Truly the most amazing food you’ll find, maybe ever. Aubrey was our waitress and she was OUT. OF. THIS. WORLD. Truly, the life of the party, professional yet congenial. I loved having her serve us and will request her back every time. The Hawaiian Ribeye is the go-to…trust me! And you can’t go wrong with The Crush Drink or any sushi.

Hillstone has eliminated crab cakes and no longer serves their delicious Asian inspired salad with the beef. They now serve this wonderful salad with thinly sliced chicken instead. If you request it, they will upgrade the sandwhich style sliced chicken in the salad with the much better chunks if spit roasted chicken. Still, the beef chunks were tender and delicious, and the sliced chicken isn't as good. Ask for the roasted chicken if you order the asian noodle salad. It's not as wonderful as it used to be, but very good nevertheless.

Added: I go here regularly. It's truly wonderful and reliable.

Disheartened by Hillstone Denver’s strict seating policy—refusing to accommodate our family gathering of five. A restaurant should bring people together, not keep them apart. #FamilyFirst #DiningDisappointment

Little house salad was delicious, although I truly miss the beets, they were the best part of the salad. French dip was tasty as always, bread perfectly toasted, meat medium rare. Red cabbage did not disappoint. BRING THE BEETS BACK TO THE SALAD!

My adult children and I dined at Hillstones last night, or attempted to. The man at the table across from us was shining his flashlight at our table - hurting my eyes. We thought he probably didn't even realize he was doing it, so we politely asked our waiter to ask him if he could just shine it on his menu instead. We have no idea what the waiter said to him but it absolutely INFLAMED the man. He and his wife started loudly saying how ridiculous we were and he started aggressively and intentionally shining it in my face. My son got up and very calmly asked him to stop. That seemed to make him even more angry. He continued to shine the light at me. I then got up and asked him to stop, telling him that I was just trying to enjoy dinner with my family. That made his wife so angry that she jumped up (after yelling at me that I was trash) and went to tell the manager. The manager then came by and very condescendingly asked me if I was alright. Is it really not ok to politely ask someone not to shine a light in your eyes at a restaurant?? I told the manager what was happening. His response was to ask if we wanted to get up and move. He said he would not move the other table. We hadn't asked him to. After that, other than to drop our food off, absolutely no one came by to check on us. Meanwhile, the bully and his family received over-the-top service. My family and I were so disappointed and disgusted that we could not eat. I was sick to my stomach. How is it that a man can bully a woman like this, tell management, and then the bully is rewarded?? I have never felt unsafe in a restaurant in Denver before, but I definitely did last night. We paid $400 to be bullied and to feel sick. This was the absolute worst dining experience that I have had in my 60+ years. My daughter and I have lunch at Hillstones once a week. We are going to rethink that. I realize Hillstones doesn't care. That was incredibly evident last night.

Smoked salmon and deviled eggs were great. The chicken sandwich was delicious but very hard to handle. Cutting the sandwich into thirds caused the sandwich to fall apart once the pick was removed. Nice plate presentation just challenging to handle.

One of my favorites in Denver because of the consistently good quality of any dishes served and correct service.

Among our favorites are the Osaka pressed sushi, grilled artichokes, Ruby Star salad (with deliciously crispy salmon) and the French dip. Their martini never disappoints. For dessert, try the Sundae or Key line pie.

Unless you don't mind waiting at the bar or on heated outside patio, reservations are strongly recommended.

I reserved our office holiday luncheon two weeks ago . We were told we would be at separate tables, which we agreed to. Upon arrival, we were told by the greeter, that they do not accommodate parties more than 6. I advised we had reservations and simply wanted two tables next to one another as discussed during our reservations . She reiterated that “we don't accommodate parties more than 6. Whats worse, she did it in a snotty and condescending manner. She also did this in front of several employees and customers. As we promptly left, we saw multiple booths next to one another. We called and found out this was the Manager, Brittany. Brittany, treating customers like this is rude, unprofessional and flat out gives Hillstone a bad name. Shame on you.

The Mid century modern space is exceptional for a meal. Wide, comfortable, and perfect lighting. Did not have a reservation (recommended) but it the bar area was a nice place to get started.

The food is elevated Americana. Definitely recommend the grilled artichokes & the famous french dip. Prices match the area $$$$ but ingredients are quality and portions are generous. Surprised by the Osaka style pressed sushi, it’s like nigiri meets Japanese konbini sandwich, very tasty!

I will say that immediately upon entering there was a sense of being sized up since this place is higher end. Never mind though, eaters gotta eat! The service was very much “the customer is always right” so our needs were taken care of swiftly and then some.

All in all a fine dining experience.

Havent been there for a long time. Just went for lunch. It was pretty impressive. Service was good, foods were fine. It was also pretty busy during lunch time so that was nice to see a busy restaurant during lunch in CC. I ll definitely go back and try dinner too, which i did more than once & ea time everything were quiet good except sometimes even if u may have a reservation u still end up waiting for a table. It happened to us a cpl of times & we waited almost 30 to 45 mins which is not good if we made reservations. Other than that & difficult parking situation, it is a very good restaurant.

We were told the wait would be almost an hour, and we were fine with that. A group came in 15 minutes after us and was seated 20 minutes before us at a table that easily would have fit our party of 5. To "make up for it" they seated us in the bar for a little while with a free appetizer, but would not serve us our meal there. We finally were seated after over an hour and a half. Luckily the waitress, bartender, and food were all great. Unfortunately, the haughty attitude of the hostess will keep us from returning.

This used to be my go-to upscale restaurant in the Denver area, but sadly I can no longer say that. Our past 2 experiences have been less than great. From the unwelcoming hostesses to a lack of menu item availability and a charred filet mignon, I will be finding my new go-to spot and can no longer recommend Hillstone to friends and family. If you do choose to dine here, don’t get hustled by the deck next to their parking lot that will charge you $40 for a couple of hours on the weekends.

I've been to this location. Maybe five or six times. All in all, it's a very good place. The parking is a nightmare. They changed their menu. I didn't realize it was a chain so I've never eaten at any other places. But their sushi's actually pretty good. The service is very high quality. And the ambiance is pretty good. I like their fireplace outdoor place. The price is reasonable compared to other fancy steakhouses. Overall a very fairly solid Cherry Creek steakhouse. I think Cherry Creek grill is probably just as good though. And the parking isn't as terrible. And for some reason seeding's always hard to get at this place as well.

We are regular guests at this restaurant and I am very disappointed to provide you with this review.
On Thursday evening 9/19, we were very early for our booking, I called the restaurant to ask whether we would be able to get a table earlier. The lady at the reception advised to come in and she will see what can be done. When arrived, she assured us that we are now checked in to be seated soon.
However during the 35 minutes we were waiting, both ladies who worked at reception this night, ignored us completely, avoided eye contact. When she came over to advise us, that she sill doesn't have a table, we expressed our disappointment politely regarding her treatment of us. She responded with an inappropriate wry smile, without acknowledging our disappointment. Her reaction was patronising and immature.
We have no issue with the restaurant being busy or staff being very overstretched, you have our sympathy. We simply would have expected this to be communicated simply and transparently, so that we can make a decision to wait or leave.

I've been going to Hillstone's for several years, since it used to be called Houston's. You really can't go wrong with the quality of food and excellence this place continues to give and time and time again. I'm not sure how people can speak badly about this place, because it hasn't changed (to the whiners, what on earth? haha) I recently went and had the pleasure of being served by Tiffany, who was an absolute gem. Not only did she accomodate my guest and I, but she made me feel like a long-time friend I hadn't seen in awhile. I continue to come back, because the staff makes me feel like I'm always taken care of.

Men are not allowed to wear ball caps but women are? Makes no sense. If you are trying to set a standard level for atmosphere it shouldn’t matter the gender. If you allow one person to wear ball caps, let everyone??

Edit: the manager helped out with our fussy toddler and suggested giving him some mangos to calm him while we waited for our entrees. I know it was to help keep the atmosphere comfortable for other customers but we appreciated his help nonetheless :)

The food is really good too, but just allow ball caps for men if you allow it for women. Don’t be weird lol

A rib should not be that tender. It never has been before from years or 20 years of visits. You picked up the bone and the meat fell off immediately. On August 18th 2024 I took my husband and my oldest friend to dinner to celebrate bothe of their birthdays (we didn't mention the birthday, just a nice dinner to celebrate 35 and 40 years on earth respectively.) So, the food is great, about 30% of the waitstaff is great, and the décoré is warm and inviting. That being said, there are several women at the front (with poorly drawn-on eyebrows - like 4 of them, all totally different looks but the common theme is the clownishly distracting eyebrows) that are incredibly rude. The manager walks around like he has a chip on his shoulder so I don't know if the staff is rude because that is what they are naturally or because management provides poor leadership; in either case, it was a serious disappointment given my previous experiences at various Hillstone Group locations over the past 25 years. The Hillstone Restaurant Group has never disappointed before (Cherry Creek Grille, Huston's, Rutherford Grill etc...) but I have to say, the staff at this particular location is a major let-down. I don't think I or my companions have unreasonable expectations, we made no special requests, we had reservations, and we were dressed appropriately. I'll likely go again to see if it was just an off night, but if the experience is even half as bad as my recent visit, I'll stick to the Cherry Creek Grill and locations in other states.

Hillstone in Cherry Creek used to be a gem in Denver's dining scene. Known for its professional service, upper-class ambiance, and consistently high-quality food, it was a favorite among locals. The preparation was impeccable, high quality ingredients, consistency, and the staff & management were fantastic making every visit a delightful experience.

However, recent changes in management have drastically altered the atmosphere and quality at Hillstone. The new manager, unfortunately, has been quite condescending when approached about issues regarding the food. His overall approach and interactions with other guest was very shocking to watch. Perhaps things are management differently Hillstone Florida, where he claims to have started. However, this attitude is a stark contrast to the warm and professional service that used to define the Cherry Creek Hillstone.

It's disappointing to see such a reputable establishment lose its charm and reliability over poor management.

This shift in management and food quality is driving loyal customers away, myself included. It’s hard to envision Hillstone maintaining its previous status without significant improvements. For now, it seems that the glory days of this Cherry Creek favorite are, regrettably, behind it. 😔

Don't touch the old magazines! There were a bunch of old, slightly tattered National Geographics by our table, like you would see in a hotel lobby or maybe at a yard sale. It was a pretty long wait for our food so we were looking through a couple of them. A manager (?) came over and scolded us for touching them. They should put them behind glass or put up a sign if they are just for decoration. Or better yet, get something nicer for that space. Hillstone was one of my favorite restaurants from when I lived in the Cap Hill area. An upscale casual chain that I would frequently walk to because the food and service was always top-notch. For this reason, I chose Hillstone as my birthday dinner this year, and unfortunately, that was a huge error in judgment on my part.

I had been craving their Spinach and Artichoke dip for weeks, which was probably the main reason I chose this for birthday dinner. Immediately upon arriving I ordered the Spinach Dip - which came out very quickly. At that point, we placed our order. The Spinach Dip was excellent - we were off to a great start. I ate the whole thing like a real fat boy - but it's my birthday, so I was going to eat as much as I wanted. While I stuffed my fat face we ordered sushi and burgers. Nom nom.

About 3 minutes into gorging myself on Spinach dip, the waitress asked if we needed anything. I asked for a refill on my club soda. This is where things started to go downhill fast. 10 minutes later, there was no club soda, and our waitress had disappeared. Not a word to us - just a missing woman. Perhaps she was abducted? Perhaps she got injured on the job? Maybe she had to go somewhere else to retrieve my club soda.. the possibilities were endless - but the waitress never returned. She simply vanished without a trace. I was very concerned because I'm a big fan of first 48 so I knew time was of the essence for her sake - but no one came by to check on us. We were basically left there with an empty plate of Spinach Dip - waiting at this point for about 15 minutes + on sushi.

Around 15 minutes in, the manager came by asking if we needed anything. I requested club soda again. I told him about the disappearance of our waitress - and he basically said he wasn't sure where she went. Maybe she was sick - maybe she just left - no one knows. Talk about anticlimactic - to this day I'm still not sure what happened to her.

What I do know - is that the sushi finally got to us about 20 minutes after our order. It was mediocre - probably because it had been prepared way earlier and just sat there waiting for our missing waitress to pick it up. The burger also eventually arrived, but wasn't as hot as usual. The manager apologized, but really, the entire experience was ruined. I mentioned again how disappointing the service was on this occasion - but it must have fell on deaf ears, because even the apology was pretty subpar.

At this point, I have to say, I probably won't return to Hillstone. It's a shame - because I really loved that restaurant and their spinach dip - but I think the waitress and managers really missed the mark in making things right for the customer and birthday boy on this occasion. In closing, I hope the waitress is ok and not on a carton of milk as a missing person.

Hillstone has truly gone downhill. 24 health violations between 9/2021 and 3/2024 including eight (8) violations on 3/21/2024. (This is public record and can be found by a google search for Denver restaurant violations.) Gross, but not surprising.

3/21/2024 - 8 violations
9/7/2023 - 2 violations
5/24/2023 - 3 violations
10/25/2022 - 1 violation
3/24/2022 - 6 violations
9/21/2021- 4 violations

I'm writing this message to share my displeasure with Hillstone and the customer service provided to me today. I am a regular patron of Hillstone (it is/was my favorite restaurant) and have been eating in your Cherry Creek location since I moved to Denver in 2013. It would be a conservative estimate to say that I have spent $2500+ in your restaurant in 2022 alone. The food is fantastic, our regular server, Dan, is excellent, but given my experience today, I will never spend another penny at Hillstone. I called the Cherry Creek location at about 4:30pm on Tuesday 11/22 to place a take out order. My mother is in town visiting, so we were out and about and unable to place an online order through the automated system or in person. The employee who answered the phone, Audri, had a poor attitude from the start. Her attitude toward me was that I was an imposition and was wasting her time. I asked to place an order over the phone due to the circumstances, but Audri refused. I understand that there are policies in place, but as a customer facing business owner, I know there are times to accommodate a request. As such, I asked politely to speak to a manager to see if they would be able to make an exception. Audri rudely responded, "He's going to tell you the same thing". Audri then put me on the phone with a manager named Will. Will was no more helpful than Audri. He was unaccommodating with me, short, and made no effort to solve the problem. I was even willing to provide my credit card over the phone to pay ahead of time. This leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. The restaurant is not busy at 4:30pm on a Tuesday night and there is no logical reason why Will couldn't help us. Customers are not an imposition but are the reason your business exists. I don't know if it was the "B" team working tonight since it's a Tuesday, but it was horrifying customer service. I proceeded to call Capitol Grille and spent $350 on a pickup order. They were happy to take the business. Maybe Hillstone will reconsider like the time they stopped taking reservations, upset all the regulars, and then started taking reservations again.

Hillstone dislikes customers, treats them poorly, and doesn't value their health or safety. Notice that they also don't take the time to respond to any reviews.

Tldr: There are lots of better restaurants that will treat you with courtesy, won't put your health in danger, and will be grateful for your business. Avoid Hillstone.

(Slightly Petty) UPDATE: We have just crossed the $5000 mark at our go-to restaurant in 2024. I am happy to report that not a penny of that went to Hillstone.

We made a reservation a hillstone for my partners birthday. The food was great the service was great and our server was amazing. What I don’t appreciate is being singled out halfway through our meal by the manager and being told my partner had to cover his shoulders. For an American restaurant in Denver this felt dated and on top of that as gay men it felt like we were being targeted. There were plenty of men and women with their shoulders out and. About in the dining room.

We spent over $300 so we can wear whatever we want. Plus we looked great that night. I don’t think I will be returning or recommending.

Came from out of town by recommendations from a friend and this place did not disappoint. We ordered the artichoke appetizer as well as the french dip and both were phenomenal. The atmosphere is elevated and chic and makes for a great environment to enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine.

Piss poor service. Waited an hour and a half, while kept getting told "a table is almost empty and you are next" while being encouraged to keep ordering drinks and apps while waiting. Watched other people get seated who walked in after us and didnt have a reservation. Then when we decided to finally leave, got no apology or any recognition really for it.
No appreciation for the customer.

Never a bad meal at Hillstone! They know how to make the whole dining experience incredible! I just ate there 10 days in a row. That’s how much I love this restaurant. I sat at the bar every time and always had a warm welcome by the staff. The food is totally amazing… tastes fabulous, well prepared and beautifully presented. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and attentive! Can’t wait for my next trip to Denver because I know an amazing meal awaits!

If the red head manager is there, RUN. Five minutes after being seated my girlfriends and I started laughing and she came over and yelled at us for being too loud. We were in a corner in between the door and waiting area (aka super loud and not near important patrons). The men sitting in the middle laughing of other tables and banging on their booth at their hysterical joke were totally fine though and seemed to get much better service. If you want to have an uncomfortable evening and be treated horribly come here they will not let you down!!!!

Absolutely amazing place. We sat at the bar and asked Nicole what she suggest. The spinach artichoke dip, Thai tuna roll and pork chop were highly recommended and not one disappointed. One of the best pork chops ever. A great crust on the outside, cooked perfect on the inside. I will return.

Always love this place but it’s lost a little of its luster over the last few years. Food is still good. Service isn’t up to the Hillstone of old. Less friendly, less speedy and prices have gone way up. Will always be back because of the consistent food but may not go as often anymore.

While the food was great, the service was not up to their normal standards. I also prefer my ribs in a slab, not chopped up like the picture. I wish they'd bring back the cheese bread and the flying chicken.

I think it’s a given that the food is so great. We are never let down when we go there. The main reason for my review is the service received. I just got back from Amsterdam and was craving a mint water that I had out there. I asked the hostess if they had anything like that. This tea is not on the menu however she came back with a mug of fresh mint and hot water. I couldn’t believe it! Jenna the Manager, Hagan our server and Brittany the host made a regular lunch very special for my mother-in-law and me! In addition to that the Chicken sandwich and Veggie Burger were
Delicious!

Evan the manager put up a real fight when I was concerned over items listed on menu vs what was actually presented to me. Great job on being corporate trained, Evan - however, you seem to have missed the boat on DECENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. A favorite place of mine is now a complete turn off. Mindblowing to me want to argue over mayonnaise and pickles - why list lettuce and tomato if you don’t want to list bbq sauce, Mayo, mustard, pickles etc?! HILLSTONE ISNT WHAT IT USED TO BE!

The waitress was rude and condescending. They where out of ribs in time then 15 min later she told me they where out of the dish . Then would not accommodate me with any of my meal modifications. To defend this I have eaten here many times before and had small mods done to my meals . Waitress where always nice to accommodating to me in the pass . Then they were out of the chocolate/ nut brownie wait to let me know about that . To add to all these thing no compensation . Worse time here in over a dozen times I’ve been . This is way I am rating it Ike this and talking about it . In my opinion she needs to not be a waitress but maybe a host .

Okay let’s face it. Every dude of a certain age (between 21-65) worships Hillstone. In a cultish way. Why? It’s bro-tastic and a masculine menu if there is such a thing. But it is a great place - everyone can find something on the menu they want. It’s super consistent no matter which one you go to, and the service is manically good. Do I think sushi with mango and macadamia nuts is sushi? No. But is it good? Begrudgingly, yes. Also the best iced tea around. Chicken sandwich is the best. But most dudes will mention the French dip within 1 minute of suggesting Hillstone.

Food is great but we found a hair in our dessert, we also reserved a table at 6pm and were not seated until 6:30pm. Why make reservations if they wont be honored? We were also offered a free appetizer for the inconvenience but that was not honored either and charged to our bill. If it wasn't for the great service by the waitstaff, not the establishment, this review would have been worse. Get better ya'll!

If I could give less stars I would. We had a late lunch with our 15 month old. Should have been a sign when they don’t even offer high chairs that kids are not even remotely welcome. Had eaten our full lunch… which was a large tab for lunch mind you… and we were paying our bill when the guy who was the host came up to us saying we need to be courteous of other guests because our child was happy laughing, playing with us and happy screeching. I have taken her to a plethora of other restaurants around the Denver area that are nicer than this establishment and they couldn’t be happier she is there and accommodate us along our dining experience. I’m not sure what desperation it required to hire this little man with a complex… but might want to reconsider who represents your restaurant. After he came up to us scolding us, multiple guests around us asked if everything was okay because they were clearly unbothered by our child being near them. Absolute joke of a restaurant trying to act high class. Remind yourself you’re a chain Hillstone and check yourself.

This used to be one of my favorite spots in Denver but lately the food is just OK and pretty over priced. They also need to bring back the baked potato... Service is also hit and miss lately depending on who you get. We've been charged for wine and other items we didn't order across multiple visits, both at the bar and at tables. I don't think it's done maliciously, just a lack of attention to detail it seems. They are understaffed and feel chaotic lately too. Not as fun of an atmosphere as before when you can feel the stress of the servers.
