Sushi, sake & cocktails offered in a roomy, industrial-style venue with happy-hour specials.
So many people have told us to try this restaurant and boy were they right. All aspects of it were excellent. We asked for the Omakase experience which leaves the choices to the chefs they ask what you don’t want and if there is anything specific you want. Every course was excellent. The fish is so fresh and the small flavor accents they add work perfectly .
To add to the experience, the staff are excellent.
This restaurant is in the middle of the middle you enter. Walk straight ahead and you will run into it.
We highly recommend this place .

We had an excellent time at Temaki. Server was very helpful and had great recommendations for sushi and sake. We just returned from Japan and this sushi was the same or better than our favorite sushi spots there. Plus they had high quality fish from other parts of the world. Final tally was reasonable for the quality and we felt full. Would come back for any special occasion!

Amazing amazing food. Truly the best sushi I’ve had in Denver. Price was amazing considering the quality and the pure amazement of the food. It is a very busy place so keep that in mind but did not detract from the overall experience, just not very intimate if that’s what you’re looking for! The staff was kind and funny, the food was rolled out in perfectly timed increments.

This place was AMAZING! I had been wanting to try it for a long time but didn’t expect sushi so far from the ocean to be this incredible (coming from someone who grew up on an Island and lives in Miami!) we did the chef omakase and were wowed more and more with each bite. They also have great happy hour prices during the week.

YUMMM.
We did omakase as recommended by the chef for the pieces. It was interesting that it wasn’t a set amount of pieces, because you can really rack up the bill! But the server worked with us in asking our favorites and gave us a wondered experience.
Highlights were…
- spinach with black sesame which was a strange delight! I didn’t think I would like it but it’s salty and sweet and absolutely should be ordered!
- hamachi 💯💯💯
- toro belly
- eel, I don’t typically like eel but really liked this because the sauce was light and flavorful
- temaki spicy tuna, FAVORITE with tempura crunch and micro greens!
Next time we plan to do an all temaki omakase because we enjoyed that the rice was still warm when it was served vs the nigiri
Lastly, not a big drinker but we loved the winter blossom sake!

The only word I have to describe Temaki Den is exceptional and that is not really good enough. They have spoiled me for all the other Shush places I have eaten at. You start with a wonderful complimentary bite of Sashimi, ours was Otshi but it can be different different nights. For me it was one of the best bites of the visit. The melt in your mouth fish and layers of flavors it was coated with made it one of the best bites of shush I have ever had. And the quality of the fish and flavor layers continued through the visit.
One of the stand outs among the many was the spicy tuna roll. I have been staying away from spicy tuna rolls because I just did not enjoy them. But I was talked into trying one here and what a difference. First the quality of the fish and layers of flavor were wonderful. Then the roll came as one piece, not cut up?? Turns out the seaweed wrap was very special, very biteable!! You ate the roll like a burrito, very enjoyable.
Finally, we sat at the bar and the shush chef was very informative and helpful with his suggestions. Which really enhanced the experience. But if you want to sit at the bar you do have to reserve it.
This was an unforgettable experience for me and has spoiled me to the point where I won’t be going back to the shush places I have been eating at. Highly highly recommended.

If you’re looking for a Traditional Japanese Sushi restaurant, this is absolutely your spot. My husband and I have been here several times and it has never disappointed us. Tonight, we were able to chat with Kenta, the co-owner, and he is a really awesome dude with so much love/knowledge for traditional Japanese sushi and takes deep pride in his restaurant. (I certainly understand why.)
I just truly cannot recommend this place anymore. It is hands down the best sushi spot in Colorado!!!

Excellent service, great atmosphere. Perfect date night. Food is delicious and priced accordingly. It’s not Matsuhisa level in my opinion, but it’s also half the price. We did the omakase with our server and he chose some wonderful options for us. When we were getting full, we let our server know to bring out just a couple more bangers and that was it. Overall a wonderful experience before our show at the Mission. We are grateful for the entire staff at Temaki Den.

The best sushi in town, hands down. Unfortunately, management is unresponsive to communications/email and forcing customers to pay for parking when happy hour easily exceeds $300 for four people is not what one would expect from a five-star dining experience. Parking validation should be mandatory for a business expecting its customers to afford some of the highest priced sushi in town.
Why not offer complimentary valet? Why not validate parking? Either option is what one would expect from management when faced with so many criticisms about this exact issue. Moreover, it's hard to take a place seriously when the management doesn't respond to simple email requests regarding reservations provided a week in advance of dining. Five stars for food and service, zero stars for management and allowing the Source to nickel and dime its customers and ultimately precluding future visits from some of the restaurant's biggest fans.

5 stars for the restaurant! 3 stars because the parking situation is offensive.
The Sushi Den group of restaurants has the freshest fish and best sushi in Denver and Temaki Den is no exception. Their rolls are so delicious, they have yummy inventive drinks and the service is great.
But guys, the parking situation at The Source is just plain offensive. Three of us met at Temaki Den, spent $75 each on food and drinks, and then each paid another $16 for parking. That’s $48 for parking with no validation offered. Love this place but never doing that again. 🤷♀️

I’ve been coming here for a while now and I’m so pleased to say that this place does not miss. Every experience I have at Temaki Den has been a complete delight. From excellent tasting food down to being greeted as a walk up, I will definitely be back. One of my favorite joys of this place is Adaire, the host. Her energy is infectious and very friendly. I’ve come back here multiple times and I feel she goes above and beyond for me to ensure I have a good experience and honestly, a huge part of why I’m even writing this review is to shout her out. Thank you Adaire. You are a light to this world and I hope you are recognized more because of it. Temaki Den has found a new repeat customer because of you.

My husband and I were very pleased with our experience. It's very difficult to find very good restaurants these days. Food was fresh, flavorful, delicious, lots of variety. Service was prompt, very friendly staff, excellent atmosphere. We are definitely coming back!
If I had to pick one thing I would suggest for them to improve is to space out the time more between appetizers and our main entree. It felt rushed.

First time I went with just my wife and left full with omakase for a great price. The second time going with five others I ended up paying more and didn’t feel super full when leaving. Sushi also came out at a slower pace. Either way quality was amazing both times and drinks were great!

What an absolute treat for a birthday dinner. My husband and I came on a Sunday, when we were able to get a reservation at the bar and decided to do omakase. It was such a pleasure to try fish and bites that were new to me and ones that I wouldn't normally order. The creativity was off the charts and the staff making and serving the sushi was amazing.
Points taken off for our actual server. When we mentioned being interested in omakase, he said he would come back and talk to us about our hunger levels and preferences. He never came back to chat with us and we ended up spending much more money than we expected. Looking back, I wish he came and spoke to us because I would let him know that we would skip out on the "surf & turf" nigiri and probably only do one hand roll. I wish he asked us what our budget and expectations were, since it seemed like he would based on his first comment of the omakase being "a collaborative process" with the chefs and diners.
I would definitely come back here for the happy hour and lunch specials!

They have utilized a shared repurposed iron foundry space incredibly well. They are the central focus in the space and with good reason. We went for a quick happy hour appetizer and drink and the service at the sushi bar was great. You got to see the preparation and they even shared some new rolls they were testing out with those at the bar. Great sake selection and solid recommendations.

Staff was extremely rude but that could be forgiven if the food was any good. It wasn't. I've had much better quality sushi at 7-11 in Japan for 1% of the price. All the handrolls at Temaki Den are glorified convenience store onigiri.

Food was mid and the waiter on our table wasn't bad. The host and some of the other waiters were just very rude for no reason, which ruined the whole lunch despite the food quality. Wouldn't go back.

HOWEVER, PARKING IS A SCAM! DO NOT PARK THERE. Just search for Better Business Bureau for "Parking Revenue Recovery Resources" and read the stories. Personally, <1.5h and I ended up with a $67 bill. On the BBB site, you can see hundreds of people getting billed for sometimes hundreds of dollars by this legal scam.

I’ve eaten at so many wonderful places. I don’t say this lightly when I say… this is absolutely crazy good. They do it RIGHT.
All the hand rolls are brought out as they are ready to ensure the absolute most fresh and crunchy bites.
The service was absolutely incredible. You know like you barely think your drink is low and then it’s being filled. You may want to order another roll then boom there they are asking if you’re ready. Every single thing on the menu was so good. We ordered one of almost everything also.
Shout out to Rudy who guided us perfectly through our first time there.
If I had to pick I really enjoyed the salmon oshizushi and the blue crab tamaki. So damn good. Also literally everything like the Japanese a5 nigiri… are you kidding me… wow.
Honestly I want anyone who was on the edge of deciding on this place but did for this review just to like it because I earned it ok. I let you know what you’ve been missing out on. You’re gonna tell your friends I know you will.

Incredible dining experience. Spinach Goma-Ae is a great starter. The chicken kara age could have had crispier breading. The lobster temaki is better than the blue crab temaki. Some Aburi (seared) favorites included salmon oshizushi, creme fraíche salmon belly, saba oshizushi, ootoro, and aged ootoro. Unagi paired well with the eggplant. The local wagyu was good. Finish off with matcha affogato.

Got the Omakase and it was a great way to taste new rolls that I would normally not order off the menu. Only had one thing served that I did not care for, but they do ask for preferences at the start and I could have been more specific, but didn’t want to limit the experience of my friends, since everyone gets the same. It’s priced a la carte though, so don’t expect all you can eat sushi prices if you have a big appetite.

Amazing tuna (Toro) from Spain! They have Manzanilla Wine which pairs perfectly with any kind of sushi because of the Umami that this very dry wine has.

This is as fresh of a fish as you will get in Denver in my opinion. Uchi is a good spot as well but Temaki Den is my favorite. I’ve been here over 10 times in the past couple of years. That’s a lot in my point of view since I love exploring new restaurants.
🍣 MY FAVORITE BITES:
Hamachi sashimi
Salmon temaki
Negitoro (fatty tuna) temaki
Ootoro smoky aburi nigiri sushi
Salmon belly aburi nigiri sushi
Salmon Oshizushi specialty nigiri sushi
Creme Fraiche Salmon Belly specialty nigiri sushi

Service can be slow as it’s a popular spot.
Make a reservation ahead of time if you want a better and faster experience or you might be waiting for over an hour for bar sitting (sometimes even turned away if it’s later in the evening).
———
Paid parking lot that belongs to The Source hotel (great hotel if you’re just visiting CO). It’s a small parking lot, you do get the first 30 minutes for free. Parking garage is worth more if you’re dining in and needs more than 30 minutes. Free street parking is also available if you don’t mind walking.
——-
The ambience is great, lighting is not bright and the music is not loud so you can hear people clear when talking.

Price around $171 for 3 women and we were very satisfied

My friends and I ordered the Omakase, which is a chefs experience where they ask you for allergies and any food aversions you may have, then cater a personalized meal to you, bite by bite with thoughtful explanations of each item served. I can not recommend this experience enough. They food was truly wonderful, and despite it being pricy in the end, completely worth it. I can't wait until the next time I'm in Denver to do it all over again. Evan was our server and he took great care of us.

Maybe it’s just a few bad visits lately but this place used to be so much better before they expanded their space. Since then the quality of food and service has really gone down. We used to come here all the time and sit at the bar. Service used to be great but we’ve felt pretty neglected for most of our meal the last couple times. Most recently we listened to our waiter weirdly hit on the girls next to us for 20-30min (they commented on how uncomfortable it was once he walked away) while we tried to get his attention to order more food and drinks. Other people in his section also looked like they were trying to get his attention. The sushi used to be fresh, the hand rolls were great, and the aburi style nigiri was amazing but the last few times has lacked attention to detail- a few hand rolls became way too overpowered by cream sauces, aburi was only barely torched, cuts of fish were significantly smaller than usual, etc. Overall we’ve been convinced to search for a new sushi spot.

Highly recommend for top notch creative sushi. First time so we agreed to omakase and our server Connor did a great job although the pace was a little slow for a slow Wednesday night. If you don’t try the Salmon Oshizushi and the Bleu Cheese Bluefin you blew it — we doubled down on these. Besides these the blue crab Temaki and the salmon belly were standouts. I do recommend the counter spots for the first time to watch the magic in action.

I have been to this spot before and I brought my best friend with me who has never been and I was super excited after raving to her how delicious it was! This is one of the few restaurants I can eat at due to multiple severe allergies I suffer from so I was so excited to have a cute girls night with my best friend. The food was great at first but we quickly lost our appetite! We both ordered hand rolls and we were chatting as friends do and the server came up and asked how everything was and I said fine I was just waiting for the rest of my hand rolls and I was working on eating the other ones but I was getting kind of full. She basically reprimanded / scolded me saying “the hand rolls are meant to be eating immediately because the seaweed gets moist and that other servers would most likely have something to say to me about it as well if I didn’t eat them soon” that really made it extremely awkward and uncomfortable not to mention the glances she was sharing with the other server. We were both really put off and I asked if I could just get a to go box because we just wanted to leave . When the male server brought some back they exchanged another smirk at one another and rolled their eyes!!!! That was the last straw that was so off putting, uncomfortable and unprofessional so much so that we probably won’t be returning or recommending due to the abrupt poor service! Very sad . We were having a great time up until that point because it made us feel like we were doing something wrong and like we were in trouble and about to get grounded 😂

Best sushi in Denver, by a landslide. The Miso soup is authentic and the way you want it, not too hot not too cold. Cucumber roll is hydrating and delicious. Their cocktails are always great. The ambiance is very family style with the way that is open and community based - a wouldn't say it's a hidden gem but I'm always surprised at how many people I meet that have never been. Happy hour deals are amazing. Any of the wagyu and steak options are a must try at least once. My personal favorite is the Negitoro Tuna Temaki. If you're in Denver do not miss out on this place I'm from Oregon and this is some of the best sushi I've had which was surprising given the fact we are in Colorado.
Been going for two years now and will continue to be a regular.

The hamachi sashimi was some of the best I've ever had! Really enjoyed the rolls (hamachi, red shrimp, fatty tuna, kurodai). We had cocktail seating and the bartender (whose name I'm forgetting but who said his DJ name would be DJ Hey Mustache) was super attentive and entertained our silly question.
They pace out the courses for you, but we realized that they didn't bring out one of my friends ordered in the first round of ordering and the food runner brushed us off saying that it'll be coming out without even offering to fake check. Once all of our courses except that one came out we mentioned it to bartender DJ Hey Mustache and he swiftly took care of it; my friend had her roll within 5 mins.

Best sushi I’ve had (inside and outside of Japan) 🍣

This was our first dining experience at Temaki Den, and Rudy was the best server. We both did the omakase dinner and had the greatest dining journey. Loved every moment. We sat at the sushi bar and there was a story with every piece and great entertainment.

Fun atmosphere and insanely good sushi. The salmon oshizushi was the best piece of sushi I’ve ever had

Perfection!

After ripping my server 15% (he forgot about 2 main dish orders and 2 drink orders) he confronted me in front of our entire party, essentially demanding a larger gratuity.

I could not have had a better experience here! My husband and I decided to end our honeymoon with the omokase and it was the best choice. Our server, Evan, made sure we had a lovely experience without our taste and our budget. I'd come back again and again.

If you are looking for a top quality sushi spot in Denver look no further then here. With their very fairly priced & delicious hand rolls, expertly crafted sushimi and extras I could spend all day at their counter and be content. They have great happy hour specials as well. Highly recommend it!

I am a sushi fan but until I went to this place I didn’t really know or understand what sushi really was!! This is by far some of the best sushi you will ever have the pleasure of putting on your tastebuds!! I’d give it 100 stars if I could!
I highly recommend the OMAKASE!!! Trust me DO IT!!

I’ve been here probably 30 times. It’s my favorite restaurant in Denver and I rave about it. I went recently and noticed it took too long in between my bites to get my next food item. Like 10-15 minutes.
I had some friends in town who went two days ago and they said the same thing, it was too slow.
I thought it was a fluke the first time but wanted to provide this feedback.

I had an incredible omakase lunch at Temaki Den last weekend. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal. The service was top-notch, with knowledgeable and attentive staff who made the experience special. Each course was a delight, featuring the freshest ingredients and exquisite flavors. The sashimi was melt-in-your-mouth perfection, and the nigiri and hand rolls were both creative and delicious. Loved the blue crab and didn't mind the sea urchin too! Overall, it was a memorable culinary journey that I highly recommend to any sushi lover. Can't wait to return!

Solid omakase that gives true sushi vibes and hits the spot perfectly when you’re craving good sushi. Love that they don’t overfeed you, and the sake flights were lovely. The desserts are extra worth it - I’m so happy we got two! Our waitress was excellent giving us fun facts about the flights and different bites as well.

Food is always spectacular. Every bite is made to perfection and has incredible bursts of flavor. We are huge fans of their drink menu and love the flights of sake. The first handful of times we went, we ordered omakase and really got to know a wide range of their wonderful offerings. The nightly specials are always spot-on and keep our rotation of favorites exciting! We try to request specific servers in our reservation notes and try to go during "slower" times, either closer to opening/closing, to fully enjoy the experience.

Great and casual sushi experience. High quality food for the price.
Parking is free for an hour in the parking lot in the back. Over 1 hour is $8.
They also use reusable chopsticks; not the kind you break in half to use. Very sustainable option.

No atmosphere. It's in a warehouse hallway.
Server took care of bringing a selection and catered specifically to the celiac member of our group.
Seared pieces and hand rolls were the hit pieces.

Went here for dinner for my partner's birthday. He wanted to try a different sushi place in the Denver area, and this place is rated well (so I hadn't looked at the menu prior to arriving at the restaurant). I really wanted to like it, but there were just a few too many things that just rubbed me the wrong way.
Upon entering I thought the atmosphere was weird. Like many of the other lower-rated reviews on here, it kind felt like a cafeteria without much privacy or intimacy. The rave-like music it was playing was also a little weird. Luckily the sound dampening and music actually made it pretty easy to talk to and hear my partner during dinner - I've been in places where there wasn't the case.
The relatively limited menu immediately gave me an immediate impression that the food was going to be very interesting and different, but it all was pretty par for the course for a mid-to-high quality sushi place. I had a few hand rolls (all of which has less filling that I would have expected), some sashimi, and a few warm dishes; my partner had similar. We did not get any drinks. We both had a roll (my being the spicy tuna) where the fish was completely overpowered by the wasabi (I asked for no wasabi on my next roll).
Like others have mentioned, it took quite a while for a our food to come out, and it really wasn't that busy. My partner and I have taken sushi classes and have made it ourselves (and I've been to a Japan and warched a sushi chief prepare sushi in front of me) - so we thought the wait times were a bit too long (I wouldn't be surprised if it was artificially slow to encourage ordering more food and drinks).
Our server was very nice and kept us up to date on our orders and kept our waters filled. The final cost was almost $100, which wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but just felt a little bit expensive for the experience and amount of food we received. I don't regret coming here - the food was good and I appreciated the experience - but I don't see myself coming back when there are better, and cheaper, alternatives all over the Denver area.

This is more of an FYI for people wanting to show up without reservations to have dinner at the bar. We have done this for years. They are disengenois about having open bar seating. For some reason we still had to check in with front staff and were put on an hour wait for the bar even with open seats available. Staff tried to justify that it was open bar seating but in reality its no different than needing an actual reservation. The food and service here are incredible, but don’t be fooled that there are reservations needed even for the areas that they market as being open seating. Welcome to the big city Denver!

Best food I've had in Colorado. Great atmosphere and music, but our waitress, Christy, was the best part. She was super friendly and knowledgeable about the food and culture behind the place. Definitely going back because of the incredible service.

Love this place, and I don’t love many places when it comes to raw food. Sushi is amazing - interesting rotating selections and very creative preparations. The temaki is outstanding. If you don’t like raw, try the crab, the shrimp, and the eggplant. The spicy hamachi is incredible. The standard fish also great. You won’t be disappointed, but the bites add up quickly in terms of cost. That said, top three places on the front range that I recommend for raw seafood and will be coming back again and again.

I don’t want Denver sushi unless it’s from Temaki :)

There was a slight mix up of our reservation but the manager was able to kindly accommodate us and make sure we were happy and sat as soon as possible. The spicy edamame, temaki rolls and sashimi were amazing and the service was great. Will definitely visit again!

wow wow wow. i had been waiting for this moment for weeks. so glad i finally got over to temaki den. everything about this place is unique. location, venue, & food. a la carte style. slower in the sense of how fast food comes out but it’s because they are producing TOP quality ingredients for you. 38+ year perfected rice recipe. be patient. the albacore tuna. hands down best part of the menu. anything with tuna, order it. the quality of the fish is just pure bliss. hand picked from japan. refreshing piece of salmon, actual garlic not the minced jarred for the edamame. service was 5/5. request for Mark or Tony if you can. everyone explained everything. asked about allergies. understood the assignment. the hand rolls or temaki are a nice touch in between waiting for rolls for nigiri. they are meant to be eaten right away for best quality. the spicy tuna temaki is 🔥bill came to $185. that’s with wagyu beef included and being a la carte / omikase style. shocked it wasn’t more. MUST TRY!
