Dishes were pretty good for the most part. For me, this place is a little overrated. The pictures look great but a little bit too much rice compared to the fish ratio. That being said, this is a good place to take somebody on a date.

Had the vegan Omakase with my partner for a date night. Got a couple of cocktails as well as a few extra items as well. Food and service was amazing. As someone who doesn't always eat vegan and who doesn't love mushrooms, every dish we had was excellent.

I called before we arrived to see if there was a wait and was told there was not. Less than 15 minutes later we arrived and were told it would be 1-2 hours to sit even at the bar. No patrons were in line or in the lobby. The hostess was rude. With a straight face told me in those 10-12 minutes it went from open seating to >90 minute wait. It turns out the people I spoke with on the phone are not on property. Clearly a mistake was made and had anyone apologized it would have been fine. Instead she was incredibly rude. Not only dismissive but responded with “I don’t know why you’re asking my name, I’m not the one that told you there was no wait.” Sadly we’ve never dined here and we will not be back. As a business owner I rarely leave a negative review but I wouldn’t tolerate customer service this poor.

Great dining experience at Uchi. We chose to sit at the sushi counter and had Chef Jacob. He was polite and friendly which made an enjoyable experience. I made the reservation via Open Table app a day before the dinner. However, it was Sunday evening, not the Friday night.

Food was in small portions so you can taste many flavorful dishes. Totally recommend lobster miso and order a bowl of rice to finish up the butter miso sauce.
Walu walu was delicious as well.

Service and atmosphere are wonderful. Perfect for special occasions.

*Update: I had the pleasure of speaking with a manager who heard me out and made it all ok by listening to me and understanding what upset me. To keep things real, let’s face it people mess up. What matters is how they make it right. Our phone call and the customer care I received makes me wish I was in Denver again so I could go back.**Do not order the $300 for 2 tasting menu if you want to feel satiated. The food was amazing, but 10 courses at $30/dish was NOT worth it. It also took us 2.5 hours to eat. We left hungry. I’m so disappointed and feel like we could have done better ordering ala carte. All in, we paid over $400 and we only had 2 cocktails each. What a waste of!

I had high expectations for Uchi, but unfortunately, the food didn’t meet them. The quality of the fish wasn’t on par with other sushi spots in Denver, and the rice in the sushi tasted old and lacked the freshness I expect from a place of this caliber. To top it off, the mushroom bowl felt like a reheated leftover, which was disappointing.

The service and atmosphere were great, but overall, the dining experience didn’t justify the hype. Uchi felt overrated, and for the quality and prices, there are better options in Denver.

We tried the chef’s 10 course omakase tasting menu. Great flavor on most of them, especially the Wagyu steak and the bluefin tuna. Different servers bought out our dishes and they were in a rush and we could barely hear them describing the dishes which was a bit disappointing. I did expect a more personalize attention for the tasting menu but felt it fell short. Paying about $400 for two, it’s overpriced for the service and food we received.

highlights: lobster miso, softshell crab roll, wagyu tartare, fried ice cream, kaarge chicken things

We dined there on 11/23 for my birthday and it was one of the top places we were looking forward to for our trip. Brandy was our server. she was very knowledgable, I would highly recommend asking for her! The softshell crab roll was so good, we ordered it twice.

The only downsides were that they were out of several things we were looking forward to ordering, and they did not acknowledge my birthday although I put it in the reservation.

Uchi is unique. The flavor profiles and aesthetics, decor, and menu is unlike other higher end sushi establishments. It is authentically itself, and comfortable in its skin. Omakase: disappointing, lack of attention to detail, and did not live up to expectation.

Starting with the good: fish quality and freshness were excellent, as far as Colorado goes. The passion fruit bavarois was the only item that struck me as exceptional - a perfect balance of flavors - the subtle hint of mint was a nice touch. Lobster miso and wagyu, 5/5. They also provided a complimentary dish for a slight delay in getting a few courses out, which I didn't think was actually long at all.

Now for the not so great. The sea bream sashimi was not properly descaled, we found scales in every other bite. Absolutely unacceptable and completely ruined the experience for my lady. Much of the sashimi was evidence of poor knife skills - thin, uneven, tattered pieces of fish, including one with a string of partially trimmed connective tissue. As for the nigiri, better, but slightly oversauced. Ceviche maki roll was just mediocre in both presentation and taste. The fried milk either had a recipe change or was made with gross negligence compared to last time, the salted fudge was outrageously oversalted to the point where I could hardly taste the chocolate.

Overall, I'm shocked, I would be so embarrassed to bring any sushi aficionado here. Uchi Denver is a shadow of its former self.

Tonight was a great night thanks to our sushi chef Thaddeus. We did omakase and he made some of the best choices and actively listened to our feedback. We learned a lot about the restaurant like that most of the fish comes from the Toyosu Fish Market. We cannot wait to come back for more.

The omakase experience was the best meal I’ve ever had in my entire life. The service, impeccable. The atmosphere, chic and cozy on a rainy night. Perfect for our date night.
The price is expected for this level of food and service.
I did see they have a popular happy hour where you can get some of the same items we were served, ala carte for lower prices.
It truly is a culinary experience and not just a meal.

We love dinning here! From the wonderful hosts to the servers to the back of the house the whole Uchi team delivers!!! Unfortunately this past Tuesday when we dined for my birthday celebration we had a bit less experience than we have had all our past visits. Like I stated in the past reviews how much we love dinning here. For some reason our server didn’t seem too stoked to be serving us, especially after we had order a few food items after he was done taking drink orders. Our favorite dish the eggplant nasu, it came cold and over the years it always has come very hot! Almost too hot but it’s most delicious that way. The refire of the nasu came back a tad warmer but still not to temp that we have enjoyed in the past. As we ordered more throughout the evening, a friend said maybe let’s retry the nasu agin and when we tried to order it our sever recommended we didn’t due to that it wasn’t coming out as we’d like. I understand why he would recommend us not to order something we don’t like but we LOVE that dish. Just wanted it at temp.
The new pork chop was very good. Very nice Katsu breading and accompanied with a delicious rich sauce. The apple purée paired perfectly with it. Unfortunately we left feeling not as for filled as we hoped or experienced in the past.
I would like to further say the uchi team helped the sever in many many ways. I’m sure we saw him bring dishes and clearing our table but I’d say there was a young lady that was much more present at our table along with another gentleman and his trainee. Without those individuals helping throughout the evening our dining experience would have been much worse! So to those three we thank you greatly!!

Love this restuarant the lobster miso was my favorite item i tried, you feel very fancy from the start because of how high quality everything is from drinks to food to service. I will say it is very expensive and compared with other local sushi options it is more of an occasion meal to celebrate. Great place to try new fish, sushi items, but also the kinda spot your going to want some fast food after.

Love this place & have always had a great experience, however, last night the lady (black top & long blonde ponytail) who was running our food to our table was RUDE! She literally slammed our dishes down, named them and would walk off mid-sentence. The first time it happened I shrugged it off but after the third time, it really upset me. She also didn’t clear our other plates or empty drinks. Aside from that our main waiter was great, he was very attentive & extremely friendly. The food never disappoints & we even ordered another dish a second time.

This place is a big ripoff. We went with two other couples and the check was over $400 for average food. Also we had coupons that we received from an event with Project Worthmore in August and they would only take one of our $25 coupons but they gave each of the six of us $50 at the August event. Don't get fooled by this unethical, over priced snoody restaurant.

This is my favorite sushi restaurant in Denver…

Uchi offers non‑traditional Japanese cuisine with signature tastings, sushi, and seasonal omakase.

Upon arrival, we were seated in the main dining room and enveloped in Uchi’s bustling Japanese ambiance. Our server Emily was attentive & knowledgeable about the menu (she had great recommendations).

Uchi has fresh fish, flown in daily & they source their seafood from around the globe - they even have a hydroponic greenhouse situated above the restaurant for their herb & vegetable needs. We saw Uchi’s commitment to quality in every dish we had.

Generally, at sushi restaurants, there is a plethora of sauces provided - soy sauce, spicy mayo, sriracha, you name it - there is no sauce at Uchi. The restaurant prides themselves on the freshness of the fish and garnishes where no sauce is needed.

For cocktails we had the Fiery Yu made with tequila, yuzu honey, thai chili, & lemon.

Our meal started with Madai, Japanese Sea Bream and Sake, Atlantic Salmon nigiri. The nigiri is always the start of the show when dining at Uchi in my opinion. The garnishes & ingredients used in the nigiri, always enhance the flavor profiles of the fish beautifully.

The Uchi Salad was made with daikon, cashew pesto, wild rice panko, and baby greens. Uchi means house in Japanese, this was their version of a house salad. We were directed to eat the salad bundles with our hands. The salad was bright and fresh with a lovely snap that was tempered by the cool, creamy dressing.

The Hot Rock was served with wagyu beef & ponzu. We cooked the gorgeous wagyu to our desired temperature on the hot rock right at the table.

The Machi Cure was made with smoked yellowtail, yuca crips and marcona almonds (we were instructed to eat this dish like nachos). We grabbed a yuca crisp with a piece of Hamachi & almonds on top - salty & sweet. There were great contrasting textures of the crisp yuca chip against the smooth, cool Hamachi. This was everything a complex sushi dish should be.

The Kinoko Nabe was made with mushroom, koshihkari rice, mushroom tentsuyu, and egg yolk. Per the wait staff, we let our rice cook for about 30 seconds in the stone pot to make it nice and crispy. This dish was piping hot, savory, & comforting.

The Namahotate, dayboat scallops nigiri were generous in size, so fresh, & absolutely delicious.

We had two of the daily specials including the Maguro Crudo was made with big eye tuna, spicy pineapple, mango, & coconut furikake.

Presentation was evident in every dish we had, and dessert was no exception. The seasonal chocolate was our favorite.

Only thing disappointing was the price. To be fair though, it’s an excellent value for omakase in Denver. We were well taken care of, which I appreciate having been on a date. He was friendly and attentive.

The mushroom fried rice was our final dish of the evening. We spoke about it for hours afterwards. Not sure if it was intentional, but I found it hilarious that the most humble item on the menu was the star of the night…

I regret not diving into the whiskey or dessert menu, so I guess we will have to come back.

By far the absolute best dining experience I’ve had in a while! I decided to grab dinner at Uchi last minute and walked in on what seemed to be a busy Friday night. It took no more than 5 minutes to get a seat at the bar for dinner (perks of dining solo). The bartender/server, I believe his name was Keanu, was incredibly welcoming and took time to explain the concept of the restaurant and menu to me. I opted for a curated chefs tasting menu. The bartender inquired about a price range (my final bill was $255.42 pre-tip), allergies, preferences etc. He was incredibly thorough and in turn I had the most amazing bites of food ever. Everything was so thoughtfully executed and the sushi was incredibly fresh and fatty and rich! Highly recommend if you’re wanting to celebrate yourself with an amazing dinner or a date night for couples!

Easily the best sushi restaurant in Denver, with an excellent upscale vibe and food that was in a league of its own here. Our waiter was incredibly well-versed in the menu offerings, the daily specials, allergy considerations and drink modifications. We broke down the pro/con of Omakase vs a la carte, and decided for our group of three to do it ourselves. Wow. Classics like Spicy Crunchy Maki, Hamachi, Sake Toro and Ikuri Nigiri were all best in class. Twists like Ora King (seared salmon), Hama Chili and Hirame Usuzukiri (thin flounder) each were plated so nicely and delivered fantastic flavors. Fish quality was stellar, I understand some items are shipped from Japan each week. Can't wait to go back for a special occasion. Make no mistake, it's a pricey meal, especially if you're running up a bar bill, but in this case - worth it.

BRAVO to Uchi for high quality and innovative sushi in a fantastic space. The happy hour menu (served daily) allows for a wide range of their hits at a decent price. Highly recommend the tartar, hirame usuzukuri, walu walu, salmon and mackerel nigiri, and jasmine cream dessert. Would pass on wagyu meatballs, foie gras and kaarage, all were fine just not worth a repeat when the menu is packed with exceptional flavors. Here, every bite counts!

I've never been so well serviced at a restaurant in my entire life. The wait staff were outstanding - consistently coming around and filling water, taking used plates, bringing new courses, it was a truly elevated dining experience.

We chose the option where we gave our waitress a "price point" to work toward during Happy Hour and she delivered masterfully, each dish was outstanding - and I'd happily go back.

My two favorite courses were:
1. Hot Rock (wagyu steak that you sear yourself on a hot stone delivered with the meal).
2. Salmon Nigiri (simple but delicious).

The dessert of "Fried Milk" was also really outstanding - as someone who isn't typically a dessert person I would recommend trying this dessert out.

All in all - I confidently recommend this restaurant to anyone who's looking to try something new.

"We have been here before, ordered from the menu, and the food was great. However, the quality now is not high at all. We tried the Omakase, and it was worse than we expected. I generally prefer to get a table, but my friend really wanted to sit at the Sushi bar, and man was that a good call. All servers and staff were extremely polite and friendly, but our Sushi chef Dennis truly went above and beyond. I have been to Uchi before but last night was my favorite experience by far.

I got the Last Sage cocktail, which I highly recommend for any Mezcal lovers. We sampled an assortment of nigiri (albacore tuna, sake toro, hamachi, unagi, kinoko, and the foie gras - all excellent and perfectly timed in our meal by our chef). The spicy crunchy maki is a great ‘pop’ option for people who want to eat what they generally know and love as sushi, and the lobster miso, while expensive, was unique enough in flavor profile with an amazing bisque that I would get it again. They were out of the uni unfortunately, but I look forward to next time when I get to taste it.

I love this place when I can eat on the patio. The food is delicious. The service is usually top notch.
Indoors is very loud and hard to hear others in your party.
It is pricey so we usually go to celebrate special occasions.

Each of the 10 items ordered came out one at a time 5-10 minutes apart. Some of these single items were literally one piece of sushi or a single handroll. Frustratingly slow dining experience. Could never get into a groove eating.

Food should not be allowed to taste this good. All future food will never live up to the meal we had at Uchi last night. Wow. I’m pretty sure I dreamt about it last night. 😂 Everything was phenomenal and we were in an awe of the chefs and kitchen scene before as, while we dined at the sushi bar. We made our choices and got some recommendations from the chef as well. We were continually blown away and I truly can’t decide what our favorite bite was! We ordered the hana (tempura cauliflower) and I don’t understand how they made it my favorite new way to enjoy cauliflower. We ended up getting two orders, one compliments of the chef. Next up was the hirame usuzukuri, which I again was floored by the flavor. The lime zest and freshness of the entire dish was out of this world. Next was the shag roll. Again, incredible. I need to learn some new adjectives because that does not fully describe how amazing this roll was. The chef surprised us with an eggplant nigiri style dish which was also to die for. We finished up with the recommended wagyu bite, which as a pescatarian I decided to try. Let’s just say, I’d have it again, but no other meat will live up to that bite, so it’s best to just save it for Uchi. If you’re wondering where to go tonight, just make the reservation at Uchi. Fantastic meal, it will not disappoint! And the $5 valet parking was super convenient as well.

All the food down to the soy sauce was incredible. The prices were fitting for a restaurant of this level and we were served in a moderate time even though the place was nearly full of people.

Uchi is hands-down the best sushi restaurant in Denver. I don’t understand why it’s even mentioned in the same breath as Sushi Den. Uchi is far superior. Every bite is heavenly and the service is incredible.

We sat at the bar, which was the perfect way to experience Uchi. Albie and Keanu were so knowledgeable and fun - they nailed every drink and food recommendation. And they made the experience so special - our favorite meal in Denver by a landslide. We cannot wait to go back and try more food!

really disheartening to have to write such a negative review about uchi, but here we are.

i have been to uchi one other time where someone else in my party ordered for the table. the waiter was very, very pushy about doing omakase, but we didn’t. he ordered us multiple dishes and they were all delicious and we all (6 of us) left full and talking about when to come back again.

well tonight was our “again” and we left saying that we will never, ever go back again and telling our friends to not go either. we went with the omakase this time and i see why they push it so hard- it’s a rip off and a trap. it is happy hour size portions for more than double the price of regular menu portions. i will happily pay for the “chefs creation” and take into consideration the time and effort that goes into that but i calculated what we had vs what we paid and it was nauseating seeing how much we paid vs what we should have. quite literally double.

the service was poor, we didn’t even get our water refilled until we had to ask for it after we sat with empty water for almost 20 minutes. i was brought the wrong drink and never asked if i wanted another.

we were there for 2.5 hours and when we left, we were hungry. we literally went to get food afterwards. the ribeye was amazing and the salad appetizer was also good. but paying $150 PER PERSON is absolutely disgusting.

I've been to Uchi in Dallas and Denver several times. My most recent visit was Sunday May 5th.

We ordered 12 items off the menu including bone marrow, ceviche maki, ora king, and variety of nigiris. The food is always on point at Uchi hence I keep returning. However, the service has gotten worse overtime.

For a party of 4, it took over 2.5 hours for our meal. The items were coming out so slowly, we waited up to 15 mins for some of the items. It ruins the entire experience when you sit there just waiting and waiting for food to arrive. Towards the end, we got impaitient and were ready to just leave.

This is something that needs to be worked on. Although I appreciate the slower pace, but over 2 hours for meal service is outrageous.

EDIT (8.2.25) - I spoke with the General Manager Parker and he did a great job of rectifying the experience and attentively took my feedback. Moving to 5 stars

Had my birthday dinner here and I will never be back. From the beginning I called to check on the accommodations I requested on my reservation and the person I talked to was so rude and told me they couldn’t seat the 2 reservations near each other. The conversation was so bad and lacking in customer service that I wanted to cancel but didn’t want to pay the $250 fee. Upon arrival they did seat us near each other (cause the place was half empty anyway) but we ended up not needing the additional table. I will say this is not a place to celebrate at all. We were told that my guest couldn’t even sing happy birthday to me. I also saw some reviews where guest were given a birthday treat, i wasn’t offered anything. Sarah who is a manager came over and told us to be quiet so rudely while the rest of the restaurant was very loud. I hate to say they were racist and discriminating against us but that’s really how it felt. My experience at the Dallas location was not this way. I do not recommend this place if you are a person of color or celebrating they will not treat you well. The food was good though

I've been to Uchi in Denver many times, and it never disappoints! This visit was no exception. The nigiri foie gras is amazing, and the nigiri of Australian Wagyu is unforgettable. The quality and flavors are consistently exceptional.

The service was almost perfect. Usually, our table gets cleaned during the visit, but this time the waiter didn’t pay much attention to it. Also, the waiter didn’t pour us sake or water, so we did it ourselves. Despite this, I still highly recommend Uchi for an outstanding dining experience!

Felix was great for a non native Coloradian. Food was excellent and the flavors very balanced! You can order and it’s fresh and quick. Allowing for as many orders as you like.

The Bobby pins in the men’s room were strange? It was clean.

I typically don’t drop down into the 303 for anything, but this place is worth it.

The violin lessons were not great and the free popcorn was not available!

Parker the GM was very nice explaining that threat management was not available however the Banana cake would make up for any gross negligence in protecting patrons.

All in all you should definitely go try this place out!

Almost as good as a lady of the night on Colfax!

5 stars for sure!

Finally, Denver is doing better than the fen-tonal shuffle!

I highly recommend this gem of flavors to all that love to savor flavors and be a glutton!

Went for happy hour, plenty of open seats, were seated immediately at the sushi bar.
Vibe: Modern, fun (weebie Anime toys over the oven), clean, and I appreciate the menu holder under the counter as it is a place that you're probably going to order in waves.
Staff: Staff were quick with our orders, friendly, but the standout was the sushi chef in front of us who was engaged but not a 3rd wheel, knowledgeable and fun.
Food: In a neighborhood of really good food (and we went through a lot in a short span), it was standout. The happy hour menu is pretty good considering the neighborhood, the food was some of the best in Denver, specifically the Kurodai Crudo which was unbelievable. We also had the wagyu tartare nigiri, tempura okra, inari temaki and crispy rice. All very good and for me living up to their cost (this is a nicer place and that is an expectation). We didn't get it, but it was impressive that they have a happy hour Omakase and a list of fish straight from Toyosu Market in Japan.
Maybe we came because we watch Josh Weissman on YouTube and we know that this specific location has nothing to do with him but still. I don't know if I'd have come without it. For me, it's a clear standout in RiNo.

*Update* After posting our original review Parker the manager at Uchi reached out to us. He invited us back apologizing for the substandard experience. We decided to give them another chance. After returning for a second meal we had an amazing experience. We couldn't be happier with our meal and service.

My wife made a reservation for my birthday. I was excited as several of my friends had highly recommended Uchi. She had made reservations for the sushi bar, we were seated at the end of the bar and seemed like we were an afterthought as the restaurant was storing items in our area. The service started out okay and we ordered a few courses. It literally took 30 to 45 minutes between each course. We were planning on ordering additional courses after we finished our first set. But because we had been there for 2 hours already we did not feel like we wanted to wait any longer. We left hungry and feeling like the food quality was not what we would have expected. I am not sure why we were treated differently than other guests as they seem to have better service and speed with bringing their courses. I know restaurants can have off nights, and I normally would give a place another chance but with how much we were charged for the substandard service and food we will not be returning.

We have been to Uchi Austin and had a great experience so we decided to go to the one in Denver as well! We even brought our 8 month old! The staff was very kind and got him an avocado roll which he proceeded to throw across the restaurant (don't ask!)

If you don't know what's good on the menu don't fret. I don't understand half that stuff either. I highly recommend the chefs tasting menu for $150 per person. It is 10 courses + desert and you can specify things you would like to avoid (I don't like onions). This worked out perfectly and is easily the best sushi I have ever had. They mix in warm and cold rolls as well as some items like tofu which are all fantastic. We will be back! Take a look at my pics which show all 10 courses.
