Maybe our third visit ever but it might be our last. The staff working there were great - very friendly. The options seem to have increased but so has the price. $8 for a side of fried rice? All our nearby Japanese steakhouses charge $4-5 max. But each of us got one entree and they were almost $20 each. My fiancé got the poke bowl and she said it tasted off, and I got the hibachi bowl. We waited over 45 minutes for our food and one entree was entirely forgotten and we had to ask them if it was still coming. They made it and brought it out and were super apologetic - no sweat. But it still was rough to arrive around 7 and start eating close to 8 at what is almost a fast casual restaurant. Aside from the poke tasting off, the shrimp and chicken hibachi meal was good but only had maybe four shrimp and no discernible pieces of chicken that weren’t tiny shreds. It was disappointing knowing we could have gone to the nearby Japanese steakhouse and gotten much more food/proteins for cheaper.

I placed an online order of two bowls, a drink, and a side. Email said it would take 17 minutes, so I arrived around that time expecting to wait another few minutes. When I walked up to the register, it took a minute or two for anyone to acknowledge me, and a few employees walked past me in the time. Then I had to wait another 15 minutes for my food (30 min total). When the employee called my name, she saw I was walking over, so she put the food on the counter and walked away without saying anything. Hopefully, the food is good because the service could use some improvement.

Ordered Dan-Dan noodles with tofu through their website. I was so disappointed when I looked at the food but more over the taste was awful. It tasted so bland and kind burnt aftertaste. Only 4 little pieces of tofu in the whole bowl. Noodles were not mixed with sauce n was dried out. It was supposed to be spicy but it was bland. The server behind the till kept doing her work even after seeing me wait there for a few minutes to hand me the box which was lying nest to her.

I have loved coming to bentos for years, the food never disappointed! However this last time was a real let down. My Korean chicken barely had any chicken in it. My husband ordered the Mongolian chicken and it was so incredibly bland. They were nice that they let him get something else however there was barely any meat in that as well. The restaurant was also dirty. Big disappointment cause I’ve always loved this place so it’s sad to see it go downhill so much.

I love this place. The flavor of the food keeps me coming back everytime I’m In Jacksonville. The service at this particular chain, including the one that used to be downtown, has always been slow. The food is well worth the wait, but may not be for you if you are in a hurry on a lunch break. Definitely get the hibachi bowl! Service is okay it’s a quick service restaurant but they do deliver to the table. Price wise it’s a little high for what it is.

The food was great but it comes at a very high price. We got the garlic broccoli bowl with chicken, the hibachi bowl with chicken and steak and a hot and crispy chicken boa bun. Everything was delicious but the two bowls tasted nearly identical. There is not much variation here. The boa was good but it was not soft and steamed it was crispy and fried.

I had the Bento box with Katsu Chicken and Japanese Curry sauce. Katsu Chicken was decent, but curry sauce was flavorless and soup like. Lomein noodles were bland. Rice was rice. The salad was tasty thanks to the dressing. I know I can do better at home because I made Japanese chicken curry just a couple of weeks ago. It was delicious. This meal at Bento left a lot to be desired. The relationship between price, quality/taste, and actual value did not match. I cannot justify paying that amount of money for mediocrity.

He threw my food on the counter causing a loud slamming noise and making an uncomfortable environment. Instead of putting the food in the bag he slid it on the counter back to me! What a joke. That’s so sad because my food was delicious but I will NEVER give my hard earned to an establishment that has PISS POOR SERVICE. I’m paying you all for a service not the other way around. This was our first and last visit to BENTO! It wasn't crowded. We were greeted by a pleasant girl that took our order, this was the only good thing about our experience. My husband received his food fairly quickly, we were not impressed at all with the $15 bowl that lacked flavor and was mostly noodles. I continued to wait over 25 minutes after my husband got his meal and finished it to find out what happened to my $15 sushi roll. After multiple excuses, finally someone said it was given to another customer who ate and was leaving, "It will be ready in 5 minutes". We should have gotten our money back, the sushi roll and the spicy mayo both tasted like processed food. Between their complete lack of customer service and food product we absolutely do not recommend BENTO.

He ordered the orange shrimp and was giving the orange chicken by accident and the young lady apologized a lot and corrected the problem. There were many tables to sit at but they weren't clean and there was still food from the previous customers . It stayed like that for about half an hour, but we found one clean table to sit at.

Waited for an HOUR and still left with no food. After 40 minutes of patiently waiting and seeing others who came in after me get their food i went up to the counter to ask about my order as it seemed to have been forgotten. I stated my order #32 both the girls start looking through all their tickets. They couldn't find it. At that point more people are coming to the counter and complaining about their wait for their drinks and food as well. I had to repeat my order # three times before they even addressed it or told me if it was even coming out at all. At that point I said it's been an hour for ONE poke bowl I just want a refund. They said they would ask the manager. Manager never came out and they never addressed me or the line of others waiting as they continued taking more orders knowing they're beyond backed up. So now I will have to dispute the charge for the food I never recieved. I have never left a negative review of a place before but wow. This place was a mess today. Not to mention it had to have been atleast 80 degrees inside the restaurant. Dont know if the AC was out or what, I was sweating just sitting there.

But above all, they have a manager who is such a bad person who verbally mistreats customers. I think that does not give a good impression to the restaurant. So be very careful. I do not recommend this place.

I will never go back to that place again! It is impossible to leave a good review knowing that there is a manager who treats his client badly and throws them out of the restaurant for simply asking to her why she speaks so badly to me and throws the drink at my table. And the manager herself comes, she didn't know it was her, with a super rude attitude and throws my drink on the table. I asked her in a very good way why she spoke to me so badly. And she kept making some super ugly faces. She stopped me and asked her who the manager is and she told me it's me and I told her why are you talking badly to me and why are you treating me badly. This location needs some help. The restaurant floor was dirty and the tables all had a spotty “schemer” on the top that smelled sour. The booth seats were split and some had been repaired with duct tape. Among the four of us, three received their food albeit different times. We had to get the servers attention from sweeping to check on missing meal since we three were finishing. She put down the broom and dustpan and discovered the food had been sitting on the counter the entire time. No hand washing before serving food. The servers were friendly but the sanitary standards are minimal.

This place has gone so far downhill it is unreal. Half the tables are dirty and still have plates on them. They are out of half of the items on the menu. Tofu noodle bowl took over 30 minutes to come out. And they have music blasting on a speaker in the kitchen.

Do not get a salad Poké bowl here. I got a salad Poké bowl and it barely had any salmon in it. The greens were just lettuce. It did not fill me up and I’m pretty tiny. It cost me $13 and I don’t feel satisfied. I should’ve returned it. If you’re looking for a Poké bowl go to Kazu sushi burrito where it’s just as good and filling for only $10

I haven’t thought much more about it until I was talking to a friend and the same thing happened to her! Definitively a safety issue that hasn’t been addressed after multiple incidents.

They keep making sushi smaller and smaller each year. Quality is not there. They put cheap salat and never put seaweed like back in the day for sushi box. They have cheap machine for drinks now with only small options. I used to come back in the day all the time so I’m familiar with all the food. Really disappointed how they raise the prices but quality and quantity is not there.
Service slow and kind rude. When ever I came here workers look miserable.

I’ve been going to bento for many years their food and service used to be good but my recent visit has changed my opinion. I’m disappointed. This place has gone down hill since the last year. They served udon without any soup or seasoning. But failed to mention that they had changed it from a soup udon to a non soup udon until after I received the order. No signage of any changes or description on the menu. The chicken katsu has no seasoning and did not taste good at all. The worker seem like she did not want to be there and was not customer service friendly.

The miso soup had a funny taste to it. The veggie spring rolls were alright, but on the smaller side. My bento box came out, with the noodles & entree cold and the rice was dry. The salad had very little dressing placed under the salad. And the lady who brought it did not bring me chopsticks or anything to eat it with. I got the shrimp sesame stir fry bento box and the broccoli was laden with soy sauce(overpowering). All of that for almost $30. ⁉️Anyways, today I am stuck in bed with sour~stomach. Will not be returning to this location. The employees stood around looking zombified. They obviously don’t take their jobs seriously and lack food prepping skills.

I would rate the establishment a bit more highly, but every time I have gone there their staff seems to be more busy flirting or socializing than focusing on their job. They have gotten several of our orders wrong or just straight-up forget parts of them. If you get them on a good day, the food is great. However, it has always been a coin toss.

Once AGAIN they are OUT of udon. No matter this location or Riverside. Order better or in advance. This is horrible.

Bento has really gone downhill the past year. Came to this location since the riverside location doesn't have udon noodle soup anymore. The cashier must have not paid attention because both my udon noodle soup and my friends were wrong. I asked for no Bok Choy and Wakame. Mine came with bok choy so they had to fix it. My friend asked for plain noodles since they were out of katsu chicken and he doesn't eat tofu or shrimp. He added a combo with coke and an egg roll They were also out of the Dragon Fruit Lemonade even though they still had a sign up for it. So I just had water and ginger salad for my conbo. I let a team member know and she brought mine back out and it was fine. She said there were problems with the particular cashier who took our order and offered to refund my friend when they were finished with their food. It's sad to say I probably won't be back to either location in the future. There's not many noodle places in town so I go where I can.

Overpriced, underwhelming, not going to come back and not going to recommend.
I would like to start this off with an explanation of how this restaurant works for those who have never been. Mainly, because it is a reason which contributed to losing a star. This is a place where you pick where you sit, get our own drinks, your own utensils, menus, and have to pay for sauce. Similar to a fast food restaurant. You only go to talk to the employee at the counter when you are ordering. Now personally I don’t think this relieves those employees of common customer service. There were three employees that my party saw and two we talked too. The two we spoke with both had attitudes and rude tones. We got about $85 worth of food and they expected a tip. As someone who has worked in the food industry, these girls did nothing to deserve a tip. Even if they had been nicer with answering the questions we asked later they still were putting in little to no work more than a fast food employee and if I can’t tip a McDonald’s worker I’m not tipping here.
My second and third star were both lost with the food. One of my party members got a stir fry and white rice bowl that was 1/4 stir fry and 3/4 rice. That was 13 dollars. My party member wished he could have had fried rice but it’s an additional $4.5 for fried rice. That’s ridiculous. Another party member and I got miso soup. Priced fine at $4 but it was quite a bit more salty than a typical miso. We often frequent establishments with miso and try them the soup. There’s was super salty I don’t know why. My other party member felt as though the seaweed was especially fishy as well. We got three rolls 2 of their $16 rolls. They really weren’t anything special I would honestly consider them overpriced. And I got a bento box with red curry tofu. $16. And I got 8 green beans. I wish I would have taken a picture. If you look at others reviews you’ll see the minuscule amount of green beans they give you. It’s sad cause the garlic green beans were actually very good! But the noodles you get taste like they’ve been sitting for two hours. The salad was salad. My coconut curry was good nice taste good veggies. It’s one downfall is that the tofu is fried. It’s not mentioned anywhere in the menu that the tofu is fried. I don’t like fried tofu… I wouldn’t have gotten tofu had I known it were fried.
Overall, wasn’t a good time.

I have been here a few times now. Honestly I want to give better marks, but it's just an ok place for lunch or dinner. The stir fry options are quite good, but the fish, not so much. The "Classic" rolls are quite small, smaller than 'store sushi,' and the rice has been stale more than once. The specialty rolls are of decent size, but seem to all include tempura. Which is fine if you like that sort of thing. I am used to California and Hawaii sushi, so maybe I am being unreasonable, but I want my food not just tasty, but fresh and presented well.

TLDNR: If you want sushi - hard pass. If you are after a pretty good stir fry, then go ahead and come on in.

Today was not a great day for Bento’s reputation, no sushi, no pad thai, dirty tables, dirty bathrooms and a rude cashier. They opened about 10 minutes ago. All we ask is that you do better or punch out of the business.

Had to update, the food we did order came out cold. I loved this restaurant but will choose to spend my money elsewhere. Sad day…

Little pricey for fast food sushi. Was lame that when I asked for shrimp and spicy Mayo sauce after I ordered 3 rolls and they would only give me s choice of one, per company policy as I was informed. Even after they expect a tip with the automatic tip option on the register and then you give them a 20% tip before service and have to beg for more than one choice of sauce for your sush not be showed it unless they charge you more. Don't be cheap Bento when your banking it on over priced fast food sushi. I love the food that's the only reason I'm giving it 2 stars instead of the 1 star it deserves, just saying. C'mon man. Can i at least get my 20% tip back. JEEZ

Leaving a 2 star review just due to the inconvenience of advertising contactless payment on doors and a small board on the terminal where orders are placed but it doesn’t work and have to bring my physical card just for the transaction to be completed. If contactless payment doesn’t work take it off the doors, windows, and terminal. Also the reason to no contactless payment was “it locks all the terminals in every bentos and it’s been 3 months with this issue” been at the riverside location last week and work perfectly fine for contactless payment. Might just go to bentos on riverside more often.
