Japanese and Peruvian traditional foods mixed together into modern-day cuisine. Come in and enjoy our unique restaurant experience for brunch, lunch, dinner, or happy hour.
Delicious! Loved the mix of Japanese and Peruvian cuisines. We are very picky about Omakase, but this was top notch and one of the best we've tried in DC! Loved how the chef was very creative...and gave us SO much food. We had to take some home. Gabriella was amazing and hooked us up.

Sushería is an absolute gem! From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the restaurant's wonderful ambiance—a perfect blend of elegance and comfort that set the tone for a memorable evening.

As for the food and drinks, they were nothing short of exceptional. The sushi was fresh, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor. The drinks complemented the meal perfectly, with unique and refreshing options that added a fun twist to the evening.
I had such a great time and would highly recommend Sushería to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience. I can’t wait to return!

Excellent place to eat alone or with friends. The food is delicious, and the service is perfect. They made a mistake with one of the rolls we ordered, but they went above and beyond to make it right, showing great care for how we might have felt at the time. Tomorrow, we’re going back for dinner! If it’s a 5-star rating, they deserve 10!

I can’t recall what all the rolls we got were called, but they were all tasty(softshell crab, fatty tuna,& matè(salmon yumminess)). The Salmon Belly was also divine! Great date night before the movies at gtown and so conveniently close.

We had lunch at this restaurant a while back. The interior was nicely decorated with modern and stylish elements, creating a unique vibe. The food was okay, but we felt it was pricy for the quality and portion. We expected a better Nikkei dining experience that combined Peruvian and Japanese flavors well through the dishes they served.

The restaurant and the food is great but I wish I could give a negative review for my experience with one of the male bartenders (with the mustache). He made me and my friends feel extremely uncomfortable. He was drunk serving us and it got out of hand. 0/10

Was a little skeptical when choosing the location for a friend's bday as the reviews were mixed. The initial server was friendly, but Hamza took over and it was up from there. Beyond his great energy and wonderful personality, he gave us great food recommendations and made the birthday girl feel so special with his Italian happy birthday rendition 😆😆. He was extremely attentive and super sweet. Well definitely visit again!

Interesting space. Friendly staff. Place wasn’t full yet service was initially slow. Happy hour is only available at the bar! Food was a disappointment to say the least. Sashimi (minus the sake salmon which was very good) was fishy, watery, and nearly tasteless. Poke was overwhelmed by gelatinous ponzu sauce. Cocktail was undrinkable. Staff kindly tried to remake the poke and while the second attempt had less sauce, it was still way too much. $175 for a poor experience. The Georgetown roll was pleasant.

My girlfriend and I stumbled upon this hidden gem right next to the AMC movie theater after catching a film, and we’re so glad we did! We walked in with barely any appetite but left completely satisfied—and having tried nearly half the menu, thanks to our incredible bartender, Katherine.
Katherine was not only knowledgeable but also an excellent guide through the menu. She knew exactly what we’d love and made every suggestion with such confidence—it was impossible to say no. We started with the maguro tataki & hamachi tiraditos, both amazingly delicious. The chicken gyoza was perfectly crisp, and the buenos aires & churrasco rolls were standouts.
To top it all off, Katherine recommended the Perfect Snow sake, and let’s just say, we finished the entire bottle in minutes.
From the delicious food and drinks to the exceptional service, this was truly an unforgettable experience. We’ll definitely be coming back—and bringing friends next time. Highly recommend!

The service was fantastic! Very attentive and helpful staff. The restaurant in general was... meh. The Nomidori cocktail was lightly savory, which I enjoyed. Wasn’t good enough to order a second though.
Food:
Spicy Salmon Squares: 1/10
They titled it “spicy” because it was topped with spicy aioli… but there was not a hint of spice whatsoever.
Described as “crispy rice” but really was stale rice, probably left over from several days ago, that they decided to deep fry and label as “crispy.” I love a good crisp… however, rice got stuck to my teeth in every bite.
The salmon was good though!
Hinode roll: 10/10
Aside from the excellent service, it was only good thing about this restaurant. It was complex and delicious! The flavor changed as I continued biting into the roll! Possibly one of the best rolls I’ve ever had. Zero soy sauce needed!
Buenos Aires roll: 4/10
A beautiful smokiness on the roof of the mouth, then not much flavor after. Some soy sauce needed.
Selva roll: 2/10
It had avocado, asparagus, cucumber, mango, cilantro, topped with “special sauce.” I tasted zero mango, cilantro, or special sauce. I soaked in soy sauce… all 6 edges.
The only reason I would ever return would be for happy hour (bar only). $10 cocktails and decently priced bowls. Never for sushi again though.

I went to this restaurant with my sister, and it was practically empty. However, the woman at the reception (white, blonde hair, glasses) was incredibly rude and refused to seat us, claiming the restaurant was full. There were plenty of empty tables, and I even checked the reservation system, which showed available tables at the same time we arrived. This was completely unprofessional and frustrating. I will never be coming back again!

I felt compelled to write this review because I was astonished at the level of subpar service received. I was invited to Sushería by a couple of friends that were there and already seated. Once I arrived my friends were visibly frustrated and told me that the service has been bad since they’ve been there. Notably telling me they had to get their own water and that one of the appetizers they ordered did not come out at all. After looking at the menu, I told the waitress I wanted a Georgetown roll, which was confirmed. A few minutes later, my friends jokingly said that it probably won’t come out.. I kid you not 30 minutes went by and the waitress came back asking if the sushi roll came out. I said no, and she replied she would check with the kitchen and let us know. Another 15 minutes go by and she comes to our table and says that my roll was mistakenly sent to the table next to us. At this point now I am upset and completely understand what my friends were talking about when I arrived. It took 50 minutes for the one roll of sushi I ordered to come out. That is grossly inexcusable. I have work in hospitality before so I understand that servers may be overwhelmed at times but this was not the case. The restaurant and food itself was very nice but my experience with the service changed all of that. At the end of our dinner, my friend vocalized his honest opinion of the service which I’m glad he did.
To Sushería: you have a nice restaurant and I hope my experience was an isolated incident, but if the service we received is the standard, you will lose customers from that alone.

I went there because of an inkind coupon and I wanted sushi, and pisco sour.
Pisco sour was ok they’ve had a fusion which was meh.
For appetizers , I got tuna squares it was not tartare but some tuna ball causa from a can , then each sushi roll was $20 and above which is ok if you are for the experience , all of them were horrible, the spider roll had traces of soft shell crab and came like a California roll plain, the sashimi plater was ok, zero decoration like normally Asian style or Japanese sushi, the amazónico roll was steak plantain rolled up in a sushi personally carne con arroz ,
I met Peruvian chefs and I went to fusion restaurants( they are on top of their food. they are amazing)
This restaurant is NOT a Peruvian Japan fusion food, I don’t know what is this, maybe for some uncultivated people who don’t know what is the fancy place vs the ripoff can literally spend $100 bucks each one and felt is fine with zero quality on their products nor the experience.
On top of that the restaurant was infested of mosquitos who literally, ate my leg ,our server was sweet but she can’t change the food nor the place.
This is a dirty expensive restaurant.
I spent $215.00 for 2 people and came home unsatisfied and scratching my legs due to the bites.

Rolls are pricey but very good and it is the first place where meat based rolls come together nicely.
Recommended: Amazonico, Churrasco, King of Spades, Fresco, and Hinode.
Good but not as exciting: Chicha spicy (also: not spicy)
As a starter, the Spicy Tuna Squares are a tasty option.
you can skip the Gyoza, sizeable not as good in general, and definitely not at par with the rest of the food.
Expensive cocktails.
Service is quite slow, but worth the wait even if you would expect something more attentive at this price point.

Food is awful. Worst sushi I have ever had in my life, and waaaaaaay over priced. $20-$25 for 8 pieces is insane. And $20 for 2 pieces of salmon nigiri is crazy. Calamari was so chewy and taste so cheap we did not even finish it. The rolls that came out were dry and the rice was stale. Our waitress barley spoke English which is not an issue but when we have to ask for a rum and coke over and over again and she doesn’t doesn't understand, then it gets annoying especially when the food is awful. Please don’t waste your money here. I can’t say enough that this is the worst sushi I have ever had in my life!

Expensive but tasty fusion of Hispanic and Japanese cuisine. I ate my meal before I could take a picture of it. Atmosphere was pretty good, I really like the house mix they had playing. Didn't try anything to drink but water, which was sparkling from a bottle. Would recommend if your wallet is a little too full and you want some Hispanic sushi.

It's really hard to say 5 stars, that's a really high honor to me not given lightly, but they fully deserve it.
If you a a fan of sushi, this is the place for you. Really comfortable inside, awesome service, fantastic drinks.
OH, right, the food. There is no comparison in the area. None, at least not that I've found. It is a bit pricey but my, my, my... It's worth it if you want great sushi and fantastic service.
The rolls are impeccable, a beauty to behold. It's almost a shame to eat them.... Almost. But damn they are good.

I was hoping with a high rating this place would be better.
1. prices are ridiculous
2. Rolls were okay but its more fusion than actual sushi
3. Poke bowl was good, rolls not so much
4. Service was pretty slow, got everything at random times. Drinks right away but rolls and poke bowl came at different times and poke bowl took almost 15-20 minutes when the restaurant was maybe half full.
Service wise, they charge different prices with or without cash. I used the inkind app and they didnt say which price to use and still had both on the receipt - auto add 20% gratuity (which makes no sense and is nowhere in the app).
When I didnt use the right amount they continued to ask to pay the like 4-5 dollar difference via cash or card even though it is technically their mistake.
Wouldn't come back as you can get better sushi elsewhere and cheaper. Maybe it works for tourists as it has many cooked rolls vs raw fish

The service was great but the food was awful. The sushi we got had really stale potatoes and the ceviche was sour and mushy. My nonalc drink cost $12 and was not worth it.

Got there at 11:10 Sat night for dinner; host told me the kitchen closed at 11. I said ok but your website clearly states "dinner hours" until 12 and I even called multiple times, but no answer. Asked to speak with the manager who was Othmane El Yaichi who i had to ask 4 times to give me his name. He said let me go ask the kitchen. Came back said they'd serve me, but I should've made a reservation and said he checked their phone and I never called smh. I understand the service industry and would never show up last months but almost and hour prior to stated dinner last call only to be treated with control is unacceptable.

Went here for an anniversary dinner last night. The ambiance is elegant, the servers are very nice and welcoming (shoutout to Gabby and her recommendations!), and the food is very tasty and unique. The gyozas and fusion sushi rolls were great and we enjoyed a simple mochi dessert after. :)

The service was good. Very friendly and attentive. The food was okay. The roll I got wasn't sushi in my opinion. It was french fries wrapped like sushi with a tiny piece of steak on top. It was tasty but it is not what is considered sushi. Didn't know what to expect when I ordered it. I don't think it was worth the price in my opinion. The gyoza was good but no better than anywhere else I have had it.
I wouldn't go back based on the price. I wouldn't recommend it. It's expensive because of the location. We went there randomly looking for a place to eat. I've had better sushi for much less. This place is in a nice area by the river and is very nice inside. However, the bathroom felt like I was in a dive bar. It was dirty and the decor didn't match the rest of the restaurant. They weren't busy at all when I was there.

We stumbled upon this spot on our last night in DC, and it was truly a gem. I only docked 1 star because of the price (which made it harder to order some things we would have liked), but the food was great, and the service was top notch! Loved our waitress. We would def come back.

I'm torn because the staff were all very friendly and understanding. Two Peruvian dishes were also pretty good.
The problem was after we ordered the nikkei nigiri platter, we noticed a few of the fish had been substituted. We asked our server and she roped in another person who said they get their fish shipments each week (holy cow red flag) and since it was later in the week they subbed some random fish they had on hand.
If that was all, hey wished they had told me, but I wouldn't mind if it tasted fine.
It did not. When he said it was the end of the week, he meant it. That fish was ollllddddd af and smelt like it. It was legit the only time eating sushi that I ever left food behind out of health concerns. This one scallop was so rancid that I could smell it without lowering my head to the plate.
No chef wants to serve that and the staff was nice as heck. They KNEW. This is likely management cutting corners and endangering diners to try to increase profit margins. I hope you all turn it around after Gordan Ramsey visits.

Do not waste your money here!!! They tried to serve me old, brown tuna in my sushi. When I told them to take it back, a very creepily, foreign, so-called manager lectured to me that the brown tuna was a special breed of tuna, and that I was wrong. They tried to make it up to me by bringing a complimentary dish of even more spoiled fish. Disgusting. This place is a fraud.

I visited Susheria for my friend's birthday. The cozy atmosphere was great, and the miso soup and spider roll were delicious. However, there was no soy sauce on the table. When we asked for some, a staff member squirted it into our plates but didn’t leave the bottle, which was odd. Overall, good food but the soy sauce situation needs fixing.

Made the reservation through OpenTable for 6 and had a last minute addition and they were accommodating, so that was nice. Note that indoor reservation for 5 or 6 seems to be fulfilled on tables for 4, with additions on each end, which can be challenging to find space on the table for all the plates coming in. The food and drinks tasted great! Make sure to ask how many pieces come with the rolls to order. The menu says 8 pcs except for one specific roll at the bottom of the list, however we ordered 2 different rolls and one came with 5 and the other one with 6 pieces only. That's not convenient especially if you order with the intention of sharing. I just wished the attendant had let us know in advance. I'll go back to try more stuff.

Went there for a date with my wife. Ambiance was good. The decor is very elegant and makes you feel like you've come to a high end, well curated spot. Food was fantastic. The sushi in particular was very good. As good if not better than The Hamilton. Drinks were great. A well kept industry secret is alcoholic beverages are often watered down to save cost. Not at this place. One Manhattan and I was good for the night! :)
Looking forward to our next visit there to try something else on the menu!
We had an issue at the restaurant but since posting a review here (which I removed), management reached out with a fair offer to compensate us for the inconvenience. in the end they dealt with things in a professional manner.

We love Sushería! Come here every time my parents are in town, and it’s consistently the best. Highly recommend the Spicy Tuna Squares, Pisco Sours, and the Georgetown Roll. Gabriela is the best!

The sushi was very good 👍🏼 but for those who are in the mood for something different we were surprised to see the Lomo Saltado on the menu. It is a Peruvian dish with steak 🥩 pictured. That dish was simply amazing. The atmosphere is very chic and a great place for a date. Highly recommend. 💯

Gabriella was such an incredible joy to work with. She was vibrant and joyful. Her customer service was impeccable. She was the best server I have experienced in the Georgetown area. I am hopeful to come back here to experience this place again.

Nice upbeat vibe with music constantly I. The background. We can hear many years ago (it may have been under different ownership and different name) and loved it. We came In for drinks and lite eats at the bar . Ordered a cab and the salmon squares. It wasn’t what we expected (salmon was puréed) . We didnt have a chance to try the rest of the menu but not f you like fusion- sushi, you will want to try this place.

Amazing choice for our dinner tonight, our server Camila was amazing recommending us some drinks and food that were 10/10. I loved the vibes of this restaurant, I would definitely be back.

Food was good, but service was horrendous, our server Camila Ramirez had a nasty attitude and was very disrespectful, lots of eye rolling, walking away mad when brought the wrong dish. I spoke to the manager and he apologized for her behavior Not once did Camila apologized for her behavior, she came to the table with small cups of chicha to say “this is for the misunderstanding with the Sebastian” my family and I ate our appetizers and left to a restaurant across the street.

AMAZING SERVICE!! We went here for my sister’s sweet 16. The food was delicious and our waitress was very nice and checked up on us often! We even got a free lava cake for the birthday! We love this restaurant so much and we can’t wait to come back next time!

I went here on a Saturday at 7pm. We had a reservation for 8, were on time and seated immediately.
Susheria had great food and the waitress was very kind. They celebrated my friend’s birthday with sparklers and a dessert.
That said, we waited well over an hour after ordering to receive our sushi, despite receiving ceviche almost immediately. We arrived at 7, ordered by 7:30 and finally received our food somewhere around 9. Our check arrived at around 9:30. The restaurant’s pacing meant that we kept drinking while waiting for our sushi, and kept waiting and kept drinking.
We had some confusion over a member of our party ordering gyoza as a main plate, but it only being delivered as an appetizer—and us being charged for an extra gyoza. The music was also incredibly loud—to the point that we got loud decibel alerts on our watches.
They did lower the volume enough to make it bearable, but it tooo figuring out who to ask. They did give us a small cordial as a gesture for the delay, and our waitress, Camila, really shown out as the star of the evening.
tl;dr: the food here was good, the waitress herself was good—if only we’d seen them!
the atmosphere minus the music was good, but it should not take 1-2 hours to prepare sushi (and if it does, they should give a disclaimer (and not bring out someone’s meal promptly at 7:30 & the remaining sushi at 9)).

Last weekend, my family and I came to this place. At first I did not like the prices, but I changed my mind. I loved the service of the caterers. One of them treated me kindly,. He told me that he is from Morocco, and he was always smiling with us. I also loved the food and the music.

We had my birthday dinner here and it was an amazing experience. The atmosphere feels upscale yet comfortable. The food was amazing, try the spicy tuna with crispy rice to start and the salmon belly nigiri was melt in your mouth good. Our server was Camila, she was amazing. She was prompt and made sure we had everything we needed at all times. Also the cocktails are fab. I definitely recommend this spot if you're in the area. The fish also tasted super fresh.

This might be my favorite restaurant in DC currently. The atmosphere was beautiful, the service was impeccable and of course the food was delicious. Highly recommend!!!!!

Anna is the best waitress EVER. When I could not decide which cocktail I loved more, the "Pisco Sour" or the "Lit Chi", she put lychee fruit in the Pisco Sour, and created perfection. Now, I drive all the way from Philadelphia, just for that cocktail. I use any excuse to go Susheria with my girlfriends. Such a great crew and a fantastic restaurant!

Phenomenal food, some of the best that DC has to offer! The Fraga-Abaza’s are also an amazing family and help create an equally amazing atmosphere in the restaurant. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the DC area, or any locals that have not been

Style over substance. Beautiful restaurant, downright bad to mid food. I don't mind paying extra for good food, but here the prices are high and the quality is not good. I've never had to send a dish back in my life and I did for the first time didn't bother asking for a replacement nor was I offered one. Service was questionable too maybe they're jaded and are used to people sending the food back here. I hate writing negative reviews but I feel it's warranted here which is a shame.

Mid at best. Felt like a scam in my opinion. EXTREMELY SMALL PORTIONS. $19 for 4 slices of tuna tataki. $6 for 6.8 oz club soda. They charge a bogus fee bc they can’t afford their own prices. The menu is vague af. Waitress was in the clouds. Boring all together. Gave 2 stars bc the food runners were nice people and the place appears to be clean. Go spend a stack at Le Diplomate instead and feel full.

Amazing food, but the prices are a little bananas considering the portion size. If you're going and would like to feel full, I would recommend budgeting around $40-$50 per person, give or take depending on age and appetite. We spent around $70 for two of us, and left feeling very hungry. We actually stopped at a pub on the way home.
Service was fine, but not exceptional as one might expect for the prices. The atmosphere was really classy, great music, excellent decor, very clean! It was okay, just read the menu before hand so you don't get sticker shock!

Susheria is one of my favorite restaurants. My sister and I love this place. The food is always very delicious and the environment is always very presentable. I love their volcano rolls and their Aji de Gallina. - original review
Update:
The menu has definitely changed a lot; please bring back the ají de gallina :(
Customer service is still on point (5 stars)

LOVED! Patt was our server and she was so kind. I’m vegetarian, so it’s hard to find interesting sushi places that don’t just serve avocado rolls. They had tons of interesting rolls for vegetarians and fish-eaters! Definitely recommend the gyoza. I would 100% go again.

Excellent sushi - very high quality, fresh and delicious. I was impressed to find such good sushi tucked away in this DC spot. Dinner is pricey, though, so be warned. Cocktails were excellent and well-made, with some fun flavors to try (passion fruit pisco was a hit!). Nice hip interior.
