This was my family spot many years ago. However, the service and food has gone down. Tempura is over coated and looks burnt and hard. Sushi rolls have imitation crab meat. Instead of five rounds of all you can eat you get three. We were not impressed and only made it to two rounds. The service was okay but did not feel friendly. The price is too high for the level of service and quality of food

First time here, and WOW, I loved it.
I stopped by on a recommendation around noon on a Tuesday. My server Selene was amazing! Her customer service was on point, so helpful, very nice accommodating, which made me feel so comfortable. She answered all my questions and helped me with some of her own suggestions on what I should order. I appreciate her very much because she definitely made the experience a great one.
The food was AMAZING. I kept going through all the rolls, and I wanted to try almost everything! My favorite out of the 4 rolls I ate was the Fiesta Roll 🔥🔥. I'll have to come back and try the others I didn't get to try.
Ambiance so relaxing the restaurant itself was very nice as well CLEAN, decorations were great and the light EDM music gave it such a upbeat but good vibes feel. I enjoyed every minute of my time here, and I WILL BE BACK.

Ordered my food for take out and I was told 630pm to pickup and when I got there. The lady told me 710pm. I told he I want to cancel my order then. She didn’t want to cancel saying she is preparing my order(wasn’t true)I ordered 5 rolls and a couple sashimi. I was completely calm and collective through this whole process while she was being rude and telling she will never accept my order again if I cancel.

The service wasn’t good, they weren’t intentionally nice just there doing their job. I’m not normally one to complain but this place is not worth the prices. I’ve had much better sushi for cheaper. My Philadelphia roll seemed old. The salmon was dry and fishy. I had to have them take it back. And like I said I really hate confrontation and being an inconvenience to people as I work in customer service myself. They didn’t say sorry, they were actually rude to us when we were leaving. I recommend going elsewhere.

The math does not math. I gave her $30 and walked out disgusted. Last time I come here and this was my favorite spot. Thanks for ruining a good relationship. Do not eat here.

Food was ok I won’t say it’s not good, I did get a raw rice so not cooked rice on one of my rolls it is pricey for two people I spent $110 I know other places with fresh sushi and a better price, the “foreigner” employees were very rude with heavy attitude towards the customers one customer next to me had to pay for something he didn’t order I don’t think that was far at all and the waiting time is insane once they took our first round it took about 20-30 mins for them to bring out another of ur rolls I was there for a hour and a half and we only got to eat 1 rounds with 4 different rolls this would be like last place if I had a choice to pick from

We walked in last minute and they were so gracious and quickly gave us the food with smiles and awesome diligence. The food was superb and beyond expecting, I was hangry and moody and it quickly tempered my mood. This was my first time here and it became my most favorite sushi spot in downtown Claremont! This place is authentic, delicious and a lowkey subtle place for a great meal! Recommend to anyone to come.

I had hopes for this place even though some recent reviews were pretty tough. Although many of the reviews were accurate. The service was pretty bad. There were about 3 tables full when we arrived and it took like 5 minutes for us to grab a seat. I had to ask to be seated. The waitress took forever to get our drinks. Food was okay but they had the pink ginger which did not feel authentic. Then the waitress dropped off our food and never checked back in. After sitting there for 30 minutes after our food waitress never picked up the dishes and I had to ask for my check multiple times.

The manager Vivian, was a rude lady with red hair with a ponytail. She raised her voice at my mother on numerous occasions during our dining experience. Our food took an hour to get to our table and we kept getting wrong orders. When we spoke up about our order being wrong she made a scene and spoke to us like children. It seems like she’s new to customers service or maybe she had a bad day but she definitely had a power trip. My mother told her to please lower your voice it’s no big deal and to not speak to her that way. This lady raised her voice even louder and said she was the manager. Overall my family felt uncomfortable, we will not be back. We used to love this spot before it got sold to new owners.

We love love love the VIP style sushi here, it is so good ! Also the tango roll, fiesta roll and Randolf roll are the bomb as well ! It is worth it to all you can eat as the sushi is a bit expensive Al a cart. All you can eat is 35 per person.

From the moment we got there, the service wasn't good. We had never been here so when we were looking at the menu to decide, we tried asking a few questions about the items before ordering. The woman who was helping us looked so irritated and didn't seem to want to help. She had a bad attitude the whole time, even more so when we pointed out that our order was wrong. We tried splitting the check & she said "you can only split three ways maximum" which we understood but when I asked for one of our checks because I had to leave earlier than the rest of the people at our table, the woman got annoyed & made faces the whole time. For the price they charge, they should definitely have better service. If you want staff that's rude and unwelcoming, go here, but if you want good customer service, try a different place because this one isn't it.

I have been to this place many times and recommend it to people all the time. Haven’t been here since maybe 6 years. Took my son for a bite since we were around the area. Place is not as good as the past and the wait for the food is long with minimal people. There was so much rice in the nigiri and thin pieces of fish. Couple pieces of rice fell into table so I set aside. The chef waited for me to walk towards the door to let me know next he will charge. I told him I will never come back. Other better places to go than there. I don’t really write reviews but this was terrible.

My family has been coming to this spot for a few years now. Quality has deteriorated and price doubled. WARNING; if you give some rice to a baby the baby will be charged 25 dollars for all you can eat. Which was a surprise when we got the bill. Im sure theyll come out and do the whole "rules are rules" routine but there is such a thing as being a decent business. Gratuity is forced on you and priced in, so it makes sense they charged us 75 dollars extra for three kids all under the age 4 giving them some extra change, good game! All you can eat is
$36 for adults, $25 for kids (no matter the age i guess), Gratuity is 18%.

***Updated July 2023***. Disappointed, this used to be our favorite sushi restaurant, but they have become so stingy and cheap, it's sad and we've given them two chances. Love Ikura (Salmon Roe) and they only put on a handful - you could see the sushi rice it was so sparse! On one visit, the didn't even bring it and said, we didn't think you would still be hungry so we didn't make it. Their rolls are now more rice than other ingredients and they have been very light on their delicious sauces. Sad to see what they've become. Sam is no longer there.
Found my favorite roll ever, anywhere, here - Casey's Strawberry Shortcake! Salmon, cream cheese, strawberries - simply amazing, crazy how those flavors work, smoothest roll I've ever had. Say hi to Sam, he's awesome, too!

Walked in, waiter saw us but ignore us. Had to approach someone to take us to the table. First order a beer and first round of all you can eat. I usually eat sushi nigiri. It was not good at all. The rice was bigger than the fish. Giant rice balls. The surf clam and octopus was super rubbery and chewy. Gave the sushi rolls a chance. Tons of filler. Was also not good. Was not angry about the food or service. Just being honest. It was not good. Best part was the beer and music.Try it out if you don't believe me. Sushi is getting pricey. Just trying to save everyone an extra buck.

I ordered the spider roll and the wonton paper paradise roll
First of all none of the pictures I saw demonstrated there would be raw salmon on top. Second the tempura shrimp that goes inside their roll was all tempura and maybe a crumb of shrimp
They over fried the soft shell crab on my other roll
Simply gross, I had to get a refund on the whole order and take my money elsewhere.
Also the rolls were not cut so I the two pieces I did eat I had to struggle to separate them, then after I worked hard to separate them my balls of rice (because the fillings were minuscule) fell apart before I could get them in my mouth.

I never write reviews but that was the worst sushi I've ever had. They clearly cut corners with everything! Way too much rice and imitation crab in the rolls and barely any fish and way too much rice with the sushi too.... and barely any fish. The place is a total rip off!!! The only redeeming quality of the place was the waiter was good.

It used to be my favorite sushi spot before. I went last week. Service was poor, food quality was poor and then I came across their last inpection report as of 4/13/2023 and I felt even worst. Comments as not properly draining the cups and finding water in cups already place in the clean cup area. Black mold like growth on the back deflector board inside the ice machine. It is unacceptable and disgusting.

Been a loyal customer for over 10 years but sadly comes to an end after yesterdays experience. Ordered appetizers and they were soggy and stale. One of the appetizers came out without sauce. Server said sauce was being made. We finished that appetizer 20 minutes later then sauce comes out. Ordered another appetizer for the sauce but never came. Fry cook in back obviously doesn’t know what temperature to fry things in or anything else basic with that job.
Got a cucumber roll. You can tell rice was not freshly made and seaweed wrap soggy as all hell. Got a roll with albacore tuna. I questioned the freshness of tuna to waiter. He assured me it was fresh. It was gray and dry. Wife ate it anyways and got sick later that night. I didn’t eat any thank god. I told an employee my concerns and they said Sundays aren’t good to come. I responded what kind of restaurant claims to have good food except for Sundays?
I’m done with this place. I walked out and gave sushi chefs a thumbs down on the way out. Obviously they don’t know what they’re doing and they serve recycled, stale sushi. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!

Beware the 5 ⭐️ reviews are because they give you “a free drink or ice cream” if you review them in Yelp. They have trashy signs at every table telling you that. If I could give them zero stars I would, food is mediocre at best but the staff is horrible, high servers that have no clue what's going on Gabriel our server was rude and inattentive. We got here at 8:50 and by 9:12 he came and said " if the chef feels like it you can get a second round" when we asked to see the manager, he went up to the other server and said "they are asking to see the person who sat them " and I corrected him and said no we asked to speak to who's in charge and he said that they're all pretty much the same there and there's no manager on duty and he was laughing as we were asking. Here you get rice with a side of fish and the rice tasted really gross. Worst sushi in the IE save your money and go anywhere but here. If a manager sees this I still want to speak to you.
I called the next morning to speak to the manager, and the head chef would not let me speak to the manager. He was equally as disrespectful and rude. This restaurant needs to be shut down.

I’ve been here twice, now for lunch and dinner and I must say that this place is really good. It’s all you can eat and they have a variety of options to choose from. The flavors are amazing and the fish taste absolutely fresh also, the ratio of rice to sushi is on point and never changes as you order more rounds like other place do.

POOR QUALITY, WON’T COME BACK!
First, I’d like to mention that there is a note posted asking customers for yelp reviews in exchange for a free dessert. I hope everyone who posts a good review is genuine and truly had a great experience not just doing so in order to get something free.
It saddens me to see the decline in quality of this place. I remember years ago when the food was so great that I didn’t mind waiting for a table and I even put up with their bad service because of it. We just visited and as it stands today, it is clear that they are cutting corners, they are no longer making the rolls as they are described on the menu, and even worse, their explanation is to simply “come back another day when the other chef is there”.
Hello??? How about training ALL chefs to keep the same standards?! Doesn’t seem that hard. We paid $67 for 2 super small bland rolls and 2 beers and left still hungry. We couldn’t bare to order anything else. I won’t be surprised to see more of these reviews as we heard the staff apologize to at least 3 other tables. Needless to say, we will not go back to this place again.
After leaving here, we found Sumo Sushi on Mountain. We ended up getting 4 regular sized rolls (when you order 3 rolls, they give you the 4th for free) plus a bottle of Sake, ALL FOR $65. We couldn’t finish it all so we ended up with lunch for the next day! Hey, at least our night ended well!

One of the waitresses was so rude to a customer who was one of the most so nice even after she yelled at him about having to pay for what him and his wife didn’t finish from the all you can eat. He was nice and willing to pay for it but wanted it to go and she started yelling at him. Very unprofessional and rude, this guys like I’ll pay no problem and she’s like you have to wait look how many people are here. Service is slow but food is good. I’m not coming back for what And how I saw this waitress act. The guy kept saying no problem I’ll pay for it and the lady kept getting louder. Don’t come here, it happened 6.11.22 around 545 for the owner if you want to check your video. Right in front of the sushi bar.

AYCE use to be $22 now it’s $40 how dumb is that?? You doubled your price! Maybe $30 but $40 ? How many rolls does the average person eat? This restaurant’s “policies” are crazy, they tried to add a tip to the bill without our consent when it’s a table of 5 claiming it’s “restaurant policy” when it was never mentioned to us, or posted around the location, or on the menu. Stopped by yesterday right around the time they opened. Place was empty and we got seated and severed fairly quick. Ordered a salmon skim hand roll and a lunch bento box. Food was delicious and fresh and the service was very attentive. I'd recommend this place if you're in the area and want a quick bite of sushi to eat. Haven't had the ayce but just might go back to try it.

This place really doesn't know how to do business! My 90yo grandma didn't bring her wallet/ID so they wouldn't let us order any sake because the server didn't want us says we might share it her. She's 90 years FFS! The server was also very impolite about it.

I have been visiting this place for years they always have attitude but the food was wow so the attitude was bearable but today was unbelievable the manager or the owner kicked us out because we said we are missing two rolls and she kept asking which ones not knowing what we got and when my husband told her that she should know what we are missing as all the plates where on the table so she could easily tell she stared yelling and took the plates and kicked us out

My husband and I have been patrons of this restaurant for five years; however, after our experience last night we will never return. Upon arriving at 4:30pm we waited 15 min to be greeted, despite the dining room only having 5 full tables. Once our food arrived there were three noticable issues. The first being the Avocado Bomb, the kitchen staff dropped the whole unpeeled avocado into the fryer and served it to us. Then as rolls arrived they were dropped on the table, without naming as the service staff was unable to to identify what they served. Then roll presentation quality did not match the previous visits, including the poor construction of rolls and a missing ingredient in the Strawberry Lemonade roll. When we asked to speak with the manager to let her know about the Avocado Bomb and Strawberry Lemonade roll, she became agitated, shrill, and accused me of being unable to read. Her very loud argument was that every chef makes rolls differently. I told her that as she is the manager I expect her to be professional, and she continued to ask if I could read. This became so uncomfortable that we walked out, and another patron left when we did. They had been seated next to us for 20min without service.
Go to Luxe Buffet instead!

Three stars because the food was awesome, but the service is SERIOUSLY lacking. This may be due to the covid staffing issues many places are facing, but the restaurant was never busy the entire time we were there, and we had to wave someone down every single time we needed anything.

Been going to this place for 10 years and after this last Saturday we will never return. Ever since the old manager left this place went straight down hill. Set ice is beyond awful food is awful now, please save your money and time do not visit this place

Had the Spicy Ramen and Pork Katsu Curry. Everything but the Katsu itself was -- for lack of a better word -- lazy. Not worth even close to the 30 we spent.

We went in for dinner at 6:12pm, all you can eat. Party of 2. We left at 7:45pm. Only thing at our tables was 2 drinks, the free ginger and 2 miso soups. It's Monday, there were 2 other tables seated after us, but they got their food before us. Tired of waiting I asked for the check. As they they brought the check we finally got an order of edemame. Service has been declining over the years, but this was enough. Never coming back again. Completely disappointed.

The eel was not good. All the sushi smelled old and tasted disgusting, even the sake tasted weird. Almost like it was store bought. It was overpriced! Even the chopsticks were ugly and my boyfriend got a dirty glass for his beer. The only thing that was good was the ginger, but their soy sauce was tasteless and watered down. Never again will we come back.

I live in Upland for while here love sushi came here when the 1st open was great and than it was all down hill after that. Now is new owner ship I believe. it was good again now its the worst the menu pictures don't much what you get . You order food don't get everything you order but the have know problem trying to charge you for it. If you don't pay attention.
I will make the longer drive and go to one stop sushi. It's worth the drive.

The food here (sushi I don’t eat the regular menu) is always great. But the service is hit or miss. Woman tonight brought us the wrong salad, wrong entree dish for my dad, and forgot out large sake we never got it. The last 2 times we had these you get servers who were very nice and polite. If you see the red head older woman run my guy. Your order getting butchered.

The special rolls were larger than at most other sushi places, so we were able to share & try each other's dishes. The staff was friendly & extremely attentive. My boys enjoyed the traditional greetings by the sushi chefs!

It was ok, but there are better sushi spots nearby. I didn't like that they didn't come by and ask if I needed a refill on my drink. I had to ask them, and it was towards the end of my meal.

If I could give zero stars I would. Arrived here when they about half full or less and was seated promptly. We then waited around 10-15 to order which is fine. My family ordered sushi and I ordered ramen. I had asked the waitress what was in it beforehand. Sushi arrived and I waited over an hour to receive my ramen while my family ate and after finally asking her she said the chef was working on it. Anticipating it was difficult to make I understood the wait time. An entire hour arrived it was plain instant noodles packet with a halved egg w none of the toppings she had mentioned. I waited over an hour for grocery store ramen noodles. To top it off the cups were dirty and not once were we asked for refills or napkins. Definitely disappointed this time around.

Tango and Fiesta roll paired with Sapporo and nice wait staff makes this place one of my favorites in Upland.

Their menu is huge! They also have photos of the rolls on the menu, which one may forget just how helpful those can be! Also, they currently have a deal where you can buy 3 rolls, and get 1 free (definitely don't know how long this deal will last). I enjoyed the service here, my server was very friendly, I plan on going back for sure.

This place was PHENOMENAL pre-covid.
However, I came with my family for a birthday, and the quality of service has plummeted since I last came before covid. We reserved for 6pm, put in our order at about 6:05-6:10, and so we waited. And we waited, and we waited. My dad and brother were getting impatient, I was telling them its okay, lets wait. 50 minutes goes by, and we stop the waitress to let them know we've been waiting for almost an hour at this point. She immediately apologizes, and we get our sushi within the minutes. Instantly, our sushi comes pouring in, which leads me to believe that they completely forgot about us. Oh well. The food here is amazing, it was before covid, and it still is. The service is lackluster. I would suggest waiting maybe until dining regulations are back to normal to visit here, because right now they don't have their act together.

Great sushi BUT terrible service. I used Grubhub to place the order and when I arrived there at 6:25pm I didn't get my food until 7:10pm. When I first arrived I showed them my Grubhub email for the order and then they ignored me for the next 30 minutes. I got their attention again and only then did they double check with the cooks. After another 15 minutes I was given the order. Three other to-go orders were picked up while I waited and a couple sitting at a table commented on how long Id been there. I'm very disappointed and have no plans to return.

We love the food at this restaurant and would drive quite far to get there. The reason I gave it 2 stars is because they are such a mess. I’m not exaggerating when I say that EVERY time we go there, there’s an issue. The service is horrible. We have not received things, gotten the wrong thing, and waited FOREVER for things. Last night we attended to order online and placed an order through Postmates. We had attempted to call as we couldn’t find something we usually order online but we’re unable to get through. We got notified shortly after that our order had been cancelled. Attempted to call again and still couldn’t get through. We were about to drive 40 minutes and spend $150 on food (much more expensive during covid due to no all you can eat) but decided to turn back and not risk it. I’m hoping this message gets to a manager for this place to get it together. We love your menu but you are losing loyal customers because of how bad the service is. Please work on it!

Well lit, simple reservation system, appropriate wait times, and they call you when they're ready. Doesn't get much easier than that. One thing to note however, due to COVID restrictions, they _do_not_currently_provide_an_all_you_can_eat_ option.

Eventhough the menu is limited, the Food remains tasty, different food dishes are slightly pricey and the patio area where the patrons sit is somewhat convenient.

Still doing dining in even though not allowed, but it is San Bernardino county. The food is pretty consistently good I always order the same 3 rolls. Spicy rainbow, cilantro roll and upland roll. Sometimes they play the music really loud even when there are only a couple of customers.
