Japanese inspired restaurant located in Westport, CT
Very welcoming and catered to by staff! The food presentation was picture-perfect. The taste of each plate was a different experience to enjoy. The atmosphere was relaxed and intimate and played great music. You must make reservations ahead of time in order to dine in. Overall, I would say the food taste was an 8.5 out of 10, but the service from all the staff was a firm 10 out of 10. I would recommend this place to those who love Sushi.

A classy way to experience Japanese cuisine! Love the vibe at this former firehouse. We visited on a Wednesday evening and they were packed, so this is definitely a popular spot, and for good reason! They have a great variety on the menu with some unique items that I don’t see too often on typical Japanese restaurants, like the crab fried rice with quail eggs and wild mushroom bao. We really enjoyed the matcha Kit Kats for dessert! Impressive timing from the kitchen and professional staff. Definitely a great place to dine in Westport!

This review is purely on the "omakase". While we went into this knowing it wouldn't be completely traditional, I think omakase is a huge misnomer here, and a prix fixe dinner is more appropriate. There were a few bites that were really awesome, and then most other things were a really blah. I think we would've been better off and much happier just ordering sushi ala carte.
First, unless you have the actual four person table, the chef's counter is kind of an awkward place at the expediting counter, which is cool on one hand seeing the orders, but still doesn't have a great view on any prep, and also is a bit irritating when everyone keeps kicking or knocking into your stool as they pass through the narrow corridor that you're seated in. There's literally no way around this.
Second, like I said before, there were maybe three or four items that were spectacular, and the rest of the nigiri was very blah and unmemorable. The ending savory dish is an entree of cooked salmon which is perfectly cooked, but if you're at a sushi restaurant, why would this be the finale?
Finally, we had entered our dietary restrictions when the reservation was made. The staff also confirmed multiple times with us during dinner about those restrictions, which we thought was really attentive. So we sit through a 2-3 hour dinner, with them knowing our restrictions the entire time beforehand, only to come to dessert to find out that they didn't have any dessert for us at all. It was incredibly awkward as it was presented as essentially they didn't have anything for us, and there weren't any alternatives being offered either, just "we don't have anything." Like, not even maybe offering a matcha, or dessert wine, or comp on the cocktails that we purchased aside from our alcohol pairings..? Just, ok, while you paid for a set menu, you don't get part of it, and you just need to be ok with it.
All in all it was a really disappointing experience for something that we'd been really excited about.

Not worth the price for the omakase at all. Fresh fish shouldnt smell fishy like it did from my prevous experiences elsewhere. Forgot to give us our wine and sake pairing then just starting passing drinks at us. Very underwhelming. Chefs table is a small booth where you dont see anyone making your sushi ect. You just stare at a line cook. Definitely would not recommend.

Great place for high-end Japanese cuisine with dedication to quality ingredients. If you’re looking for something special in Fairfield County, this is it! Wild-caught seafood — such as wild-caught Ora king salmon — and authentic Japanese fish imported from Japan are the highlights of the menu.
The tempura Maitake mushroom was phenomenal - and so were the 2 dipping sauces that came with it. The Miso soup was the best I’ve had. The flavor palette was far richer than what I typically remember.
Certainly the highlight were the rolls and the sushi — all delicious and labeled in the pictures. Despite the salmon roll being phenomenal, my favorite was the cedar smoked black cod. If you’re into smokey flavor, that one was a winner (and I’m glad I got 2 of them).
My advice: leave space for desert!! The house-made macha kit-katz were a delicious surprise! I was amazed to find crunchy tasty texture on the inside and tasty chocolate on the outside.
Our waitress, Rosey, was so sweet to get us a chocolate sundae (house-made) with Oko house-made crunch, which was divine! And I don’t even like chocolate, so I really mean it.
Rosey was also very knowledgeable about the food — given it was my first, I had a lot of questions which she patiently answered and even made recommendations based on my food preference!
Overall, what a treat! (And a great place to celebrate my birthday.)

Quality and variety of the fish is amazing here. Also, do not miss out on the drinks; each one is unique and perfectly made. A bit on the pricier side, but for what you are getting you'll have to make the trek into the city for any close comparison. Service was very attentive.

The food here is really yummy and super great quality. I had a bunch of nigiri, a hand roll, and steak for my main (which was cooked and seasoned perfectly).
Also love that they had some mocktails on the drinks menu, which were really good as well. Another cool thing - all of their tempura is gluten free, fried in a separate fryer. I think it would be great for them to include “gf” next to gluten free options on their menu!
The ambiance was nice, good place for a date or small group gathering. Service was great as well. Can’t wait to go back!

One of the best sushi places in Connecticut. It’s great for a special date or night out. I am picky about my sushi but everything I had here was fantastic. I wanted to eat around the menu so after a few appetizers I got the chef 5 piece sushi and 3 piece handrolls. I cannot wait to come back and do it again!

READ THE FINE PRINT before you order!! This is no longer the innocent Oko it used to be. I used to come here all the time and I made the mistake thinking that things are the same. I ordered my usual and, to save a little money, decided to forgo the Pellegrino and get a club soda instead. Little did I know…
First, the miso soup: a tiny bowl of miso soup is now $8. Next, the chef’s selection of hand rolls: used to be $18, now it’s $30. And the kicker? That tiny glass of club soda, of which I had to order a bunch of “refills” to satisfy my thirst? $7 each time they brought out a glass. No free refills here. I spent more on what I thought was cheap club soda from the soda gun than I did on my very overpriced meal. Feeling disappointed and more than a little ripped off.

There aren’t many places in Connecticut that pay this much attention to what they are serving. Oko is one of the best spots for food in the state. The staff is professional, the atmosphere is small and intimate and the food is uniquely hand crafted. Kat at the bar made the experience really nice and gave some fantastic recommendations in terms of food to try. We had miso soup, followed by their incredible tempura that they are known for. Then as a main we had a bunch of different nigiri as well as the wild sea bass dish with turnips and “forbidden” purple rice. It was all delicious and clean, everything melted in your mouth. Miso soup was extremely unique. We will be back!

We made a reservation and went in wanting an omakase, we were told that wasn't possible at the time we sat which was totally okay but a little frustrating because there was no differentiation when reserving online. But that should have told our server that we were ready to spend an absurd amount of money on an experience.
15 minutes in we were finally able to order drinks. 15 minutes later we were finally able to order food despite the fact our server was standing right in front of us and made eye contact with us, but walked away. I saw it was busy so i gave the benefit of the doubt but it felt as if until we spent a certain amount of money, we were largely ignored. The quality of food and drinks were great, I would give that 5 stars. I've had better but it was still a very solid option. The hamachi was next level, best fish of the evening. The duck & foie gyoza were delightful, perfect bites. But I cannot get over the poor experience our server provided. I won't go out of my way to be back.

Think of this place as a location for tasting, not satifying your appetite, aka don't go hungry. It's more of a restaurant with an innovative attempt at turning Japanese cousine into a more avangarde cullinary experience. Well, when it comes to their grilled octopus dish, "less is more" should definitely be taken into consideration. You can hardly taste the octopus, if at all, because it is overpowered by the pineapple+bacon combination, combined with whatever other ingredients in the dish. So that was a bit of a let down. The sticky ribs are alright, my kid devoured them. Not by the staff's fault (though one could argue that a server could pay attention at the dish when grabbing it from the cookline) a lantern fly was roaming around on the dish (the sticky glaze was sticky enough that prevented the bug from taking off anymore) So I guess they made up for that by not charging us for one piece of salmon sushi that we had order prior to the "main" meal (I handed the bug to the server discretely so that the tables around us don't notice)
All in all, I'd come back to this place for the thrill of a cuisine adventure, but not to actually experience a real sushi. For that, I'll opt for a traditional Japanese restaurant.

Dining at Oko was a mixed experience. The Chef’s Choice 10-piece nigiri should be renamed “Mystery Nigiri”—we were left guessing what each piece was, as no explanations were provided. The service was rushed; miso soup and nigiri arrived simultaneously, disrupting the meal’s flow. Despite being busy, drink orders took long. For the price, a trip to Manhattan offers a more refined and attentive experience. Oko has potential but needs to embrace true hospitality and culinary storytelling to stand out.

Food is delicious, cocktails were well crafted and shaken to perfection by bartenders Nancy and Gulianna. Oko will always be a must whenever we want fantastic food, cocktails , service and atmosphere . 5 stars in every category!!

For the price point it lacks the fundamental features of high-end Japanese omakase. I assume this is due to it being not Japanese. Japanese pride themselves in the technical aspects and delivery of certain protocols. This place is a chaotic scene and kitchen knife work are performed by cooks rather than experts of the industry. I witnessed knives not cleaned in between cuts of different fish. Often cuts are butchered rather than properly trimmed with precision. Omakase is not personal or attentive given the cooks need to also support table orders. This obviously is challenging for the staff in a busy evening. The good news is the demographic area don’t really care and it lacks a standard for comparison. There are no Japanese restaurants in Fairfield county. Mostly faux or one where the owner hasn’t been to Japan in over 45 years. It’s a shame Fairfield county doesn’t know or demand better.

My friend and I went to this restaurant for omakase. It was very disappointing. They are definitely not reaching the omakase standard. Before the dinner, I asked the waitress who would make omakase today and she told their chief chef. During the dinner, I began to wonder the chef’s skills and asked the waitress again. She told me that they were made by Brian Lewis. I couldn’t imagine any of these dishes could be made by a reputable chef and asked: “ is he in the restaurant today?” Finally the waitress told me that these dishes are designed and inspired by him, not made by him. And he is usually not in the restaurant.
The omakase came with decent amount. You will feel full. I got urchins, toros etc. they are fresh but just not well prepared to it’s perfect taste.
The restaurant’s decorations and atmosphere is not very upscale. You will also get disposable chopsticks.
I like omakase in general, especially those good ones in Manhattan. I hope Brian Lewis can pay more attention to his restaurant in Westport.

I have been to Japan and the food at Oko doesn't even come close. The sushi is completely forgettable and the tempura is actually hard! I don't even know how they do that! Our drinks were so late, we ordered food and it came before our drinks! The prices are outrageous for the quality. 4 adults and one 5 year old...over $300!! That's insane. Instead of focusing on variety, I think they should focus on quality. We aren't going back.

I have lived in Westport for a long time. Most of the higher end restaurants are good or very good. OKO is just terrible. I’ve just ordered takeout for the 4-5th time in the past year, (so this is not a review of just one experience).
All were poor or terrible. Each time the sushi was poor or actually suspect.
And like all of Fairfield county, Westport, price is not an issue. This meal was $85, for 2 people, take out, so no drinks.
I will never be back.

Just went tonight and had the omakase, what a waist of money. I'm full but not happy.
Sushi rice should be served warm, at these prices I should not feel like I'm eating high end supermarket sushi. The rice was COLD, the fish was bland. Every piece of fish tasted the same except for the warm dishes the toro.
Very disappointed
Visited 2 years ago
I was skeptical that suburban sushi could ever be as good as what I have had in the city but I was impressed with OKO. The sushi was fresh, not overly prepared to mask the taste of the fish and yet there was complexity in each piece. Service was extremely warm and friendly.

I went to Oko with my family and we were intending to celebrate a birthday. Instead, I have suffered with horrible food poisoning since eating here. The service was quite unfriendly- despite making the reservation indicating we were celebrating a birthday, instead we were treated to hostile waitress who seemed angry to serve us. The drinks were overpriced and tastes NOTHING like how they were described (like the Pineapple Express tasting more like a stiff bourbon…) and when it came to the food… oh boy.
My family and I love Japanese food! We love to try new things and were initially excited to try the menu. As vegetarians we needed a little help navigating the menu. The waitress seemed irritated to help, flippantly telling us just to read (although many words for the ingredients on the menu are not English words, so we were justifiably confused and just wanted clarity). She even recommended dishes that were blatantly non-vegetarian (the persimmon salad with fish sauce). So ordering wasn’t fun. But we submitted our order.
The edamame was not good- the seasonings added very little to the dish and the quality of the edamame was akin to the frozen edamame from Costco. It did not merit the steep price tag. Next were the shishito peppers (which we got without the guanciale)- the spice level of the peppers was inconsistent so while one would be okay to scarf down, another would be shockingly spicy. This is not abnormal with this dish. The absolutely scorched peppers that looked like ashes in my fireplace were not normal. Burnt with an unpleasant aftertaste. Next were the dumplings- those were nice, but WAY overpriced: I would have expected a few more for the price (just 4 tiny dumplings!). The mushroom bao was delicious- it tasted A LOT like the Shroomburger at Shake Shack. But for $10, you get EXACTLY one bao. The batter on the bao (like a lot of the battered dishes) was falling apart and wet, meaning the oil was definitely not hot enough. So while it tasted great, still had some flaws.
We then got the tempura- now the chef chooses what tempura you’ll get and because our waitress was simply SO RUDE she refused to listen to my dad who had an ask for the squash tempura- Our whole family LOVES squash and wanted to try it and I just wasn’t expecting someone to berate my dad of all people just for having a request… really gross behavior. The tempura batter was falling apart on the veggies and kinda gooey… like it wasn’t fully cooked. And here’s the deal: if eggs aren’t fully cooked you can easily get salmonella. Food poisoning. We liked the aioli (but not the soy sauce mix which was not balanced AT ALL!) but struggled to eat the tempura with how the batter was falling, the veggies soggy with oil, and just this being a shockingly low quality tempura dish.
Finally the mushroom bento. A dish I really, spectacularly, regret getting. Let’s start with the edamame provided: unseasoned frozen edamame with not an ounce of flavor or freshness. The koshikari rice was never explained to us (obviously because our waitress felt strongly if we had questions we weren’t worth the effort of an answer) so I didn’t realize it was just white rice: no worries, that’s common in a bento. The tempura in this was somehow worse than the actual tempura: the batter was DEFINITELY raw, a little liquidy and falling off the veggies. I really started feeling sick eating this. But I straight up almost vomited eating the maitake mushrooms. I am POSITIVE these mushrooms were not clean, tasting gritty and NASTY. They were seasoned with some syrup that left them tasting like dishwater and I promise, two bites and I was begging to go to the bathroom. The table next to us had the same reaction to the same dish.
I’ve had food poisoning since dinner (4 days) and as I suffer I felt the need to warn anyone thinking of eating here of this!

Okko is a great Japanese restaurant we love it. We often take out but the problem is sometimes to take out communication is difficult. I’d like to see that they can streamline their phone service so that when we call we can someone they answer without having to go through another alternative website. Life is getting more complicated but this should be a simple straightforward event. But the food is excellent. This needs to be straightened out my opinion.

The attitude of the staff was horrendous, we received food before receiving drinks, they forgot at least one item and when when we asked about it at the end of the meal, we were told they would check on it and that was the last we heard. We received the wrong items (and wrong numbers of things) and nobody checks on you, nobody asks you if there is anything you need, etc. This is nothing like you’d expect for the amount you’re paying—not at all with the price. We’ve had much better sushi in other local places. (With better food, better service, better cost.)

I tried omakase. Hamachi sashimi was not good at all. Nigiri were fair to good, shari size was good, temperature is ok, vinegar quality I prefer more Akazu. fish quality were good for Madai, maguro, toro. But so so for Shima aji. This is not a purist edomae sushi. There were different toppings on nigiri. Scallop were too salty. Overall my experience was just ok for omakase. But i will come back to try ala carte menu.

Covid hasn’t been kind to this place. The food is still pretty ok for Connecticut, but it now comes with New York attitude and belligerence. We used to spend at least $600/month here, mostly out of desperation to taste something that resembles sushi. Will now have to travel to Greenwich when in CT, I guess. I placed a $300 order on their website 24 hours in advance. They canceled the order 4 hours before scheduled pick up and told us they were understaffed. But then they offered us a reservation at the bar. So I asked if they had enough staff to make me the same food at the bar, couldn’t I technically come in, order it and then ask them to pack it up to go? I was told that the food was ONLY for in-house dining. So then I asked if they will actually force me to eat if there. I was told that the manager will get back to me about that. I am still waiting to hear. I don’t know how we got to a place where I feel I have to beg a restaurant to take my money. Something tells me it’s not a staffing issue. And then I wonder: Was this place worth saving during lock down? If you are here for the sushi, Greenwich has 1-2 decent options or, if you are up for a scenic drive, the sushi restaurant in Washington Depot is always amazing, authentic and owned by a lovely couple.

I thought the food and ambience were largely good. The service was quite good as well. But the thing that drives my review down (materially so) is the price point. Kawani is 90% as good for 50% the cost, in my opinion.

I've been searching for quality sushi since moving to Connecticut. I came across Oko and came for the 14 dish omakase dinner . This meal was so finely currated . Each server knew every detail of each plate, and every piece I had had delicate yet complex flavors. From the a5 wagu , sea bream, amberjack , otoro and so on. This crew is sourcing the best ingredients. Sure, it's expensive. The best food usually is . I can see myself becoming a regular here.

I went to dinner expecting to see a normal a sushi menu but I happily surprised. The waitress recommended a few different types of sushi and every piece had a delightful, refreshing fusion of flavor. Oko has contemporary atmosphere and excellent service.

Literally the first time in history when I’m writing a review sitting in the place's parking lot.
Everybody in this place got an attitude like we are bothering them with our existence.
First we have been “greeted” by a waitress in glasses with up and down looking like we are in her way.
Then our waiter acted like we were bothering him with our questions. (It’s our first time here ofc we have questions about the menu and stuff) example of our convo:
-hey do you have deserts?
-yes
*me waiting for him to start listing what they have…..still waiting…..elevator music…..waiting….okay giving up*
-okay what do you guys have?
That type of dialogue we had all the time.
No one ever asked us how food is how is everything. Nobody smiled or was friendly at least a bit.
The Grand finale was we paid and left. Nobody said bye or anything.
I’m not Queen so I’m not looking for red carpet and all of the stuff standing in line greeting me with a big smile on their faces but I believe for Michelin star restaurant service like this is just unacceptable.
The food was okay tho.

The location was awesome. Food was disappointing, and overpriced for what it was. I'd like to see the menu have more variety.

Excellent menu, everything we chose was a work of art to the eye and taste. All sushi is by the piece so you will be able to sample an array of items. The staff is attentive and very knowledgeable and can describe all of the items on the menu. The cocktail menu is very good not over the top trying to hard, great classics with a modern twist. I can't wait to go back and explore more of the menu, just looking at what other tables were getting out of the kitchen. Save room for dessert trust me!!!!

The sashimi quality may a bit little better than other typical US sushi resturants but a lot pricier.
Lobster Ramen was disappointing considering its price point (~$1 korean noodle probably Nongshim-made, plus tiny amount of chopped up lobster meat)
Okinomiyaki was ok but ones I had in Osaka was much better. Good service and presentation.

As a customer who gets takeout from here 3-5 times a month. I was disappointed from the last time i picked up. Two of the spicy wagyu beef quail eggs fell off into the container. Ordered a piece of king crab that costs $11.00 and usually I don’t mind at all paying that much for the piece because it’s so delicious but tonight I was unfortunately disappointed by finding two pieces of shell in the piece of sushi. Hopefully was just a bad night for them.

Overall a fantastic and very consistent Japanese hotspot... Only reason for a missing star is the fact that their Toro Nigri was $19 and came very fishy -- it isn't how it should be. Otherwise, highly recommend sampling across the all sections of the menu. You cannot go wrong

Food was tasty but not as impressive as some reviews I read. I thought the cost was a bit high for the amount of food received. Probably won't be returning.

Good and fun food. Exciting options and knowledgeable service staff.
Japanese inspired food done right! Personal favorites were the Red Miso Grilled Octopus and Wild Mushroom Tempura Bao.
Definitely not a cheap meal but worth the price tag!
Called day of and was able to get a table with the help of a host. Was offered multiple seating times and reservation was promptly taken.
Dessert was good but didn't stand out like the rest of the menu did! 10/10 would recommend!

Easily one of the most interesting menus in Westport. If you're in the mood to try something different but consistently delicious, go to OKO. Even for people who are less adventurous there is plenty to pick from. The bento boxes are simple and great for takeout too. The cocktails list is very solid, but the lychee martini (off menu) is my go to

Excellent sashimi. Recommend the chef's selection sushi and the Otoro. Great place to take someone who isn't into raw/Asian food also because they have a great hot dinner menu. Drinks are good.

Be prepared to spend but best flavor combinations out there. Must try the Uni shooter for 20.00 and the Cedar Smoked Cod

Really great food. Our server was unfriendly and impatient with us though.

So let me start, the ambience is at the side of the river with good light ambience. If you’re looking for something cheap, go else where. So I had the Red Miso Grilled Octopus and the chef’s selection nigiri for appetizer. The red miso octopus is really great!! I would recommend ordering two. The nigiri however is really overpriced.
Now let’s move to the main dish, I ordered OKO Ramen Noodle that has lobster, black sesame and miyoga, it was okay~is but for $24? I think an Indo-mie is better together with a boiled lobster on the side. The Hamachi Belly Poke however is good as well.
I may have just ordered the wrong food but nonetheless, this is not your everyday restaurant that you keep on coming back. Total bill was around $90.17 for 2 appetizer and 2 entrés and a tea that has a very weak tea taste.

We drove a little over an hour to get to OKO for dinner on Sunday night, and I woke up this morning wanting to jump in the car and go back again tonight.
Everything we ate was delicious, there wasn’t a single bite we didn’t love. Our server Julia provided us with wonderful service and recommendations. I also noticed that she paid proper attention to the 7 other tables that dined around us throughout our stay; you could tell she was knowledgeable about the menu and took time to give everyone the attention they needed. She had a bright attitude, brought our drinks quickly, and paced our meal perfectly. We ordered a little of everything:
-Salted Cucumbers: delightfully briney, thinly sliced, we used these as a little palate cleanser during the whole meal.
-Chanterelle & Honey Nut Squash Poke: I have a soft spot for furikake so I knew I’d love this regardless, but the flavor of the rice is what really won me over.
-Sushi: we were pleasantly surprised at the balance between the complexity of flavors and textures in each piece while still respecting the flavor of the fish. The favorite was definitely the chutoro, anago (so fresh and light), and of course the Miyazaki beef. Oh, and the spicy tuna crispie. And the cedar smoked black cod. And also the bluefin tuna.
-Ramen Egg: so much flavor with crispy pork belly pieces for some contrasting texture. I don’t see myself eating any other deviled egg ever again.
-Hokkaido Uni Toast: hands down the best item we ordered. I won’t spoil it for you. Just order it, then try to resist the urge to order two more.
-Brussels Sprout Tempura: we ordered this at Julia’s suggestion, when we asked if there were any items we didn’t order that she would recommend. I was glad she suggested these. It seems like every restaurant has a Brussels sprout dish these days, and usually they’re boring. Not these—small and very, very lightly coated in tempura, the sprouts stayed soft in the center without being oily or heavy.
-Fried Chicken Bao: the bun was incredibly soft yet slightly stretchy, the chicken was lightly crispy and juicy, but the KIMCHI! my god, that kimchi.
-Pork Katsu Sando: the key to any sandwich is finding the perfect distribution of condiments or toppings in relation to the thickness of the bread and meat. This nails it. The bread has a slight sweetness that goes so well with the tangy mustard and the pork cutlet. Potato salad is pretty heavily dressed, but the vinegar content makes it enjoyable and not overbearing.
-Duck & Foie Gras Gyoza: the differentiation of the pulled duck and the foie gras inside the gyoza was impressive. Rich without being muddy or gamey thanks to the hint of 5 spice seasoning.
-Wild Mushroom Potsticker: my second favorite dish, the definition of umami flavor. Pickled mushrooms add the perfect zing to the incredible savory depth.
-OKOnomiyake: pork belly meets scallion pancake meets breakfast pancake with a yolky egg on top. I mean, seriously?? By the time this dish reached our table we were so full, as the portions were much larger than we expected. Julia assured us that while she normally doesn’t do leftovers, the okonomiyake actually tastes better the next day for breakfast. We took her advice and this morning I discovered she’s not wrong—I’m enjoying it again as I write this.
It’s going to be hard for me to dine at any other Japanese inspired restaurant for a long time. OKO and Julia truly knocked it out of the park.

Food: DO NOT GET THE POKE. I've lived in Hawaii, so I'm pretty picky with my poke. The poke here just isn't good - the fish tasted "fishy" and wasn't fresh. Everything else is OK - they put a ton of sauce on the fish, so you kind of lose the taste of "fresh fish."
Service/COVID: We tried to ordered 1 of each fish, but we ended up getting 2 of each (and paying for 2 of each). It's understandable to assume that a table with 2 people would want 2 of each, I suppose - but we tried to make it clear that we wanted one of each - yet still ended up with two. And then when it arrived, we felt bad telling them to take it back, so we didn't. In the end, it was just too much food.

First time there, ate outdoors. We had the chefs choice sushi, ribs, and a bunch of other stuff. Personally, I view Oko as a novelty restaurant. It won't be a regular haunt, more a place to bring friends and family to give them something different. Come prepared to try a bunch of new things, spend a good amount of money and not like everything. However, the things you do like, you will love! I loved the ribs, my fiance looooved the crunchy wagyu. Want something fun and new? Give Oko a try!

Had high hope going in this popular new eatery, but was a little disappointed. Had uni shot that smells not fresh and the color was darker than normal. Had vegetable tempura that dipping sauce was really salty. Sushi a la carte was nice. Would hesitate to recommend.

A fantastic Japanese inspired Brian Lewis restaurant! Great food and drinks in a comfortable environment. The sushi is fresh and flavorful with a great variety to choose from. The tempuras are the lightest and most flavorful I have eaten in a long time. The sakes are terrific as well. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly and accommodating.

A Japanese inspired restaurant is definitely not Japanese. So should you be desiring a Japanese meal you may want to pass.
If you are searching for a hint of Japanese, then this may suit your tastes. The standard fish (the American holy trinity - average tuna, salmon, and yellowtail) offerings are here. In addition, a few other fish and shellfish. Nothing leaped off the menu that seem remotely different than other sushi/sashimi establishments in the area.
IMO the Fish tastes like previously frozen, thawed, and slice from precut fillets of each fish. The sushi rice tastes flat without the proper technique of a rich saki - dashi preparation. Subsequently the fish and rice are seasoned and plated with too much one dimensional sauce (taste like store bought kewpie, soy sauce, yuzu, etc) and toppings (sesame seeds, scallions, etc). The techniques remind me of a novice trying to overcompensate for lack of experience and relationships with a proper sourcing vendor.
This is an average sushi establishment with better presentation (not tasting), higher price point with a nicer ambiance. A bit like what Mecha is doing for ramen in CT. Not my cup of tea or in this case plate of sushi/sashimi. Overall, I would save time and money to dine at a Japanese restaurant in the city (ie NYC) or just visit the other non-Japanese establishments that serve the same quality of sushi/sashimi with less sauce and toppings at a lower price point.

Stellar Japanese restaurant addition to downtown Westport. This joint is high-end and much like the other eateries on the water, it's a packed house nightly so reservations are highly recommended. The fare is delicious and prepared with foodies in mind. Fresh cuts of fish and a fine dining presentation make OKO one of the newest hot spots for those seeking to impress a date or just take the family out for a night.

I went here for my birthday with my boyfriend and it was amazing! First impression with the wait staff was perfect, answered any questions we had and made it an overall pleasant experience. The food was so wonderful with the sushi just melting in your mouth and the tempura batter was absolutely delicious and crispy! Made some of my least liked foods into a delicious treat.
