Rock N Roll Sushi

The atmosphere is quite amazing, but the quality and quantity of the food is below par. I have some recommendations to improve the restaurant: 1. Improve Sushi Techniques (Sushi Rolls easily fell apart and Sashimi Rolls were irregular shaped and really small in size), 2. Improve Ingrediants in Fried Rice Dish (the rice tasted that it came out of Uncle Ben's Rice Box), and 3. Provide more Rolls in Sushi Rolls and Fried Rice. The portions were so quite small for the price. After spending $57.99, I didn't order round of food because of the quality and quantity of food. If management makes these improvements, I will more likely to return to the Restaurant.

Our first time in.
Think we caught them on bad day due to the oven being broken and being out of chicken. Also, the vegetables with the hibachi could have been cooked more they were pretty raw but everything has good flavor and the steak wasn't chewy like it is at some hibachi places.
Our server was Kimberly she was very nice, she recommended the Punk Rock Roll so I ordered it and I was very impressed!! Everything here was very good. I would recommend.

I’ve been to 6 sushi restaurants now in Gainesville and this one is probably the best sushi place to take your friends to in the area. This is not a classic sushi experience, but instead a unique take and style that really does feel rock and roll. Note if you’re not a deep fried with a bit of a kick person you’ll have issues with this menu, but if you’re looking for a cool place to chill and eat wings but actually sushi you’ve found the place. The menu items are all very well themed with a neon rock atmosphere. My server (Selina I think - I have a dumb memory) was super nice and lighthearted. The portions were very filling and even the classic rolls were futomaki size with sauce on top.
10/10 would recommend for people sick of Buffalo Wild Wings or just looking for a good time with some good sit down sushi.

Great experience. We had edamame, wontons, the Pyro roll, the Sunset Strip roll, and the Spicy Shrimp roll. Everything was delicious. Service was fantastic. Booths and tables, not a huge place. Music was good and not too loud. Not a ton of parking out front, but can park behind the place and walk. Would definitely eat here again.

Sushi were just ok. Nothing special. The place has a unique vibe with older music videos playing. Definitely worth trying if you are in the area and feel like sushi, but don’t go out of your way for this.

Great experience all around. We ordered the Volcano Roll and the Tourbus Roll and they were fantastic. The atmosphere was awesome and I loved that the music was not so loud that you could still carry a conversation. Our server Jose was also great and super attentive.

My first time going to this restaurant I am absolutely Blown Away the '80s just came back with vengeance and I was so emotional being that the eighties was my teen years I enjoyed it so much it was really nice to take in the ambience. Apart from the food that was amazing I didn't think I was going to fill up so I kept asking for things I went with my daughter my son and my two granddaughters and we had an amazing experience the server we had Miss Kimberly was very attentive very thorough made sure we were okay actually explain some of the specialty sushis which I appreciate because it gave me another role a new role to look forward to tasting and I will be back I love the service I love the ambience and especially I loved the food it was great keep up the good work guys!

Seriously high quality sushi! Would try a different roll over and over and over again. Wish I had pictures to show but the presentation is always too pretty to wait for a photo. They have really reasonable lunch bento deals as well.

coming from a sushi lover, I was very sad to feel inclined to come and write a negative review this restaurant. I often find myself at sushi restaurants due to my pescatarian diet which makes it easy for me to get an array of items. I had ordered from this restaurant through doordash, and received my food in a timely manner which was a happy surprise! although it seemed to end there.
to my surprise, my $20 sushi roll had pieces of clear wrap which unfortunately I hadn’t noticed til my 2nd or 3rd bite. okay, mistakes are made and thankfully I had a backup plan (or so i thought). I had also ordered their vegetable hibachi, which was decorated with steak, meaning because of my dietary restrictions I was unable to touch the dish. While it may have been a pleasant surprise for some, it meant my now almost $40 meal was inedible. Very disappointed and won’t be returning to this establishment.

Absolutely horrible sushi restaurant when it comes to food, however had some pretty good service (other than the 30 minute wait for our food). Only good thing food wise was the Crab Rangoon. The Negeri portion ratio was horrible. Literally half a tablespoon of rice and the thinnest piece of fish you could imagine which also tasted like straight chlorine and chemicals. I got the sweet home Alabama roll aswell which flavor wise I would give a 5/10, however again the portion size was horrible. $16 for the smallest roll you will ever find out of a sushi restaurant. Overall an overpriced place with bad food.

I’ve been to 6 sushi restaurants now in Gainesville and this one is probably the best sushi place to take your friends to in the area. Our first time in.

If I could give this place a 0 stars I would. Terrible service. Nobody attended to us for over an hour and a half. Food was not up to par and the servers ignored us. I definitely do not recommend. Servers were also sitting on their phones very un attentive.

Filet mignon was not bad, tender enough to be medium rare as I requested. But the sushi dish was suboptimal. Tuna was not fresh enough, and cream cheese was placed on the dish which was not marked on the menu. It’s kinda of a concern for people with allergies.

Genuinely one of the least impressive restaurants I’ve been to in Gainesville, waited 30 minutes for 2 rolls when they were empty. While it’s hidden from the outside, I definitely recommend stopping by. The sushi was great and they had tons of new rolls I have never seen or tried before. They also have other options like bowls. It’s themed on the inside towards Rock and Roll, obviously. Service and atmosphere were great.

Not gonna lie, touch skeptical at first with the rock 'n roll gimmick. Once I ordered, the food was outstanding! The food was a step above your standard sushi restaurant.

I ordered the appetizer sampler with the lunch combo of a spicy shrimp roll with fried rice, simple. Wrong, more than simple. First off, chicken fried rice should not be allowed to be that good. Oh man! The roll was incredible. The sampler had two grilled dumplings. Grilled!! That were great. Jalapeno poppers with crab meat in it, terrific. Wontons with their made in house filling was great. The egg rolls were not filled with cabbage. Granted, some, but mostly meat. Those were great as well. All-in-all, it blew my mind. I will definitely be going back.

Price wise, going back to my skeptical brain, I thought was a touch high. I thought atmosphere and such, lots of TV's and playing music (not too loud either so you can have a conversation with someone) but after having the food, worth every penny. After it was all said and done, after tip, I left with only spending $40. Touch high for a lunch/dinner, but definitely worth it in the end. Definitely going back.

Added note: The nice young lady that was my server, Abby, was incredible. She gave me time to look at the menu, answered all my questions with a smile, didn't hover like some servers at other places, and was quick to come by and check if I needed anything. 10/10. I'll be looking to sit in her section the next time I cometo get something to eat.

Abby our server was fantastic. She was very attentive and helpful for our first time here. We ordered appetizer sampler, tuna roll, salmon roll, VIP roll and a Volcano roll. All were great. I absolutely loved the VIP roll was out of this world! Whoever thought of putting crawfish on a sushi roll is genius. The flavor was outstanding. I’ve never been at such a cool sushi restaurant before. Gainesville is known for the good food and artistic atmosphere; let’s just say this restaurant definitely fits the standard. The food is SO good. If you’re a big crab fan, this is THE place to go to. The service too is so great. The servers have a nonstop smile that really brightens your day. The inside is super cool and artistic with a rock and roll style. Great prices for the amount of sushi we got. Definitely will be coming back here!!!!

The food tastes like sushi made for people who don't like Japanese food. Miso tastes old, rolls were poorly constructed, fried rice tasted like it was straight from Pf Chang's. Also, my partner was given smoked salmon instead of sushi-grade salmon. Staff were very kind however. It looks appetizing in pictures, but is not. Go somewhere else if you're craving sushi

Went here for dinner multiple times. Had Luca as our server most of those times and honestly it was the best service I've ever received. Friendly attitude, superb food (delivery times and overall wait time), and just overall felt like longtime friends. I highly recommend Rock 'n' Roll Sushi for any type of meal and for it's amazing atmosphere and super friendly staff! Will come again soon!

Very slow service. Might just do pickup if I ever order from here again. Kinda pricey for a sushi that’s mediocre. I could only see shrimp tempura mostly listed on the cooked rolls. Great atmosphere tho. I guess the price is high cause of the ambience maintenance too.

Our waitress was constantly in the drink corner laughing and joking with other employees. We had been waiting for quite a while to order when she proceeded to another table where she promptly took their order, submitted it, and returned to chat with them as we continued to wait. We were forgotten about multiple times to the point we had to ask another employee for assistance. The waitresses poor service ruined the experience. We will not be returning.

I ordered the third stage nachos and the shrimp and “grilled lobster “ were barely there. The crispy wonton tasted like pure oil. The cocktails were poorly made and tasted like nothing described either.

The poke bowl wasn't what I'm used to. No rice. Poke wasn't cut in cubes, but thin slices of only a small amount of fish. The rest was salad. The "poke" salad bowl took about 45 minutes to get to our table. The menu has very few pictures so it's hard to know what to order if you haven't been there before. I don't think we'll be back, honestly. Nice people though. Cool ambiance.

I first visited this restaurant early 2023 and quickly became a regular. For starters, the food is incredible. My partner and I tried different things every time we went but also developed our own favorites. There is a lot of variety when it comes to the sushi and it's very easy to add or remove any ingredient. There's raw fish, baked rolls, fried rolls, seaweed alternatives and there's even a gluten free menu, as well as vegetarian options!

What sold me the most on this place though, was the staff. It was refreshing to see that most of the staff were around my age, but still took their jobs seriously. The menu can be overwhelming at first glance, but all of my questions were answered by the staff. I never had to ask for a refill or wait on sauces because everyone at this place works together.

I was previously out of state, and my partner and I made it a point to visit Rock N' Roll every time I was in town. It was one of my first experiences eating in Gainesville and to this day remains my favorite spot in town. Not that long ago, I made the move and started looking for jobs. I applied to Rock N' Roll on a whim because of my positive experiences with the place and I'm proud to say that I'm now a part of the team.

I ordered from this place via Uber eats. The food was delicious, however we were a little disappointed with the ginger salad that we paid $5 each for. It was literally nothing but iceberg lettuce with a side of dressing. For $5 I expect at least some carrots or cucumber or something other than lettuce.
They didn't include soy sauce with our sushi either, which we found odd.
Our sushi was delicious and so was the homemade ginger dressing, they just need to step it up on the salad ingredients because iceberg lettuce is not a salad.

The food here is very mid, and the prices are way too high for the quality. The aesthetic is cool and the service was good. Decent for a casual sushi experience, but truly nothing special.

Only group (3) in there on a week night and there were more people working. It took an hour from time of order to get our food. No water refills. Pretty bad service. Maybe it was an off night?

The wontons, sushi, and dessert were all presented very nicely and tasted delicious. Everything was really fresh! I loved the guitars hanging on the walls. The servers were really friendly and had really good recommendations. It's not exactly traditional Japanese sushi; it's been Americanized. My husband and I went in expecting that and had a great time! I would recommend going here if you aren't sure.

If I could give negative 100 I would…sushi was very plain…they have fancy pics but totally trash. Service from server to manager sucked. Server was asked to bring us teriyaki sauce & extra ginger. Never said it would be an up charge for anything. Then brought the check and surprise $8.00 for a bowl of sauce & ginger. When we asked her she sent the manager over & manager is a young girl saying well it’s obvious there’s a charge for sauce!!! Ummmm where is that noted???? Very rude and bad sushi!!! Don’t waste your time or money.

My first time here and Our table order a few things. Everything was good and fresh. All the rolls we tried were amazing. My favorite was the crowd surfer roll. I would definitely eat here again when I'm visiting Gainesville.

This was a nice little vibe! First off , I’m just happy they were open as some sushi places don’t open until 5pm. This place is open from 11a-10p. They have a good mix of cooked and raw sushi choices. They also have some combos available for select rolls that include miso and salad.

I had the British Invasion and it was amazing!!! This roll is great if you like cooked sushi but also included smoked salmon so you kind of got the taste of raw. Large roll circumference with 8 pieces. I finished off with a ginger lime spritz (12 oz).

The atmosphere was great. It was clean. Nicely decorated. The bar has really comfy chairs with arms. It didn’t feel crowded at all. PLUS they have tap to pay. Overall, reasonably priced sushi in my opinion.

First visit, got take-out. I was invited to have a seat and asked if I'd like a glass of water while I waited for my order. The gentleman was very nice to answer any of my questions about the menu. The food was very fresh and the Ahi and Salmon salads were very good. My husband enjoyed the nigiri. The fried rice is also delicious. As with any sushi restaurant, it takes trying a few rolls to find your favorite. The restaurant is, of course, all Rock & Roll theme and really eclectic & funky. Fun place!

Absolutely FIRE! Every time we go, I can’t pick a specific roll that is my fav but i will say my most ordered roll is the AXL hands down, but the flawlessness doesn’t end there the rice is amazing the egg rolls always come hot and packed with flavor, the stage divers (chicken) with all the different sauce choices. I love Rock N Roll Sushi please never change.

Cool atmosphere (if you like 80's-90's rock). Service was good. Food was good. Not a place for 'traditional' sushi. They only have the basic few fish (salmon, tuna, yellow tail). Nearly all the rolls have cream cheese and are based on the California roll. So very basic from a sushi-lover perspective.. but still good if you're ok with that.

We came to this place because a friend of my son recommended. Everything was amazing. The food, the service I didn't give this place 5 stars because the place had a bad odor.We asked what it was and they said is the acetone from next door they have a nail place next to it. We have to go outside and eat. But anything else was super. The management need to do something about this. I feel sorry for the people that work there

The service here is always top notch, and we love the food here. HOWEVER: There's a certain political presence here that's shoved in your face in the name of PRIDE and my family and I don't appreciate it. We come here for sushi, good food and vintage music videos - NOT POLITICS. I don't care what 2 adults do in the bedroom, let's eat hibachi instead. 😋

I didn't expect the sushi to be so good, the VIP roll blew me away, as did the headbanger shrimp! The atmosphere is pretty unique for a sushi place. Not a huge menu for non-sushi items but if you're on the fence, a deep fried roll is usually a safe bet for the timid sushi beginner.

On our first visit we (wife and I) were very happy with our choice of eateries! The food was excellent in flavor, cook level, temp, sauces, and presentation. The service was awesome, fast, friendly, and helpful. The atmosphere was a bit oppressive to us (since we're older folks), from the load music, flashing color-changing lights, but we understand that's the design of this restaurant. However, there was a noticeable chemical (non-food) odor that I (husband) immediately noticed, but was able to get used to after a bit for our dine-in dinner. Overall we do recommend this eatery.

We ordered take out from Rock N Roll Sushi, and quite frankly, we were left wondering what all the hype is about. The rolls (Reggae Roll, Good Times Roll and Prima Donna Roll) and miso soup were very bland and disappointing for the price point.

If I did a blind taste test between Rock N Roll Sushi and Publix sushi, I’m not confident that I could tell the difference.

There’s definitely better sushi places in the area for the money.

Stopped here for take out on our way to visit family in Tennessee. The kids wanted Chick-fil-A but my husband and I wanted something other than fast food. I searched the map and this place had great reviews and I could order ahead while we were driving on I-75. Ordering on their website was super easy and the food was ready when they said it would be so we didn’t have to wait.
We ordered the hibachi chicken. The serving size was generous and it was DELICIOUS! A very satisfying meal. Wish we had a location closer to us. Highly recommend!

This place Rocks!! Great rock/metal music playing, awesome atmosphere and the food is delicious! I got the spicy sashimi salad and it was gorgeous and yummy! The servers are very kind and checked on our table many times to make sure we were all good. 10/10! Can be a bit pricey but for the tastiness of the food it's worth it 🙏

We had the best experience ever. I am vegan and the chef created this absolutely amazing vegan dragon roll for me. Other food was great as well. Our waiter Taryn was fantastic.

We heard that this spot opened recently but had not visited yet. We had the opportunity to take part in the food festival at celebration pointe on 5/27 and they were there with the biggest crowd of the event. We tried the 3 rolls they were offering and were convinced to make a trip. The place is brand new and it rocks! We were delighted to have Amaya as our waitress and she was perfect. Very knowledgeable about each and every menu item. She made recommendations and knew everything about the event we attended. We wanted to try a bunch of different things so we got edamame and an appetizer sampler with egg rolls, jalapeño poppers and more. We had the same 3 rolls from before which were the Punk Rock roll, Good Time roll and the Crowd Surfer roll. We also tried the VIP roll, Sunset Strip and a spicy tuna roll. Personally everything hit the mark. I want to call out a few though. Firstly, the Punk Rock is want got my attention at the event and a full roll was amazing. The balance with strawberries, avocado and jalapeños on top was just an incredible combination. I did thoroughly enjoy the VIP which we got fried. The Cajun crawfish sealed the deal for me on this one. I have to also say the sampler was a great choice to get a variety of great options especially worth trying the jalapeño poppers. The ambience was super good with rock music videos playing on the TV’s including personal ones at certain tables. There’s beer, wine and sake. I highly recommend this place and will be returning every time we hit up Gainesville.

Very impressed! Our server was Alonda, she is one of the managers and is such a kind person. The wontons are the best that I have ever had, they weren’t greasy and were stuffed with filling! My family got the VIP roll, jam sesh roll, Velcro pygmies roll, and the punk rock roll. The brownie was to die for! The atmosphere is great and cool. Everything is very clean, especially the bathrooms. My grandparents love it here and now so do I!

We got the spicy shrimp sushi roll, the appetizer platter, and rice. All of the food was amazing. The service was extremely friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was so nice. Every song was my favorite song.
