We are thrilled to be adding our second location in Old Town Fort Collins, another lively, modern space for Japanese tapas, sushi & sashimi, and daily happy hours
Fantastic experience. Server was attentive but distant enough to allow us time to enjoy our meal. Food was high quality. The nigiri melted in my mouth. We went for lunch. The Sushi Roll presentation was somewhat dull but the taste more than made up for it.
Very excited to have a quality Japanese food destination!!
Bill was $123 with tip. No alcohol.

This place is delicious!! Hands down the best place to go for sushi in Fort Collins. We got the gilded bee sushi , the gf calamari, the boulder bowl and the fireside mule (topped with a giant housemade marshmallow), and it was all out of this world. I’ve been a few times and they have consistently great service and consistently amazing food. I highly recommend trying this spot if you haven’t already! 🍣 🍸 🐙

Visited Ft. Collins for a few days and made a reservation at Japengo on a Friday night. Amazing sushi and wonderful overall experience. The service was friendly and knowledgeable. We had a party of 5 so we were able to sample many different dishes and we loved all of them. Cannot wait to return and continue to try new menu items and drinks!
Cocktails and Sake: The "Yutaka Smooth High Rollers" sake flight was very fun and tasty. Loved the Farm-to-Face Ole Fashioned made with a Japango barreled WhistlePig bourbon. Kakuhido's Revenge with egg white and NY float was beautifully made with a great balance of spice, sweet, and tequila heat. The Fireside mule was a smokey take on a traditional mule with a surprisingly good freshly toasted marshmallow.
Starters: The crispy brussels were wonderful. Both the homemade Shumai dumplings and the Lobster Potstickers were excellent.
Sushi and Sashimi: The New Zealand Salmon sashimi was the best salmon we've ever had...rich, buttery and perfect. The Hamachi Jalapeno was an excellent version of a Yellowtail tuna with jalapeno, soy and cilantro. All of the Nigiri were artistic, well made, and very tasty. The spicy tuna, salmon, and soft-shelled crab were especially good. Wonderful all around.
Ambiance: From the lighting, comfortable chairs, different seating areas and levels, and a centerpiece jelly fish tank, you can tell that the owners spent a ton of time and money making Japengo a destination restaurant.

Wonderful! A great spot for a casual dinner or a special occasion! Very good food. In the center of the dining area, there is a tank displaying live Jellyfish, which is intriguing! Street parking can be difficult to find, but there is a parking garage in walking distance.

This is my go to sushi place in Fort Collins. Whether I go for lunch or dinner, I always receive great service and food. I always get their lunch bento box, which is my favorite item on their menu. The sushi at Japango always comes out quickly and of great quality. I’ve been multiple times and I plan to go back many more times.

We sat at the sushi bar, it was a very busy night and it was so impressive to see the 6 sushi chefs turning out SO much sushi, and all the servers working so hard!
The cold sake was smooth and delicious. We had pork belly with Stilton, the best pork belly I've ever had, cooked to perfection. Shumai was so flavorful and huge, actually made in house, another surprise as most restaurants serve pre-made ones. Got a few sushi rolls, one with scallops and spice which was so good, and handroll with shrimp tempura and avocado- the nori paper is a high quality with a nice mild flavor, also had a tempura crab roll which I didn't care for the asparagus and lettuce in it and overall didn't have much flavor was good no great. Finished with a incredible dessert of sesame donut holes rolled in lime and sugar with a Caramel ice cream, holy moly that was SO good! Was around 94 for 4 drinks, 4 sushi, 2 appetizers and dessert, honestly was worth it and can't wait to go back!
I also had been here once before for lunch and had teriyaki bento box and was also very delicious.

First impression not great. Since Nimo Sushi closed (tears here) we were looking for something remotely Japanese at best. Not there. Place is great. Service is ok, everyone willing to do a good job, but food is deceiving to a point we did not expect. Wishing they spent less money on the decor and more on the food. Will try another time later when they iron out their dishes and organization.

Decent sushi, but the place is far too pretentious and upscale. Prices are ridiculous and they have Asparagus on like every roll for some reason. They do have a good selection of Vegan rolls at least.

We went here for my wife's birthday and left very disappointed. The restaurant was absolutely freezing and I had to wear a coat to stay warm. The sushi was good but overpriced for what you got. They have espearagus in almost half of their rolls, which i didn't love. We were still hungry after eating and tried the carrot cake. It tasted just like cornbread. Literally. Save your money and skip this joint.

Had a wonderful experience. We had just arrived into town and it was cold. We were looking for a place to grab lunch so we could warm up. We stumbled upon Japango and were pleasantly surprised. Our server Logan approached us immediately and within 5 min we had our warm miso soup and hot sake in front of us. We started chatting with Logan and he was so attentive. Come to find out this is the same this is another Japango like the one in Boulder that has been one of our favorites over the years. That didn’t dawn on me at first, and was a great surprise. We had many questions about the menu and Logan was so informative so
we took his suggestions and were so happy with our sushi and Salmon teriyaki box lunches they offer. The atmosphere is perfect. Lighting is soft and comfortable, very clean and such a cute spot. Music was on, all the requirements for a perfect atmosphere were spot on. So happy because I live so close to it now, I will be going there very often ! Congrats! This place seems to be doing everything right and Logan was a fantastic server for us.

One of the worst service experiences ever. They won’t split checks correctly (after offering to split) they just want to be lazy and split checks evenly no matter what you ordered. Took an HOUR just to get 6 checks sorted out correctly. Manager came over and was extremely rude and tried to lie and say they couldn’t do it when it had finally already been done. Would NOT recommend.

We’ve been here several times, including the soft open! Every time has been out of the world amazing! The prices are a bit higher but so is Jax 😂 much better services and options of food! My husband and I enjoyed dinner here last night, and every aspect of our experience exceeded our expectations!
The atmosphere was magnificent every where we looked, and the tank with live jellyfish was truly fabulous. We cannot say enough positive things about our server LOGAN! He greeted us promptly, was tremendously knowledgeable about the menu, and after hearing our sushi preferences Logan proceeded to recommend the perfect appetizers and sushi rolls for our tastes. We began with a bottle of wine, an order of ceviche, and an order of brussels sprouts . Both appetizers were delicious, but my husband commented that those sprouts were the best he had ever eaten! Logan was a master at chatting with us, checking in, but not hovering or rushing us! This is an art that few servers ever truly learn ( he should be training people there if he isn’t already doing so) and it was so well appreciated! Our two Special Maki that we enjoyed per Logan’s recommendation were the Kitsune’s Kiss and the Hiro Leili. Both were delicious! We ended or dinner with a warmed snifter of Grand Marnier and the Green Tea Crème Brûlée which were equally perfect. We look forward to dining at Japango again! arigatou gozaimasu!!

The price is way too expensive for what you receive. The udon was $44, but it came with only three pieces of fish (tuna, salmon, eel) and half a soft-shell crab that looks like leftover sushi scraps. The presentation was not great, with too much broth and the fish pieces just floating in it.

Pretty cool place to eat some fancy sushi and fish dishes. Food was on point with the wide selection of delicious dishes, drink selection was solid except they seem to be missing my expected level of service for the price you are paying for food and drinks. We sat at the bar, so table service may be different.
I will visit again. I'm pretty particular about sushi and service. This seemed like more of a large corporate operation focused on turnover than a local restaurant. The place was packed on a Thursday. Worthy of a visit and a choice you have to make for yourself.
You might just be impressed, depending on your taste, service expectations and budget.

Updated review: came here a second time and I will not be back. The first time was seriously amazing. The second time it seemed like we had no server… like at all. The manager was running around doing everything. We waited an hour and 20 mins for 4 rolls. It was a joke. There was barely 15 tables in the entire restaurant. Will be going to Sushi Fi from now on.

Updated review as of Oct. 5:
Unfortunately we had a very poor experience recently at Japango. We waited 20 minutes to have our order taken, asked 3 times (and waited 45 minutes) for sparkling water, were given dirty/greasy water glasses, and then after telling the waitress that we’re strict keto they served us a sweet potato salad.
The wait staff was obviously not attentive and poorly trained. We won’t be back…
Amazingly fresh fish considering we’re in the middle of the US. Decent prices for the quality of food.

The best sushi in Fort Collins hands down!! Once you give it a try it’s literally addicting how good it is. The fish is such high quality, it’s like butter. One of the only restaurants I can say everything is worth its price, down to the Miso Soup. I tell everyone I know to come here and it’s our new special spot! The vibes and food are delish all around, and the employees are very kind. Don’t hesitate to give it a try! (Not even to mention the sick jellyfish tank)

First visit was super. Love the atmosphere. We sat by the floor to ceiling doors looking out to the sidewalk. Very clean and comfortable chairs. I had the Bento box. I have had these at other sushi restaurants and this was the best. The steak was sliced thin and was juicy and flavorful. The California roll was perfect. The tempura vegetables were lightly battered just the way they should be. My wife had the Dynamite with lobster that was good. Service was great and friendly. We are looking forward to our next visit.

After reading plenty of reviews warning me of making sure I was ready to pay. I set aside what ended up being more than enough money. Sushi is not cheap. But I managed to sneak out of here at less than $100/person and roll out without wanting for more. The cocktails were excellently crafted, the sea salt in the Manhattan just elevated the experience. We did show up on a Wednesday night, and it was not terribly busy, nonetheless, service was excellent. King salmon melted in our mouths, black cod was stunning, even the herbal tea was top tier. Absolutely stunning evening from beginning to end.

I recently had an issue with a takeout order from here. When I showed up, they didn’t have a record of the order. I firmly believe that customer service is best shown when things are going wrong, and the staff here clearly believes the same.
After telling me that it’d be another 20 minutes for my order to be ready, they offered me a seat at the bar to wait and a complimentary drink. Then, when the food arrived they also handed me a gift card along with an apology (again) for the wait.
I cannot think of a single thing that they could’ve done to make this mishap better. Thank you to the team at Japango for the outstanding customer service. I’ll definitely be back in the near future.

Japango in Fort Collins is an absolute gem! From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a beautifully designed space that perfectly balances elegance with a relaxed vibe. The ambiance is just the beginning—what really sets Japango apart is its incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff. Whether you’re a sushi aficionado or a first-timer, the team makes you feel right at home and is always eager to share their expertise.

This restaurant was great! The sushi is perfect - interesting and flavorful without overly large bites some places serve that make you look like a chipmunk while eating haha. Loved the drinks - I had their new matcha infused gin cocktail which was really tasty. Atmosphere was really modern and the server was kind and knowledgeable. Will be back for sure!

Japango is a breath of fresh air for downtown Fort Collins. The ambience was phenomenal. You can tell they put a lot of work into the details of this place. The sushi was tasty and my cocktail was delicious. I always sit at the bar so I cannot speak to the table service but the bar staff is friendly and attentive.

As much as I wanted to love this place it was too expensive, and while the sushi was good the kitchen food was very meh. With so many places to eat around town this is a hard pass in the future.

I can’t wait to go back and have another dining experience in which I feel like I am getting treated like royalty! Thank you Japango staff for setting the bar so high! Fort Collins needed you!

Japango is everything Fort Collins needed. For years I’ve heard the same universal complaint that we needed good sushi.
Japango is great sushi. I love that the rolls aren’t overdone and over sauced. The rolls also have thoughtful ingredients - one of my favorite rolls has orange zest and sake butter on top for example.
You can really tell that the sushi chefs take pride in their rolls and everything always comes out beautifully plated. They also carry a new feature list each week that offer special cuts like Kanpachi, Otoro, Aji as an example.
There’s a huge list of yummy hot items like gyozas, lobster potstickers, pork belly and chicken teriyaki to name a just a few.
The aesthetics of Japango are also stunning. There’s a live jelly fish tank and a private glass room for larger parties. I love the details in all the glassware, the plates and how the building always feels cozy, open, airy.
Lastly the bar is impressive. Each cocktail provided is so special and curated perfectly.
They have a huge Japanese whiskey collection and a very impressive lineup of cold sakes and non-alcoholic beverages. They also offer a huge list of hot teas and Japanese beers. I don’t know anywhere in Fort Collins that provides this kind of beverage menu that benefits everyone in this fashion.
Japango has a kids menu, provides options for those who are celiac and gluten free, vegetarians and vegans. If you’re looking for an experience it’s right here - quality always takes time and any wait is always worth it.

The service was super slow at every step: Greeting us, bringing us the food, giving us the check, running our cards.
They automatically added 20%, which is to be expected for large parties, but like... they didn't earn that 20%.

Overpriced for quality and service. Food was not coming out together for a group. Tuna tasted kind of sour. Portion sizes were small. Rolls were like 6 pieces instead of the typical 8. Yadayadayada go to Kobe Sushi at Centerra
Oh and the manager blamed the service on the "new" waitress. It's not the waitress's fault the food came out so sporadically with long waits. They have two kitchens which they said "don't communicate".

We went for happy hour a couple weeks ago and loved the place. Our server was well versed with the menu and offered us some great recommendations based on what the wife and I like most. The sushi was fantastic and I think we had 3-4 orders of the hamachi off the HH menu. It’s well worth a try if you haven’t been!

Hands down my favorite sushi in Colorado! I live in Denver, but am in Fort Collins pretty regularly and always have to stop in at Japango. The staff is so friendly and knows the menu really well (I've dined with friends who have dietary restrictions and our servers are happy to point us in the right direction!)
Menu highlights for me are the Cactus Roll, Gilded Bee and Miso Black Cod but honestly haven't had anything I don't like! Same goes for the cocktails- all the one's I've tried are so good, but the Serrano Splash is a fave.
All I can say is if Japango ever opens a location in Denver, I'll be in trouble...

We had a reservation for 715. We were seated right away and the hostesses were very friendly. Once seated we sat completely ignored for 20 mins. When a waitress finally noticed us...instead of apologizing she said she say is sitting here and wanted to know if we had a reservation!!! Like we just walked in and seated ourselves. Incredibly rude. We obviously decided not to stay after that terrible service. I was excited to eat there so this was a great disappointment.

Had a lovely lunch for 2 at Japango. Great service and ambiance. We enjoyed 4 rolls, miso and edamame. The edamame was a little over salted. We had hot tea snd iced tea. Our bill was $104. The rolls tasted good but the sushi pieces were about half the size of normal. For the price a full portion of fish is expected. I am happy to pay for good food but feel like they need to up their game in fish portion.

Sushi in Colorado isn’t the best But Japango isn’t even in my top five . I came in during a slower time. happy hour, there were four sushi chefs working and only five tables. It was pretty empty. It took an hour for them to bring me my soup. I spent over $100. The portions were super small and the service was not great. I got the lobster Dumplings to start Two of them were super overcooked. It was like slime on my plate. The nigiri delight that I got was cut poorly the four rolls I had were so tiny. If you guys need to adjust the portion size. And if you say it’s due to inflation. raise your prices for a normal size roll. But if you do decide to raise prices adjust the dress code I’ve never paid so much per plate with a hostess in mom jeans.overall atmosphere didn’t feel like a Foco experience

It was our first time at Japango and frankly we were underwhelmed by the rolls. Just average size. Not a lot of flavor. Oh, and then there is the $22 Old Fashioned. There are better choices in FOCO.

We came here with a party of 6. The atmosphere was very nice. However they only gave us 2 menus for our whole table and we were given 2 papers to fill out our orders on but were told we had to combine them on to one. When we explained that we were paying as two separate parties we were told they don’t split the bills, ok. Then when the waitress brought out the rolls she wasn’t sure which rolls were which and the ones for each end of the table were intermingled so there had to be lots of passing back and forth she told us what she thought the rolls were but she was wrong. One of our party asked for a refill on her hot tea and she never got it. After quite a wait she asked for it again and the waitress said oh I have to see if the kitchen has it ready? It’s hot water and a tea bag! The waitress did not check in with us often and took forever to bring us our check. Once we got the check we realized they added a 20% gratuity for a large party. Typically a large party in my experience is parties 10 or more. The women's bathroom was also a bit messy. Overall the sushi quality was good, service was not great, and adding a 20% gratuity for only 6 didn’t seem right and overall it was very pricey. Doubt if we will be going back.

Really wanted to have a good experience here as I had heard so many good things. However, it's average at best with crazy high prices.
Service was really slow for how empty the restaurant was and how many staff they had. We ordered 1 beer and a glass of wine and that easily took 15 minutes to come out. The bartender was busy shaking the same drink forever while chatting with the person sitting at the bar.
Then made the mistake or ordering an old fashion after the first beer. That came out after we had finished eating. Also tasted like it was just rye on the rocks, no classic old fashioned flavor.
The food is tiny and really over priced for what you get. I was really surprised that the miso soup and seaweed salad were not included like just about every sushi place in town. One of our rolls had only 4 pieces when the menu says 6 to 8. Then the food comes out staggered so half the party got food while the other half was waiting. Our server couldn't tell us what rolls were what and they all kind of tasted the same. We had ordered spicy rolls but none of them were spicy at all. The rolls look appetizing, but are very small and very little flavor.
Overall, I just felt very underwhelmed. Poor service, small portions, very overpriced, slow to get drinks and then not good drinks. I guess I had too high of expectations from all the overhyped things I had heard.
It's a great location, so I hope this is just growing pains and they can iron out the wrinkles, but they are going to have to step it up to survive.

Don’t Japan-Go!
Wanted to love this freshly remodeled restaurant, so enticing with its adorable lights and swanky new decor. They did a great job with the remodel!
The menu is fun and lots of great cocktails to choose from.
Our server was so sweet and a really likable person so it pains me to say that the service was terrible! He put in the wrong drink and we waited for 25 minutes w a painfully slow bar only to be given the wrong drink. He very kindly tried talking me into just settling for what he brought but for $18, I want the drink I ordered. And I had to wait another 20 minutes to get the correct drink on top of the first 25 minutes I waited.
Our friends arrived a bit after us and waited 30 minutes for their cocktails which were served after our food arrived. We felt we had to stalk our waiter and grab him by the arm to order more drinks and food. We wanted more food more drinks and sat there frustrated.
Our sushi order was incorrect and then when we grabbed ahold of him to order more, he forgot to put the order in so we sat there another 30 minutes with empty drinks and no food on the table.
They never cleared out empty drinks so we had a lot of glasses on the table and eventually had to ask to please remove things from the table.
The food portions are TINY, almost like cute little miniature food. Hardly any fish in the rolls. The jalepeno on the hibachi was so tiny like nano jalepeno, almost like it had been grown by a third grade class in a paper cup under a lightbulb. I kept thinking of Ben Stiller in Zoolander when he says “what’s this; a center for ants?!”
Overall this was a flop. Half the order was wrong, Everything took forever, and I left hungry after those tiny portions and not getting all of our order.
Lastly I want to say that $18 for a small cocktail that isn’t being brought to me on a beach in Hawaii or at a swanky New York restaurant is ridiculous. I’m not paying Hawaii prices in Fort Collins, I don’t care how pretty your restaurant is. $13 is what a nice cocktail in Fort Collins costs at a restaurant that gets your order right and doesn’t take 3 hours to carry out your meal.
That all being said, the restaurant is new so maybe after some time they can get it together.

We were so excited to learn they opened a Fort Collins location! My husband has celiac so we’re limited on sushi options… They can pretty much make anything gluten-free except fried rolls. Pricey but the quality is so good and worth it. The staff is super friendly too!

Unbelievable. So fresh, so unique, so cozy. Sushi is great. Apps great. Drinks great. Atmosphere great. We’ll be back on a regular basis. Miles better than the sushi in town.

They have a great happy hour where we had a fantastic dining experience! We got the miso soup and house salad, Agedashi Tofu, several hand rolls, the Hearts Delight and New Orleans specialty rolls for about $30 each. For the upscale nature of the restaurant, I felt this was a pretty good price point for a dinner for two that allowed us to sample many things. The happy hour was also available throughout the whole restaurant which I appreciated.

Turn on the A/C, please. Had to walk out because the temperature was a bombing 87 degrees. Sitting in between two other tables with less than 2 feet of separation, zero privacy. Will say the menu looked dynamic and unique for the area and staff were friendly but couldn’t enjoy any it because I’m not going to pay over $100 and sweat while I eat.

WOW. The full package of amazing food, atmosphere, and service!! The sushi was all phenomenal: one of the rolls had a truffle honey that was sooooo good, but not overly sweet. Very balanced. The cocktail options are unique and full of bold flavors. Dean, behind the bar was friendly and an expert mixologist. Sammy was super attentive and on top of every need. Cannot wait to go back, new fav spot!!!!!!

Gosh the staff here was so incredibly friendly and personable!! Loved the environment and the food was so good and so pretty. Will definitely have to make an evening of it in the future for a proper celebration but what a pleasant surprise for a weeknight dinner

The atmosphere, location, and service is good, but the biggest factor, i.e. the food was not impressive. I've been twice and have ordered 2-3 specialty rolls each time and nothing stood out to me. The prices here are pretty high too, which is understandable for being in Old Town, but I'd rather travel a few minutes in town for better sushi at a much more reasonable price.
Visited 9 months ago
Definitely paying for the atmosphere. Service wasn’t what I’d expect for a high end restaurant. I’m from the west coast so I have a pretty particular palette for seafood. I wasn’t very impressed. If I could recommend anything I’d recommend the Agedashi, fantastic!

Manager tried to make it better with a free dessert but I really didnt enjoy this meal nor was it worth the $100 i spent on myself alone. My sushi was rolled so loose, sushi rice was hot, bento box beef was dry and overcooked, and my appetizer was lack luster for being lobster. This place is so over rated with mediocre service. I was one of the only tables and left to wait more than once. I will say the manager is great and trying but i wont be back or suggesting it.

It’s a very new place but I really enjoyed it. You could tell they had just opened but they had a great flow! The food was so good and the atmosphere was super fun.

Some of the best sushi I’ve had in northern Colorado. Landlocked state seafood is always risky, but not here. Tried several rolls and appetizers, each one was unique and flavorful. I didn’t enjoy seeing live jelly fish as decoration. I sat across from the tank and watched them go up and down for over an hour, it was more depressing than impressive. Otherwise, wonderful food and service.

Starting this review I have to give context.
My girlfriend and I came on a Tuesday afternoon when you guys had been open for only 2 weeks and we had an awesome experience. We were so excited to have a restaurant of this quality in town. Our whole experience was great from the service to the atmosphere to the food.
We were so excited we planned a night out for mothers day. But because we work in the service industry (craft cocktail bar manager) I unfortunately had to work on Mother’s Day.
So we made reservations for Tuesday night, last night, for my girlfriends parents, my brother and my mom.
We were greeted at the door and could not wait to share this experience with our family. They took us to our table in the dining room in the glass box.
We sat down and it was so extremely loud we couldn’t hear each other much less think. You packed a small room full when the regular dining room was 80% empty.
It took 10 minutes before anyone came by our table. When our server did, we ordered 2 Sapporo’s, edamame, and water for the table, while we looked at the sake menu.
We waited 20 min to get our 2 beers and water for the table.
When someone finally brought water we ordered 5 bottles of sake and another beer.
Instead of using a tray, the servers hand carried the beverages out, staggering our drinks and served the men first reaching over us instead of serving correctly.
When the sake finally came out our server poured our Nigori sake without shaking it. So
I asked if I could get the cap so I could shake it up. I poured it all back in the bottle and shook it up and served it to the table my self.
Then our server went to serve our carbonated sake and shook it and then opened it, exploding all over my brother, me and the floor. And continued to put it on the table. (The sake covered floor was never wiped up) we were never offered a towel or anything for my dress shirt. We tried the carbonated sake and it was flat and a 1/4 of it gone, we sent it back. We also asked for ice for our cold sake.
We ordered 5 miso soups 1 came out, then 10 minutes after we ordered food another miso came out, and then a third and never received the rest.
Both my girlfriend and I were so embarrassed after hyping up this restaurant to our family all week.
We asked if we could have the check split in 2, my family on one tab and my girlfriends family on another, prior to ordering anything. Our server said “we don’t do that” which is fine, I think you should accommodate but least of our worries, we can figure it out.
So we asked that our food be brought out on separate plates because my mom wanted specific things and my girlfriends dad wanted his specific items.
When the food started to finally arrive they put both orders mixed up onto several different plates. And when we asked what was what, the server said “um I think” and listed off random fish. We ended up just doing family style because we had no idea where anything was, or if we were getting everything we ordered. My brother and I ordered a bunch of sashimi, never received it. My girlfriend’s dads sashimi plate had salmon instead of tuna and our server just apologized.
My brother and I never received our seared scallop rolls, we got one, after ordering 3.
The fish was dry, greying and not cut well at all. My brother used to work in a high-end sushi restaurant and was shocked.
I had to apologize to my mom and brother because it wasn’t like this at all last time.
We were in shock we just decided that we were going to have a good time anyway so we drank and tried to ignore the complete lack of professionalism and service.
We spent $1,000 on dinner that night and didn’t receive everything we ordered. After getting the bill we weren’t going to try and figure out what we didn’t get, it was too stressful. We just wanted to pay and not think about it.
I can’t blame the server, this was lack of training and management. The manager did nothing to help, just seemingly walked around while the server was struggling. Overall a stressful and embarrassing experience.

We went for Mother's day. Family of 5. The ambiance was great, and the sushi was delicious. It took 10 minutes to get a beer and I didn't feel like it was that busy. The service was really slow and the baked cod appetizer was under cooked. The seaweed salad was literally two bites and was 7 dollars. Our bill was over $300 including tip, so it's a pricey spot. The sushi itself was great! Hopefully the service will improve because we have been needing a good sushi spot in Fort Collins!

I've visited many sushi restaurants, both large and small, but this one was by far the least worthwhile. The exorbitant prices did not match the mediocre taste served! While the decor was well-executed, it doesn't compensate for the lackluster food. Shouldn't the primary focus of a restaurant be the flavor of the food? Very disappointed.

One of the best sushi I've had and I'm from LA.
I love the ambiance of the restaurant. The sushi chefs are very skilled! I definitely recommend this spot.

I recently dined at Japango Sushi Restaurant, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. Nestled in the heart of downtown, Japango offers an intimate and inviting atmosphere, perfect for both casual dinners and special occasions.
**Ambiance:**
The restaurant’s decor is modern yet cozy, with soft lighting and tasteful Japanese-inspired elements. The seating is comfortable, and there’s an open sushi bar where you can watch the skilled chefs at work, adding to the overall dining experience.
**Service:**
The service at Japango is also great. Our bartender Ryan was attentive and friendly. He was knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations based on our preferences. The wait time was minimal, even though the restaurant was quite busy.
**Food:**
The star of the show at Japango is undoubtedly the food. The sushi is incredibly fresh and artistically presented. We started with the miso soup and seaweed salad, both of which were delicious and set the stage for what was to come.
The sushi rolls were a highlight – the Gilded Bee and Kitsune’s Kiss were particularly memorable. Each bite was a perfect balance of flavors and textures. The Hamachi Jalapeño sashimi dish was equally impressive, featuring a yellowtail that practically melted in your mouth.
For those who prefer something other than sushi, Japango also offers a variety of other Japanese dishes. The teriyaki chicken was tender and flavorful, and the tempura was light and crispy.
**Value:**
While Japango is on the pricier side, the quality of the food and the dining experience justify the cost. The portion sizes are generous, and you leave feeling satisfied.
**Overall Experience:**
Japango Sushi Restaurant is a must-visit for sushi enthusiasts and anyone looking to enjoy a high-quality Japanese meal. The combination of excellent service, superb food, and pleasant ambiance makes it a standout choice. I highly recommend it and look forward to my next visit.

Way over priced.
Sushi was average.
The fried calamari was GREAT
Change was ten dollars low. The moment I questioned it the server said I owe you ten dollars. We were at the bar, this caused the people next to us to re count their change they were ten dollars low too

Amazing atmosphere and quality fish. The servings were small with very little fish considering the price. I would recommend going during happy hour because the cocktails were very overpriced.

Really fun place — excellent mix of original dishes and elevated classics. Very approachable happy hour menu, especially. Stellar execution of sashimi and nigiri at a reasonable price point. Worth considering reservations as they are not always able to seat walk-ins, sadly.

My friend and I both went in the first opening week for dinner and it was great! While there were some dishes that we wouldn’t get again, they were all still really good overall! Service was a bit slow and disorganized when we first arrived, but I don’t blame them (it was their first week open, after all). The edamame was some of the best I’ve had and the brussel sprouts were surprisingly AMAZING! Sushi here is probably the best in the town.

I had a reservation for 2 and they were accommodating when I arrived early. Our waiter wasn't necessarily bad, he just wasn't all that friendly. Anyone can take orders and deliver food, so when I eat out especially at a nicer restaurant, I expect our server to be friendly. Now this is not to say he was mean, but he was definitely dull and we didn't see him smile once. The food was great. The magic mushrooms is a must try. The drinks, however, came out almost 10-15 minutes after we ordered them and after we received our appetizers. They were delicious and could argue worth the wait. With that being said, all new restaurants have some minor kinks to work though and overall think this is a great addition to Fort Collins. We will be back.

First timers here at the Fort Collins location. First I’ll start off with the service and more specifically, our server, Sami G. She not only had a great attitude and clearly liked working here, ALL her recommendations were spot on. She walked us through the whole menu and made it extremely easy to navigate. Her hospitality was 10/10. Great date night atmosphere and the food was EXCELLENT. Best Sushi in Fort Collins hands down no questions asked. Highly recommended.

Knockin outta the park! The menu is top notch. Staff is killing it! Shoutout to Chris and Teagan at the bar. Met Sean, the GM, briefly and he was such a welcoming guy. Greg, one of the other managers, is such a treat. I’ve visited 6 times now and the bar staff and Greg have been next level hospitable every single time. So glad we have a place like this in Old Town. Get the unagi nigiri.

Sami G was our server and she was absolutely wonderful! It was our first time here and we didn't know what was good so we asked Sami for her recommendation. She was extremely sweet, and very knowledgeable about the menu and recommended us a ton of her favorite dishes and drinks! We chose some of her favorites and a few of our own choices and dinner was incredible. The menu is huge with a large variety of dishes, the staff are all friendly, and the atmosphere is incredible. They have a real jellyfish tank that we were seated close to and it was so much fun to look over there throughout our meal. We'll definitely be returning soon!! They do get really busy so definitely make a reservation.

At Japango, the promise of authentic Japanese sushi and sashimi draws diners in with high expectations, but unfortunately, falls short in delivering a truly satisfying experience. While the ambiance may exude an air of elegance and authenticity, the service fails to match this standard. From slow response times to lackluster attentiveness, the service experience leaves much to be desired, detracting from the overall dining atmosphere.
Furthermore, while Japango boasts a menu of traditional Japanese fare, the execution of the dishes often fails to impress, especially considering the price point. The sushi and sashimi, while decent, lack the quality one would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. For the price paid, diners rightfully anticipate a culinary journey that transcends the ordinary, yet unfortunately, Japango falls short of delivering on this. In conclusion, while Japango may have potential, it currently misses the mark in terms of both service quality and food satisfaction, leaving diners feeling underwhelmed and less then likely to return.

New cuisine in Fort Collins, yes please! This is definitely the best sushi I’ve had in Northern Colorado. For sushi, we had the Himalayan, Kitsune’s Kiss, Hiro-Leili, and Diablo. We also had the spicy edamame and miso soup/garden salad. All of the food was fantastic! It was my partner and I’s anniversary and the staff treated us to champagne and dessert at the end of our meal. Great experience overall! The only complaint I have is that the cocktails were strange. I ordered three different cocktails that all sounded amazing, but tasted weird. I will probably just stick to sake when I visit next.

I was so excited to see they opened one in Fort Collins. I haven’t been happy with the other sushi spots here- the quality of other places is spotty and places are a little dusty. Now that Japango is in Fort Collins I will literally never go anywhere else!!! The fish is great and the restaurant is beautiful and clean. Great tea. Comparable prices with other sushi places in town but the sushi is better which makes it so much more worth it. Love this so much!!!

Had a lovely meal with my husband here Saturday night.
Drenna was our waitress and she was an absolute delight. She was very personable and although busy took time to chat with us about the food to ensure we enjoyed our choices. Thanks for a magical night Drenna!
My husband is half Japanese so we are no stranger to sushi and the quality was fantastic. I would argue to freshest and most abundant menu in Fort Collins and will certainly be our new local favorite.
Everyone was incredibly welcoming and warm which goes a very long way in my book. The cocktails were quick and very tasty. The appetizers were unique and I appreciate they provided several meatless options despite being a sushi restaurant.

Key attributes: beautiful atmosphere, great location, friendly servers, incredible tea, and fast service (even at peak hours on Sunday).
Overall experience rating: 8/10
We started our evening at Japango with the Sakura Cherry Blossom Tea, edamame, and a miso soup. The tea was really the star of the show here. Incredible flavor, and piping hot when it came. The edamame and miso were standard and exactly as expected.
We got 4 rolls and 1 order of Hamachi Nigiri including the Cactus, Himalayan Roll, Kitsune Roll, and the New Orleans roll.
Cactus roll 9/10:
Very small portion for the price; however the texture, taste, and presentation was incredible and unique. Flavor profile was sweet, spicy, and savory. The spice truly enhanced the roll and had a “meaningful” part in the flavor of the dish. Definitely the star of the night.
Himalayan roll 8.5/10:
Nice presentation, a little light on the tuna that comes on top of the roll. The fish was very cold and the overall flavor was decent.
Kitsune 6.5/10
Presentation was lovely, the garnishes were very pretty. There was a major disconnect here with the description on the menu and the actual flavor profile of the roll. Fairly bland, the lemon and garlic definitely did not come through. The asparagus inside added a nice crunch.
New Orleans 8/10:
Bland presentation, uneven bites and masago was unevenly spread over the top of the roll. The avocado was really fresh and the tuna inside was as well. Overall, exactly what you’d expect from a spicy tuna roll. My partner said this is the best spicy tuna roll in town.
Hamachi Nigiri 5/10:
The Hamachi was not as cold as I feel it should’ve been. One of the piece sort of fell apart as I picked it up. I probably would not get this here again.
Overall: The location is perfect and the atmosphere is really enjoyable. The interior design is stunning (I am a huge fan of the jellyfish tank) and there is patio seating. I could see this being a great place for a casual dinner or a fancy one depending on what you want to make it. The chefs appeared to be clean in their process. The server was very kind and friendly, the food service was prompt. The sushi was fresh and the tea was incredible. I will say my that my partner and I both agree that for the steep price of the rolls, we did expect larger portion sizes. My partner and I will definitely be back again!

Brand new foodie spot in FoCo right on the main drag. Even though they just opened it seemed as if they've been operating for months. Seating was quick and easy (sat at the bar). Drinks and food all came through quickly. Bar tender was attentive and helpful. Happy hour wasn't just a limited small menu....they included at ton of regular menu items with $2 off each. Food was delicious and pricing was fair. I feel like Japango just filled a gap in the Fort Collins food scene. Kudos guys. 👊
