High-end chain serving notable chef Roy Yamaguchi's Hawaiian fusion fare in a contemporary setting.
Roy’s offered excellent service and delicious salads, perfect for a light lunch while we waited for our room. Since we were saving our appetite for the NYE buffet extravaganza, this was just the right choice and amount of food. The lobster bisque was excellent and not pictured here since I forgot to stop to photograph the soup.
The restaurant was lively, filled with families and golfers enjoying the stunning weather and elegant decor. The front desk and bellhop staff were accommodating and helpful, adding to the overall positive experience. Whether you’re a hotel guest or a day visitor, it’s a fantastic place to dine.

Located within the Inn at Spanish Bay, we all had a wonderful special occasion meal at Roy's. It was our first time trying Hawaiian food, and the cuisine was great. The restaurant is beautiful, the views of the ocean are outstanding, and the service was great. It's was a perfect dining experience tonight!

We went here for dinner, and we were pleasantly surprised. We all loved our food, no complaints. There is a bit of a limited menu, which is very expensive, and there isn't much for picky eaters other than some delicious fried rice. The dessert was excellent, we had good chocolate "mud pie" and sorbet. The sushi was amazing, too.

My husband and I took our friends from out of town to Roy’s for lunch by the beach. Food was perfect and service was wonderful. Parking is easy and I loved being able to make reservations online before I drove out. Mocktails were delicious too! Soup of the day was so good. Get the Kona mud pie for dessert. Not a cheap or quick meal but worth it. Definitely will be back!

We made a reservation two nights before we went. We showed up about an hour early because we didn’t have anything else to do, and they seated us early.
Dinner was excellent! We got the Halibut and Surf and Turf, finished with chocolate lava cake. Definitely pricey, but one of the better dinner options in the area.

Overall, the food was excellent with a good selection of wines. We started with Spanish crispy octopus, which was huge and perfectly grilled. The meat was tender but not chewy, indicating it was cooked just right. The specially prepared spicy sauce with a topping of peanuts was delicious. The simpler spring rolls with shrimp and beef, dipped in sweet and spicy Thai-style chili sauce, were appetizing. We also ordered the hamachi tartare; it was fresh and cut into perfect bite-sized pieces. A sprinkle of light soy and yuzu sauce made this dish very flavorful. My favorite was the scallops, which provided layers of flavor from the seaweed and scallops in each mouthful—truly tasty and full of umami! The sushi roll was a good starter for sharing, making us want more. However, the grilled Brussels sprouts were overcooked and too hard to chew. For the main course, we had the grilled halibut with onion rings, grilled cod fish on rice, and I chose the smoked ahi tuna with rice. Paired with a red wine of our choice and served by Ron, our attentive waiter, it was a great combination. The view from our outside seating overlooked the Pebble Beach 18th hole, accompanied by a lovely Scottish piping performance.

On 04/11/2024 we had a great dinner, with one of the best views in the Pebble Beach area. Watching the sunset from that corner table, (which has to be the best view in this place,) was a great experience. The drinks, the food, and the presentation was fantastic, and it’s because the entire staff was great!
Special thanks to our waiter Jesus, (he was also our server at breakfast at a different place that morning,) we explained the situation that morning at breakfast, and that it was our first time vacationing in the area, and how we were not impressed with the tourist attraction type of restaurants that dotted the local area. He suggested that we come to Roy’s for dinner. Great suggestion too.
Thank you Jesus!
He took a couple extra minutes with us at breakfast, and during dinner also. Truly one of a kind human. It’s always better when people working in hospitality will focus on the details… and customers.
During our dining experience at Roy’s, he was very busy, yet he was attentive to every table, and every customer. It creates a great atmosphere!

One of my favorite places to dine with an ocean view that always makes me feel good. Food is very good and the sitting area outside looking out onto the Pacific is a fine way to spend the afternoon. Prices have increased substantially in the decade I’ve frequented Roy’s. If you’re a solo diner, then expect uneven attention. This means you might not get any check-ins from your waiter while the tables around you get checked on 3+ times each. Refuse to tolerate this and report your lack of service to the management. I’ve had to do this several times.

One of my favorite restaurants in the area. I'm normally a skeptic of fusion cuisine, but all the dishes I've had here have been outstanding. Year in, year out, the seafood options continue to impress.

A little disappointed wine by the glass is a very limited selection. I wanted a Zinfandel to go with my pork chop they didn’t have one and the pinot Noir was sub standard. For me wine is a very important part of enjoying a good meal and I found Roy’s very lacking.

Beware. Two of us got sick with strong overnight stomach distress both times we dined here for dinner. Two years apart. I’m afraid the kitchen conditions are quite poor.
Service was also bad. He had no personality and was inattentive.
My two dishes arrived in the wrong order. There was no discussion as to which I wanted first and he assumed incorrectly. I sent it back and waited for the correction with no acknowledgement of the error from any of their staff. In fact, I never saw a manager anywhere near our table (on a busy Saturday night.)
Just as bad - one of the dishes contained an uncooked protein. I clearly asked what the protein was when I ordered and was never told this was the case. I sent it back. There was never an apology or mention that they’d take it off the bill.
I’d never return.

Short ribs were huge and extremely tasty. Best I have ever tastes!
Scallops were very large and delicious -- a very good choice. Seaweed garnish was a delight -- never ate this before and was pleasantly surprised.
Chefs were able to prepare food to please our dairy free and gluten free diners. This extra leviof service was greatly appreciated.

The atmosphere is great, bagpiper is great, service is good. However, the food doesn’t do it for me. All the restaurants (Hawaiian seafood/steak type places) I went to in Hawaii which were all cheaper, were much better. The salmon in the bento box tasted like a teriyaki salmon from a high volume Americanized sushi place. The lobster sandwich had no flavor of fresh lobster. Sushi is descent. The view is amazing, but they need to work on the freshness and quality of their food. Also, all the dishes were quite salty.

Can’t deny the uniqueness of the location and the perfection of the cuisine. The sushi, the octopus, the pork belly, the butterfish, everything was perfect. Parking was easy and free. If you make a reservation then you don’t get charged to enter pebble beach. Not as pricey as other locations that serve similar food. Do yourself a favor and have some dinner here.

Imagine you made a reservation for your 20th anniversary and you are taken to a tiny table with one side against a window. Your chair is right up against the chair of the person at the table behind you. Your husband cannot sit across from you because the chair of the table on the other side is butted up against your table so your husband sits in the aisle. This is by their design. Is this how you want to enjoy a $300 meal? We were so shoved in, neither of us could push our seat back at all. When we asked to move, they just moved the people in the table behind me, when they already had more room to begin with and could sit across from each other like in a normal situation. Then when I asked if they could move us, the waitress said, that’s what the hostess decided when I told her you didn’t have enough space. Well what about my husband sitting in the aisle? We were both cramped. Then they put us in a table in the corner behind stairs, that you have to side step to get into.
If your restaurant is too packed to properly seat customers, please do me a favor and tell me. I would gladly go anywhere else. No one planning on a $300 meal for two would want to sit like that, never mind you’re celebrating a wonderful occasion. I actually wanted to leave and go to a pizza parlor instead, I really felt insulted by the whole situation. Roy’s does not respect or appreciate their guests or they would not set up tables like that. And Roy’s GM, before you respond with some generic sorry your experience wasn’t up to par, please ask yourself if you planned a special night out, or just any dinner at easily $150 pp, would you honestly want to be seated at a table like that? If you say yes, you are lying.
I would give the hostess 0 stars. The wait staff was lovely. The scallops were delicious, the pork belly was all fat and basically inedible, and the lava chocolate cake was divine.
My advice is don’t come here. I appreciated my husband wanting to take me out for a nice meal so I made the best of it but I want to warn you so that you don’t have to remember your special occasion like this.

Compared to the Original Roys in Hawaii, this Roys is not it. I have been to both the Roys in Hawaii and the Roys in San Francisco and this one at Pebble Beach is by far the worst one I have been to and it was my birthday too.
The reason I say this is not based off the food. The food is good. The sea bass my mother ordered was dry. I had the mahi mahi and my father had the lamb, which were both good. Aside from the food though, the service and atmosphere were the downfall.
Beautiful view of the ocean and sunset of course, but when my father made the reservation and chose to have us at a table next to the window so we could enjoy said sunset, we were placed away from the window in the middle of the section we were sat at. It doesn't seem right to me that when a table is available next to the window and it has been requested that you place people in a different table and ignore their request.
The room was also very hot. I can understand that the outside can be cold and all, but it was not cold enough to have the heaters on in my opinion. The chairs at our table were also all loose and we were wobbling around all night. There was also no space for the servers and food runners to walk between tables as throughout our dinner I had servers, food runners, and bussers bumping into the back of my chair. I tried to move my chair up to make room for them but moving it farther up would have meant I was eating with the table in my stomach. Nobody even said ‘excuse me’ or ‘my apologies’ every time they hit my chair.
While we ate, our server set our entrees down and came back 5 minutes later asking what we wanted for dessert. I don't know about you but I don’t want to think about my dessert when I have barely gone through my entree. It just felt like we were being rushed the whole time.
Our server seemed rushed as well. The restaurant looked to prioritize turning as many tables as possible over the experience of the guest. Really disappointing to see at a restaurant with Roy’s name on it. I also thought it was odd that all the servers and food runners were all in different uniforms. Some people had sunglasses hanging from their shirts, some had sleeves rolled half way, some rolled all the way, some not at all, collars flipped half up, buttons all the way, buttons half way down and I can see your wrinkly grey shirt while your other counterparts are wearing different shades of white and grey too and some with a black shirt. Its just odd to me seeing a restaurant that is supposed to be high-end and that I pay premium prices to eat there to look so dysfunctional.
To put the cherry on top, we came to Roy’s for my birthday and I had no idea we were coming until we walked up. My father put on the reservation that it was my birthday. I don’t expect to be given free food but when other tables were given the same dessert with a birthday candle on it by their server and I was not even wished a happy birthday by any of the staff it makes me feel very disappointed. It does not take much as a host or server to see that one of your tables has a birthday and to atleast just say happy birthday when the guest made the effort to notify the restaurant ahead of time of this fact on the reservation.
Also, the coffee is terrible. Tastes like diner coffee that has been made in the same pot 5 times without washing or changing the coffee filter or grounds.
All in all, I enjoyed most of our food and I am very disappointed in the quality of service the restaurant provided and I am disappointed that they represent the Roy’s image when Roy’s in Hawaii would never show this level of service.

We always come here when we are in Carmel/Monterey. The view is amazing and it is such a wonderful place to enjoy a drink and meal and take in the expansive ocean views. Our meal was fantastic and the service was also excellent. We had the Firecracker Roll for an appetizer and it was excellent. My husband enjoyed his Bento Box so much we tried to go back during our stay but they were booked. I had the Thai Style Rice Noodle Bowl. It was good but needed a little more spice which I was able to do with the sauces provided. I highly recommend and do not think you will be disappointed.

Concisely, food are very small portions, especially for the price, both our sea bass and Mahi Mahi were dry, no flavor. They did not bring out the bread until after asking three times AND after our meal was there..on and on, has a nice view, but many other restaurants there do. Will not be going back
Better to eat outside if anything with the half pound hamburger and other options.

Expected more from this restaurant. Five of us ate here for lunch on a Sunday with a server who was inattentive and kind of sour (only way I can think of describing him). The restaurant was maybe 1/3 full. The fish sandwich was a small piece of fish with an onion ring on top on what was said to be "brioche" but was a safeway-like seeded white hamburger roll. Only some sauce on top, no garnishes other than the onion ring. Seabass salad tiny and uneventful. No refills on water - sitting there two hours - until we proactively called server over. For such a large check amount, wouldn't return. I would only come here for the views, but there are better spots along the coast, with much more effort put into the food and service, so I don't think I'd return....

Then ordered the unique Bento Box and Sambal Glazed Island fish sandwich. Great presentation and delicious. Try their signature cocktails. After you dine, take a stroll at the golf course and all the way down to the shore. I was lucky to see some deer.

Uh, those menu prices. I "couldn't stomach" the other menu items $***, so I ordered salad. At PF Chang I spent like $30 for a salad meal and it was garbage. Here at Roy's, I ordered the Mongolian Chicken Salad, and it was phenomenal. I also enjoyed some Italian Moscato whose name I will never be able to remember but the waiter recommended, and octopus appetizer.
Also, top notch views and service.

We have visited Roys many times for dinner and have never been disappointed. Recently we were told to try Roys for lunch…the bento to be exact. Tried and was very disappointed. The furikake rice seemed to have been left out overnight and was dry and hard. The special appetizer was a sea bass…a fishy odor and very dry and hard. The tempura vegetables were not like the tempura we have enjoyed at dinner. This was doughy and soggy. The highlight of lunch was the five-star service. The hostess was warm and welcoming…very gracious! Our waiter Tony was very attentive, friendly and kind…the best service!

We arrived around 11:30. First sign we should’ve left was when we asked for a table with a fire place. The waitress told us that they were only for 2+ people. However others we saw many fireplace tables with only 2 people. We sat on our non-fireplace table while looking at the menu. We were served water before we were ready to order. The server never came. We decided to wait a little but after 10 minutes no one came. We asked another server when our server would be coming. The other server told us he would call our server. The other server left. We re not sure if he called our server since she never came. It was another 10 minutes when that other server came back to serve his table. We asked again and he told us he would call her. Seems like he didn’t since we waited another 10 minutes. We just leaving. We still had to pay around $11.25 just to GET IN the restaurant. We didn’t get a refund. Basically we paid to sit without a fireplace in the cold looking at the menu for almost an hour because of an ignorant waitress.

The food was phenomenal even though it was pricey. The chefs and kitchen staff are very skilled and consistent.
The only issue we had was the speed of the service. We felt like we were waiting for our entrees for 15-20 minutes longer than we should have been. The food seemed to be a bit colder than we felt it should have been. We went on Thanksgiving so they may have been overwhelmed with the amount of Turkey that they had to prepare.
We had ordered the Crispy Tofu and Pork Belly which were both delicious and tender. The flavors complimented each other really well.
I would dine here again possibly during less busy hours.

The fried rice was similar to panda express, the octopus had no flavor and was cooked incorrectly. The seabass again had no flavor and the chocolate lava cake was frozen quality. Nothing was good, it was just ok. And the prices are way too much for this type of quality. Very disappointed but loved the view and firepit at the table.

Have gone to Roy's many times over the years. Have had breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food has always been excellent if you like Hawaiian fusion. One item that we always get is the tiger shrimp & beef spring roll appetizer. I've posted pictures of the spring roll, original blackened rare ahi, bento box. You may see a celebrity as well . One time, three tables away was Alecia Keyes and family.

Beautiful place to catch the sunset. Bagpiper plays then. Highly recommended 👌

They were two restaurants Spanish Bay we met one of the employees and he explained Roy's was a little more casual type food and he was right. After looking at both menus this was the perfect pick and for us glad we went here. We had tempura vegetables for our appetizer which came with carrots and asparagus and other different vegetables but had never had asparagus with tempera veggies to say the least they were perfect perfectly cooked so good and the sauce with them was excellent. We both had iced teas which was good. My main course was pork fried rice and my thought it was going to come like Chinese for fried rice wood not at all it had a pulled pork on top of a tower of fried rice it was so tender and so delicious I was amazed I had to push myself away so I wouldn't eat too much and there was a lot two or three people could have ate off my plate. My wife had the ginger soy marinated teriyaki chicken which was also amazing so tender and juicy. It was our 35th wedding anniversary on October 8th and we started talking to a couple right next to us and their anniversary was on the exact same day just 3 years earlier. When the wait staff heard they brought us over a beautiful dessert that said happy anniversary. The people there were so wonderful The service was fantastic we even had a little bunny come up on the grass to the side of us why we were eating they have a big piece of glass that keeps the wind from hitting you from the ocean while you're eating out on the beautiful patio. It is a definite must go to and eat while you're down there you will definitely enjoy it I guarantee you.

Haven't seen a nicer view from a restaurant that matches this one. Plus, the historical value is also at play...

Ordered rack of lamb RARE, even confirmed with server. What I got was between medium and medium well. Not tender and juicy at all.
Also got caesar salad. Even though I don't use a lot of dressing, there still wasn't enough. Also bland and uninspired.
Disappointing, don't need to go there again.

Located at the north end of the Pebble Beach resorts. This restaurant is not only well worth the 17 mile drive fee but a must for anyone visiting the area. Standard breakfast fare served in an idyllic setting with impeccable service. Whether you are a golfer or a couple in town for a romantic getaway, I highly recommend stopping here for a luxurious meal any time of day, you won't be disappointed.

We have dined at Roy’s multiple times over the years. We were disappointed with our recent evening dining experience. Two members of our party had to send back their sea bass as it was literally raw. We certainly didn’t expect something like this based on our past experiences at this restaurant and for what the menu item cost. The waiter was kind and eager to remedy, but when the food came back, it was sub par. Please note that we aren’t finicky eaters and will pretty much try anything. Because of our love for the atmosphere of this place, we were willing to give the restaurant another shot. We decided to eat lunch here before departing the hotel for the week. Our lunch menu food, service and atmosphere was good. On a side note- We had trouble getting anyone to wait on us at the inside bar area near the fireplace. One of the waiters said she would send someone to take our order, but no one ever came. We watched two waiters head through two doors into a back room to never reappear. We left after 20 minutes as we got tired of waiting. Our service at the outside fire pit area was great during our stay.

It was a long time between my visits to Roy’s and I was pleased with the experience. Maybe I changed, or maybe Roy’s changed, or perhaps it was the company. In any case we had a great evening.
The atmosphere is very relaxing and the low noise level allows for a wonderful group dining experience. Dress was pretty casual. No need for gentlemen to wear a jacket.
We chose to order appetizers and dine tapas style. All of the food was excellent. We loved the grilled octopus and ordered a 2nd plate.
The wine list is good and the desserts are a ‘must try’
We loved it enough that we are going back next month.

I have been going to Roy’s for many years especially when I lived there. We were celebrating a 50th birthday for my fiancé’. Our table was amazing with fantastic views. Thank you. Presentations were ok but I use to love the orchids that use to decorate the plates. I was a bit disappointed in my favorite ahi appetizer. The wasabi sauce use to be a thin sauce and now it’s a thick paste which is not as good. The menu had more of a Hawaiian fusion flare before. For example, a lot of the items use to come with macadamia nuts like the macadamia halibut. The menu also use to have an amazing butterfish. In addition, Roy’s use to be known for their amazing sauces that would accompany the dish, which was also disappointing. Overall our experience was ok but I miss the old menu and presentations. Considering our meal for a glass of wine, a beer, ahi appetizer, two fish entrees and dessert for two people for $244 dollars it did not meet my expectations as it did in the past.
