because it was so delicious, it never stood a chance. It was like a deep-fried dream that disappeared faster than my willpower at an all-you-can-eat buffet. If there’s a crab heaven, this one got there early and was sent back to us in golden, crispy perfection.

Then, we ventured into the roll section of the menu and met two absolute rockstars: the Pink Lady Roll and the Pikachu Roll. These weren’t just sushi rolls—they were sushi goals. I mean, we travel all over the state chasing sushi greatness, and these rolls just bodied the competition. The Pink Lady Roll was elegant, sassy, and addictive—basically the Audrey Hepburn of sushi. The Pikachu Roll? Pure electric bliss. I half-expected it to yell, “Pika Pika!” before zapping me with a lightning bolt of flavor.

If sushi were a sport, Flame Sushi would be the championship team. The vibe, the flavors, the sheer audacity of how good this place is—it’s unforgettable. Do yourself a favor and go, but fair warning: You’ll be ruined for mediocre sushi forever.

Five stars isn’t enough for Flame Sushi, but alas, Yelp won’t let me set the sushi world on fire.

First time here, the staff, our server very friendly and informative. I did the vegetable Ramen. Plenty of noodles. Very filling, even took some home. Had the fried cheesecake to go, nice hard shell and creamy goodness inside.

THIS IS MY NEW FAV!!!! I honestly want to be stingy and not tell anyone about this restaurant, but it’s so freaking good not to tell everyone!!! From the service to the food, everything is TOP TIER. My husband & I decided to dine in because we wanted a cocktail, my person fav was the lemon drop! (by the way , they cocktails were made to perfection & I only needed ONE drink 🤭 thanks to our waitress and bartender— Taylor! She was amazing , friendly and patient with the customer service of an ANGEL!) Okay back to the food. We’ve been ordering take out 2-3x a week that’s how good and FRESH, OMG THE FRESHNESSS! You can tell that they cook this food with love & great intentions! I’m vegetarian, so I usually order Veggie Jap. Fried Rice & my fav Veggie Combo Roll add cream cheese w/ spicy mayo & eel sauce on top. *chefs kiss*. Everything is reasonably priced, which I love! Vegetarian options which I love! Lunch specials throughout the week! We just found out about Flame Sushi 2weeks ago after leaving my husbands work and I’m so happy we did! I’ll never eat Japanese anywhere else bc my food has been consistently GOOD here…everytime !!

Yum yum yum! I've eaten here 3 times, once in the restaurant and twice to go. The prices are really good and the food is great. They have lunch specials 6 days a week which is nice since I usually only get restaurant food on Saturdays. My go-to has been the 3-roll lunch special, only $16. And there's almost 40 rolls you can choose from I think. Really good deal and the rolls have been delish. Pictures are of two of the lunch hibachi meals and the sushi is the rock and roll and also a house special roll.
Today I tried the hibachi for the first time and it was amazing but I didn't feel there was a whole lot of seafood. Maybe that's because it was a lunch version?? Staff has been super friendly each visit. Love that I can order online and pick up without waiting. Highly recommend for many reasons. 😊

This is my go-to spot for sushi now. They have the best miso soup I've ever had the pleasure of tasting, and they make the wasabi in house, from scratch.

The mango sushi is the best mango sushi I've had, and they have plenty of unique sushi options. I decided to be experimental tonight and ordered the Pikachu sushi.

Ok, let me articulate my love for their miso soup more. They make it in house, it has an incredibly strong miso flavor that makes normal places taste watered down, there's plenty of seaweed and nice, chunky tofu pieces. If they ever shut down I would be very sad, as no other miso soup I have ever had in my years of living compares. I will go out of my way to pick up a quart of miso soup to take home, and I say it's multiple servings, but a couple of times I've devoured all 32oz in minutes. If you are a miso lover, this will CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

I really enjoyed everything about this place. I used the spicy oil to add some heat to my Ramen. I wanted it even hotter but I still found myself devouring the food. Had to remind myself to breathe.

Don’t let the front facade fool you. The inside is clean and neat. Food came out beautiful and delicious. We had crab rangoons(homemade),steak ramen, steak hibachi, and two sushi rolls. Would recommend.

Average. Not the worst we ever had but definately nowhere near the best. We tried the lunch sushi and a hibatchi. The sushi was not bad, the hibatchi on the other hand was very bland and kinda dry. The shrimp sauce is kept out... we prefer it cold bit it was better than just soy which was the only flavor of everything. It was kinda disappinting but we didn't get sick. So cheap and easy to add some decent flavor that it would make a difference.

Stopped by here for lunch and was not disappointed! The service was incredible from the moment we walked it. David our server, was friendly and attentive. Chicken Hibachi was great and a large portion for the lunch price (approx $12!). Great happy hour offerings as well for apps and drinks! Will be stopping by again!

I had high hopes for this place but it turned out underwhelming. Food was really under seasoned. The fish tempura was very fishy, the lobster was rubbery and the crab meat was not fresh. It took forever for the ramen to come out. It came out at the end of our meal. We were disappointed with the food quality.

Dont know why there are so many 4 and 5 star reviews. I'm eating this place's food as we speak, either their having an off night or there chef needs more training...this food is not good. Yukiudon, fried rice, among various sushi orders with bad avocado. I ended up throwing a bunch of seasoning on it to help it. Hopefully they read this and get better. I see the potential here and would like a place with good sushi.

We decided to try out Flame Sushi when I was craving a good ramen. Between the ramen, sushi ( for hubby) and katsu (daughter) everything was on point. The tonkotsu broth was the best I’ve ever had. The pink lady was fresh with just the right amount of heat. And the katsu cutlet was both a large portion and perfectly fried, not too dry or oily like at other places.
Highlight of the night was at the end of the meal when our amazing and awesome waitress, Arianna , found out her name was the same as our daughter’s! (It’s not a popular adult name.)
Flame Sushi is a wonderful spot for relaxed dining. Price is right for the portion size. (Large!) We had to take left overs home, which was definitely ok.
FYI, the ramen reheats surprisingly well. No mushy noodles or weird oily broth/taste.
We can’t wait to go back!

Great staff, atmosphere, and food. My timing was perfect, being 1 of the 2 tables seated for an early dinner and it was nice to be able to hang out and have a conversation with the staff.
Had to come back and still great. Sushi tasted now next is a Shrimp Tempura Ramen bowl. I'm sure I will completely enjoy then too.

This is the best place in florida that I've tried. went with my dad brother and my grandma, and the food was delicious. And the owner is so kind I got fish cake To go which is not on the menu. This place has Ramen and sushi. It was also quiet. I love this place for sure coming back

Owner of the store Kevin killed my imaginary friend, Jeff, with a super sick pimped out potato gun loaded with perfectly seasoned ramen eggs over an episode of Demon Slayer but the sushi is beautiful and tastes amazing, the hibachi is always on point and the ramen makes you feel like you're eating at ichiraku!! 10/10 would eat here again!

Ordered online and picked up my order on-site. The man at the front counter was very polite. Suggesting we come back if we liked the food. Unfortunately, we will not be ordering from them again based on food quality.

The food was plain and cold. They followed the instructions I placed for the food to a "T" but the food tasted empty. I ordered for a lot of people and had a pick-up set for a later time so they wouldn't have to rush to make the order. We arrived a little early before the pick-up time. We live 3 minutes away so the food being cold was unacceptable.

The sushi was probably the most disappointing part of the whole meal. The sushi was supposed to be deep-fried, which, it was. But because it sat for so long, the sushi was soggy. I'm assuming they made the order immediately and didn't realize the time delay on the order cause it made the sushi inedible.

Not to mention the noodles that were in the meal that were not mentioned in the meal discretion? Awful tasting in my personal opinion. I'm not sure what they are called but when I figure it out, I'll make sure they are never in my take-out again.

TLDR

Maybe an "In-dining" experience would have been different. But ordering ahead and taking the food back home was a mistake I'm not making again when it comes to this place.

The inside of the building looked nice but I can't comment on a dine-in experience here when I haven't had one.

Got it delivered. This is a $8 California Roll and a $17 lobster feast roll. I’m surprised it came like this and I would say too small for that much. Taste was okay. Not much/at all mayo or eel sauce.

This might be our new sushi place! I remember when this space was Woody’s BBQ which was great, but then it was another bbq place that was terrible. I’m glad it’s now a sushi restaurant because it’s great! The service was amazing too!

Walking in was really cool with the lanterns and such above you. Then it turned into a regular run of the mill restaurant. I do wish they extended the lanterns a bit.
The food was great aside from the wontons. They seemed slightly under cooked in the middle but the sushi made up for it.
We were the only ones in the store the entire time but was a decent wait to know they made things fresh!
Will be back again!

Delicious!!! Flame Sushi is my new favorite place for Japanese food!! Kevin and Taylor are amazing, and the Chicken Yaki Udon that I had was phenomenal!!! Definitely recommend everyone to come here!!!!

Service was good! Soup was good but the ginger salad didn’t really have a ginger taste to the dressing. Wasn’t awful just was different, sushi was amazing, hibachi was amazing and the shrimp sauce/yum yum sauce was amazing too! Prices were very fair and everything tasted fresh!

Beautiful. They actually look at the notes when you add them to your pick up order, I had asked for eel sauce and spicy mayo. They also added white sauce (and labeled them so I knew what was what) which I never tried before and it was good! I'll be leaving a tip next time I get food to-go from there because of this experience. Wish you could add a tip after you order (since you don't know if it's right or good until after you pick up the food), but it wouldn't let me. They should implement that for their to-go orders so people are more likely to tip. Amazing presentation also, you can tell these chefs know what they are doing! They did forget my crunchy for my clear soup though, but that's okay it was still good.

I only ordered carry-out online, but the staff were super courteous while I waited. They have anime shows playing on TVs over the bar, so they get into making it feel like you're at a restaurant in Japan (which I've lived in for 6 years).
The reason you go to a restaurant is the food. My wife and I had their ramen, and I have to say it is the best I have had outside Japan! I'm excited to return and try some of their other dishes.

The Japanese Fried Rice here is so good. I have only had 2 places in Jacksonville that have good Fried Rice, and this is now on the top of my list. I have also had the Baymeadow roll from here and was happy with the results. Will keep going back! Plus the customer service is very good!

Amazing Japanese restaurant! Went in for lunch with my partner and our toddler, the server Taylor was great and very accommodating, bringing our toddlers food first and she also recommended the krab rangoons which were great. The spring rolls were easily the best I've had. Steak was cooked perfectly and the tuna in the sushi was so fresh and flavorful. Will definitely be making this our usual Japanese spot and recommending anyone to try.

We are sushi lovers. We came here because the ratings were good. Our experience was not. We ate sushi - yellow tail, tuna, salmon, sweet shrimp, and more. The fish was so warm that it may as well have come out of a microwave. Very hard to stomach.

Also, the value is not there. Our bill came out to over $120 for two people. We had no hand rolls or other "expensive" sushi, and no drinks other than 1 small sake and one tea.

We might give them a second for the food quality, but at their prices, we probably won't ve back. We've eaten sushi in Tokyo for less money. This is the most expensive sushi we've ever had in the USA.

My boyfriend and I went as a Saturday night. Right after happy hour but still the pricing was amazing. We had so much food we had no choice but to take it home. The waitstaff/ hosts are all super friendly and nice. Evie was our waitress she was amazing and really made the experience memorable. 10/10 definitely coming back. My husband and our two children stopped in here tonight (Saturday, about 5:20pm) and we were one of only two tables in the entire place. Just wanted to set the stage for the following:

The food at this place was great but the service was **so bad,** it deserves this review. Not only did I have to request every drink refill we received, but the main course came out WAY before our two appetizers - at least 15 minutes - and then our childrens’ two hibachi entrees didn’t come out until we had already finished the main course and the appetizers. (And when the edamame, one of our two appetizers came out, it was cold - luckily our children are not picky eaters because that was their appetizer. My husband and I got the fried potstickers.) We had to share our dishes with our children otherwise they would have been waiting almost a full 20 minutes without food after the main course for my husband and I came to the table. Everything was all out of order and mixed up. Very poor service experience.

If the food hasn’t been great, I would have given it only one star. The service deserves none. For reference, the man in the left of my attached photo was our server. He needs to be retrained.

I chose to get the 3 roll lunch special and HOLY COW!! I got the Spicy Maki, JB roll and the hurricane roll. All of them are absolutely delicious and I would recommend it to anyone I could get to listen! Amazing staff, great atmosphere, definitely a 10/10 :)

Is sushi just sushi? I believe proper and freshness of ingredients is key. Flame does not disappoint. Forgot my Godzilla Roll back at a Hotel the night before and wanted another one so I went here. Was not disappoint at all.

I had an amazing time here, the sushi was amazing and the service was fantastic. I recommend coming here if you love sushi and taking pics of your food. They’ve got so many options, even if you don’t like sushi you’ll love their ramen, and if you love desert I’d recommend their fried cheesecake!!! 10/10 will go again.

This is the second time going the first time we got 3 sushi rolls and steak/salmon hibachi we had no real complaints this second time the roll wasn’t good at all we had to send it track the ramen was bland with no flavor the noodles were soft but nothing to speak about there is plenty of other places way better. The hibachi is the only thing I think we would go back for.

Food was amazing, good portions. I would have preferred maybe a little better nagiri for the 6$ price. Drinks are expensive, get your refills.

Came in on Friday afternoon and they were a bit busy but our server was quick and friendly with everything! Sushi is pretty good and my friend got the teriyaki chicken which she said she liked.

I ordered gouza and the shrimp and scallop hibachi. Everything was barely warm when it came out. The sauce for the gouza tasted like water with a little soy sauce in it. The hibachi vegetables were extremely over cooked and looked slightly brown and mushy. The scallops were slightly overcooked. The clear soup was hot and very tasty.

Came for lunch after shopping at the Dragon Asian Market. All I can say is wow! This is easily the best sushi we've had since moving to Florida in 2019 and that includes many trips to Miami and Fort Lauderdale. The soft shell crab appetizer and the tempura meal were both light and crispy and the Red Dragon Roll was seasoned well... just perfect!

We came here because of the reviews, and it did NOT disappoint! We had a three roll special--2 rock n roll and 1 shrimp tempura. They were sooo good! We also split a lunch steak hibachi. The steak was cooked perfectly. It came with rice and noodles, veggies were crisp! Even the clear soup had a ton of flavor. We had two sauces--spicy mayo and shrimp sauce. Only 'complaint' is that the shrimp sauce was extremely sweet, maybe just tone it down a little. Overall, the food was AWESOME! We will be back! Thank you!

I love this place so much. I love how it is across the street from a Sam’s Club so after a grocery I can stop here and get hibachi. The staff there is so nice and the food is sooo good. This place deserves a 10/10

Flame Sushi on Beach Blvd totally exceeded my expectations! I went on a whim after my Sam's Club run since it's just across the street and I regret nothing. I ordered the quail egg sushi to satisfy my curiosity, the Pink Lady and Green Dragon rolls - the salmon on the Pink Lady was SO buttery and melty that I had to get an order of the salmon sushi added. This is the best sushi grade salmon I've ever had! 🍣 The Yakiudon plate was also very delicious. Would have preferred if the server had asked how I wanted it cooked since the steak was more on the medium to well done side but still very flavorful. Presentation was a nice touch and the prices were VERY reasonable. I'll be coming back for sure!

Found this place on Google and it has great reviews so I decided to check it out, the place looks nice and the food was very fresh and tasty. The staff were super nice and friendly, they gave me some recommendations on sushi rolls and drinks. I tried the sexy salmon app on their Off Menu Items and it was the bomb! I have to say this is my go to Japanese place from now on.

This will definitely be my default sushi spot in Jacksonville now. We had the tuna tataki, gyoza, 3 sushi rolls and the fried cheesecake. Every single thing was delicious and the service was great!

The sushi was the best I’ve ever had and the presentation was beautiful! I forgot to take a picture but will be back again. The atmosphere there was nice and they had anime playing on the tv’s, the server was very accommodating, nice and attentive.

I think I went on a bad day. The place is really nice but my food was not good. Tempura is good. Fried rice tasted dirty like the grill wasn’t cleaned. Noodles were horrid tasting and Over cooked. I got salads where the dressing was rotten!!! I called up there once I seen the dressing was rotten and staff was nice about it and said they would give me a discount on my next order but after tasting everything else I will not go back to this place. I heard sushi is good there tho. Maybe they should ONLY serve sushi. I spent 30$ to throw food away.

Me and my boyfriend came in for date night and we’re served by Darienne, she was the BEST. She had a super nice attitude and got us everything we needed without us asking.
She also helped me with a slight dilemma non-food related, I though that was very kind of her.

Me and my wife stopped in for some sushi cause we didn't feel like cooking. I ordered the Godzilla roll and the Texas roll, off the charts. The staff was super awesome aswell, welcomed us as soon as we walked in the door. Super great place with awesome staff and amazing sushi. Highly recommend stopping in to see these guys.

I had the spicy tuna roll … the tuna was ground up like out of can … which would have more flavor. The other roll was supposed to be smoked salmon again ground… can salmon is flakey… won’t be back.

These review must have been bought. They are most likely fake! The food here is extremely mediocre... the restaurant smells sour even though they say they just opened, sushi doesn't seem fresh and it has a terrible fishy flavor and the ramen is BY FAR the worst I've ever had. The broth is stale, noodles are soft and brittle, the egg is hard, the meat topping was hard...

I expressed my concerns to my waiter who was kind to bring it to the owner, but the owner did nothing.

This place is empty for a reason.

First time at Flame Sushi was a hit! My wife and I were looking for a new sushi spot & are so glad we happened upon this place! The food was to die for, but beyond this, our service was incredible. Athena did everything in her power to make our experience perfect! We will definitely be back!

There's not enough I can say about this place. Best sushi I have EVER had. They might hate me for this, but order the Sexy Salmon. Technically it's not on the menu but they will serve it to you. Comes in 4 pieces. It is easily the best roll of sushi I've ever had. I can't even explain it you'll just have to trust me. Chef is top notch, service and owner top notch. If could give 10 stars I would.

Been here before when it was Monroe's but they did an fantastic job with the renovations it looks awesome. I tried the Chasu Ramen and it was so flavorful and had a strong savory taste to it. Our server Xander was super nice and attentive. The manager Kevin was super helpful since it was my first time here and recommended that i try the ramen and they did not disappoint! This is my new favorite spot.

So glad this place has opened near me! The menu is diverse: wide range of sushi, ramen, hibachi, teriyaki, rice dishes, and a variety of appetizers. I tried as much as I could stand and everything was delicious - my surprise favorite was the Malaysian Roti! The service was fantastic, fast and incredibly friendly. I will absolutely become a regular and can't wait to try some of the things I didn't get to on my first visit.

I went yesterday with my little sister and ordered the miso veggie Ramen for her and a lunch steak hibachi for myself. Everything was great. The food, the atmosphere, the service. We go to a lot of different Japanese spots to try the food, we will be back. I forgot to take pictures because we were in a rush and hungry. They had inuyasha and dragon ball on the TV and a nice bar for drinks and sushi. I'll come back and try some drinks w friends. The little one loved the food and gave it 5 stars as well haha 😄.
