People who order sushi here and rate it low don't know how to appreciate great food. What Grant is doing behind the sushi bar is nothing short of extraordinary. Colorado is sleeping on Foraged.

And for the love of whatever god you believe in, can you people please order something other than California and Dragon rolls.

Exceptional Sushi Experience in Denver

I recently had the pleasure of dining at a fantastic sushi restaurant in Denver and opted to sit at the sushi bar, which I highly recommend. Sushi Chef Grant served us, and his expertise truly enhanced the experience. He explained that much of the fish is sourced directly from Japan, which is evident in the freshness and quality of each bite.

The sushi was top-notch, with beautifully balanced flavors and meticulous presentation. Despite the premium quality, the prices were reasonable—not overly expensive like a Nobu, but still delivering an elevated dining experience.

If you’re a sushi lover looking for exceptional quality and a knowledgeable chef, this spot is a must-visit!

Woah. This is the place.

If you're looking for a fresh take on omakase sushi, look no further. Chef Grant and his team of culinary artists present exceptionally inspired dishes; a true sushi enthusiast's adventure. Foraged's staff and food reeks of passion, and their pride in providing the best dining experience is worth the money. Truly had a lovely experience.

Only real fish here, IYKYK. Try the Uni, it's a doozie. Definitely coming back.

Update 23 Nov 2024:

I love sushi and this was not the place for it. Food and service quality was poor. You’re paying up to $15-20 dollars per roll, for some small poorly wrapped rolls. Overall, it’s a wannabe boozey place. Tokyo Joe’s is better sadly.

Foraged offers a unique dining experience focused on fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The dishes are beautifully plated, and you can tell there’s a lot of thought behind every flavor combination. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always happy to explain the seasonal menu. The mushroom risotto was a standout, perfectly creamy with a rich, earthy flavor. The ambiance is cozy and intimate, making it a great spot for a relaxed evening out. If you're looking for a farm-to-table experience with a creative twist, Foraged is a must-visit!

I visited Foraged for my partner’s birthday dinner and opted for the omakase experience, which I had arranged in advance. Upon arrival, we were escorted upstairs to the sushi bar, where we were warmly welcomed by the sushi chefs who would be guiding us through the evening. The entire experience was a true farm-to-table delight, with herbs like sage and honey harvested directly from the owner’s farm and an incredible orange-infused ponzu that complemented the freshest fish selections perfectly.

The chefs enhanced the evening with their personalized approach, explaining each dish in detail, thoughtfully pacing the courses, and adding their own lighthearted banter to make the meal even more enjoyable. The cocktail program was equally impressive, featuring seasonal herbs and fruits from local sources. To cap off the night, we indulged in an incredible crème brûlée paired with a berry compote—truly the perfect finish.

Foraged exceeded my expectations, and I’ll definitely be returning. Highly recommend it for any special occasion!

Nice place, seemingly good reviews had me interested to try it, appetizers- Calamari was great along with the sauces, Edamame was burnt. Their special sushi roll was a disappointment, the rice was very mushy and smelled stale, so I did not want to try any more sushi. Service provided was prompt and friendly, first time I noticed a 2% private security (mafia) fee 😀

Came here on Friday night and it’s not busy like i thought . The restaurant give you the sport bar vibe instead of Sushi place . The sushi rice was falling apart from the fish and little dry , oysters are not good , not expecting fresh but it’s far down from average . Service was good.

We dined on a Tuesday night for happy hour, and the restaurant was relatively slow. However, service was excellent and our food came out quickly. The happy hour sushi rolls were excellent, though many of the specialty roll options included cream cheese, which I'm not much a fan of in sushi. The fresh oyster selection was great.

Don’t waste your time - incredibly slow service and long waits for fishy tasting seafood.

Took about 5 minutes for a host to approach me for seating, 30 minutes for a beverage to arrive (everyone else at the table already received their drinks) and all entrees arrived at different times.

Both sushi rolls were poorly constructed and had a fishy taste to them. Nobody at the table was particularly pleased by their dishes, with the octopus closely resembling chewing gum in texture.

Despite the poor service, parties of 6 or more had a 22% (not 20%) gratuity added onto the bills automatically. Service claimed they were slammed, despite only about 10 tables occupied at the restaurant.

Really disappointing - you’d probably have a better experience buying sushi at King Soopers and finding a free table along Blake Street.

Sushi Experience №25

The menu at Foraged caught my eye because I wanted some sushi but maybe a little non-traditional and some non-sushi items too. The chef here definitely has a sophisticated technique and interesting flavor ideas. For example, the scallop entree with the beurre blanc was very well executed and had a touch of some kind of relish on top to balance with acidity. But there was also a random blueberry compote, which was tasty but seemed a little unnecessary. The soft shell crab bao was excellent and the sauce was perfect - not overly mayo heavy like some places.

The fish in the sushi was great quality and tasted fresh. There were some interesting added flavors. Unfortunately, the rolls and nigiri rice were very poorly formed and fell apart easily. It didn't match with the quality of the other dishes.

There were a couple other minor things that just seemed a little odd, such as serving prosecco in a martini glass.

Overall I would definitely come here again.

Surprised how empty this place was on a Saturday night. Lucky for us, that meant quick service. Started with a pork gyoza which had a nice crisp. Split the Chuck Norris roll which was a new roll for me. The pineapple was similar to what mango brings and the tuna tasted fresh. One of the few rolls I’ve had that was fried but always a welcomed addition. Pretty big pieces and a nice sweet and spicy sauce combo. For my main I went with the kimchi fried rice which to my liking wasn’t overly heavy in kimchi. Chili paste brought in some spice, and an overall good balance of ingredients. Fairly good portion of pork belly too. The other entree I was between was the yaki udon. I was able to try some of my friends and I wish I went with that. The noodles were nice and the dish was a little more flavorful than the fried rice. Outside of the food, I enjoyed a sapporo and had a great time with my friends.

We went here on a Saturday night (5/4) for a date night. It also happened to be derby day! As such, the atmosphere was great! There was lots of energy coming up from people downstairs. We were upstairs able to watch everyone in their costumes and big hats. The lighting fixture in the middle of the room was amazing!

We were seated promptly and our server was quick to take drink and apps orders. We got the tiramisu martini (good!) and horchata-sake-boba (very strong) for drinks and ordered the chuck Norris roll (very tasty, and BIG) and veggie gyoza (tasty, but a little basic) for apps.

Throughout this, our server was smiling and took great care of us. He checked in regularly and asked good questions.

For mains, we ordered the tonkatsu ramen (good, but not what we expected) the yaki udon (good) and an order of the steak bao buns. I want to call out the bao. The steak inside was tasty, but chewy. It wasn't what either of us wanted from a bao.

Overall, we had a great night, but unfortunately a lot of the food just missed the mark. We probably won't go back. It was far too expensive for what we got.

The tempura veggies were like an elevated blooming onion in the best way possible, I’d definitely recommend.

Came here for my birthday and had nonexistent service. Took us 2.5 hours in a relatively empty restaurant to get barely 1.5 courses out. Totally ruined my birthday. Food came out completely all over the place, while it was tasty, it was a really miserable experience.

Unbelievably expensive to get worse service than a minimum wage chic-fil-a employee. Feels like a scam when you see the bull.

Will NEVER return.

Went here last night for a birthday dinner - was almost completely empty but don't let that fool you! Overall experience was great. The vibe and music was on point and made for a great atmosphere. Mondays they have half price bottles of wine which was a steal (and good wine!). Our serve was super attentive, always replenishing our water and timing our food perfectly. We both had the pork belly ramen, which was fantastic for a non-ramen-focused place. We also had the crispy rice & spicy tuna app which was delicious and the tuna tataki roll which was fab as well. My only complaint is the creme brulee was soupy and not done right so that was disappointing as it was my partner's birthday dessert but they were kind enough to take it off the bill so that was nice. Otherwise I highly recommend!

I have been taste-testing yellowtail nigiri at every sushi restaurant I've been to in Japan, Hawaii and Denver since 2016, and this is the best I've ever had. I'd like to know their source and get a hookup. I'd also like to know what nigiri sauce they used; it was delectable.

They seemed to keep forgetting food as well.

NOT a Japanese restaurant. Or, even a real sushi restaurant.

It could be OK if you go there thinking it as an American fusion restaurant. But, you will be deeply disappointed if you go there wanting some Japanese foods or sushi.

1. Tonkotsu ramen is not a tonkotsu ramen. If people see this without knowing it's tonkotsu, they wouldn't know it is (too much "fusion" with so many ingredients that wouldn't go in to tonkotsu ramen). The majority of ingredients are factory made. I can even guess where they get kimchi and where they get their broth. Factory made kimchi, pickled onion, broth, and noodles. Pork was too chopped up, so I couldn't tell, but potentially factory made. Only "cooking" was "charring" the celery, which I know wasn't much of charring or cooking.

2. Their "tempura" is not "tempura". I think they just assumed anything fried is tempura. Their tempura veggies are unrecognizable as "tempura". No Japanese person would think it as tempura by looking at it.

3. They call themselves as sushi restaurant, but serve sushi with some kind of "Big Mac sauce". How can they be a serious sushi restaurant that also serve omakase and serve sushi with that kind of sweet mayo dipping sauce? I wouldn't expect much from sushi here.

4. They need real chopsticks. I understand that it's an American restaurant, but it's like going to a steakhouse and eating a steak with plastic silverware. It feels like eating convenience store food with cheap disposable chopsticks.

So the food is very good, but not amazing. The nigiri was solid but we got a deep fried roll that was falling apart and impossible to eat with chopsticks. You can get the same quality sushi in Denver for equal or less price with way better service.

My wife and I went here for her birthday and for the price, expected something top notch. We didn't get that. I want to be clear that the sushi was good (not amazing). Our server was nice, but we literally went 20+ minutes between our server even checking in on us, even though there were empty plates and glasses that say there for 10+ minutes.

We were seated right by the POS station so we could see (not an exaggeration) 7 servers hanging out chatting for 10 or more minutes at a time while no tables got service. I don't think I'm high maintenance, but that's a little unprofessional.

Note for the owners: everyone was being seated upstairs while the downstairs street level dining was empty. If people are walking by and looking in and see a completely empty dining room, that's not going to make people want to stop in!

Good not great food, nice servers, but if you want a meal in less than 3 hours, pass. If you want value for your money, pass.

Bad food and bad service. Ordered the sweetheart roll which was weirdly sweet and cold, very bland. Then ordered the crispy rice that was extremely hard. We let the bartender know we didn’t like our roll and he said “sorry about that.” Several grumpy employees behind the bar complaining about people walking in at 10 when they close at 10:30 yet no one checked on us in at least 15 mins, we were ready to go. The vibes were just bad, haven’t had such a poor dining experience in a while. Huge disappointment.

Terrible sushi, it's just the worst I've ever had. The rolls constantly fell apart for every single one. And the seaweed salad had a bunch of cucumbers at the bottom to make it seem fuller than what it actually is. I went for happy hour and got 4 rolls with the seaweed salad and pork gyoza and spent $55. That's a good deal, but for the sushi to be as low quality as it was makes it a horrible deal. The best part of the meal was seeing the inside of the restaurant and the expensive chandelier. And I almost forgot that they bought out 2 of our rolls, but not the other 2, so we ate seperate and not together since it took an additional 20 minutes to get the other 2 rolls. Just do yourself a favor and go somewhere else, it isn't worth the long wait times in-between service at all.

You can dine under a 370,000 handwoven crystal chandelier at this restaurant...

FOR[a]GED is a dynamic, two-level Japanese restaurant & raw bar located in Dairy Block in downtown Denver. We arrived and were seated in the main dining room. The aesthetic was sexy with the alluring sparkle of the chandelier & burgundy seating. The restaurant’s focal point resides in its astronomical goddess of a chandelier - it’s gorgeous.

Owner, Meghan Gold & server, Kaitlin were both wonderful; each made sure we had everything we needed while we dined. Meghan was a firecracker with evident passion for the restaurant & her team (she was so fun).

We started our night off strong with a round of cocktails. The Lycheetini was made with Wheatley vodka, lychee, seasonal fruit, lime, and simple syrup. The Lycheetini was my favorite cocktail of the night - it was refreshing and tropical with light floral notes.

The Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martini was made with pumpkin spice slurry, Mr. Black Coffee liqueur, Wheatley vodka, and cold brew coffee. This martini was awesome - imagine all the delicious flavors of fall in a cocktail, and this was that. It had a rich, creamy texture and a hint of spice.

The White Lotus was made with Hendricks gin, sake, pickled ginger, lime, and simple syrup. This was a fun drink with a sweet nose and a hint of citrus.

The FOR[a]GED Old Fashioned was made with coffee infused Buffalo Trace, vanilla bean simple syrup, and black walnut bitters. This coffee-infused old fashioned added a jolt to the classic drink.

FOR[a]GED also has a great selection of beers and sake.

The Crispy Rice was made with spicy tuna, jalapeño, sweet soy, yuzu kosho aioli, and micro cilantro. This was a solid starter; the rice squares went well with the dollops of spicy ahi tuna.

The Yellowtail Sashimi was made with pickled jalapeño, micro cilantro, and mushroom ponzu. This was an extremely flavorful, yet light dish.

The Gyoza was made with pork, spicy balsamic tamari, and spicy mayo.

There were several options of Bao Buns, and we had the Pork Belly & Soft-Shell Crab. The Pork Belly buns were served with a pineapple hoisin glaze and citrus salsa. The Soft-Shell Crab were served with a citrus aioli.

We had several Signature Rolls and the presentation on each were great. The Tony Stark Roll was made with spicy tuna, jalapeño, cucumber, cream cheese, dragon crab mix, Thai-chili sauce, spicy mayo, pickled jalapeño slice, and tobiko. The pickled jalapeño slice that topped the roll had the perfect balance between spicy and sour and paired well with the rounded, salty sweetness of the tobiko.

The Zilla Roll was made with shrimp tempura, avocado, cucumber, seared spicy salmon, sweet soy, spicy mayo, and chives.

The Bruce Lee Roll was made with shrimp tempura, crab mix, cream cheese, minced garlic, Fresno sauce, unagi sauce, tempura crunch, scallions, and tempura fried. This roll was hearty and very savory.

The FOR[a]GED Roll was made with crab mix, avocado, cucumber, escolar, blue fin tuna, sake-soy butter, garlic chips, and Thai chili-ginger sauce. The FOR[A]GED roll was creamy from the crab & avocado and the blue fin tuna that topped the roll was smooth and fresh. The Thai chili-ginger sauce added a nice little kick in spice.

The Fried Rice was made with shrimp, green onions, and egg.

The Tonkotsu Ramen was made with braised pork belly, charred Bok choy, kimchi, tamari soft egg, fried mushroom, and pickled onion. The ramen was characterized by a creamy soul-warming broth and all the umami & savory goodness of everything in it, from the chewy noodles to the tender pork belly.

For dessert we had the Cheesecake & Lemon Creme Brulee.

Good ambience, music wasn't too loud. Food orders took an exceptionally long time. Our biggest pain point was that we were seated by a side door which two separate incoming staff used to come to work. My opinion? Remove this table so your customers are not blasted with cold, snowy air. Or, ask your staff not to use this door.
HUGE praise to the wait staff for going next door to buy coffee because they were out in-house.
A worthwhile mention, we like this restaurant, this isn't our first visit and won't be our last.

I am not one to normally write reviews but I felt like I had to about my experience last night (10/25/23). We gave ourselves an hour and a half to eat and get a few drinks here before we headed over to Marquis theatre for a show. Right when we walked in we ordered drinks then waited 20 minutes for our server to come back for food.

Once he finally came back, we ordered food frantically, realizing this restaurant is chaotic right now. Jump forward, drinks empty, no one coming back to our table for 30 minutes, and no food. We waited and waited about 45 minutes and still no food. I just asked for the check so I could leave and make my show. Unfortunately, my sushi never came , and I was forced to leave since I was now late for my show. I was very excited to go here, and was very disappointed.

As I was leaving, clearly upset and hungry, the bartender said that he was sorry and he didn't know if we heard him but he "Screamed at the kitchen" (Not something you tell your guests) then he informed me he would "Refund me." I never received a refund, but I doubt I'll ever go back.

The food is completely inedible, the miso soup tasted and looked like beef stock with dust particulars in it, the "sushi rolls" were not sushi at all. Do Not Go Here If You Want Real Sushi! Even the wasabi was watered down...We decided to leave after one bite of the "sushi rolls"...

We went for Happy Hour. It's half off, the roll selection was okay. Seemed like there was an upcharge for the area. A bit stuffy and smaller selection even outside of happy hour. The edemame was good.

Bartender tonight I think it was TJ was great! We came in at last call and wow did he take care of us. With all that cleaning he had to do it’s hard to believe he even had time for us . I hope I get you again Tj you were just awesome! Really made a great impression. We were those two with the cake. What an amazing bartender.

I thought you might appreciate knowing how your hostess tonight treated several guests (us). We walked inside and had to wait a while to be seated, which was fine since it seemed like y'all were short staffed tonight, but we were then shown to our table and waited...15? 20? minutes and no one had come by to check in with us, bring us water or take our drink order, so we asked the hostess for water and got a snarky "yeah, fine." So that was weird. Then we waited another 5-10 minutes, received no water, and as we were walking out I let the hostess know that we were going to look for another restaurant and her response was a * very * rude, "FINE." Such a weird experience! Very unsatisfied. I would definitely not recommend eating here, which is too bad, because it smelled really good inside!

Would have liked to give a better review but the place stated it closed at 10pm when I arrived at 9pm the doors were locked... and they were definitely closed. I'm from out of town and where I'm from even if we're closing "early" it's not not an hour early maybe they do things differently in CO will never come back.

My recent dining experience at this upscale sushi haven in Denver was nothing short of remarkable. The ambience is modern and sophisticated with the most impeccable art installation suspended from the ceiling to transcend your experience.

I attended with a large group, all of who were wearing multicolored wigs for a birthday event. We were warmly welcomed at our table by the most attentive server, Sam. He anticipated all of our needs and made sure we were able to enjoy our meals, which were phenomenal.

Sam made me feel not like a customer at all, but like a queen. To top it all off, he offered to photograph our group and the amazing memories we made that night. And boy, did he know all the right angles.

If you have the opportunity to dine at this establishment and are fortunate enough to be served by Sam, consider yourself in for a treat. Thank you Sam, for making our night unforgettable!

Food wasn’t the best but ok. Service was awful. We made a reservation for 5:45pm & 5 minutes after they sat us, the host came over and told us that at 7:30pm there was another reservation that required our table. At this point, the restaurant was completely empty besides 3 other tables, so we were a little upset being told this. We felt so rushed the entire time we were there. Our waiter also just ignored us & we watched a table that got sat after us get greeted & served before our waiter even came over or we even got water. Didn’t check on us & food wasn’t even that good for the price & disappointing atmosphere/service. Wouldn’t recommend unless you’re not paying
