An Edomae-style sushi restaurant that transports guests to Tokyo through a myriad of carefully considered details. Offering an intimate 14-seat experience, the restaurant is named after the Japanese term for “chef’s choice” and is centered around the chef’s counter.
“The restaurant offers an elegant ambiance and exquisite dishes, truly living up to its Michelin reputation! A special thanks to Jonathan for his outstanding service—he provided a professional introduction to the characteristics of each sake, showcasing incredible expertise. I also deeply appreciated how the team accommodated my mushroom allergy with such care and consideration. This level of attentiveness made the entire dining experience absolutely exceptional. Highly recommended!”

Nigiri were good, especially Monk fish and parts of tuna. But I don't feel that the difference between good and great worth it. Their wine by glass list is mediocre. Sake selection is good but, of course, overpriced. The chief was proficient and knowledgeable. The place did not feel high(est) end. Part of this is that it's connected with a regular sushi establishment.

Every course was perfectly paced, showcasing the freshest ingredients and creative flavor combinations that delighted the palate.

MUST visit omakase restaurant in San Francisco!
This is a perfect omakase restaurant that deserves a rating higher than five stars. Our chef is incredibly passionate and friendly, and the service staff are also very accommodating. The overall dining atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing.
Everything was handled perfectly and the seasoning of seafood, allowed us to taste the natural sweetness of the ingredients.
It's a truly amazing dining experience! Would definitely revisit again!

Our first time at Omakase was such a treat! Big shout-out to Chef Jackson for the hospitality. The sake pairing is a must, the rarer sakes pair so well with the Omakase, and enhance the already great experience.
Each individual nigiri was well thought out, the order in which they served the nigiri and brought out the sake allows you to enjoy the unique flavors of each fish.
Having Chef Kaoru elevated our experience to the next level, he was kind, knowledgeable, and very funny! The service was immaculate as the servers did a great job explaining the intricacies of each sake as well as making sure we were comfortable.
If you have the time while visiting SF, Omakase is a must.

Upon entering I felt mislead by the servers when it came to requesting water. I was asked if I wanted still or San Francisco’s finest. Not knowing San Francisco’s finest was tap water, I said still and was charged $15. Whatever, just didn’t expect a high-end restaurant with a Michelin star to use deceptive tactics like this to upsell. A little disappointing.
Their Omakase was just okay. Mainly nigiri was served and I felt like the other courses/dishes lacked innovation. Chef Kaoru was super nice and interactive, probably the highlight of our dining experience.

Keine vegetarischen Alternativen.

Chef Jackson and his team were all incredible! This was my first omakase experience, and it will not be my last. My friend brought me for a special birthday dinner, and everyone attended to every detail to make it a perfect and fabulous evening! The food was INCREDIBLE. This place is such a special treat, I hope everyone can experience it in their lifetime. Every dish was so beautifully crafted, with incredible balance of flavors and textures. The sake pairing was very fun to enjoy all the different bottles and beautiful glassware.

Omakase is everything we had expected it to be and so much more!
I don't want to give away the menu, but from the moment we entered the front door to the moment we left I couldn't have been happier with how things went.
My favorite part: Omakase is a restaurant that wasn't focusing on earning a Michelin Star 4 just focus on providing the best food & beverage they can and it happened to result in recognition from the biggest group in the culinary world.
Thank you so much Omakase team!I

Wasn't impressed with our dinning experience. While the food was nice it wasn't incredible. For the cost, which ended up being 8 hundred dollars for just two of us, it was definitely not worth it. The fish was good but not stunning. The fried shrimp heads had little taste. We've had much better sushi at much lower cost. They add a 20 percent service charge on top so you don't have a choice on tipping. The Chef was cordial as well as the waitress. I have had much better food at the local sushi restaurant around the corner from us. Oh, the Wasabi was really nice.... Just a huge disappointment. Basically paid 800 for 10 pieces of sushi. We did get a bottle of Saki which cost 120 bucks. The atmosphere is dull and there were only two other diners when we were there, which was probably just due to the early time we dined. We are foodies and love great dinning but we left there kinda frustrated that we spent that much money for a meal that should have been spectacular. The sister restaurant next door is much better, we've been there numerous times and highly recommend it. But not Omakase. We don't like posting negative reviews but we were very disappointed.

Went there for a birthday, it was one of the worst experiences and the most pretentious and fake food I have ever had in my life. There was a waiter who had an attitude throughout the night which made experience much worse. She even broke the plate in front of customers, where one of the chef responded as again? The chefs cut fish the wrong way and was getting training during the dinner, they touch one fish after another without wiping hands, no explanations on what's being served other than mispronounced fish names. A simple egg omelet was burnt and miso soup inedible. They are charging premium ($700 for 2people) for hypothetical branding not for authentic quality food or experience. For birthday all they did was a candle on an empty plate, it felt embarrassing and sad. I will never be returning and I will do the birthday again just to make up for this horrific even.

I never write negative reviews but this is my exception. Do NOT make a prepaid reservation with these people. They don’t care if you get sick and need to reschedule - they will take your money and ignore you. In my case, they took $990 for my graduation dinner. It is illegal to not provide the goods or services you’ve been paid to provide. I’ve had to file a dispute and reported them to California Department of Consumer Affairs. This could’ve been so simple - just reschedule or credit for a future dinner. It isn’t that hard to be nice to people.

Intimate atmosphere with chefs-counter-only seating. Each course was simple yet inspired, and so fresh. The menu is obviously set (though you were offered the opportunity to order more at the end if you wish.)
We were served several fish I had never before tried along with some favorites-turned-upscale like three courses of tuna nigiri, with increasing fattiness, lightly seared wagyu and the lightest, airiest tamago with a delicate crispy top.
The sake pairing portions were big enough to share, which is very good because otherwise I wouldn’t have been conscious by the third course. But each is paired very well, served and explained by a sake specialist and worth any hangover, should it come to that.
Okmakase is a bit on the spendier side but absolutely worth saving up for. Cannot wait to return. Much thanks to the staff for a lovely night and overall experience.

So my cousin and I went here for my birthday dinner. The experience was great. We were wonderfully over dressed so we definitely made a night of it. The sake paring was amazing - over indulgent but amazing. And, the environment was quiet, chill and the service was enjoyable. We didn’t regret spending several hundred dollars at the end of the evening, so I’d say that it’s 5 star!

Mid, Basic, and could be waybetter for the price: The server and chef were awesome. Great vibe and comfortable. The music was a nice instrumental of pop, rap and r&b music. There were so many courses, that you should come with an empty stomach. You will not leave hungry. However the dishes were just so so. Nothing to write home about. Nothing instagram worthy. Three of the nigiri tastings were great and the desert was awesome but the lion share of the food was basic. However, to pay 600 plus for two including taxes and no beverages was steep for what I tasted and experienced. It pales in comparison to Nori Fish near to Atlanta. See that review for details.

My dining experience at Omakase in San Francisco was truly unforgettable. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was transported into a world of culinary excellence. The intimate setting and minimalist decor set the stage for what was to come – a culinary journey that surpassed all expectations.
The omakase menu, a chef's tasting menu where the chef selects each dish, was a symphony of flavors and textures that danced on my palate. Each course was a work of art, meticulously crafted with the freshest ingredients. The sushi, in particular, was a revelation. The fish melted in my mouth, and the rice was perfectly seasoned. The chef's creativity shone through in every bite, as I savored exotic ingredients and unique combinations that I had never experienced before.
The service at Omakase was impeccable. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and passionate about the cuisine they were serving. They took the time to explain each dish, its origins, and the techniques used to prepare it. It was evident that they took great pride in their craft.
What truly set Omakase apart was the chef's personal touch. The chef throughout the meal explained the inspiration behind each course and to ensure that we were enjoying our dining experience. This level of interaction made the meal feel like a genuine connection with the chef and added an extra layer of appreciation to the food.
In the end, dining at Omakase in San Francisco was not just a meal; it was a culinary journey, an artful experience, and a memory that will stay with me for a lifetime. If you have the opportunity to dine at Omakase, I highly recommend it. It's not just a restaurant; it's an extraordinary dining adventure that will redefine your expectations of fine cuisine.

This restaurant was recommended to me by a local friend. My coworkers and I were in town for a conference and were looking for a place to have a team dinner. The food, service, and staff at Omakase were phenomenal and I would definitely go back. They have a great selection of sake as well. Our Uber driver even raved about them during our ride back from the restaurant to our hotel.

I had an incredibly disappointing experience at this restaurant, primarily due to the unprofessional behavior of Chef Jackson Yu. He spoke out with CRUDE and INAPPROPRIATE "jokes" in Chinese, which were offensive humor, without any regard for our discomfort!Additionally, he repeatedly made mistakes with our orders, mistakenly giving us their O-Toro meant for other guests while they were using the restroom, and playing tricks on them who were not paying attention by switching their food. Moreover, Jackson transferred my Masaba to them without asking. Despite our clear indications that we were full, he continued to push more sushi in front of me, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere. To make matters worse, he seemed intoxicated, reeked of alcohol, and invaded our space while bidding us farewell. Chef Jackson's lack of professionalism and disrespectful demeanor made this dining experience one of the worst I've encountered, and I strongly discourage anyone from dining at this restaurant.

Perfect date night spot. Intimate setting with a friendly and welcoming vibe. Chefs so willing to impart their knowledge around where ingredients are from, how best to eat a dish etc. Lots of delicious uni which we appreciated! Most delectable fish was a flames Wagu with uni, 24 carrot gold flakes and truffle.

I would be lying if I said I could recite back all the kinds of fish that were served in our 22-course meal or how they were prepared-that's why I took a picture of the menu (it's posted here in Google Maps) to remind us what we ate (my wife and I went for our wedding anniversary).
We frequently eat "regular" sushi (sashimi, nigiri, rolls), and I can say the fish served are probably nothing like you have eaten. I posted photos of each of the 22 courses.
Despite most seats being at the bar itself where the chefs prepare the food, we chose to make a reservation at one of two tables just off to the side for some privacy. Anyway, you're not at all far from the bar, so you can just as easy observe the chefd preparing your courses.

Totally lackluster experience; arrogant chef. The restaurant delivers an entirely unmemorable meal, with a few modest starters followed by nine courses of nigiri, all of which taste mostly of a soy-sauce infused rice rather than the fish that is meant to be the star. Also, they don't tell you when you book that your already expensive bill comes in addition with a 20 percent mandatory tip and a 5 percent 'city tax', and there is no option to cancel or change after the booking. They even bill your credit card the moment you reserve. The chef talks a lot about himself rather than paying attention to customers. Didn't greet us on the way in or out. $650 dollars for two base price and the worst Omakase experience ever (and we've had them across the USA and throughout Asia). Just go to your favorite local sushi spot and you'll be happier and wealthier. Oh yeah, and they served my wife a dish containing a item that she was allergic to--despite our advanced notification and their confirmation. Guess they don't really care if they send someone to the hospital.

We made a reservation about a month in advance, but had to reschedule about a day and a half before the scheduled date and Omakase was accommodating even though they usually have a 48 hour minimum reschedule notice. Arriving at the restaurant, we were immediately greeted by a nice lady who immediately sat us down. We were the only party dining that night that made the experience very special and we had some great conversation with the chef and the lady.
Atmosphere:
Relaxed with some background music.

This was our first time at Omakase and everything about the experience was amazing. The menu was excellent: we enjoyed every course, especially the sashimi. We purchased one sake pairing which was enough for the two of us. Our sake queen Amy did an excellent job with the pairings as each sake added to the food we were eating. All in all I would highly recommend Omakase, whether for a special occasion or just a night out!

Overall, I wouldn’t highly recommend this place but would I go back again? Yes, if only someone else was paying for it lol. I guess I had some high standards since I had my first Michelin star Omakase experience at The Shota.
In comparison to both restaurants, the service and presentation could’ve been better. I order $130 sake and nobody came around to refill my glass and at one point when I asked for a second bottle, the server never brought out my sake and by the time I asked about it, I was already nearing the end of my meal.
As for coming by to clean up your table, they never came by to pick up the mini used hand towels so I had to awkwardly move it to the side of my placemat and it was quite a sore eye. They also forgot to bring out the ginger for my side of the table and even at one point, another guest had to ask for it and it wasn’t until then did the chef realized the rest of us didn’t get it either.
Now on to the presentation. Some of dishes that came out did not have much garnishes and at one point my shrimp fell apart and was sloppy. I didn’t even get a whole shrimp but two broken pieces that were slapped on together.
However the fish quality was decent. But I wasn’t super impressed with the dining experience, especially as it was suppose to be a celebratory bday dinner.

Authentic edomae sushi. Tuna today was farm raised in Kyoto, Japan. Tasted still much better than Spanish tuna. Other neta were great. Chef made shari from mainly from red vinegar and it was not sweet but the right amount of dryness. I liked the combination of shari amount, tightness and red vinegar. Only menu I do not like was wagyu sushi, and I do not think this matches well with pure edomae sushi! But this issue, all other dishes were well prepared and enjoyed omakase here. I will definitely back again when I visit SF!

An amazing delicious meal coordinated and executed with precision. Well deserving of its one Michelin star title. Impeccable service that starts from the beginning of service to the end. From being seated to orders being taken every step of the way. Plenty of food but not an overwhelming amount of food.
Chefs were friendly and explained every item as it was being presented. Being seated at the bar meant an up-close look at things being broiled with a torch mere feet away. Food being served seconds after it was ready.
The menu from the evening I dined was:
A delicious lavender infused yuzu with sparkling sake
Kegani topped with Uni and caviar
Steamed Amadai with Dashi Broth
Hon Maguro, Managatsuo & Cold Smoked Kanpachi
Savory Soft Bag Custard with Japanese Snow Crab & Summer Truffle
Plating to be determined by the Chef
Scallop
Barracuda
Tiger Prawn
Golden Eye Snapper
Marinated Fatty Tuna
Horse Mackerel
Blackthroat Seaperch
Fatty Tuna
Saltwater Eel
Hokkaido Sea Urchin
A5 Wagyu from Bushu
Lobster Atsuyaki Tamago
Asari Akadashi Red Miso with Asari Clams & Mitsuba
Miso Panna Cotta, Yuzu Granita, & Seasonal Fruit for dessert.

Another wonderful night at Omakase. Every time walked in this special and unique restaurant, I’m excited and full filled with high expectations as always lol yes, I expect chefs would bring me and my friends a good , nice and fantastic experience! As always, every piece of sushi 🍣 is a piece of art , bite sized with full tasty which satisfies my tongue and stomach completely.
More funny is that I’m actually Still not a big sushi lover even with more than 2 years sashimi sushi tasting course during pandemic ; however, I’m willing and love trying every piece of nigiri that served here! Take a bite of a tender juicy piece food and take a big sip of cold pure fresh Japanese sake ! This time, because of the special bottle, gave me an even more awesome memorable dining experience which all released my entire week of stress and thankful to all the enjoyment from chefs and waiters waitresses that they care about every small detail of me and my friends to ensure we could enjoyed the most fun and food and drinks!! Only here @ Omakase San Francisco 🥲😊🍣🍣 🍶We will be back soon 😂

For Omakase, the number of stars are pointless in surmising what it may be. Stars are for organizing the everyday norms in a comprehensible scale but Omakase simply exists in a different dimension. It's an experience for sure, composed of food made with love, care, and discipline. It's a form of culinary art and philosophy that you get through each course, each piece, and within each layer of flavor. Our chef was Jackson-san and despite his bountiful smile and playful comments, his hands were tirelessly creating the next sequel. He was definitely a master story-teller.
Let's talk about the sushi. All great sushi starts with fresh, high quality fish. Omakase is no different here, importing them directly from Japan. Now next is the cut. It has to be just thick enough to balance the rice but with cuts to form the curvature as well as capture the soy sauce and other garnish. Check. And this is where Omakase starts to really differentiate. In front of your eyes, each piece becomes a mini story of its own. It has layers of flavors that expose itself as you let it melt in your mouth, starting from the outer garnish (whether searing, soy sauce, salt, wasabi, etc.) to then the main fish ingredient (so many types of fish and wagyu here) to the finish with unobtrusive, yet hearty rice. You receive each piece with your fingers, close your eyes, and let the story play out in your mouth. Each making your reminisce, each making you anticipate the sequel.
Here are some memorable courses (although no words can describe what was happening in my mouth).
Ama Ebi with Uni Sauce - the sweet shrimp is lightly cooked to form a structure that dances on ground uni - Ikura adds the pizzazz.
Egg Custard with Summer Truffles - the snowcrab and truffles come together on a hearty smooth and soft egg that is simply wonderful!
Hotate - a very down-to-earth scallop, basic, and smooth to prepare your tastebuds for the sushi saga - it is so simple yet so disciplined.
ZukeToro - fattiness is well seeped into the smooth texture but it is balanced with the firm nori and onions - the nori in the outer layer initially comes across crass but as it unfolds, it lays out the tuna in its dry trail.
Aji - mackarels are very difficult to get it right, the smell and texture both can feel "off", yet this comes across with a gentle firmness and sweet soft symphony.
O-Toro - amazing fish with the fattiness balanced with caviar - chef cuts it thicker than others with a horizontal lining and wraps the rice in a manner where the fat layers are easy to be bitten off - pure magic.
Anago - now this eel is special as it isn't grilled with the full sauce which tends to overpower the ingredient - the eel is gently tendered while the fish bone ground sauce is later applied as a thin layer on top - never had such savory and tasty eel before.
A5 Wagyu - the meat is seared perfectly with criss-cross cuts, wasbi, onion garnish, and gold flakes top it off - this is literally heaven in your mouth.
Miso Panna Cotta with Yuzu Granita - the magic is with the miso-infused panna cotta as it adds a gentle savory saltiness that brings out the sweet flavor - the genius is adding the fruit and citrus so that each scoop can be complemented in a different way - the Yuzu granita is simply black magic where ice is shaved so finely that it stops being ice.
From the freshly ground wasabi, to the intentionally prepared cuts on the fish, to the discipline and structure shown alongside the friendly smiles, Omakase is an experience to be had. The chef and the lovely family next to us celebrating their son's birthday just made the entire journey even better. We genuinely enjoyed our time there and look forward to coming back time after time.

Considering the price we paid for this Michelin star meal, I would've expected a better experience. My partner and I came here for a special anniversary dinner, and it was completely disappointing. While some dishes stood out, others not so much, but the thing that made the entire experience horrible was the volume that came from other people in the restaurant.
This is a tiny restaurant, that only has 2 dinner seating times, for about a dozen guests. There were multiple groups of guests sitting at the bar, getting louder and louder, and drunker and drunker as the night went on. They were so loud that we couldn't hear what our waitresses were saying to us, despite the fact they were standing about 6 inches away from our table. Not only could I not even hear my partner, who only sat about 2 feet away from me at the tiny table in the corner of the restaurant, we stopped trying to have a conversation altogether because we were being screamed over by about half a dozen drunk people at the bar. To top it all off, I saw one of the chefs allowing one of the drunk/loud guests to go behind the bar and prepare the food with him multiple times. I really hope to God those dishes were not served to me at my table, because I did not want to pay a thousand dollars for food that was prepared by a drunk slob. There are times and places to be a loud sloppy drunk: a bar, a wedding, a nightclub. But not a Michelin star restaurant the size of my living room.
What's also a laugh is that when booking the reservation, you pay for the entire meal, plus a 20% tip. Then you get a confirmation email telling you: "to avoid any disturbances during the dining experience at Omakase we keep our doors closed until our seating time at 5:00 and 7:45 p.m." So people walking in through the doors is more of a disturbance than 5 drunken slobs screaming over each other? Again, laughable.
I've eaten at multiple Michelin star rated restaurants in San Francisco and across the country. Never have I had such a horrid experience that included not being able to hear my partner or my own thoughts at the table. This was the worst ambiance in any restaurant, let alone a Michelin star. Again I cannot believe we paid nearly a thousand dollars for this meal. Those drunk slobs and the chefs who were making it worse by egging on the drunks absolutely RUINED our anniversary dinner. I will never ever ever be returning to this restaurant.

Lowkey, this was absolutely worth it. The sushi was fresh. You could tell the fish hadnt actually been “frozen” before and was freshly flown in from Japan(btw all their ingredients are fresh from japan). I went there with my dad, the sake tasting was amazing, none of the 5 we tried were alike and it presented an experience in itself. I wont spoil it for you but its like going through all the seasons one by one, at least when I went. Chef Yu wasnt our sushi chef but ours was still an amazing cook and a very pleasant person. He focused on the sushi a lot and explained every dish and conversed about the origins of the fish and history. Our waitress was amazing with the detailed sake explanations, you can tell shes an enthusiast by the way she goes into depth with any question you ask. The waiter was really fun when we first walked in and gave us a really cool experience. Ive dined in plenty of famous, $$$ omakases in tokyo and i have to say this was well worth it. It has been my best meal out of tokyo and i think it will continue to be. I cannot stress how perfect everything and i mean everything was this evening. We enjoyed a quiet, relaxing atmosphere and the dessert towards the end was definetely my favourite part. The uni was very fresh, contrary to a review i read and so was everything else. I have no complaints, only compliments. I never thought i would enjoy such fresh ingredients outside of japan. I will try the other omakases in sf, but i honestly doubt they will be much better than this. It was very filling and we spent $650~~ on the food and an additional 180 on sake. I only wish i had gotten more otoro while i wad there.

Super delicious food and very helpful staff. General menu is ok, but nothing exciting. Check out the survival menu for the real deal

Well this was my first Michelin star restaurant! It lived up to the hype :-) obviously the food was very good quality and the presentation was on point. It felt like a very intimate and special evening. I thought maybe the chef would talk to us more as we were sitting at the chef's counter but he did not and that was fine. We really got to experience our own unfiltered experience of the food rather than something tailored by what the chef said.

Best sushi / dining experience I've ever had! Chef's menu did not disappoint - the freshest fish!

Decided to choose the table experience and was slightly upset because I didn’t realize we’d be far from the action but was delighted by how amazing our waitresses were. There were both kind and knowledgeable but I want to also specifically shout out Amy. She was so patient and attentive with us. It’s like she knew that I saved up a lot to be able to take my boyfriend somewhere special and she really made me (or us rather) feel like we belonged. I don’t know what to say besides the fact that we will certainty be back one day! Her knowledge in sakes and wines were MINDBLOWING! I suggest everyone spring for the sake pairing. Really well done. My boyfriend also dislikes seafood in the states because he’s been to Japan and his standards are extremely high but this restaurant brought him to tears! It was also great watching him converse in Japanese with all the staff. I just want to say thank you so much for an amazing night filled with laughter, smiles, exquisite food, kind service and PHENOMENAL service and drinks. Thanks again Amy!

Wow - truly amazing sushi
The sashimi course was probably some of the best fish and composed pieces I have had. All of the pieces are amazing, loved the scallop, squid, snapper, of course fatty tuna, and the ending of uni. Dessert was light, sweet, but a perfect ending. Also had the sake pairing which was excellent, educational, and full of some pretty rare or distinct choices.
If you wanted a Michelin star sushi experience this is the one I would choose

First time to eat at this 1 michelin star Japanese omakase bar in San Francisco and it didn’t disappoint!! Every serving from the sushi chef is so good. Each sushi/sashimi/roll served is absolutely fantastic. Can’t wait to be back for their next seasonal menu.

I came to dine in this restaurant back in ~May, 2018. It was already a one-star Michelin restaurant then. Reason I gave 2 stars was because its Uni was not fresh.. When eating the Uni served, I remember the smell did not..smell right. At that moment I thought I was just being too picky/sensitive, or maybe that is just the smell of Uni (later on I verified. No, fresh Uni will not have that smell..). I had bad stomach the next day early morning, and....

Ordered two boxes of sushi for take-out.
The uni went bad. The smell stayed in my mouth throughout the day.

The service was the friendliest I’ve experienced in what can often be a more rigid set-up. The chefs and sommelier were extremely well-informed, generous and talented. The fish is downright insane. I highly recommend the sake pairing if you want to discover all of the nuance rice wine can offer. We are returning next month when we are in town. Thank you for this meal.

This is a review from months ago. The food is great, the service is great. Nothing spectacular and I'm curious as to why this has a Michelin star. When people pay for a Micheline service, they expect the customer service to be top notch. The wait staff was great but my experience was not.
For the staff, maybe it's a good idea not to converse loudly in Chinese. It kind of ruins the theme you're building. I choose to ignore this, whom I believe was kitchen staff walk in while the guests are dining and talking in Chinese with the sushi chef, while still having that cigarette stench on his breath.

Fantastic dining experience with top quality sashimi. The staff were super friendly and the chef’s choice of courses had a wide range of variety and were all delicious. They even made a special substitute for me since I don’t like squid which was really nice.
Reservations are pretty ideal since the whole dining experience can take 1-2hrs. Omakase is equally about the dining experience as it is about eating great sushi.

The miso soup is incredible. I always can tell if a shop is great if they nail the miso soup and these folks def have an art to theirs.
I believe the name of the dish was the 'Aki Hibara' (I probably butchered it) but that was a stellar use of Vermicelli mushrooms. Insanely good - on par with LA's best sushi.
Cheers!

Food was fine, but nothing really stood out - the night was also a bit filled with ruckus at the bar given that there were frequent customers that the chef was trying to entertain.
We would have preferred a place that's less trendy and paid more attention to the dishes for a more memorable experience.
We've been to Robin, Juni, Kusakabe and we'd both rate this experience as on the lower side compared to the others.

Best sushi so far

The weather was unbelievably rainy but Omakase made all the rainy driving worth it! The chef was amazingly skilled and also really funny so it was a great experience :) The fish was really fresh and the chef took time to explain before every dish any noteworthy characteristics so we knew what to taste for. I was also really full by the end! They checked for vaccination status before letting us in and the chefs wore masks during the entire ~2hour service.
We went for our anniversary and they drew a cute little card for us :)

Definitely a high-end sushi worth to try in the city, all fishes are processed greatly and not fishy at all except a little for the Uni, I like Toro the best! Summer is generally not a best time for eating variety of fishes, worth a try in the spring again!

This was by far the best dining experience I’ve ever had. The Sushi/Nigiri was prepared to perfection and everything was full of flavor. The level of detail in the presentation, the high quality ingredients and the professionalism from the chef and staff were unmatched. Our favorites were the O Toro, the Scallop and the Sashimi. Really enjoyed the ice cream dessert as well. Hope to be back when in the area again!

We’ve been to many many Omakase tasting experiences all over the world and the experience here was wonderful. The food was def the best part. The ambiance was a traditional Omakase tasting bar, so a bit more understated and the service was good. As far as consistency and quality goes, it just wasn’t the five star experience compared to others we’ve been to...but was a close second and worth the visit!

It has been two weeks since I came to Omakase SF, and I just cannot forget that amazing experience.
Of course, all the dishes are great and I believe all the other reviews already said that. But the most impressive thing is those perfect nigiri. Each of them is like *A SEPARATE BUT COMPLETE DISH*. I used to think nigiri is just nigiri, which composed of rice and fish. But in Omakase, the chefs carefully adjust the spices and ingredients, so you can feel how different the flavors are for each of them.
Indeed, I have heard that when Michelin rate restaurants, they will put a large portion on the novelty and creativity. But I never thought it can be such creative. I cannot stop thinking how long and how much effort the chefs put to create those good food. Really appreciate it.
