At Bamboo Sushi, we make every decision with the highest regard for this world and the people in it. From transparency in how we source our food, to reducing our carbon footprint, to enriching the communities that we live in. The Portland born Japanese eatery goes beyond sushi, extending to shareable plates, rolls, nigiri and a delicious wagyu burger, with cocktails and sake to boot.
Good sushi isn’t hard to find in Denver, but GREAT sushi can be. This place fits at the top of the list with their amazing selection of rolls. All the rolls we had tasted fresh and were dressed up to pull out nuanced flavors. We ended the meal with fresh Uni, which is the best I’ve had. Harder to find than great sushi is truly fresh Uni tasting of the salty ocean.

Went last night 3 of us for dinner. They have happy hour throughout restaurant and it is from 4-6. I decided not to drink but others had beer. We each ordered a happy hour appetizer and then we ordered the chef special dinner for 2-4 people for $115. It was all very good and my favorites were the poke, ceviche and lots of the big meal. They have a patio outback but it was raining so we are indoors. Our server was professional and very energetic. She gave us great service. I would eat here again and really enjoyed our dinner!

Let me preface this review by saying I don’t eat seafood. Don’t get me wrong I love sushi… but I only eat vegetarian sushi so if that makes me lose all credibility in your eyes you can stop reading now.
Still with me? Okay good! Now let me start by saying for my vegetarians out there, they have one of the largest selections of vegetarian menu options I have seen at a sushi restaurant. Seriously they get a 10/10 for that! My sister and I tried this place on a whim and were so pleasantly surprised. You can see everything we order pictured below.
We arrived around 6pm on a Tuesday and were sat and greeted immediately by our lovely server and because we were in a bit of a hurry we ordered right away. The food was brought out as it was ready— which we loved! and timed perfectly. Loved the vibe of this location as well.
Now for the food. Get the spicy edamame. It was some of the absolute best I’ve ever had! You can’t tell by the picture but there was chili oil in the bottom of the bowl and once you mixed it all together it became perfection. The avocado nigiri was exquisite as well. Okay and don’t even get me started on the tempura cauliflower… like WOW. Incredible. Amazing. Give me 14 of em right now.
…..now onto the things we didn’t ~love~ the smashed avocado crispy rice was good! A little cold and chewy and kind of reminded me of avocado toast but not a total bust, just probably not the dish for me, no big deal!
BUT the real villain of the evening was the green machine roll. Don’t be fooled by the enticing description on the menu. It was foul. And I mean look at it, it looks as if my cat threw up on it. Absolutely no hate to the people who like this roll but it made us gag. It was so putrid I’m having a hard time putting it into words. I think the roll without the sauce would have actually been perfect but the sauce on top was oddly sweet and earthy but not the good kind of earthy, the kind of earthy where your dog just took a steamy hot pile of caca and then it rained. That kind of earthy.
Other than that one tiny thing… everything else was incredible!! 5 stars!! Totally go here! Just steer clear of the green machine roll. I wouldn’t even give it to my worst enemy

Food, service, atmosphere, and all the above was amazing. Amazing sushi and cocktails. Great happy hour deals. The staff was amazing, food came out quick, and they were very personable. I have been all over the US trying sushi and this is hands down THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD!! Especially for the price. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Atmosphere is great with a beautiful outdoor area and sushi bar. An incredible selection of food and almost everything on the menu is GLUTEN FREE which is great for me. Highly recommend the Garden of Eden roll and the Crispy Rices. Drinks are amazing too. Have eaten here 10+ times with no issues ever and quality always the same.

Been going here for years and somehow just discovered their happy hour. Can't recommend it enough, especially on the weekends when it is less crowded. Their crispy rice (on and off HH) are definite highlights and they have a good sake selection to go with all their sushi

Overpriced and the sushi tasted old. On top of that the prices are twice as much as other spots in Denver. I was not impressed.

Honestly, WOW. As someone who was diagnosed with Celiac 22+ years ago, this place is a dream. Everything on their menu besides 2 items is gluten free, including the tempura. I haven’t had a tempura roll in forever!! Not only is almost everything gluten free but it is all DELICIOUS. I can’t believe it took me this long to find this spot! Definitely my new go to sushi place in Denver.

The restaurant looks better than the food tastes. The cocktail was weak, the staff was ok. The chef sashimi was very disappointing. 3 types of tuna and salmon...We didn't finish the sashimi. And this is coming from people who have never left sashimi uneaten. Will not visit again any time soon.

Denver's best sushi restaurant, hands down

I believe I tried the Bamboo Dragon and the Friday the 13th roll which were okay. I was more impressed by the salmon nigiri flight adding the king salmon belly. The king salmon belly and the Masu were my favorite I would go back just for the king salmon belly and to try the miso soup, their regular spicy salmon roll and either the sun set or the unicorn roll. Parking sucks but it’s Denver what can you expect- just plan ahead.

Not just gluten-free, friendly, it's a gluten-free paradise. Tamari on the table and the menu is marked for items containing gluten. Stress free for someone with Celiac.

This place is amazing for people with Celiac or gluten free allergies. Everything is gluten free or can be made gluten free with a designated fryer. So happy! Andrew was our server and he was remarkably helpful and so educated!

Bamboo Sushi continues to deliver. What started as a one time birthday date spot has turned into our favorite sushi (emphasis on gluten free) spot for every night we can. The Green Machine, Friday the 13th, Fry Tide, and Big Island are unreal. Every time we come here we are in disbelief how good the food is. Every time we get sushi somewhere else, we wish it was Bamboo Sushi.

Love this sushi place, one of my favorites in Denver, tried multiple new things like Uni that I'd never tried before. Service is great and when I was there in summer the outside seating was nice. Can be a little pricey but very high quality fresh fish.

Bamboo sushi never disappoints and has a moderate price point for Denver sushi. There is an elevated atmosphere for the price. Try some of the crispy rice, signature sashimi and the specialty rolls. The fish is fresh, service is quick, and vibes are great.

Preface: I just drove in from Chicago, and this was the first real meal I had since heading out. Boy was it worth the unintentional wait. Probably top three sushi I’ve had, and I’ve had a lot. The flavors were intuitive but new, and the fish might have just been pulled from the water. The drinks were also on point (their old fashioned and the legacy). Spicy edamame? Actually picante! On the fence? Don’t be. Go there.

I’ve been here many times and for many celebrations.. always love coming here! I’ve also noticed the waitstaff stays for awhile so I assume most of them enjoy working here as well? Always love the food and recommend my friends, obsessed with green machine, figured it was time I share my review! We moved from Sunnyside to DTC and still prefer Bamboo over anywhere else. 🙂

It was a terrible evening to be in Denver downtown because of the big concert going on there and even though Bamboo shoot is farther away from the action, finding a parking spot there was next to impossible. We probably drove around in circles for half an hour before we found a spot. It worked out that we had driven over early, else we would have been late for our reservation. So just be mindful of the parking situation around Bamboo shoot.
We got seated soon and greeted by our server. She took our order of drinks. However the drinks took a while to come to our table. To their end, they were quite busy.
I had the Kindred spirit for my drink and it was enjoyable and unique. There was a faint hint of the lychee and am not sure how the toasted rice adds to the drink..nonetheless very tasty.
For our sushi, we ordered multiple rolls - Unicorn, Bamboo dragon, Garden of eden, Hoki poke box and Fry tide. They are all on the pricey side but I think at par with Denver pricing.
The rollss were all well made - as in the rolls held up and the fish was fresh and each kind was tasty. But our favorite was the Hoki Poke box.
We wanted to order dessert but our server seemed to have vanished and never came by to check on us. Eventually we had to flag another server to help us out. She got our order of Matcha pana cotta for dessert and handed us the check with an apology. She even comp’ed the dessert because we had been waiting for so long. The pana cotta was delicious and at a perfect sweetness level. If not for the unnecessary wait post dinner, this would have been a great experience for us.

Unfortunately we had a very bad dining experience. I had to spit the edamame twice because it had rotten ones i haven’t noticed until i bit them. Seaweed salad also was very hard to digest. Miso soup was the only good food we had. We also ordered 2 rolls of sushi (rainbow and unicorn) and both had some weird stuff we had to spit out. I don’t know how it all happened to us but probably won’t trust the freshness of food here :(

Pretty disappointed in the food & happy hour changes. We’ve been here at least 20 times & we usually love it. The happy hour change does not include any classic sushi rolls (it used to include many different traditional rolls). We thought we were ordering regular sushi when we ordered the trio - it wasn’t that and the seaweed taste was very intense. May have lost a customer because we are happy hour warriors and this just doesn’t hit the mark. However we will give it another chance eventually and I’ll update my review when we do so.

My first time here on a friends recommendation and it did not disappoint! We caught the tail end of happy hour and ordered the ceviche which was delicious. This place hits on all fronts. For sushi in Denver and Colorado in general, I have to say this place is amazing. They have really inspiring flavors, a well thought out menu and an absolutely wonderful atmosphere. The menu is truly Japanese inspired but with that American flare. Another boast for this place is its consistency.
I've been here a dozen or so times and it's ALWAYS the best for sushi. I've gone to so many places and they just don't deliver on this consistent of a basis. I HIGHLY recommend coming here. Even if you don't like sushi, get fried chicken and drinks. It's amazing. Love you Bamboo!!!!

I had an amazing dining experience at Bamboo ! Jorge, our server, provided exceptional service throughout the evening. He was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and ensured that everything was perfect from start to finish. Came into bamboo on a hot summer Saturday. Was craving an orange creamsicle ice pop and after telling the bartender (Henry), it’s like this man instantly knew exactly what to do and made me the most delicious refreshing summer orange creamsicle cocktail. I was blown away by the level of detail and caring. Next time your at bamboo, tell the bartenders your most desired cravings and they will deliver!! Also sushi was AMAZING.

Not sure why Google shows it as $$, the price is rather high for a small amount (have to be honest here - very fresh, very high grade) of sashimi. Still, needs to be at least $$$

We could not sit a party of 8 together because there were reservations. We sat 4 and 4 with a table of 2 in between us that was empty the entire time we ate. When we confronted the manager on duty he told us the reservation never showed up even though there were at least 4 2 tops available. He snatched the plate of sushi out of my wife’s hands and told us to get out, we will never go back.

I visited this restaurant to celebrate my birthday, but the experience was disappointing from the start. The service was subpar, we waited a long time for drinks and to place our order. Once the food arrived, our server never checked on us - one of the dishes was terrible, and we couldn't express our dissatisfaction until about 30 minutes into the meal. We never got a chance to ask for cocktail refills because she never came around, and despite the restaurant not being busy, our server seemed uninterested in our table. We had to seek assistance from two other servers, who were very nice, but we left without any birthday acknowledgment. I wouldn't recommend this place for special occasions. The food was mediocre; I've had better and it was not worth being treated terrible.

The food and drinks were delicious!! They were playing good music and all around was a wonderful experience. The only reason service was 4 star instead of 5 was there was some confusion the bight we went, our original waitress disappeared for a very long time and another waitress ended up helping us out, then our original waitress showed up again and had no idea we had already ordered. Besides that, everything was great!

Writing this review with the intent on going back and seeing if it was just an odd night. Came in for a special occasion with a small party of 6. Ended up getting put in a corner where I had to slide down into the corner so not a great start. Was very happy with the food. Super tasty and came pretty fast on a rather busy night. Service was ok. It was quick but didn’t get the sense that we really mattered at all and were just there taking up space till we paid the bill. I served tables for about 12 years in a nice restaurant and for the price felt that the experience could be better.
Will be back on a less busy night to give it another go.

While the sushi here is exceptional, the overall experience is diminished by the often subpar service. There are a few notable exceptions, such as Nura, who are excellent waitstaff. However, too often, the service feels closer to a fast-food joint than what you would expect at a high-end establishment, especially given the premium prices matching those at Nobu or Matsuhisa. The restaurant should ensure that the caliber of the service matches the quality and price of their food.

I have been here about 7 times now and it's been great every single time. I'm a big fan of their specialty sashimi dishes, the specialty roles and the smaller maki rolls. I can eat the negihama rolls all day long! I've also tried some of the hot food and have not been disappointed, the chicken karaage is not overwhelming or too greasy. They also have a nice selection of non alcoholic drinks! I would come here every day if I could! Lastly make sure to try their Wasabi root! It's a bit of a splurge but we'll worth it!

We arrived for dinner to no hostess and just waited around until someone came by. They said they were looking for a takeout order that had no label. Cool. It looked packed but we were able to get a table fairly quick. Too bad our waitress was extremely rude. She was giving attitude about a question I had about the menu, which she ended up being wrong about in the end. Then she forgot our order and we had to wait twice as long for our sushi. The funny part is she tried to act like she was “checking on our order”. The sushi was decent but combined with the price and service it was definitely not worth it to dine here. Just avoid this place.

Had a bad experience. White red hair host was super rude, had a group of coworkers and 2 Hispanic arrived first to the place. They were ignored completely until we arrived (bunch of whites) and then we were greeted and offered a table? We also saw how you ignored Delivery Drivers.. because they are Hispanic or Afroamerican? Is that such a coincidence that my coworkers and the delivery drivers got the same disrespect same day? We definitely believe everybody should be treated equally and for sure here there is a big preference for white customers. Food is ok, we have been in better places with a much better variety and prices. Servers were mediocre at best. They were chatting and gossiping rather than provide a better service. Spent a bunch of money but we just got that bitter experience with the host and the discrimination.

I came to Bamboo with my friend who lives in the area. I was visiting her from New York and she mentioned that we had to make time to get sushi here. Our waitress was Kait who was very kind and attentive. For an appetizer we split the mixed green salad (not pictured but so good) and the spicy tuna crispy rice which were both filled with delicious flavor. Due to our hunger level, we only ordered one special roll to split. We got the Garden of Eden roll which was so amazing. It was the perfect amount of food to split. One more roll would have been ordered if we were hungrier. Definitely would want to come back the next time I'm in Denver!!

We went and tried the restaurant week menu.
The food is good, the place pretty nice. I will say what I didn’t like.
It was a Monday night and it was bit cold inside the restaurant.
Portions were small, and even though it’s 5 courses you might leave a little hungry.
My drink was bad. I got a draft beer, it wasn’t well drafted, it had no foam, and retained all the carbonation in the glass.
Average service - the waiter does not describe each course other restaurants normally do during a tasting menu.
Tip is given on a tablet held by the waiter with a minimum tip option of 20% on the screen.

We first discovered bamboo when we lived in Portland and when we moved back to Denver we were thrilled they had a location here. Not only is it GF but also just tastes amazing and fresh. One of our favorites is actually the green machine roll - and it’s actually vegetarian! Spicy salmon is always my go to.

If there was an option to grill the scallops, this experience would be even greater. Raw scallops are not our favorite.
The Sushi is great. I have been looking for a place that has the mouth watering shishito peppers that I've had in the past and this comes pretty close. The edamame was nicely seasoned. We devoured the entire board of sushi, I even enjoyed the garden sushi which is not usually what I would think to enjoy.
Chelsea our waitress was great, did not rush our dinner, very knowledgeable on menu items. Definitely coming back to Bamboo for another great experience.

Spent $100 and disappointed by every item. Just straight up bad tasting food.

Food was delicious and service was attentive. I got various small dishes and rolls and everything was of great quality. The restaurant itself is pretty and we were able to get a reservation without much notice. Options available for vegetarians.

This was the best sushi I have had. Our waitress, Katie, was really friendly and very pleasant towards us, she really made our experience extremely enjoyable. 😁🇦🇺

We had a really good time here.
The food was really good. The fish/seafood were premium, and the price was really reasonable.
Our server Nura was really nice. She realized that it was my wife bday last week, so she gave us a little birthday cake/dessert. It really made our day. Thanks Nura if you are reading this!
We will definitely come again! We will tell everyone else to come too. Also the responsible sourcing of ingredients is a big big plus for us. Thanks for such a wonderful dinner.
PS we ate all the food as soon as they come and forgot to take pictures lol

Top notch happy hour. Would recommend the cauliflower, crispy rice, and green machine roll if you are looking for some good vegetarian options. The chefs nigiri was excellent too. We will be back for sure!

The BEST sushi we've ever had. Especially for the price. Our favorite dishes were the Cauliflower appetizer and the Green Machine roll! Everything was so fresh and we were surprised by some of the interesting flavor combinations that were absolutely delicious. Our waitress Nura was phenomenal- she gave excellent food recommendations and top-notch service. If we're ever in Denver again, we'll def be back to visit this restaurant!

Very very good sushi. Good enough to almost forget you're in the heart of a landlocked state

Wonderful sushi. As someone originally from the coast, I’ve long sought sushi that paralleled what I grew up with. This exceeded any and all of those expectations.

Favorite restaurant hands down! Phenomenal intimate but fun ambiance, an immaculately well balanced and tasteful menu with inspired and elevated drinks. Chelsea is our favorite server and we love coming every time.

Learned the laws of sushi delivery. Don't get it, I bet sushi restaurants allocate their worst food for delivery. I've had really good meals here in the restaurant. I've also had mediocre to gross meals from here delivered. I come here for the salmon and it's usually great. Last meal I got delivered through Uber Eats, salmon didn't taste very fresh, I called to let them know and they didn't really care. Talked to a manager. That kinda sucks...but they knew. I see that now. Ordering sushi delivery is always hit or miss it seems. My theory is that if fish is questionable, sushi restaurants allocate it to delivery orders. If the consumer is upset, they can ask for a refund from Ubereats or whatever. Versus if its in a restaurant, now you have someone complaining in front of everyone else. Makes perfect sense as to why I only get bad sushi delivered and good sushi in the restaurant.

This is our favorite restaurant in Denver. Getting to have tempura is such a treat! This is a very gluten friendly restaurant, as most of their items, including their tempura, are gluten-free. We come here many times a year and love taking out of town guests. Their signature rolls are excellent! The green machine is our favorite, although we like them all. We love the cauliflower appetizer. Chelsea has been our server several times and she is wonderful. This place is a hidden gem of Denver!

Not a huge selection of sushi, but where they lack in selection, they make up for it by making exquisite rolls! Great and friendly service and very accommodating to our two year old.

Fabulous, and with two people with Gluten intolerance, it’s a no brainer as nearly everything is GF without asking in fact they only mark item with G if it has gluten vs the other way around. Fresh and delicious sushi, new style sashimi, and great service and atmosphere with energetic music

Amazing selection of creative nigiri, and rolls! We tried the green machine roll, and I was a little suspicious but it was SO delicious! Also love their salmon and tuna crispy rice. Also not typically a dessert person but the black sesame brownie was so worth it.

We were looking for somewhere to enjoy dinner on Friday night and were craving sushi, so we decided to check out Bamboo in LoHi. When we first arrived, they said the only seating they had was at the bar or at the sushi bar, so we chose the sushi bar. All of the staff was very friendly. We were immediately greeted and asked if we had any restrictions or allergies the waitress should know of. After a few minutes, they told us they had a table outside if we wanted to move out there. I'm glad we did, because the patio was beautiful. They had misters going to keep your cool, and the landscaping gives the place a jungle oasis feel.
After looking through the menu, we settled on the Full Circle and the Shrimp Tempura. The Shrimp Tempura was pretty basic, though still delicious. The shrimp was perfectly crisp and the fillings were generous. The Full Circle sounded a bit adventurous with watercress, fried green onion, and a ginger citrus dressing, and we really enjoyed it. The flavors were well balanced, and the crunchy onions really added a nice texture to the roll.
We will definitely be adding this place to our restaurant rotation!

This place had me at gluten free tempura. I haven't had that since I was diagnosed with celiac. I love that the DEFAULT is gluten free here. Thank you!!!

Love me some bamboo sushi. Garden of Eden and Green Machine are so delicious. My other go to is the salmon Nigri with orange zest and the scallop yuzu!!!!! So yummy!!!!!!

Very knowledgeable and accommodating for celiac disease!! I will barely eat out due to concern of cross contamination, but this place makes me feel very safe and I haven’t had any reactions after eating here.

The sushi was solid but the ambience and service were really top notch, which is the biggest thing I want when I go out to eat especially for a special occasion. Our server Nura truly went above and beyond to make our anniversary special - the staff even wrote us a card and brought out a brownie. Favorite menu items were the cold sake, tuna poke and chicken karaage. Also would love to try the tuna crispy rice. We will be back, thanks for making our night special.

Ordered Bamboo crispy rice tuna, I do believe I got the display model..rice was very stale feeling like rice crispy treat, the spicy tuna on top was like day old ketchup, also Ordered a Grilled Salmon Steak, it would come to show they're better at sushi then cooking the food the salmon was very underdone.
Lastly there rice and Spicy Aioli was delicious!
Feel like I got the "we're going home" treatment, most all of the other reviews are very positive.

The manager Tamio was overly rude. The sushi chef Roland ignored me and my family so we went to the main bar while he spoke down to female service workers. Henry was rude and abrasive. I wont recommend or return regardless of the food.

We celebrated my fiancé's born day. We enjoyed Decadent selections of creative entrées and drinks. It was quite the atmosphere. It's soft and subtle but Asian sheek. The Vibe is on point ...Food, Music, and Staff's attention were worth the Cost.

Sushi was excellent. Service was not. Sat at the bar and bartender was rude / despondent anytime we asked for anything. Additionally, once presented with the check, the default tip options are 20/25/30%. Excessive to say the least.

10/10 recommend! Trendy spot! Sit at the sushi bar and ask for Brennan and Ashlee. Hand rolls, nigiri and cauliflower were delicious. We even got to try some amazing off menu items. Can’t wait to come back.

First time we went in and the food and service was pretty good. Unfortunately, this did not transfer to their take out. We didn't get everything we ordered. The food was ok. If we do go again it will be to the actual restaurant.

I’ve only ordered from door dash but this place is legit. Best miso soup I’ve had in Denver and all of the food is incredibly good quality.
