Casual, local fixture in a strip mall offering all-you-can-eat, hand-rolled sushi, plus beer & wine.
Our new favorite sushi spot! Highly recommend sitting at the bar if you plan on ordering a lot for all you can eat -- it just makes it faster, easier, and more fun I think. The sashimi was delicious and the quail egg shot was surprisingly sweet but good. The staff is super friendly and they mess with each other in funny ways. The black pepper seared tuna was heavenly.

I would have rated them a 5 star across the board but except I asked for 2 shots of whiskey and they came out a little light on the pour. Other than that the food is incredible and the value is pretty solid too. $40 per person on all you can eat sushi is fantastic, but you add in the appetizers and you’ve got a steal of a deal. I’ve already raved to my family and a few friends on just how great it was. I’ll definitely be making a trip back.

Awful service. Waiters forgot our order after 45 minutes. Noodles served lukewarm. I ordered the tonkatsu ramen, egg rolls and 2 orders of all you can eat sushi for my friends. The sushi took 35 minutes and the noodles took 50. This restaurant is a complete waste of time for mediocre sushi.

Having indulged in sushi from various corners of the globe, I can confidently say that Jei may not be the absolute pinnacle of sushi dining, but it certainly holds its own as one of the best options in the area. For someone with a discerning palate, I’d rate it around 3.5 to 3.8 out of 5 based on my experiences. However, when considering the local competition, it definitely earns a solid 5.
The quality of the sushi at Jei is commendable. The fish is fresh, and the rolls are creatively crafted, making for a satisfying dining experience. I particularly enjoy their unique combinations and the attention to detail in presentation. While it might not rival the top sushi spots I've visited internationally, it consistently delivers a solid meal that keeps me coming back.
What really enhances the experience at Jei is the welcoming atmosphere. The staff is friendly and attentive, creating a comfortable environment that makes dining there enjoyable. I appreciate how they take the time to explain the menu and offer recommendations based on my preferences. It feels more like a community than just a restaurant, which is something I value in my dining experiences.
Overall, Jei is a great spot for sushi lovers, especially if you’re looking for a reliable place that delivers good food in a friendly setting. Whether I’m stopping by for a casual meal or bringing friends to share in the experience, I always leave feeling satisfied. If you’re in the area and in the mood for sushi, I highly recommend giving Jei a try—you won’t be disappointed!

Been coming here 1-2 times per year since ~2019 and used to be in love with the place but it seems like the level of service and sushi quality goes down a tiny bit every time we visit. Stopped in yesterday for lunch and had a very “okay” experience, staff/service was just okay and sushi was a little above Chinese buffet quality for double the price. Not sure if it was because we stopped in for lunch instead of dinner but I think for the price I would have been happier to go to the Chinese buffet and spend half as much for slightly worse sushi and comparable service.

This is my absolute favorite sushi place in town. The sushi is amazing but the staff.. I love going because we are treated like part of their family. They all seem to love what they are doing and love seems to be poured into the food they are serving. I have been many many times and I will be back many more.

I've been here twice and after the second trip I will not be back.
The sushi isn't amazing, but the all-you-can-eat option makes up for the lack in quality or at least it would if orders arrived in a reasonable amount of time. During dinner service we waited for an hour before receiving our last round of sushi--during lunch service it was about 20-30 minutes. The timing is the fault of the wait staff and not the chefs. One waiter struggled with multi-tasking and the other (during dinner service) did nothing but talk. As a result, sushi was often left on the counter for about 15 minutes before finally being served.
The tables were also so wobbly that any pressure exerted on one side would rock the table. This is such an easy fix that has been neglected for at least two months given timing between our visits.

JEI should be considered a historical landmark. I've been coming here for about two years now and have never had a bad experience. From the quality of the food, to the fantastic interactions with the staff, I have nothing but praise for the entire establishment. I would gladly sign a petition to get JEI on every tour of Colorado Springs. Essential eating for anyone that thinks you can find good fish in Colorado.

Food was ok, fish could use more "snap," seemed a bit tired and extra tender. Daughter liked the salmon.
Service was decent, no complaints there. Ambiance was hipster / industrial. Some art, music a bit too loud. Casual, a place to eat a lot. They have all you can drink sake which is interesting, was priced $12.99 iirc
Not cheap but ok if you are going to eat a lot, maybe drink a gallon of sake.
All you can eat was $37 for lunch.

We recently had our second visit to Jei Sushi and enjoyed their all-you-can-eat dinner both times. The experience was wonderful on each occasion. The owner greeted us personally, and the staff were incredibly pleasant, friendly, and provided excellent service. Having dined at all the AYCE sushi restaurants in Colorado Springs, we found Jei Sushi to have the highest quality fish and the best flavors by far. We particularly love the white tuna, peppered tuna, and shrimp on the flip side. Everything we've ordered has been fantastic. I highly recommend Jei Sushi for AYCE or just a few rolls. It's a great family-run business!

Due to my curiosity of how AYCE is done in Colorado Springs, I decided to visit this establishment to give it a try. Jei Sushi had the highest rating out of all the other AYCE.
At a $40 price point, I would expect more quality. This price matches AYCE in the east coast or even LA. Salmon and Yellowtail were okay. Tuna was below par. Shari was too sticky and lacked vinegar to my liking. I understand that it is hard to cook good sushi rice in Colorado so I didn't count it as too big of a problem.
The biggest problem was that it took nearly 1 hour for the food to come to the table. AYCE is all about speed. I understand that it was a Friday night; 1 hour is still too long. I saw 3 sushi chef working the night. When you have a full house, I'd expect to see at least 4~5 chef working the shift. According to one of the servers, 2 Servers working and 1 working the kitchen. Heavily under-employed for what seems like a 3000 sq. ft. property. Even in this situation, our server still provided us great service. Greatly appreciated.

Ordered our food but server forgot to get one of our parties order, so he had to get up and go tell them what he wantrd. Food wasn't that great. Ordered tonkotsu ramen which had pretty mushy noodles and hardly any toppings besides the chicken karage and a green veggie. No egg or sprouts, etc. Nagiri I ordered also tasted off. Waited quite a while for our order (maybe 30 mins) for dine in. One member of our party didn't get his order till the server came back and asked if he had ordered something. Wasn't super impressed and don't plan on going back. Painting on the wall is cool tho.

Food was great. . . Except the moment you walk in there you don’t know what you’re doing. there is only two tables that are usually filled and a sushi bar that seems to be constantly backed up because only a handful of chefs are back there. We were eventually seated and the server was very nice but it took about 25 minutes to get a order then 20 more minutes to put in another order. Because it was so backed up, we could not get the full value of our all you can eat “deal” which honestly would have been cheaper paying for our rolls individually. But they don’t mention that :/

This was my first time trying this place, and it will be my last. The ramen noodles were so mushy that it was like eating baby food, they were out of the chicken that goes in the ramen and didn’t bother to call me to see if I wanted something else (they just gave me a $10 credit total even though both ramens didn’t have the chicken instead of calling), the entire sushi roll was warm, and the egg rolls tasted like the frozen ones from the grocery store. I am really disappointed with this place—I really wanted to like it. I waited for about an extra 10 mins for my food to be ready after my scheduled pickup time so the food quality is not because I was late to pickup or anything. Maybe they had an off night, but it was not a great first impression.

After 7 years of coming here whenever we can, I think it's time for an updated review:
My family, friends, and I love it here. It has become like a third space away from home and work, to just relax and have a bit of fun for birthdays or really just any day we feel like treating ourselves. I've tried almost every item in the menu by now and love it all. My favorite is the salmon eggs nigiri, I have to get that every time. My husband loves the vegetable tempura, bento boxes, and deep friend cheesecake. We love the mural on the wall, and sitting at the bar where we can watch the sushi being made. I first came here around the time when the restaurant first opened, when my daughter was a newborn, because I couldn't eat sushi when I was pregnant and I had to finally celebrate after my daughter was born. The restaurant owner held my daughter so I could eat with both hands, and she fell asleep on his chest. My daughter is 7 now and she also gets excited every time we go here. She loves trying new foods, the cute waving cat decoration at the sushi bar, and picking a Ramune out of the fridge. I really can't recommend this place enough.

I’m not sure how this place is rated at 4 stars. The food was meh, the sushi rolls were just okay. However, the service was god awfulllllll. The worst service I’ve ever had. I’m pretty I’ve had better service hammered out my mind at Waffle House at 3 am.
I’m pretty sure Karley at Waffle House high off her meth can tend to me better than this place did.
The first time I went, took them 7 years to get my food out.
Second time, I took my friends and gave them a another chance. Instead they forgot one of our orders and we wasted close to two hours waiting for our food. My friends then beat me up in the parking lot with their left over sushi rolls. I cried the whole way home
Third time I went after the gym and again wasted an hour waiting for food and for them to get my check.
This place is perfect if you hate your life and want someone to waste it. 🥲

So coming from a loving sushi eater who has eaten at many sushi places across the US, I can’t say I’m too impressed with this establishment. The sushi took forever to get out and our rice on the sushi was hard and a bit crunchy? We aren’t sure if it’s because we showed up at around 5-6PM and that’s why it was hard but we looked past it. Flavor was good otherwise and we enjoyed the atmosphere. The sashimi we got came on a little boat for almost $30 and it came with 12 pretty small pieces. It tasted fresh though so that’s great! Now, service was not as good and we aren’t sure if it’s because we were tucked away in a corner. (We had a total of 3 servers) As we were checking out we noticed the lady flip the tablet over to tip, which we did, but it didn’t seem like we tipped enough to her liking (mind you, we got checked up on about once or twice throughout our whole meal and water was never refilled) but we still tipped! Before, we walked up to the counter to check out and the lady up front was kind and when we were done pressing the done button on the tab, the lady said nothing, didn’t even look at us, and we left really awkwardly. Now this could just be a one time experience for me as this place has amazing reviews. The thing that made me the most upset was the tipping towards the end.
Would I eat here again? Personally, No. But it’s a good place to have sushi if you’re around the area. And don’t want to go too far for sushi.

Not worth the price. Nothing exciting. WORST ALL YOU CAN EAT!
*EDIT: NOT WORTH IT AT ALL
If they want me to change my rating, they need to give me a free meal (at least 50% off) and stop messing with orders, dropping our food, and be overly expensive compared to other sushi places that offer better service. Trust me folks, look at where I have been too in my reviews, I have been to them all. And the MILITARY DISCOUNT is worth nothing! DON'T EVEN MENTION YOUR SERVICE!

Best sushi in town

First off, the guy that greeted us at the door was excellent. He had a great personality and let us know about the all you could eat. We ordered seven rolls and he ended up implementing the all you could eat because it saved us about three dollars. All of the rolls except one, were excellent and I will definitely be giving this establishment more of my money. Everything was over priced, but that is the normal for sushi and especially in this maven of inflation. Good day

Moved to Colorado from Seattle and haven’t found a sushi spot that I love yet. So we decided to try Jei Sushi since it isn’t far from where we live. Over all it wasn’t bad it was a typical sushi restaurant. There wasn’t much that stood out from this restaurant vs others in the Springs area. The seared tuna was good, I can’t speak on behalf of the other fish they have because I didn’t try them. We got 2 rolls and an order of nigiri. My only complaint is the nori (seaweed) was a little tougher than I prefer. It was really hard to chew. Not sure if we got a pack that has been open for a while or if that’s just the brand they use. The pot stickers were great. Not sure they make them in house or if they are a frozen brand but we really enjoyed them. Customer service was good, they were attentive. Overall I would try Jei Sushi again to try a few other things and see if the nori was just a one time thing.

Went for all you can eat lunch. First round was a mix of things and almost none of it was good. One nigiri was slimy and wholly unappetizing. Because it’s all you can eat they charge for what you don’t eat. I didn’t want to eat any of it but i forced it down so I didn’t have to pay for it twice. I just hope I don’t get sick. What a terrible experience; having to choose between paying double or eating un-fresh fish. In hindsight i shouldn’t have eaten it and just come to an agreement with them on compensation. Wouldn’t recommend.

We love Jei Sushi! My husband loves the all-you-can-eat sushi option and the rest of us love trying different menu items.
The owners are friendly, the food is delicious and we love supporting local.

Very good sushi.

The food was delicious, but the meal was unfortunately ruined due to who I believed was the owner, screaming at one of her employees in front of the entire restaurant. The reason: because she forgot to get a phone number for a party of 8 coming in the next 10 minutes. She said quote "I don't care if they're coming in 10 minutes or 10 hours, if they don't come, then I have turned people away and lost business." Does not make me want to support the business sadly.

Worth it. For about $35, you can have all you can eat Sushi. They give you the menu, and you number off the plates you want, and how many. Usually about 3 courses, if you can last that long. We probably did around 15 plates our first round alone.
They do ala carte too, where each one is individually priced, also good for take out. Will definitely be going back more.

This place can get packed and reservations are highly recommended. My wife is a bit of a picky eater and doesn't enjoy avocado but really likes eel. Unfortunately, this sushi place does not have an eel and cucumber roll without avocado.
Personally, the food was pretty good, but I wouldn't say this is my favorite Colorado Springs sushi place.

It's okay. Agedashi tofu only had 3 small pieces (I've had more at other restaurants) and wasn't piping hot. The Udon needed some type of meat to compliment the soup and wasn't very hot coming out on the table. Finally, the Chirashi was average. While the fish cuts were great, the lettuce didn't mesh well with the dish, and it didn't need furikake. Music is great, cool design and floorplan, however, the decor could use some work.

A++. Best sushi in Colorado Springs. Tastes extremely fresh and isn't overloaded with sauces. The service was prompt and the servers were great. Accommodating to children. The restaurant may not be much to look at, but the music, the family vibe, and the friendly smiles make it enjoyable. Highly recommend this place!!

This is our place for every occasion, birthdays, anniversaries, or just a night out. Yes, the food is fresh and top quality, but it is the staff that make it one of the best restaurants in town. They are fun and want you to enjoy your meal. We love the all you can eat sushi and the calamari is awesome. Most of the restaurant is the sushi bar where you can watch the magic happen. These chefs know their stuff. Ask questions if you are new to sushi or want to try something different; you will not be disappointed. I highly recommend Jei Sushi! I wish I could give it more stars.

Service for all you can eat sushi was very slow compared to other places in town, even when it wasn't that busy. The sushi quality was fine, nothing extraordinary or bad.

Our sushi was very mid. The fish was warm which is a big nono. The guys behind the sushi bar were also visibly and vocally annoyed with the to go orders, which is a great way to make sure your dine in customers never order to go. Restaurant was dirty and many tables sat unbussed for a not so busy Thursday night

Excellent sushi experience, good variety of rolls, also loved the miso soup, fast service, fun little moment sitting at the bar. Nice beer and wine selection! They do have an all you can eat option, believe it's $35 a person - if you order too much you pay for anything that would be thrown away. Absolutely recommend!

I wanted to try this place, as it's in a convenient location. I ordered a total of 5 rolls and a couple kinds of nigiri for lunch. (Names of rolls included with pictures.) The price was good, as the total was around $50 before a tip. I will say, while the taste of the food was decent, it isn't my favorite sushi place in town.

It took a long time for service, ordering food, and communication. They said they were short on staff. They had two people for dishes, two hosts, three sushi chefs, and two waitresses. There was a PIF extra charge and ayce was $35 a person. They did not let us know that they ran out of items until 45 min after our order. I almost fell asleep waiting for food. The restaurant was about 75% full.

Went in for the first time. Got a miso soup and salmon roll. Soup was what you expect. Didn't have a traditional spicy salmon roll wich was odd. The fish itself was stringy like cut up too much. Salmon had a pale color with what looks like a lot of fatty bits. Just dont eat shushi in a landlocked state I guess.

Best sushi in colorado springs. I know I give many 5 stars, but this place is truly worth it. The Nigiri had way more fish than rice, and it is fun to sit at the sushi bar to see it made. It might be 38 bucks for dinner, but the amount of fish per piece is worth the money over other places.

We came Here for the all you can eat, however they don't make half orders. That was the only downside because if I did all you can eat I could only eat maybe 2 rolls because they are pretty big. My wife and I finished 3. The quality was top notch and very fresh.

Hands down the best sushi place i have ever been to! The staff is so kind, the ambiance is a great vibe, and the sushi is amazing and always fresh.

I was very impressed by Jei! Love the open set up of having a bar surrounding the sushi makers. It has a higher end atmosphere that removes the barrier between where your food is made and where it is eaten. As a vegetarian I appreciate a dedicated portion of the menu that's very affordable and delicious.
Would love to see more higher end veggie options!
Is not often that I go out of my way right after eating to review a restaurant (I'm sitting in the parking lot right now lol), but this place left me well fed, well taken care of, and appreciated. I wish I spent more time in Colorado Springs, but I will definitely be coming back here whenever I return 👍🏼🍥

Fresh & delicious sushi! They have all you can eat sushi, but have a rule that there’s no waste or else you pay by the piece of sushi. LOVE that idea! Fantastic idea for zero waste!
I love that we got to sit at the bar & they make sushi right in front of us! The beef bowl is FANTASTIC. We had originally asked for the chicken bowl & they brought us the beef bowl… it was a happy mistake because my 10 year old decided he would like to try it & fell in LOVE. He said it was the “BEST BOWL he’s ever eaten.” The waitress was very apologetic, but everyone makes mistakes, we understand. & plus he tried something new & loved it!

They had an interesting set-up inside, but the food was overall eh. I ordered a random bunch of nigiri. I'd hate to see what some of y'all thought was a bad sushi joint if y'all rated this place so high.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! The staff and atmosphere were incredible and super relaxing. The waitress Alexis was super nice and helpful. I love how she wasn't constantly checking up on us and I didn't feel rushed or pressured. She kept checking for water though which was great! Our sushi chef, Missy/Missie was also amazing! She even recommended the shrimp on the flipside which was super flavorful, light, and refreshing!! Though I live in Denver, my family does not and they will definitely be coming back with more people. For me, the baked mussels were the star of the show and wish I would have ordered more, but I was already so full. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this place and will be coming back every time I visit the Springs.
