Normally, when my family and I eat in the food is most perfect and delicious. However, pick-up/take-out is completely opposite. No dipping sauces, wrong cooked item, overcooked item.... disappointing. The whole point of ordering out is so I don't have to cook, but instead I'm frying my own steamed fried rice and my other orders had no yum yum sauce or teriyaki sauce.

One of my fave sushi places to go, certainly the best I've been to in the area, we come every time we visit FL! Definitely recommend their fried lemon pepper tuna bites, and their carnivore sushi boat which does come with the lemon tuna bites (its $65 but for like 5 rolls and the bites, worth it!)

We were at the rental car place and they were busy so we told them to take care of what they were doing, we were going to grab a bite next door. We each got a roll. I like Bamboo but I don't like the order at the counter then go sit. I probably would have ordered more if I had a server coming by, but it is too much of a hassle to get up, walk back over, order, pay again the walk back. It is just my personal preference. It is apparent that it works for them so what donI know. I just know they could possibly make more of my money my way.

We eat here all the time, always order the same thing and it's usually great -the Hibachi Teriyaki Chicken with steamed rice and zucchini only for the veggies. I took my food to go so I didn't try it until I got home. My zucchini tasted like shrimp and that flavor had transferred to the chicken and rice that was in the container with it and ruined the meal for me. Service was great but the food could've been better this time.

My husband and I used to love eating at Bamboo when we lived in Crestview 8 years ago.
We recently moved back to the area and decided to have dinner there again. Except we were incredibly disappointed by the new layout and the food.
I ordered the salmon hibachi and while the grilled salmon and fried rice were as good as we remembered, the vegetables that came with the hibachi were inedible. The vegetables were flavorless and so overcooked that they were soggy.
I also ordered a California roll and was so disappointed by the quality and taste. The roll was falling apart because it wasn’t rolled properly tight; this means the sushi chef needs more experience. Secondly, the California roll was bland. The imitation crab was plain and unseasoned, there too much cucumber, and no avocado. I took one bite, my husband took one bite and we left the rest; it was inedible. The price they charge for poor quality rolls is outrageous.
The service was bad as well. I ordered a sparking water (soda water) and while the server offered me a refill, she gave me sprite when I specifically reminded her it was soda water. Didn’t drink the refill as my order was wrong.

Currently back in Crestview and decided to visit Bamboo, which I used to go to pretty often. I've gone three times now at weird times of the day (usually no one really in the restaurant) and my experience has more or less been the same:
Staff seem kind of depressed or something, not very warm regardless (I've had like three separate people now).
Portions on the rice plate have gotten smaller, but prices are still pretty high (I pay usually about $20 each visit for a rice plate + salad).
Each time the server forgot something I ordered, usually the salad, the sauces that come with the rice plate, or edamame, and I waited 10+ minutes for someone to revisit the table.
To the point regarding server visits, good luck getting a refill on a drink.
Tables weren't really clean.
This place used to be awesome, but it's different now. I would suppose they're cutting costs and maybe don't have a front-of-house/back-of-house distinction anymore, so everyone is doing everything, but I don't know.
Even if I could accept food getting smaller due to rising costs, the service sucked. Kind of a disappointment. I get the sense they're prioritizing delivery orders (and I guess alcohol specials for those who still decide to come in?), so maybe Doordash if you choose to eat here.

First time eating here and we did pickup. The food was not good at all. I got the chicken teriyaki with double vegetables and my wife got the same. Our vegetables and teriyaki sauce were so salty we couldn’t even eat it. The sushi was not good either. The only thing we could tolerate was the spring rolls.

Wish I knew about this place sooner! Inside they have a bar and multiple TV’s. The drinks are great and the sushi is delicious! It is à la carte vs. all you can eat but the prices are super affordable. The staff is awesome. They even have drink specials every night of the week! We ordered two HUGE rolls (pictured) and 2 bottles of Sapporo beer and it was $55. I will be coming here from now on!
UPDATE 4/22/24: This has become our go to spot for sushi in Crestview. Aside from every single item on their menu, I highly recommend ordering a chefs choice roll and telling them ingredients you like. The sushi chefs have the freedom to take those ingredients, be innovative, and create customized rolls on the fly. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable. We love sitting at the sushi bar and interacting with the staff - everyone is always so friendly ❤️ Everything here is delicious, you won’t be disappointed. Two important reminders: 1) sushi goes best with a Sapporo and 2) don’t forget to tip your servers ❤️

My first time here. I was so very disappointed that the tables didn't have waiter service. We were handed a menu, directed to a table and sat and waited. No one showed up. Finally a worker came by and said you have to order at the counter. No one told us that!!! BUT...if you sit at the sushi counter there is a waiter. What??? No said that either. Again disappointed. The three different kinds of sushi we ordered were very good. The spring rolls were crispy and tasty. The tempura batter veggies were a little under cooked and could have used a couple more minutes in the fryer but still good. My main problem with this place is the waiter service that doesn't really exist unless of course you are at the sushi counter. The food was delivered to our table, surprise! When you order they give you a sign for your table with your name on it. I didn't like that The food was good not the service.

Some were not wearing gloves. Anyone touching food should have on gloves. There was a guy in the front clamping, squeezing, and rolling sushi with his bare hands.
After a poo are hands really clean? Did they get under the nails or even remember to wash their hands? Gloves should be worn anytime touching another person’s food.
The food here is good. I recommend making sure it is safe as well and free from bacteria.

OVERHYPED** First time going, I’m from FWB area; my usual sushi spot is DOMO but since there isn’t one in cview I took a chance. The rolls are tiny, they only serve 8 rolls and they are the size of a quarter. Ordered the volcano rolls, it literally looked like a volcano erupted just a mess on a plate. The plating situation is weird, the seating and ordering is weird, why is there a host to seat people if they guests have to order at a counter? My 6 year old for got her food before mine and it was steak hibachi and there were about 5 puny pieces of chicken and a HUGE setting of rice. The proportions are not balanced. The coke I had was the only good thing about the experience. Waited forever there was so many times I wanted to leave but we already paid!! I felt trapped!! My boyfriend makes me homemade sushi at home for way less, they come out bigger, and better tasting. Won’t be back. Making sushi at home from now on

Bad experience. You order like you're in a fast food restaurant and when you pay, the screen asks you what amount of tip you'd like to leave. Where's the waiting staff? Why would anyone tip before service or food? The staff are really missing out. Well service was terrible. I would have left a good tip on the table but took over an hour to get my food as I watched everyone with me eat and finish their supper. Bamboo used to be the top spot but it's far from that these days. Poor management and they don't deserve their position. You're just a number in the restaurant these days. For over a decade and a half, Bamboo has been my sushi bar of choice. I remember when they first opened their doors in that cozy corner of the plaza. It’s become a cherished tradition for my family and me, a place where we have created so many memories.
Danny and his team are culinary heroes. Their service is more than superb; it’s art. They mix flavors, create memories, and ensure every visit feels like coming home. The chefs, the staff- from Javi, to Derrick to Mario and everyone in between - they’re not just professionals; they’re family. They are part of how my children know great food.
And it’s not just about the food; it’s about the moments shared. Bamboo's Yakisoba—have been a constant companion throughout my children’s growth. From their earliest bites to today as a 9 and 11 year old with big appetites, Bamboo has nourished them. These noodles have been eaten in a part of birthdays, championship basketball dinners, and in the pain of loss, and just because. My son's first sushi roll was made by an amazing chef and former classmate, Javier. Our first date, my wife and I, was right here, laughing and joking with Mike and Danny’s hospitality.
I have grown to love sushi from this restaurant. I did not know what I was missing until I asked for a custom roll. This is become tradition with my wife. We always share a Mr. Muscles Roll and at least one Chefs Choice made by your great team.
Bamboo isn’t just a restaurant; it’s an experience. The menu offers delights for every palate. They have an extensive list of options that I feel confident will please even the pickiest person. Pair that with an impressive selection of drinks, and you have a recipe for great meal. But it’s the genuine care they bring into each meal that sets them apart. Whether it’s a daily special roll or a local favorite, Bamboo crafts culinary magic.
To the team at Bamboo: You’ve been part of my family’s journey. You’ve nourished us, celebrated with us, and watched us grow. Thank you for being more than a restaurant; you’re a permanent part of some of my favorite memories. Here’s to many more years of good food, great service, and heartfelt connections.

I want to preface by saying that I'm by no means an expert on Japanese cuisine from a culinary perspective, but as a person who simply really enjoys Japanese cuisine (and just delicious food, period) I've never had any complaints about my experiences dining at Bamboo Sushi Bar & Hibachi! I've ordered something different from the menu each time I've visited (four visits in total, I'm new to the area), but everything I've ordered has always been delicious and plated immaculately.
My only complaints are that the acoustics of the venue do often mean it can get quite loud when dining in during semi-busy periods, making it somewhat challenging to maintain conversation with others whom you're dining with, and that I have had some 'less than pleasant' experiences with serving staff. Not to say it was outwardly negative, but it wasn't always friendly or prompt. We're all human though, maybe those servers were tired or having an off day - who knows, but I always like to give the benefit of the doubt unless it becomes an ongoing experience.
Overally however, based on the food alone, I will happily continue to be a patron of Bamboo Sushi & Bar Hibachi!

I took my parents out to lunch the other day when I came to Crestview to visit and we were less than impressed with the food. The stir fried veggies were not properly cooked, overly seasoned with black pepper and mainly consisted of cabbage. The ramen broth tasted off, maybe burned or old. (I eat a lot of ramen in the various restaurants of Tallahassee) The meat in the ramen was definitely burned. The teriyaki chicken was good. Staff seemed brusquely pleasant. We do not plan on any return visits.

Ist time here. Ordered hibachi filet and shrimp. Shrimp was tiny and sparse in serving size. Filet was ordered medium and came charred, well done. My mate had porkloin and it was tough to chew.
Sushi was good. We had water to drink
Total bill $47.79 + $7 tip.
For the price, wish the quality had been better.

Quality and service is not comparable to the Niceville location. Servers are not friendly and the seating process is never the same. Was told that it would be an upcharge for extra sauce for spring rolls when the boat wasn't full to begin with. Sever said that if you get the smaller boats there is less sauce in them.....ok well hence the need for extra sauce. Niceville location is where it's at!!!!

The food has decreased in value tremendously. 4 years ago when I moved here it was wonderful. I couldn’t wait to eat there again. Now , not so much. Spring rolls were caked in oil , not fresh at all. Squeeze it and all the oil I could have fried an egg with. Sad . A favorite I used to always order . I ordered a simple spicy shrimp roll. Why is it spicy when all you do is add a centimeter of a jalapeño? No . The shrimp inside was chewy , literally couldn’t even break it apart .. and was obviously not fresh. If it was even shrimp . The veggies inside were so small , almost not even there. If I spend $60 I expect to have good food . Even the miso soup wasn’t hot. Told the manager about the sushi and she asked if I wanted it re made ? I said , is it the same shrimp? She said she isint sure. I declined a remake. Then as I am about to leave she brings another order of the sushi in a Togo box . Took it to my spouse at work and he said literally no one wanted to eat it.
Sad … just put some effort into the food. Get fresh ingredients. Just try .

Sad to say 4 years ago I gave a 5 star review to only come today and wish I could post a 0! California roll(simple I thought since I was in a hurry) ...husband finished food we sat there another 10 minutes with number still on table. Just went to get a refund and there comes a girl wondering if this was mine and if I would like it boxed? Really? Then guy wants me to let him wait on lady behind me for her food order while I waited on a refund. Not one time did anyone say I'm sorry..all I got was a snark look from guy behind register. Will NOT be back and WILL NOT refer people like I have for years!

Bamboo Sushi...it seemed unorganized when we arrived. The person seating us couldn't articulate for us to sit at the Sushi bar vs a table. Seemed as if we confused her since we wanted Sushi and the Sushi bar was full. It was just odd.
Went to the register to order, also a bit odd, but ok. Got the food and my Yakisoba had zucchini. Sliced Zucchini. Like cucumbers. VERY odd. It tasted overly peppery. My daughter got the Salmon and wasn't a fan. My wife did enjoy her Kamikazi roll, but said she couldn't differentiate the differnt flavors.
Over all it was just ok. Nothing really blew us away. I probably won't be stopping there again. :-(

I really like the food however they list on menu that you get 6 spring rolls but in reality it’s 3 and they cut them in half. I think to be honest to public it should say 3 cut in half or 6 half peices. So for that price it’s not worth it.

My husband and I were on a date and he ordered the panko fried chicken and I ordered the Sasquatch sushi roll. He enjoyed his meal and I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious the roll was going to be! It did take a few minutes longer my roll to come out but so worth the wait!! The combination of the ingredients was perfection. We also tried the chocolate mochi dessert, reminded me of a fudgesicle with a chewy outer layer…yummy!!

Update:
Service quality is lacking. 4 times in a row-order messed up. We order 4 tuna rolls without wasabi/just PLAIN. Each time, still gets it put on. Even when we call and say, “no spicy anything- just PLAIN” it STILL gets put on. And, the cashiers tell me I have to specifically say, “no wasabi”-which I have. I feel like this shouldn’t be an ongoing issue. If the cashier knows the ingredients in a roll, and a customer says, “no spicy anything”- why does the cashier not know the menu … it’ s an inconvenience to call in an order ahead of time, receive food not made the way you asked, and now you’ve got to wait while you’re also being charged a credit card fee since you paid over the phone . They do correct the order, but still feel the need to correct the customer too- even though it’s been four times in a row. Could definitely use improvement on learning the menu and the importance of going above and beyond for customer service.
Old:
The staff and food are always great. Unfortunately tonight our $70 order was switched with someone else’s, and the manager on duty discounted our food and came over to personally explain the confusion of what happened . Turns out myself and another customer gave the exact same first and last name ! Anywho, highly recommend to anyone cruising through Niceville, Crestview , Fort Walton area !

California to tasted like straight cucumber, the fried gyoza was deep fried and tasted like oil, the chicken curry was thick and they used chicken nuggets for the chicken. The sweet tea wasn't sweet and the fried rice was regular rice with soy sauce. You have to go to the register and order your food instead of the waitress trying your order. No hibachi take inside either. Not worth the overpriced food

We were traveling back home to Lakeland from a long holiday and we decided to stop in Niceville, we saw this place and decided let's try it. We are so happy we did! I recently had the pleasure of dining at Bamboo Sushi in Crestview, and I'm pleased to say that it was a delightful experience. The restaurant offers a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere, making it an excellent choice for a relaxed evening out.
The highlight of the meal at Bamboo Sushi was undoubtedly the food. The flavors were exceptional, and it was evident that the chefs had a strong grasp of their craft. The noodles and rice in the dishes I ordered were prepared to perfection, with an ideal texture that left me quite impressed.
One minor aspect to note was that the meat in some dishes could be a tad tough on occasion. However, this didn't significantly detract from the overall dining experience since the flavor more than made up for it. The sauces and seasonings used in the dishes were spot on and made for a delightful culinary journey.
Considering the overall positive experience, I can confidently say that I will be visiting Bamboo Sushi again in the future. The combination of great flavors and excellent textures in their dishes makes this restaurant a noteworthy choice for those seeking quality Asian cuisine in Crestview.

So me and my wife got 3 spider rolls, split the third, we paid about 50 bucks. It was pretty good but if we are ordering one of the most expensive sushi rolls, and to get 3, I did not expect the quantity that we received. 6 medium sized rolls in each sushi roll. All the tables were dirty, even tho there were two bussers just sitting around. The next day we both experience un ending diarrhea and throwing up. Could have been a bad batch or something but the food was really good

Save your money and go somewhere else. We ordered takeout and automatically I noticed the bags were super light; because of the weather we were in a rush to get home. When we got home I opened the boxes to see how small the portion sizes were. The sushi was terrible in taste and also small rolls (more rice than anything). We ordered the spring rolls and this was seriously a joke and lacking flavor! Here’s the best part they cut the already small roll into half or maybe into 1/3. Rice was dry and only tasted like soy sauce. Veggies only tasted like soy sauce. Steak was fine but super small portions for price. Chicken was dry and lacking flavor. I ended up taking the food and recreating it for my family.

I’ve been eating sushi and sashimi since I was a small child and I’ve never been served such poor quality fish. The tuna sashimi was gray and smelled terrible despite their attempt to use lemon to mask the smell. The white tuna tasted absolutely terrible and spoiled (it’s usually my favorite fish) and they forgot the rice with my sashimi dinner. When informed of the issue I was offered a $15 voucher to make up for the terrible $30+ meal because I wasn’t about to drive 40 minutes, one way, to bring it back. The service I received was excellent though and the young lady on the phone did everything in her power to make things right. I spent about $75 on my two orders and am severely disappointed with the quality of their food.

I have always loved Bamboo, but we had a horrible experience this time. My father and I decided to eat here today. We loved going here before the Niceville and Fwb locations opened. We weren’t greeted when walking in, there were only 6 other customers in the restaurant. We ordered nearly $100 worth of food and got the worst service ever. It took 10+ minutes just to get my dad’s seafood salad and hot tea the restaurant was not busy and there was plenty of staff. He got all of his rolls before I received my Biggie Bowl, which was missing at least 3 of the ingredients shown on the menu. When I asked for a new bowl they no joke, added one spring of cilantro and a spoonful of the smelt roe… The bowl was half the size of the bowl I got at the Niceville location. I am not exaggerating. The nigiri was a very small portion of fish. Maybe we’ve just been spoiled by all of our good experiences here that I just expect better from them. I asked for my house salad three times, but it was the last thing served to us at the table when it is always the first. The salad is already prepared in bowls in the back, all they need to do is bring it out, but four waitresses stood behind the counter talking to each other! Lastly, the waiters never came by to take away dishes, fill drinks, or ask how our food was. This experience was so unacceptable, I really just wish people were doing their jobs better. What we ordered was not worth our time or money. Very disappointed and frustrated.

The food is so good and the service is absolutley the best! No matter the dish you order you will not be disappointed. Atmosphere is laid back where you can kick back enjoy the food and drinks.

Save your time and money and spend it somewhere else. Got our food and it was horrible. Left it sitting on the table, going somewhere else.

I’ve ate at all of the bamboos a countless number of times. But a fella by the name of Everett made this experience better than the rest. His upbeat attitude and personality was great! You guys got a good employee right there.

Waited 45 mins for for shrimp udon. Had a staff member check on the meal. Staff stated that the chef was upset and had been plating my food for over 5 mins. Had to get a refund. Food finally came as my group and I were leaving. Would not recommend.

My wife and daughter both ordered the Salmon, and both reported it to be delicious. I, however ordered the chicken yaki soba, and found it very unpalatable. The noodles were dry, and the sauce was almost entirely absent. The chicken had little flavor.
The atmosphere was a bit - rough, and the bathrooms were questionable. The floor looked to be concrete.
On the other hand everyone else present said the food was delicious, so take this review for what it's worth.

We eat here alot. I wanted to keep my menu to possibly order more food but after the 4th time of someone coming over trying to get my menu I decided not to order anymore food. What's the deal with the menu? Not being able to keep it at our table? Otherwise food is delicious!

Bamboo has an extremely broad menu. I've had sashimi, sushi, yakisoba, hibachi and more. Bamboo doesn't disappoint with good food and friendly service.

Chef Dereck did an awesome job with the chef’s roll that I ordered. I told him what I wanted and what I didn’t like and he made an awesome roll! Kyle was very attentive and very helpful as well. If I’m back in Crestview I will definitely stop by!

Don’t bother calling in a to-go order. You’re still gonna wait on the curb for an hour.

The food was great and pretty close to authentic Japanese cuisine. My only real complaint is there is a very large window in the front of the building facing west that has NO way to block sunlight. So during my whole meal I was completely blinded by the afternoon sun.

The food is ok, but regardless of how busy the place is, every time I call in an order or place one online, you need to give these guys a full hour for the twenty minute wait time they say. They'll serve everyone inside instead of helping people who call in advance.

Food is pretty good. I would rate it a 3.5/5 BUT the fact that you charge for takeout supplies? That's absolutely ridiculous. I'm paying you a dollar for what? A napkin and plastic cutlery? I've literally never made a review before for a restaurant and I'm sad that my first one is this but I've come to Bamboo multiple times and have never paid a dollar for "takeout supplies" before. I don't know what changed but that is disappointing to see after paying the prices that have already been raised so high from the pandemic. It's really just a slap in the face to your patrons. Needless to say I'm disappointed.

Order curbside tonight and waited a while before heading to store. Got a text saying it was ready, pulled up to the curb but no one ever brought out the food. Even after calling the store. After walking in and getting the food myself, the first thing my wife sees is someone’s hair in the Yaki soba. Not really worth waiting on a new one since I’m headed back to pensacola.

I was very disappointed in our to go order. The rice wasn't fried, it was just tossed in some sauce and was soggy. The chicken was dry and not tossed well in its sauce. The portions were so small! I had heard only wonderful reviews about this place so we were so excited to try it. I'm hoping the dine in experience is better, but you gotta do well with to go orders too. That was the worst experience and I honestly feel like we wasted our money.

Bamboo is our go to Sushi joint. We normally sit at the bar around the sushi chefs, and have a great time. They are attentive to our order, but also, have great conversation about any number of subjects.
Bottom line, we get great sushi, and have a great time too!
