I absolutely would say Japanese Hibachi is one of my favorite foods. I love that it’s cooked in front of me, it’s fresh, and the flavors are delicious. The food, service, and atmosphere were good- I’ve had better soup and salad. We went early afternoon so it wasn’t busy at all. However, 4 star because they up charged $4 per person for fried rice! That’s what should be included when at the hibachi grill! I agreed to it because that’s what I wanted to eat but I will not go back.

Our party of 6 had an awesome experience! Our chef was hilarious. The kids loved him! Food was excellent. Super accommodating to the member in our group who has a good allergy. Service was excellent!

We celebrated my mom’s birthday at Tokyo Bay and it was fantastic! The server greeted us promptly and was very friendly, Beto was our hibachi chef and was very outgoing, entertaining, and made some of the best food! They were very accommodating to our gluten free needs as well. Highly recommend!

The food was decent and pretty much the same as other hibachi places like Kobe. The service varies greatly with who you get. The people sitting across the way had a more entertaining chef that put on a show the entire time. Ours did the normal routine of volcano fountain and breaking the egg by tossing it in the air and landing on the blade side of a spatula. The real downsides is that the place was super hot inside and we waited for over an hour for our chef to start cooking at our table. It was so hot I felt like I was in that scene of Total Recall when the oxygen was depleting in the Mars space station. We asked about the AC and they said that's just normal. We'll definitely skip this place next time we visit the area.

There is no better hibachi spot in the area. The atmosphere is vibrant, everyone having a great time. We had a res for 8 people. Had our own table. I had the hottie sushi roll. Fresh and delicious and we all had the hibachi. I personally had the filet mignon as well as about 4 other guests and it was fresh, tasty and delicious. Definitely never frozen. Entertaining and fun as well. Love this place.

I def recommend Berto (chef) and Jackson (waiter)

I didn’t like how their online menu shows a different shared plate price than what my bills reflected. I was under the impression it was an $8 share charge which I had no problem with (myself and 7 year old) but it’s actually $15 shared plate. (One soup one salad) I was confused because my other members shared and got their own individual sized salads and soups for the same share charge.

I did not like the sunrise drink (I thought their menu stated pineapple juice but there was none) I opted not to drink it or say anything about it but he did charge me for the full $15 beverage I didn’t take a second sip of.

Jackson was very good with keeping checks separate and orders concise.

The chef was fun and great but I did feel like I had to remind him several times that my chicken was modify to teriyaki

It’s an easy $150+ bill for dinner for two

I used to really think this place was really good but went here last night after not going for some months and seems like they’re going downhill. Food wasn’t that great like I remember. We sat at a hibachi table and the cook was just ok. I told him I wanted my steak medium and he cooked it well done. It’s filet you’re not supposed to overcook it made it tough. also used sooo much margarine while cooking the food that I had to tell him no more on mine please! also soup tasted like water and salt. Very salty! And salad was not good smaller portion than I remember them giving before. Ginger dressing was ok but too runny they soaked the salad with it. And the fried rice has always been really good and fluffy but it didn’t taste fresh last night. I won’t be back to eat here!

Uninspired . First our sushi was great. Everything else was second rate. The habachi “chef” put almost no effort into the experience. The food was bland and lacked seasoning, except it was drowning in butter.
We ate every bit of the 2 rolls of sushi we ordered. The rest of the food went home and even the kid said it wasn’t edible so it hit the trash. As one of the more expensive habachi places it was very disappointing.
On the side note the table next to us had a Jamaican chef who appeared to be going for it. That table was having fun. Our table , and the birthday boy who was one of the groups seated with us , spent our time waiting for the check.

Outside seating is wonderful with the huge Koi pond. Service takes much longer than sitting inside. I felt bad for the outside bartender/waitress because she took the orders at the table and tended bar. Took forever to get my food”sushi” which was just okay.

i genuinely never find time out of my day to leave a bad review because thats a waste of my time but the instance of the bad of restaurant i will. i had 7:15 reservation and i didnt get seats until 8:15 and once i got to seated we waited another hour for a hibachi chef no one ever came. we just left at that point. i can passionately say do not eat here go to ninja on airport. way better service fast and good.

Stopped in for hibachi table cooking lunch and was disappointed. Food was rather bland and service ok. We thought the quality of the meat was not up to par for the price of the meal. Would not go back. Unfortunately, we have yet to find a good hibachi restaurant in Southwest, FL.

Food was great. Chef did an awesome job and was animated and funny doing what a hibachi chef does best. Unfortunately, we went on Valentine’s Day night and even with a reservation we were forced to stand and wait in the front room for close to an hour, like atleast 45 minutes after our time. Everybody seemed very delayed and a little upset. Not enough seating either in the waiting room. Once we got there and after another 10 minute wait we finally got drinks and the salad soup and shrimp appetizers started arriving, then we could finally enjoy being there. Disappointingly, the front service manager was just full of excuses and didn’t try to do anything to make up for the inconveniences.

If you like to be seated and ignored for 10 minutes in the darkest restaurant in town, this is your place, I just went with my boyfriend today at 5:35 pm and nobody even approached to us to answering how we were doing or explained the menu…… I went with with my boyfriend to have a romantic dinner, and they don’t even care……
We just stand up and walked out after 10 min, and we came to Sushi-Thai(right across the street) where I’m typing this comment while our waitress is taking care us.

The staff is very nice and accommodating for the kids. The all you can eat sushi menu is very good if you can get it. Sushi is delicious if only the Sushi person is there. Don't go for lunch before 1230 or you may not be able to get sushi if that's what you want. This has happened many times.

This place would have deserved 5 stars except for our server MYONG. We were a party of 12 at a hibachi table. Our menus and plates had been placed very close together so we were crowded. We spread out a little and she scolded us and told us we better not move again! She was very slow taking our orders even though it was quite empty. A member of our group paid in cash and asked for change and she told her she couldn’t give change because she didn’t have any! Chefs were entertaining and food was delicious! Very generous protein portions!

Hello fellow Sushi lovers!
If you’re a big sushi eater / lover , Tokyo Bay is the place to go. I could genuinely eat their sushi everyday and would feel satisfied and well fed. The staff is incredibly friendly and the atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy and clean. The bathrooms are also beautiful, i love the full length mirror in the women’s big stall!

I believe the cheapest sushi roll on the menu is $10 and the priciest is $28. Regardless of price, i would pay for their food because it is worth the money. The portions are large and the rolls are hand crafted and made with effort that you can taste and appreciate. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys Japanese/Sushi food.

The cocktails are also yummy and even the house wine is good! The outside bar is also very nice to sit at.

I only write bad reviews when a restaurant deserves it. And as someone who has worked in the restaurant biz, it gives me no joy to bash businesses. However, it is sometimes warranted. But more than that, it saves people from having terrible experiences. Last week I had the displeasure of eating here at Tokyo Bay for the first (and last) time.

I dont even know where to begin but let's just say this was the WORST dining experience of my life. Not only was the place itself filthy, but the hibachi "show" was non-existent. I could do a better job flipping vegetables than the clown we had. He screwed up our order AND refused to do anything for the 4 kids we had with us. Our server was MIA. The food was tasteless and BEYOND terrible.

But what really irked me about this disaster of a restaurant was the pricing. This place was at least 2X as expensive as Ninja *(our go to Hibachi spot). They even had the audacity to CHARGE $4 extra for fried rice per meal. That's like charging someone to breath air. For $30-$40 an entree, fried rice should be included as it is part of the hibachi experience. But no, this place charges extra. The portions were also abysmal. The miso soup was the only saving grace. None of us enjoyed out meal and there were 11 of us in total.

To top it off, we received our appetizers at the end of the meal after the hibachi "show" was over. When I complained to management about this they wanted to give me a gift card. I refused and wanted a refund, which they eventually gave us after 20 minutes of arguing with the owner. You could tell the owner was as cheap they come - a penny pitching thief. He should be shutdown, not only for charging OUTRAGEOUS prices and gauging customers... but for also serving food in a filthy restaurant. I saw dead bugs on the window sill behind me. I'm sure there's other nasty surprises in the kitchen. The bathrooms were terrible. Toilet was clogged but when I told staff members they did nothing about it.

Look, I understand its "season" and employees are hard to come by. But if you know you can't handle a full restaurant, DON'T FILL THE RESTAURANT. As you can tell from my profile, I never write reviews like this. But my experience was so offensively bad, that I want others to know about it so they do not come here and suffer the consequences. There's other hibachi restaurants in town. DO NOT support this one at any and all costs.

So….this is not just the worst Habachi experience, but the absolute worst restaurant experience of my entire life. It might sound harsh, but I promise you it’s not. 7pm reservation, the entrance seemed packed so we went to the bar to wait, thinking it wouldn’t be more than 10-15 min. Ordered drinks. 1 hour and 45 minutes later, we sat down around the Habachi grill. Drink orders were slow, soup came slowly, main orders were placed and salad came slow, but there was still no chef at 9:40pm. So we left….no apologies. Worst ever.

I first reviewed this place a couple years ago and easily gave it 5 stars, but sadly it has gone down hill. The last 2 times I've been with family have really been awful. The staff I was around seemed to have zero personality and where slightly rude, we had to wait over an hour past the reservation time and the food quality has definitely lowered.

I would actually avoid this place, the price for experience is no longer worth it.

We went there tonight for Christmas Eve we always wanted to come here and dine because people have told us about it and that the food is good and the atmosphere. Maybe in the past it was a good place but not anymore maybe at one point it was. Today it was horrible starting from waiting over an hour after we had our reservation at 7:00 PM and there was other people who was waiting to be seated as well. Everyone kept asking why make a reservation if they still make you wait a long time to be seated, but besides that we had the worse experience worse Server we ever had. Waitress kept forgetting about us she kept her focus towards the other party who we were sharing the Hibachi cooktop, she took forever taking the other party’s drink order than she took ours she came back with the drinks then she took our order and top of taking our food order she forgot to take our menus, but no the others so I gathered them and had it on top of my plate waiting for her to appear or comeback with our appetizers and she even forgot that she brought the soup and salad and again forgot to take the menus, while we waited for the hibachi Chef everyone was eating their soup and salad. Then the chef showed up and introduced himself and did his show, he started cooking and started serving our food, we asked the waitress where our appetizers were when she brought some drinks over for the party next to us, and we even asked to refill the water and. I had to asked other people to bring us some alcoholic drinks and to ask if they could take the menus away. After finishing up with dinner she came over and some of the people from our other party asked her for boxes to take home the remaining of their dinner. And my spouse had to get her attention to let her know that we were going to need to go boxes as well. We just didn’t appreciate the mistreatment nor all the undermining we were paying as much as everyone else and went there to have a nice dinner and experience & not to be mistreated and undermined. All we wanted is to have a nice dinner in Christmas Eve with our friends and my family. Not the Christmas Eve dinner we were expecting. I do not recommend this place there’s actually more to the story, but I really do not see a point to share it.

There is a koi pond out front with a variety of koi fish. I was very impressed with the whole experience. I highly recommend eating here.

My recent visit to Tokyo Bay restaurant left much to be desired. A few months ago, I found the overall experience to be quite mediocre, as the food was overcooked and lacked flavor. Hoping for improvement, I decided to give them another chance. Unfortunately, during my second visit, we were seated and then seemingly forgotten about. After waiting for a considerable amount of time with no acknowledgment, we decided to leave. Surprisingly, the staff showed little concern about our departure. Regrettably, I won't be returning to Tokyo Bay.

Wow finally found good sushi in Bonita! Also fresh, authentic tempura! The “koi” seating area is super cute. Ordered takeout but saw many regulars coming in and being greeted by name. Highly recommend!

The best part of the visit is when we left the “restaurant”, the service was horrible, the drinks were ship swill that Columbus brought over when he discovered the New World. The food was awful, poorly prepared, over cooked rubbery shrimp akin to shoe leather. The rice was a poor representation of fried rice, no flavor, crunchy and bland. Medium rare steak there is equal to well done, just 1 step below charcoaled. The waiter constantly stroked his attempt at a beard, more like a goats beard after it pees in its own face. Never same him was his hands, only visited the table to tell us something we ordered was out of stock or bring the check. Walked by our table a dozen time without offering refills, checking on our order or doing anything other than stroking himself.
Do yourself a favor, find a Publix, go to the seafood section and buy the prepared sushi boxes. The quality is better and you can only blame yourself for the bad service.

OK. So we visited Bonita Springs and dined here as a group of 30 people. (Baseball Team).

It seemed doomed from the beginning, because the Host was not in the right mood to take a large party. She was snapping back at us to get the order out faster. I mean like RIGHT after asking lol. Now the other 2 Chefs looked great and i heard many "ooo"s and "ahh"s. But we got nothing. Our guy kept throwing soy sauce on our food with no other seasoning. No tricks....

I probably have to try with a smaller party. I have to add that the Host that greets you at the front door was AMAZING. My daughter needed a break during the fire show behind us(She's 5 so we understood the consequences), and he gave her fish food to feed the coy fish in the front of the restaurant. Much appreciated!

This place is legit! Wow! The chef was the best Hibachi chef I have ever had. He was engaging, fun and a great cook! I had the duck and filet for $40. That meal would cost $100+ anywhere else. The duck was out of this world! If I lived in the area, this would definitely be a staple in my restaurant list. Hats off to Tokyo Bay!

We loved this place for a family celebration, including 4 - and 6 year old grand children. It started with the tiki bar and the koi fish pond. The service and food were excellent. Dennis, the owner, is right there in the mix of a very busy place, making sure things are running smoothly. I was very impressed.

Went there yesterday for lunch for 5 people with an Open Table reservation. They never opened the restaurant while we were there. . They had a side door that was unlocked and we stuck our head in there and someone said they didn't have a server. That person would not advise when their help was going to show up or if they were going to open at all.

Our family always has a wonderful time when we have dinner here at the hibachi grill. The food is amazing and the chefs are always so friendly and entertaining with a lot of neat tricks like the “volcano” and the disappearing egg which is a hit with the kids!

There is no better hibachi spot in the area. The atmosphere is vibrant, everyone having a great time. We had a res for 8 people. Had our own table. I had the hottie sushi roll. Fresh and delicious and we all had the hibachi. I personally had the filet mignon as well as about 4 other guests and it was fresh, tasty and delicious. Definitely never frozen. Entertaining and fun as well. Love this place.

I ordered the Bulgogi plate for dinner, the meat was absolutely disgusting- the taste was nothing like any Bulgogi I've had. If anything the meat seemed like a cheap cut and maybe from yesterday's cook. Never finished the plate. My fiance ordered shrimp and fried rice, the shrimp for the majority weren't deveined!! Disgusting!! We were given $8.00 off.. laughable. Ordered a tempura roll it was the best thing our table had! My mother ordered the filet, it was dry, hard, and seemed like it was not fresh in the least bit. Worst meal I've ever spent $290 on!! I will never go back!! On a lighter note-Victoria was great she makes a mean Old Fashioned!

Food was a little bit above average but kind of over priced. Sushi and sashimi not as good as other Japanese steakhouse restaurants that I have visited around the SWFL area. The sashimi did not look and taste fresh. Hibachi was good but the dish I ordered did not include lobster but was charged more than another japanese hibachi that I visited with the same dish but the lobster was included. Koi pond is nice with beautiful fish swimming in it. Nice place to take a picture.

Just average for a habishi restaurant. Rice was missing something as it wasn't very tasty. My son brought me here for my birthday.

Chef James was amazing! He has a great personality and was awesome with my kids. They enjoyed their experience and it was because of him! Gia was excellent with customer service and went above and beyond for us. Everything was perfect. We just wish there were more kid friendly items on the menu.

I love this place, first time I came here was back in 2022 for some lunch in with some cousins and I fell in love and this would be our 3 rd visit and hopefully for more in the future.

Something is going on with regards to the service. When we arrived for our reservation for 8 we were shown to a table that was incompletely set for 14 in the hallway of the shopping complex. The first waitress with red hair that greeted us looked angry, like she didn’t want to be there. Sometimes you have a bad night, I get it but not the best way to start. I have served and worked in hospitality for 20+ years and am totally aware of the struggles within a restaurant. Our order took over two hours which is the main reason for the poor review. Half of our table received entrees at the 1.5 hour mark and the other half received entrees at the 2 hour mark. We were one of three tables on the patio so it was not busy. There was one bartender to service the entire patio after the red head left and she just couldn’t keep up. She was very apologetic and kept saying she was the only one out there because they had to let the other bartender go. It took almost 30 minutes to get one drink. We honestly would have spent more but we literally couldn’t get her attention regarding drinks. Additionally, they allow smoking on their patio which we didn’t know and really interferes with our dinner - it’s gross. The restaurant seems to concentrate more on the hibachi tables and the take out business as when our waitress apologized she said they were
going to stop focusing on this in the future. The sushi was mediocre at best. Small pieces, no true variety and another disappointment. Truly think this restaurant is in over their head right now and would stay away based on other recent reviews. Our reservation was in mid February and can’t image what it will be like once the heavier tourist season arrives. Overall I would suggest I driving to further into Bonita Springs which has some excellent sushi and Thai restaurants.

Service leaves a lot to be desired. When you come to my table with a frown and act as if I am putting you out at your job, this is very unsatisfactory. I have worked in the hospitality industry for 40 years. If I hated my job I left and worked somewhere else. If I had been paying the tab of a group of drinkers and foodies I actually would have had a problem leaving any tip at all.
The sushi was outstanding and drinks were nicely made. Only problem was the service. I was there Tuesday evening from 4pm until almost nine.
I will still come back, just not for awhile.

This is a fun place.

I know it’s because of hurricane Ian, they were low on good bourbon and wine. Just because it’s on the list doesn’t mean it’s behind the bar. But really, we didn’t come here to drink.

The food was great and the chef was wonderful. Well worth the the price.

You will not be let down.

Why not 5 stars?
Scallops and lobster were a bit over done.

Tip to the chef, 1.5 minutes per side on the scallops, not 4 minutes. They were rubbery.

The steak was perfect👍🏻

Sat at the grill on Christmas day with a bunch of friends. I ordered the New York strip and scallops dinner and was not impressed with the quality of the beef, too chewy for what we're paying for.

Emily took great care of myself and a few other people. We are thankful to have been given such good service. The owner came over and asked how we were doing, which we found very nice. The food is wonderful and the service is very fast. Everyone is very helpful. Will definitely be back!

Tried Tokyo Bay for the first time on Christmas Eve. The staff were very friendly and our food was delicious! We sat at a hibachi table. Our chef was great. We’ll be back!

Came here for the first time to try out the all you can eat sushi lunch special. All the sushi was very basic with nothing special about it. I understand it’s all you can eat so you won’t get the best rolls but a little oomf could go along way. Service was extremely slow and we were the only ones in the restaurant.

Only 1 star because I can’t select 0. I made reservations for 6:15pm for my wife’s birthday, she loves hibachi. I even put in the notes that it was my wife’s birthday…. We were sat immediately and we were able to order drinks and appetizers shortly after. We put our order in as soon as the waitress returned to the table with our drinks. Appetizer arrived and no one came to the table for an hour and half!! We wanted more drinks or at least a water… When the waitress returned to the table to see “how we were doing” we decided to get our check. A man came over a said “I don’t know why she didn’t turn on the grill” and turned it on… No manager visit, waitress dropped the bill 15min later and said “I’m sorry I didn’t realize we were short on chefs” Happy birthday baby!! Never going back.

Good food nice show but the atmosphere is a bit cold and uncomfortable. I recommend doing the show cooking where they cook your food and fool around at your table and prepare it in front of your eyes

I actually used to love Tokyo Bay. In complete honesty, the food has always been fresh and delicious, and it’s always fun doing the Hibachi. They have AMAZING Hibachi cooks!

Since this place is always incredibly loud, it was always a fun place to take my kids to eat, without having to worry as much about disrupting someone else’s meal.

Unfortunately after my last visit, I will not be returning.

We dined in with my family. We paid for our meal, and then the other party (my mom and grandma) paid separate.

My mom paid cash, and we had to wait a little longer because we had an incredibly slow waitress, and we needed to pay by card.

After almost 20 minutes of waiting to simply pay for our meal, we grew tired of waiting so we went up to the bar area to pay. During this time, our waitress miraculously came out and scooped up the money my mom left to pay for her bill (which was all there - I know for certain.) and disappeared for about another 5-10 minutes while we were trying to pay at the bar. Finally, I saw the waitress again, so I rush rushingly flagged her down. At this moment, in the middle of the bar area, pretty much in front of the entire restaurant, the waitress proceeded to call me basically a thief, and accuse my family of not paying.

Absolutely absurd. I was completely humiliated in front of an entire restaurant of people after trying to patiently wait for over 30 minutes to pay my bill, which I still had not done by this point.

I left completely traumatized. I spoke to a manager as well, who basically just said “ok”.

So for anyone looking to go there, the food is great, but make sure you do not leave money attended at the table.

PS: in the end our waitress accused the new bus boy who cleared dishes of most likely stealing money from our tab.

100% will not return.

Went here on a saturday night around 8 with a few buddies. Was maybe around 10 other groups of people in the restaurant. Took about 15 minutes to get our orders in and the food came out at roughly 9:30. For a saturday night the fact that there was one sushi chef was a bit odd. Our server, Matt, came to the table maybe once every 15-20 minutes and never brought us utensils or napkins. We had to personally get up to get everything, including to-go boxes at the end. By this point in the evening our table was 4 of 6 of the total amount of customers in the restraunt. We should not have had to get up and go find our server every time we needed something. Took another 20 minutes after the fact to get our checks and even then one of us was double charged so we had to wait on a transaction void. Overall, the service was absolutely atrocious and i do not recommend coming here. I would give 0 stars if possible.

Spent $200.00 on a pick up order and tipped 20% for them to entirely screw up the order. When I went to exchange the order the manager started talking down to me and telling me how I placed it was wrong and how not to do it next time. The food is sub par I will be going to Sushi Tai 2 from now on I've been going there for years and never had an issue with the staff verbally attacking any customers. The food is bland and over priced terrible customer service and will never go back buyer beware!!!!!!!

Cool local Japanese restaurant was Here on 6/19/22 the chef was nice and funny and entertaining tje white rice wad so flavorful and the steak was tasty would highly recommend for a fun evening!

I ate here with my aunt while on vacation. Soup and salad were mediocre and I’ve had better many times at other places. We ordered pork and beef pot stickers for an appetizer and both were good. We opted for filet and scallops with fried rice which was excellent. I was slightly disappointed the chef wasn’t very entertaining and never offered us saki. The reason I am leaving 3 stars is because when I looked at my receipt when I got home the server never told me that gratuity was included in my check. This is so unusual for a party of 2. Maybe it was written somewhere in the menu but I missed it. We ended up tipping him well over 40%. At the end of the day it’s my fault for not reading my receipt better, but I just feel like it was a dirty trick and snuck into the bill. Anyway, lesson learned and I’d eat here again.
