If you're in the area stop by here! This place is such a treat and you won't regret popping by for the best sushi of your life. The chef special was to die for and the recommendations of the staff were all thoroughly delightful! It was clear that each and every single morsel was of the highest caliber, freshest ingredients and made with skill and love. We were seated quickly despite it being busy and got drinks and appetizers in a flash. I don't typically do reviews for restaurants these days with infant twins taking my attention but this place was worth the time it took to write about how awesome the experience was.

Fish turned black β unacceptable quality!
I ordered takeout today, but I am extremely disappointed! The moment I opened the package, I noticed that the fish had turned dark and looked far from fresh. Donβt the chefs check the ingredients before slicing? Or is the restaurant deliberately using lower-quality ingredients for takeout orders? This is truly unethical. Such poor-quality food raises serious concerns about hygiene and overall standards, completely failing to meet even the most basic expectations.

We went there for Motherβs Day celebration. We did not wait too long since we have reservation. Host was good. Server was good. Food wait time was way too long for each round even we submitted the order sheet as soon as possible. And every round had some item missing. Server felt sorry for us since he couldnβt control kitchen. Overall the experience wasnβt that good. Fish was fresh and hot item are pretty good.

It was a really good place. we got 2 plates and 2 soft drinks for only 63 bucks, I mean, really, we ate a lot of food like sushi, shrimp, ice cream, steak, strawberry moose, and watermelon. There's also a lot more, but we were just full of food, so we didn't need more.

Amazing experience, we couldnβt even get through three rounds of sushi before we were stuffed! Service was fast and food came out fast so the 90 minute limit was not an issue at all. We were stuffed well before our time was up.
We enjoyed being able to order unlimited appetizers during our meal.
Careful with having too many leftovers, they almost charged us extra for it.

We paid $60 for the AYCE SASHIMI.Compared to other AYCE , I found the selection here very limited and wish the sashimi was a thicker cut. The sashimi was just βokβ. The sushi rolls selection is much better, but it all kinda tastes the same. Nothing special. I really enjoyed the yellowtail collarbone, however, was disappointed that after having ordered only one piece, they told me they were all out. All out at 5:30 Pm ?!? Additionally, the pictured Uni is EXTRA and not included. Disappointing. At $60 , I expected better. On the other hand, we received good service and the ambience was warm. I donβt recommend here if you mainly like sashimi and prefer a big selection to choose from .

Second time to this location, the AYCE quality is still good. Hostess that greets you are nice. Sushi and variety is good. The negative aspect of this location is that it's really small and crammed. When they are busy the servers get overwhelmed, several orders didn't make back to us, including repeated requests.

Awesome place with great quality seafood for an AYCE. they also serve you instead of it being a buffet experience. Which leads me to my next point, the ambience is very chill and laid-back. There is pop and hip-hop, music playing fun and diverse crowd. Service was attentive and they come back often.

Low quality fish. The fish looked and tasted bad. It didnβt go down well. For the basic $40 AYCE I would rather go to a different sushi restaurant and just get quality fish such as Kyoto Sushi.

I absolutely love this place! Every time I visit, I canβt wait to enjoy their amazing sushi. The fish is fresh, and itβs clear that they prioritize quality. One thing that stands out is how perfectly they balance the portions. You get just the right amount of fish and rice, and they never overdo it on the rice like some other places. Itβs simple, straightforward, and always delicious. The menu is easy to follow with instructions. Whether youβre a sushi lover or new to it, this is the spot that hits the spot lol. Highly recommend!

We expected better. Honestly the best food of the night was the cream cheese in my hand roll. The waiter was very nice and tended to us multiple times. For $45 a person it was so disappointing. I shouldve made the drive down to Irvine. I suspect the many good reviews are due to the limited options in the area. We stopped eating after the second round and got other food.
Nigiri we had: scallops, spicy scallops, blue fin tuna, salmon, eel, mackerel, albacore, yellow tail
Thoughts: rice was very bland and crumbly. Somehow the nigiri was dry and not very tender as if it had been sitting out in the open. The fish was very disappointing. I would only recommend the salmon or blue fin tuna if you eat nigiri.
Rolls: baked jen jen, monster, spider
Thoughts: The Monster roll was atrocious. The fried eel on top was so chewy and dry. Inedible. I highly recommend they take that off the menu even the waiter confirmed that that was a common issue with the roll. Spider roll was just mediocre and definitely not fresh.
Handroll: Philadelphia hand roll.
Thoughts: The seaweed in the handroll was soft and chewy by the time it came to our table. It was so difficult to eat.
Izakaya: yellowtail kama, miso soup, baked mussels, fish taco
Thoughts: fish taco was BAD. Yellowtail kama was very good. One of the FEW items I recommend.
Final thoughts: I wish i could get my money back. For two people it was $120 after tax and tip. It was not worth the time and money. 2 starts simply because out waiter was nice.

The flavor of the sushi and rolls was okay. The chefs are going too fast to do a nice job of presentation. The rice wasnβt formed and the fish is very thin and small. You only get to order 3 times in the all you can eat deal. That makes it hard to estimate the amount to order so we got hit with an extra charge for left overs. There wasnβt good service for bringing drinks. I asked 4 times for a second sake bottle before it came out. I really did not enjoy the experience here.

Delicious sushi and fair price for the quality. The sushi tasted fresh and very flavorful. The service was good a little slow at times but they were busy so completely understandable. I liked the sashimi especially the blue fin tuna!! Omg it was such clean protein. The food was great I enjoyed the rolls. The rice tasted a bit hard (I think it was day old rice) but l still enjoyed the meal. The hand rolls were my favorite and I loved the scallops. Sold 4 out of 5 stars good job guys I will be back with friends.

Went here with my significant other for my birthday. The food was delicious but overall the service was very poor. The 1st half, our waiter we had was extremely nice and respectful - always checking in on our orders and if we needed anything else.
As we got to the later half of our dinner, we had a new waiter who did not look like she wanted to be there or work at all. She was very rude and snappy. She gave us a wrong dish that we did not ordered and claimed that it was correct. Even our 2nd row/rounds were already crossed off even though we were still missing half of our orders. The waitress took a solid minute to look at the menu paper and proceeded to walk away without saying a word or any transparency.
I would love to come back but the customer service was not it.

Iβm not gonna lie it just felt kinda weird to eat here. It was like the staff hated to be there and no one was smiling or having a good time, staff or customers. The rolls were some of the best Iβve had but the nigiri was just alright even though we paid for the premium salmon. They also donβt accept Amex which was the cherry on top. I came here with my girl because we couldnβt eat at our usual favorite spot Tomikawa. I would eat here again as a last resort but itβs nowhere near the top of my list. Itβs also really expensive for what you get.

The place was full when we arrived. We went on the waitlist, and once we received a notification that our table was ready, we had to wait longer by the door. This meant that my group [5 people] was in the way of the entrance with 2 other parties waiting with us at a small corner.
Although the food tasted great and created conversations within my group, we had more to say about the wait time for each round of sushi. A very disappointing $200 experience, we wouldn't have been able to get through our first round within the 90-minute time limit if they stuck to that rule.
Within 3 hours, our patience managed to get us 2 rounds of sushi.

Been here several times and they recently changed the price and options. It didn't really have an effect on the overall experience. The last time I went was over 6 months ago. Also, I haven't been but there is another location up north.
Food: by far the best sushi you can buy in California so far. I have had sushi from the mother land so that's saying something (>3). I don't like it when Americans make very specific food American when it's ment to stand out and this place does not do that.
Service & Atmosphere: That being said, the restaurant give you a kind of club vibe but it's not too abrasive. Needless to say, this restaurant is not a traditional Japanese anything. The combination of Japanese ingenuity and American style make it a great experience. Japanese restaurants use a electronic system often to gram the attention of the waiters. Here, they use a card system which fits the bill for Japans style of management. Make sure you are not waiting unnecessarily. FILP THE CARD TO GREEN!
Prep notes: Don't show up out of the blue, call ahead of time because they are a bit small. They do have a waiting system in place but it isn't super robust IMO.
Get the basic option unless your super picky about the meat choices. 50$~

Soβ¦. We saw an add on IG/FB and decided we would make the drive (Norco) out and see how they are. After making a reservation, getting there 10 min early, we sat down 40 min later. Only to find that the Sashimi was an up charge onto of an up charge. We decided to try the Premium menu, the food was definitely not βPremiumβ (quite literally reminds me of Grocery store/pre cut general, mid at best) in quality as well as it took 35 min for the first order to get to the table and over an hour for the last. 2 hrs and 45 min later we walked away disappointed and hungry as we werenβt going to try for round 3. Aside from that the booth dividers were dirty, some were broken and others were poorly repaired. The seats had tears and after sitting in 1 for 2 hours our bottoms were sore. They had 6 ceiling fans, only 4 work and thereβs a giant mural thatβs lit with blue light that looks odd, then thereβs a bar area thatβs been neglected and used as a storage area which is just sad as they advertise drinks on the menuβ¦. That they couldnβt make! On the positive side, their staff was very nice and apologetic, but there was no compensation when it came to performance which only added to the disengagement for future visits. Sadly, itβs got what looks like a good foundation with a manager/owner that is trying to cut 1 too many corners leading to a truly un-inviting environment and experience. If youβve gone this far, check out Sushi 1 Spot in Montclair as that is my go to when looking for good quality AYCE. Make it a great day! Cheers.

A very nice AYCE place that offers omakase grade fish at $60 per person. If youβre in for that grade then I think itβs worth it because omakase would cost around $100-300. Quite an enjoyable AYCE experience. We did the premium AYCE which included Bluefin Tuna & Premium Omakase-Grade Cuts since on a weekend for dinner, it was only a $5 premium per person. Still reasonably priced at $45 per person considering the wide variety of dishes that you can order off the menu and brought to your table. Extremely fast service and we never had to wait more than a few minutes. The neck collars were delicious and highly recommend. I would be careful not to order too many rolls, I like their non-sushi items the most like cheese mussels, seaweed salad, and sticking with their omakase grade salmon/tuna.

Came here on a Friday with a 5:30 reservation with my brother. Booked the reservation at 11am on the same day and I'm glad we did because there was an endless stream of people coming into the restaurant the whole time. I passed by and tried to come once before, but it was so crowded without getting on the waitlist!
The store is a bit smaller than I thought. I really dig the blacklight paintings. We chose the Choice menu at $40 per person.
I like that they give you a pencil, paper, and clear instructions to order! We chose the Choice option.
We got an assortment of nigiri, izakaya, Aloha roll, and Dragon roll. The rice ratio was good! Not too much, perfect for a bite. I'd recommend the spicy scallop, yellowtail, and squid (which was sweet in flavor). The tuna and salmon tended to be leaner, less fatty so more chewy. The ikura was smaller than most I've had. The Cherry Blossom was insanely loaded with rice, like 80% rice and 20% topping which was ridiculous. Wouldn't recommend that.
In addition to those, we also got the salmon collar, sashimi salad, crispy, rice, yummy crunch, and vegetable tempura. their tempura batter was crispy and thin, just how I liked it. These are all good options for izakaya. I wish they had skewers.
The alcohol was reasonably priced. The cocktails are beautiful and unique. My brother loved his lychee martini!
The service was friendly. I liked the colored signs since it was always easy to flag someone down.
Overall, it was a cool experience, but with the plethora of options for AYCE in SoCal, I've had better and am okay just trying this once.

This restaurant has three tiers for AYCE: a regular one that's about $33, a premium one for $45 that includes Bluefin tuna, and a Premium+sashimi own that includes AYCE sashimi. Overall the experience here was great. Their yellowtail and bluefin was delicious but none of the other cuts of fish stood out. Also, their premium offerings are much less than other premium AYCE sushi options around SoCal but it's still nice to have this option in this part of OC.

I visited here for the first time today on June 11th 2024, and I decided to get the 45 dollar AYCE.
Service: 2 star
-The restaurant was not even half full, and with a busser, two servers, and a host, things were going way too slow. I had to call someone multiple times to get orders rolling, and I had to ask multiple times to get my appetizers, only to be told later on that they were "out".
Food: 1 star
-Nigiri was VERY VERY poorly made. Rice was disintegrating, wasn't formed at all, and looked like a six year old made it. Also, 3 sushi chefs and it took 15+ minute each time to get... 5-6 pieces of Nigiri to my table, each time. I ordered some appetizers, Takoyaki and Baked Mussels. Takoyaki was bland, cold, and feels like it was taken out of a frozen bag and microwaved for 30 seconds, also there was so little sauce on it that it felt like I was eating raw flour mixture.
Baked Mussels... oh boy.. This thing was beyond repulsive. It wasn't cooked properly, and way too big for an appetizer. It also tasted very stale, and I couldn't bring myself to finish it. I ended up sending it back and told them to not bothering make me a replacement.
The people who worked here looked miserable and didn't want to be there. It took way too long to get simple things, and no one was even remotely close to being attentive. Table was dirty, and I had to wait 10 minutes just to get soy sauce on my table.
It was the most unpleasant experience I've had with a sushi restaurant so far. I've had better experience dining at a fast food sushi restaurants with a sleepy high schooler acting as the cashier+host.
Dear owner(s), if you are reading this, please note that I am not writing this review in attempts to get compensation or free food (as I made it clear to my host when I was complaining) . I was so beyond disgusted that I felt compelled to write this review. Please train your staff and back house properly. My experience at this establishment was just dreadful and pathetic. I generally leave minimum 20% of my check as tip, even up to 50% if the dining experience is good, but at this establishment, I left 0%. Even a pity 5 dollar tip seemed undeserved.
Needless to say, I will not be back. If their service is this pathetic and poor at down times of the day, I do not even want to imagine how bad it must get during dinner time.

Rude service. Staff will NOT even say "hi" to you or anything as you wait in lobby EVEN when there is a few tables available. Please see Yelp reviews and Google 1- star reviews. One of my favorite AYCE places so far!
i paid for the premium $45 one as opposed to the lower tier $38 option and i think it was worth it?
most of the salmon was nice and marbled. tasted quite fresh and creamy. the tuna was decent as well, although it was interesting that it wasn't that red and it was already sauced...
a lot of little random things went wrong however which kept interrupting our dinner so that was unfortunate. for example, wrong orders coming out to our table

Sushi Damu presents a delectable array of sushi that tantalizes the taste buds with fresh, melt-in-your-mouth goodness. Each piece is expertly crafted, showcasing the skill and dedication of the chefs. However, the dining experience is marred by lackluster service, with slow and inattentive staff detracting from the enjoyment. The atmosphere, while not unpleasant, could benefit from enhancements to create a more inviting and cohesive dining environment. Despite these shortcomings, the sushi at Sushi Damu remains a standout, making it a worthy destination for sushi aficionados willing to overlook minor drawbacks for exceptional flavors.

Very this current generation type of feel and ambience. Not a fan of the service. The girl host at the front didnβt seem like she wanted to be there nor def she doesnβt like repeating the explanation of the menu. The fish was not the freshest experience. The sashimi price is not worth the cost tbh. You can order a sashimi platter fresh somewhere else for less.

I had the displeasure of ordering takeout from Sushi Damu a few nights ago. The place was not very crowded around 9:15 on a Saturday evening, and our order wasn't very complicated (several rolls and a few hot items, the chicken teriyaki and the sesame karage).
When I asked if the order was ready, I was told yes and given the bag that should have had all of the food in it. However upon getting back, we noticed that the hot items were missing from the order.
As we were in a hurry and had an itinerary for the evening, we did not have time to return to the restaurant.
As noticed in the receipt photo, the restaurant claimed upon giving me the bag that the chicken teriyaki was included, and one can also see from the photo that the sesame chicken was not even marked off.
I went to the restaurant to ask for the two items to be refunded, and was told that it was MY FAULT for not answering their phone calls at 10:45-11PM notifying me about the food. Furthermore, they didn't offer me a credit or any kind of thing to make the situation right. I was offered at best a single roll of sushi, and I ended up walking out with nothing.
I will never order from this place again, and given how they treat customers when THEY the restaurant make a mistake, I'd recommend you don't either.
Also, the sushi was mediocre and overpriced, taste-wise!

Disappointing Experience at Damu: Great Food Marred by Poor Service
As a dedicated Google reviewer and food blogger, I was eager to share my experience at Damu, a renowned sushi spot in town. Having visited for the second time, my expectations were high for both service and cuisine. Opting for the premium package priced at $45, I anticipated a delightful dining affair.
On the culinary front, Damu did not disappoint. The quality of the food was commendable, meeting the standards I had heard so much about. However, my dining experience took a sour turn due to several shortcomings in service.
Firstly, the pace of service was disappointingly slow. But what truly soured the experience was the demeanor of our server. Throughout the meal, her attitude was unwelcoming, and every request felt like an inconvenience. This lack of hospitality detracted significantly from what could have been an enjoyable evening.
To compound matters, we were unaware of the restaurant's strict 1.5-hour seating limit, a detail not communicated to us upon arrival. Imagine our surprise when, after an hour and a half of dining, we were abruptly informed by our server that our time was up, and we were expected to settle the bill and vacate our seats immediately. This abruptness left us feeling rushed and unwelcome, with the added frustration of having to pay for uneaten food due to the time constraint.
Seeking clarification, we addressed our concerns with the manager regarding both the restaurant's policies and the server's demeanor. Unfortunately, the manager's response was disappointingly dismissive, offering only to speak with the server without addressing our broader concerns. To add insult to injury, the same server handled our bill, further highlighting the lack of accountability within the establishment.
In summary, while Damu impresses with its culinary offerings and inviting ambiance, the poor service detracts significantly from the overall dining experience. My ratings reflect this sentiment: Food receives a modest 2 out of 5, the atmosphere earns a respectable 4 out of 5, but service, unfortunately, garners a dismal 0 out of 5.
In conclusion, while Damu may excel in certain aspects, potential patrons should be wary of the inconsistencies in service that mar an otherwise promising establishment.

Team came here for post christmas celebration and we tried plenty of the dishes! Everything we ordered tasted fresh and not fishy taste or smell. My favorites were the salmon skin hand roll, craw me daddy baked roll, baked mussels, and the unagi nigri! Definitely worth it going as a bunch of guys who can chow down and go a few rounds lol!

Gas station quality sushi.
I got blue fin tuna and salmon sushi
Blue fin tasted fishy and was dry.
I got my wife chicken teriyaki bowl because she is pregnant and can't eat fish.
My sushi was super thin.
What a massive disappointment for dropping 80$ .
The picture provided was 35-40$ worth of food.
Does that look like 40$ to you ?
I felt bad for my wife's teriyaki bowl. The chicken was overcooked and tasted like they reheated trader Joe's chicken bowl.
This was a massive disappointment. I forewarn anyone reading this to just go to the taco bell down the road.

This place has a really great AYCE selection, tons of options. Service was good, the atmosphere was a bit aggressive for a Sunday afternoon, kind of club vibes. That being said, Iβm currently pregnant and didnβt eat any actual sushi but my husband did and his stomach was really really messed up from it, so I question the quality. We probably wonβt return. Also, I ordered a roll that was deep fried thinking the fish would be cooked, it was still very raw and we had to send it back because I canβt eat raw fish. They charged us $17 for the roll but didnβt bother to tell us that.

First time ordering from Sushi Damu. I had the Coconut Shrimp and Aloha Fire. The Aloha Fire was very hot. I love heat but this was a bit much. The Coconut Shrimp was tempura inside of the roll and had great flavor. Everyone I encountered was very friendly. The ambiance of the restaurant was enjoyable. Next time I'll dine in. :)

Good food and great selection, everything was delicious. This is our go-to spot for ayce sushi. Katelyn our server was very friendly and provided excellent service.

We came here for their AYCE (they have three tiers) and had their mid tier premium which was $40 a person. Overall food quality was really good and the service was excellent! We were able to reserve a spot on a Friday night so there was little to no wait which is exceptional for OC. I would come back here for sure.

I was there yesterday April 17, I'm not sure if I went on the wrong day with the or it's always this bad!! This restaurant is one of the worst I ever been. The albacore and tuna Sushi were so thin, dry. It wasn't fresh. I'm disappointed I was expecting better quality of fish. I'm not coming back.

lots of sushi at a decent price, and it comes with appetizers. my server Zanna was awesome, she got me a massive plate of pickled red onions when requested!

Be conservative on your orders. You are charged full price for uneaten rolls. Get the premium and order the sashimi to really get your money worth. Appetitizers are included in the all you can eat. Be aware that they brought out 2 of everything we ordered!! We had a party of 2, my husband and I. We wrote 1 next to selections and were brought 2 of each roll! Needless to say we over ate and we're sickeningly stuffed! The sushi is really good- the ex girlfriend was our favorite. The baked mussels are amazing. The chef started our night with a small app- two pieces of something really delicious that we were told is not on the menu. It started out great but we just got way too much sushi! Be aware I think they bring out a roll for each member of the party. Please clarify this information before you submit the first round order! It would have been nice if someone had explained this to us.

I revisited Sushi Damu recently and was impressed this time. They offer an all-you-can-eat sushi experience with varying price points, maxing out at around $40 per person, which I found to be well worth it. The dining experience includes three rounds for selecting your choices. Their appetizer selection is diverse, featuring options like spicy edamame, miso soup, fried calamari, and shrimp tempura. Appetizer orders are placed directly with your host, while for other items such as sashimi, sushi, and special rolls, you simply mark your choices on a paper with a pencil. Each round allows for a maximum of five items per order. I particularly enjoyed their calamari and baked mussels, and would highly recommend the smoked salmon, eel, and salmon roll. Despite being unable to sample more due to feeling full, I look forward to trying additional items on my next visit and updating this review accordingly. The staff were accommodating and friendly, and the ambiance is perfect for various occasions, including romantic dates, anniversaries, or birthday celebrations.

I was utterly disappointed. I made reservations at a certain time and I stood there for 45 minutes until we got a table. I am okay with waiting, but why even put the option of having a reservation if we just stand there for 45 minutes? It would be better if the staff actually told me the truth and said that. "Okay we have no tables now, but we will text you when we have something open" instead they lie to me and say, " please wait a few more minutes". Overall horrendous experience, and I will never go back again but instead go to Tomikawa in Tustin, CA.

Pricier than the usual sushi ayce joints around here. We went in for premium menu, and the lack of sashimi is a pretty bad deal breaker considering the rice is quite a bit on everything else. Need to shell out $60 for sashimi.
Service was pretty lackluster, and nearly everything was on the sweeter side which was a bit weird.

Place was packed at 1:30pm on a Friday - good signs. We did the AYCE for $45 each. Food was a little disappointing. The sashimi were small and rice was not sushi rice when picked up it fell apart and stuck on the plates. Another party of ours sat st different table and ordered some cooked rolls which they said were good.
Parking is hard to find btw!

Katelyn was great and helped accommodate all our orders, unlimited bluefin is the best, wish the heater was used outside to help with the wait since it was cold. The wait time for the 2nd and 3rd round was really long, and our order got messed up as well, but glad our server was ready to try and fix it
