First time here for lunch, and it was a good experience. Party of 2, and we selected the premium ayce. We witted with the premium items and most had an option for nigiri or sashimi. We opted for the sashimi version, and after eating most of the premium items, we were pretty full, but it was still worth the price. Fish was flavorful without smelling or tasty too fishy, which is a good sign of the quantity they use.
Will be back again as there were other items we would like to try.

First off, let’s start by saying Umi Sushi is HANDS DOWN better than Pier 50 and It's Sushi! While the AYCE concept is similar at all three places, Umi Sushi offers a much wider selection for premium orders. As a nigiri enthusiast, I ordered more nigiri than sushi rolls, and I was thrilled with the offerings. The bluefin toro, salmon toro, hamachi toro, amaebi, and uni were incredibly fresh and flavorful.
I was especially pleased to find the bluefin toro hand roll on the menu, which allowed for even more ways to enjoy their premium selections. The variety truly enhances the experience of indulging in high-quality sushi.
The atmosphere was inviting, and the service was excellent—attentive without being intrusive. Overall, Umi Sushi delivers a fantastic dining experience that outshines its competitors. I can’t recommend it enough!
Shared a few photos of our orders we had for dinner.
They had other stuff you can order too beside sushi but I went there mainly for sushi. 😁

We came here for a second time and had an even better experience than the last, even though we didn’t think that was possible. Poppy, our waitress, was so attentive and helpful with my gluten free needs and she even remembered us from the last time we came about a month ago!
It didn’t end there, though. She was so so sweet and attentive to our 8 month old son and kept coming back to talk with him and bring him toys to play with. At the end of the night, she asked to hold him and he snuggled up to her, which was so sweet! Her service was above and beyond and we will never forget how welcome she made us feel. Amazing!🥰
On top of it all, the food is phenomenal!

I'm going to start off with a disclaimer - I do not eat sushi. I love ramen, which is why I came here. My brother ate 2 sushi rolls and said they were delicious, but I couldn't tell you what they were other than fish.
I got the Black Garlic Oil Tonkotsu Ramen and it was a solid 10/10. Not spicy if you're worried about heat, but plenty flavorful. A large bowl with a perfectly cooked egg and lots of other delicious toppings.
There was plenty of seating available and our server was very friendly and checked on us a few times while we ate.

So my family and I came here on a Monday holiday and the place was packed. The food was really good, however, they kept forgetting our orders and the service was really slow. I know, I know, I should've expected this coming on a holiday so that's why I still gave them 4 stars.
We got the premium menu which included the tuna toro along with the other toros but they kept forgetting it and it didn't come out until the very end. I was so disappointed because I was already full at this point. The sashimi is fresh and the salmon sashimi, especially, was delicious. I will definitely come back again but not on a weekend or a holiday, of course.

We ordered 2 items on their menu. I figured the big serving of sushi(gigantic roll) is enough for 2 people. First we had the shrimp puff and it was good, although not as fulfilling. It really is a puff. Second is Chopstick guys. The size of this sushi is almost like a burrito. It takes about 2 or 3 bites for one piece. The aioli sauce with uni sauce and seared salmon is what makes this one really good. With only these 2 order we were full. We will definitely be back and either try other sushi or get the AYCE sushi.

We came around 6pm wanting to try that AYCE - premium. The food was pretty good. The sushi baked was a little bit sweeter to our liking, the legalized unagi & potato croquette were very bland. Sashimi and toros were delicious. Out of everything, we love the fresh oysters (sauce was amazing!) and the spicy garlic edamame the most!
The service was great, they were very busy and it seem a bit under staffed so I understand. I see my waiter answering phone calls, and at one time he was behind the kitchen rolling sushi! Ha ha! So I completely understand, keep up the work.
Overall we like it, pricing is not too bad and we were both super full at the end.

Umi Sushi has an affordable all you can eat menu with a HUGE VATIETY of different kinds of sushi.
The baked mussels and fried oysters were a first for me and were impressively delicious.
Being a sushi lover, I often am disspointed with the quality of fish served for the all you can eat menu. They do not over rice their nigri, and the fish is perfect.
Well done!

All you can eat and friendly staff with no wait on a Saturday night. Food was great, everyone left completely full. I had like 6 or 7 rolls plus some apps. They have a good selection of jalapeño and habanero rolls. Firehouse and Emotional Damage were my favorites. We had no complaints and I would love to go back.

Only ok, not the best sushi experience. Little fish and a lot of rice. Freshness of fish in question. We like good sushi and this place was disappointing. We won't be back.

I came for the ayce premium which was $39 per person. Quality of raw fish is nothing to rave about. Its acceptable for ayce. Good variety of appetizers to choose from. Would have given 5 stars but it only takes one super bad dish to ruin the experience. Wish they had better menu descriptions on ingredients of dish. Their Spicy Tuna handroll was loaded with Gochujang paste. The paste is heavily concentrated and normally used for soups with a couple spoonfuls, or you could water it down to make a sauce. Gochujang paste is not a traditional ingredient for a handroll. If you've never had Gochujang the best description I can give is imagine spicy red chili paste with consistency of thick peanut butter. Now mix in huge wad of it onto your handroll.Disgusting.. They should also rename the korean fried chicken on menu to popcorn chicken drizzled with gochujang paste to avoid confusion. I was expecting thigh/drumstick or wings. Korean fried chicken can be made with a variety of glazes, had I known it was gochujang I would had refrained from ordering it after my negative experience with the spicy tuna handroll.

So this is a review of the all-you-can-eat. The gold items are all very good such as the sashimi and oysters and such. However the all-you-can-eat rolls are terrible! If you like rolls go somewhere else. They obviously are not trying to give people a good value on a good roll in the all you can eat. Now again. I don't know about their individual menu. But honestly I'm not willing to go back and try it. The best all-you-can-eat in the entire city is Fuji sushi in Elk Grove! Bet!

Came in with my partner who just wanted ramen, while I was going to have AYCE. She has an allergy so AYCE didn't make sense, but they don't allow one person to have AYCE and the other something else. Rediculous, as if we were thieves or something and were going to abuse the policy. Terrible policy.

Fiah quality was great. I don't recommend the uni as mine was a little bitter. The sushi rice could use some rework. Maybe too sour? It overpowered the fish flavor profile.

We used to love it we have gone around 10 times in 2 years and the old waitress was amazing . She always took care of us and we never had to wait for anything . The past 2 visits there is this new latina waitress who is very rude and doesn’t have any good customer service at all. She did not want to help me with a certain roll I wanted the rice outside and she said she couldn’t make any changes at all even though they have always done it for me before . Her tone of voice and looks were very dirty and after paying $150 for 3 people for me not to even eat seafood with sushi it was a waste . She also forgot our ramen and we waited about 40 min to get our second ramen . She also did not provide any sauce and wasabi I asked for wasabi 3 times I told her we don’t like to eat the sushi without it and even got up to tell her she took 10 min extra . (Restaurant was empty btw we were the only ones so no excuse ) we will not be coming back unfortunately this was our go to place and we are just disappointed the waiter def needs more training. Food was good and cooks and other ladies helping were good as well.

First off amazing staff, super friendly and helpful. This lead hostess is always a joy to dine out with, she even gave us special instructions so we didn’t over pay and get the wrong things for our party. Grateful.
Next, their menu is super expansive, Bento Boxes, Udons with all the fixings, and lastly their Sushi is out of this world good, very close in quality to the other two or three best Sushi places in town, and then add the All You Can Eat Menu to the list, for $41 to $49 dollars you get an absurd amount and variety of seafood and or other wonderful dishes.
All in all one of our favorite restaurants in town.

I wanted to give it a 5, but the lackluster service forced me into a 4 rating. The PLS and White Dragon were my highlights. All the rolls are very large, but the "big" ones they list on their menu are huge. I saw a lot of folks ordering ramen which smelled really good. If I went back I would order that.

I’ve grabbed carry out three times now (salmon nigiri, salmon/avo roll, salmon maki) and have been impressed with the consistent quality of everything. Their portions on the nigiri have varied slightly in length but must go by weight because the shorter pieces have been thicker. Hostess was very kind each pick up and reviewed their dine-in options when I asked last time I grabbed my order. Excited to dine-in with them soon and try their AYCE menu!

Came for a weekday lunch, thinking would be less crowded. But wrong! Only one waitress and one helper, you can imagine how overwhelmed the 2 poor girls are. Food took long time to come, requested extra napkins and not getting them at all. The food was too salty, so salty even for someone like me who is known to put too much salt. I had to water down the soup of my ramen. The waitress told us they recently changed to a new chef. We didn’t enjoy at all the all-you-can premium at all.

My wife and I went for the all you can eat lunch. We mostly went since they have more options than most places do when it comes to all you can eat. Unfortunately, the food missed the mark. Some of the rolls had a chemically after taste, the appetizers were ok. But nothing we ate there would entice us to return.

Food is ok. Service needs major improvement. Do not go there if you are going to have a large party. They wait on the tables with 4 or less folks and could care less on taking care of larger groups.
Food order was either incorrect or you have to for them to place the order a second or third time. In order to get your food. Could not even get a glass of water refilled.
To top it all off they want to change 18+% gratuity for below average service and subpar food.
Really disappointing seeing as my friend said they are really good.

It's probably the worst experience I've had at any restaurant. We waited for over 50 minutes for our first items to come out, and it seemed like they didn't work on the orders in the order that they came in.
One of our orders, the hokkigai, was... not hokkigai but a mystery fish that was on the verge of being spoiled. When I ate it, I wanted to spit it out right away. The last batch of rice was so vinegar-y, it ruined all the sushi.
We waited for long periods of time between our orders, and the whole meal took about 2 hours. I would never come back here again, but the staff was apologetic and tried their best.

Terrible experience! We went for a sushi buffet. We didn’t finish the sushi, and we asked if we can take it to-go. The waitress said yes but with an extra charge of $5 each person. We said sure. She came back with the bill and said that “it’s okay, we’re not gonna charge you this time but next time try not to order so much”. We were grateful that she didn’t charge us and so we decided to leave her a HUGE tip for that. We sat there for 20-30minutes waiting for our to-go box and she never gave it to us. Really upsetting that she decided not to give us the box due to not charging us the fee. Like she could have communicated that to us? We would have never left her such a big tip

All you can eat Menu is RIDICULOUS, they only have a couple options available for rolls, and per management there are “no modifications”, it would be understandable if it was a $15-$20 all you can eat, but it’s not the case. They offer a bunch of cheap frozen food on the “appetizers” section. The servers are nice and the sushi makers seem to have a happy attitude, hopefully they will find a better place to work…
Reply Update:
There’s no variety in the meats, some customers like to eat something different than shrimp or salmon, and besides what’s the issue about customizing a 4 pc roll in a $35+TAX all you can eat menu (taking into account that most customers only have 1 or 2).
If you want to have a good example of a decent all you can eat sushi place you can take a look at Aji Sushi on North Highlands…
Hopefully you can take this as a constructive feedback instead of arguing, thanks.

I really liked this place for the "all you can eat" menu, but they have changed the menu. They now have an "all you can eat" menu that offers different pricing for lunch and dinner. However the premium pricing for "all you can eat" gives you access to the sashimi menu, but at a limited quantity, which defeats the purpose of having an all you can eat menu. I have visited this establishment multiple times before and they never limited the amount of sashimi you can order during the "all you can eat" menu time frames, and the prices were lower before they made this change. If you are paying for premium just know they will only allow you to order 15 pieces of salmon sashimi, 2 pieces of everything else, but you only receive 1 piece of the toro. I'm really disappointed and will be going somewhere else for sushi. Also, the wait time was very long. I ordered 1 order of the 15 piece salmon sashimi, and 3 Ugani hand rolls and it took a little over and hour to serve it. It also wasn't busy either, they are usually slow to serve when it's busy, but this time it wasn't and it still took too long. I recommend BF Miyabi. Their salmon sashimi is amazing, better quality, and they give you thicker cuts of sashimi. It is pricier, but at this point I would rather go there, because they are practically the same price now.

Took my wife here. Everything was great, except the creamy baked mussels. I enjoy baked mussels at every sushi restaurant I visit when it's available. And this creamy baked mussels looked exquisitely delicious but the smell was awful. I was able to gup in the mussel but almost couldn't control my gage reflex on the 2nd. The smell was strong and had a raw overdue smell. It would be great to see the quality of the taste and smell be better for their creamy baked mussels in the near future.

Went for all you can eat sushi on 5/9/2023. The cuts of Nigiri were done wrong - uneven cuts, stringie, mashed a bit. The hamachi was spoiled and should not have been served. Rolls we ordered were fine. Service was fair, had to help ourselves for chopsticks and soy sauce containers from other tables, water ran out out and was not refilled, but food came out quickly.

We went for lunch on a weekend during a trip. There were many people inside and we ordered the bento boxes, including salmon teriyaki, chicken katsu, and teriyaki chicken. There were also two pieces of California rolls included. The food was OK and good value. It took us over 40 min to get our food after ordering and seemed that our order was forgotten. They provided us with a complimentary dessert, tempura ice cream, for the delay of our food, which tasted fine.

In all honesty I would give this place 4 stars. My wife used to go there every 6 weeks when we got our serviced at Big O Tiree. We got the ramen, which is good. Eventually I tired of the Ramen and I ordered the all you can eat sushi and my wife ordered the Ramen. I was told she had to also order the all u can eat sushi as well. I asked why since she also ordered a full meal. I was told it was policy because people cheat. I would understand if she wasn't ordering a full meal. We have eaten elsewhere now 4 times because of this policy. I hope they change this policy. Because some people cheat and take advantage, others should not be penalized.

Better than Mikuni. No wait, a simple open restaurant with good food, good service, good prices. This is now my go to Japanese restaurant in Roseville.

We love getting ramen here! It’s our favorite spot

Their tonkutsu Ramen with black garlic oil is da bomb. The broth is rich and creamy just like an authentic Ramen from Japan. I only wish they use a firmer noodles, and that should do the trick. The ajitsuke or marinated egg could be better. Overall it was a great dining experience and will be back for the other menu tiems.

When the family is craving sushi this is the closest place.
I like that they have a vegetarian section, which is a huge plus in my book. I do wish some of the rolls were a little more creative but, I will take it.
The staff are usually friendly and will help with addons, if that's your thing.
We stick with to go usually.
Recommend for a quick to go sushi place.

Solid place for sure. We had all you can eat menu, which was great. Super value, and good variety of foods as well.

Very good food. Expensive

The sushi itself is clearly well-made, the chefs are quite talented, and the fish is very fresh. Biggest critique is that 95% of the (surprisingly large) sushi menu is focused around spicy ingredients—jalapeños, spicy tuna, spicy mayo, siracha drizzle, etc—which wouldn’t normally be a problem, but they REALLY don’t hold back on the spice. To follow up, substituting any spicy fish with some regular fish incurs a $3 charge and can jump the price up for single roll to near $20. Sorry, but it’s too much for me when I have to ask for substitutes which will break the bank on just ordering two rolls for a single person.
Again, the food itself is well-crafted. Just too pricey for what their menu offers and not enough variety for the menu's size.

Just wow! Highly recommend. Loved the food, ambience and the staff was very polite and welcoming. Overall, very relaxing and kids friendly place. I don't think I will go anywhere else to eat Sushi.

Quick seating, quick ramen and appetizers. My sushi came out incorrectly and waited nearly 40 minutes for a replacement roll...
Edit:
The replacement sushi is not what i asked for at all. Very disappointed.

We were planning to have an early dinner before heading to the hotel and found this restaurant on our way. We arrived a few moment before 5pm and quickly more people came in to the restaurant, so we assumed that this restaurant was good. Since we were too tired to eat at the restaurant, we ordered the food to-go. We ordered california roll, shrimp tempura roll, spider roll, and chicken katsu dinner box. The service was quite fast and we got our food within 15 minutes of ordering.
As soon as we settled at the hotel, we immediately ate the food as we were famished. The california roll & shrimp tempura roll were good and decent - nothing special and they were on a smaller size. The spider roll was super disappointing. The rolls were small, especially the soft shell crab pieces were small. I believe that they put in shrimp tempura as 'filler' because it didn't taste like crab at all! My husband ate the chicken katsu and said that the chicken was rubbery and not fresh. We definitely won't come back with such low quality food.

This place is great! Great staff and the food is fantastic! I am always on the lookout for good sushi and ramen and this place delivers. Tantan men was spicy and full of flavor. I recommend that with a White Dragon roll, 9-1-1 roll or the off menu Firehouse roll. I will be back an I encourage you to give them a try!

Updated 10/21 with a downgrade to 2 stars :Shame, this place is super close, solid food that is consistent. We've patronized throughout the takeout only portion or the pandemic (tipping very generously) and continued to. But after awful customer service tonight, we won't be returning.
I had called to place and order for pickup. The person answering sounded frazzled and said, "umi, please hold" Okay, ten minutes pass, I'm wondering if they're too busy to so an order but it was a celebratory meal so I hung in there. Ten minutes pass, I contemplated hanging up and calling back, but didn't want to lose my place in the queue, so I hopped in the car and headed over to find a mostly empty parking lot. Which is curious because even on non busy times/days parking in this lot is a challenge. Still on hold. Enter the restaurant, a whopping 3 tables were occupied with 2 -5 people at each. Still on hold. A gentleman came to the podium and asked if he could help me. I showed my phone screen still on hold (now at 22 minutes - told you it was close) and that I'm trying to place an order for take out. No apology for the excessive time on hold, not even acknowledging it. Placed and paid for order (not generously tipping this time) and was told to "give them 15-20 minutes". Son, I already gave you 20+ minutes, maybe consider your public facing language skills and choose better words. No offer of water while I waited. Just trash canned an establishment we spent the last 6 years going to and ordering from with stunning aplomb.
The food was solid and consistent as always. But if you want to be treated like chattle to get it, this is your place.
Always solid! It can be breezy by the door. Their ramen is solid as is their roll selection. Definitely a hidden gem, with a good sake menu! It can get busy, but you can call ahead for seating so you don't have to wait there. Then when you arrive at the agreed upon time, they'll seat you right away.

A lot of options and very tasty

Their ramen bowl was extremely tasty. Full of flavor and the bowl was bigger than a traditional ramen bowl. But for 13 bucks it's worth it

Mushroom ramen is fantastic. Rolls are perfect. Everything is fresh and the service is great. Quick and delicious, I will be back for sure. A wonderful date spot. Not too fancy, not too casual. Juuuuuust right.
