Bad buns were terrible. We were seated in the dark with mediocre service. While some of the rolls were phenomenal and the miso was great this place is definitely not worth it for the price. I get sushi in the desert should come at a premium but not this much of a premium. It wasn’t like we were in Arizona.

We discovered this delicious oasis while on a weekend trip to Palm Springs. Reservations highly recommended. We opted for Omakase, the Chef’s Experience. A 9-course meal, including dessert.
The atmosphere was so very relaxed, with a familial laughter in the background. Service was excellent. Restaurant has a simple and comfortable design. The Omakase experience was pricey but every bite was worth it. 8 of the 9 courses were items off the dinner menu, each bringing a burst of flavor. The cocktails and champagne were on par with the food.
All of their sashimi and seared fishes were incredibly fresh and tender. Their rolls were filling and flavorful. The tostada had the perfect crunch and the bao was like a savory little pillow. The octopus was probably my favorite (though 1 tentacle wasn’t enough, I could have definitely eaten all 8!). We added the Hamachi Kama as it was highly recommended, and did not disappoint. We finished with a lovely madeleine served with sweet cream.
Overall we loved our experience. The Omakase was great to try out, but definitely a splurge. Next time we will definitely order our favorites off the menu. Can’t wait to go back.

JUST OUTSTANDING!! Have lived here for 6 years and despite the awesome reviews, never ate here because we're not necessarily big "sushi people"--BUT, SHAME ON US. The food was amazing...the service was perfection. The waiter literally explained everything on the menu--what was pure raw, what was seared and what was cooked. Everything we had was a taste explosion...fresh, impeccably prepared, looked gorgeous and was more than we expected. And we left full, without blowing the bank out. Next time...we will not cocktail at home first, we will pair whiskeys with our meal. Really was exceptional! Thank you.

My fiancé and I really enjoyed Sandfish. The service was really good and the restaurant had a very cute interior, perfect for date night. The food was amazing too. The sushi rolls were so fresh and the cocktails were amazing as well. I would definitely visit here again when I’m in the Palm Springs area because the vibe was amazing and it lived up to the reviews that I read on Google and yelp. Great prices to portion size too.

Overcomplicated. Can only get a fancy roll for min $27. They took off all their best more simple rolls. $9 for a miso soup……

We have been to Sandfish many times over the years and always found it excellent but it has gone downhill markedly. They have removed the langostino and wagu rolls from the menu. One of the rolls we ordered we were told they 'ran out of' two days earlier. Edamame beans were soggy near the bottom. Service was lacklustre and certainly inattentive. We sat out on the side patio, where we have sat before, but they have let it run down . . probably 10% of the lightbulbs in string lights were burned out or missing . . . it all looked very tired .. .like they had given up. The whole experience was disappointing and we will not be back again.

We really wanted to like this place. Came for a friend’s birthday BUT the birthday girl and I experienced gastro issues after eating the fried oysters. There were 4 of us but only 2 of us ate the friend oysters. Called to let them know and never received a return phone call. So eaters BEWARE of the fried oysters! With a $350 bill one would expect at least an apology from the manager 🤷🏻♀️

Solid menu. Love the little hint of the Scandinavian influence. Brought some kids so the menu is not entirely family friendly, but was able to get some tempura and rice for the kiddos. Overall best restaurant in my Palm Springs week.

Got to meet the chef. My aunt had never had raw sushi. Our waiter (we sat at the bar) was so patient and explained everything. My aunt's bf doesn't eat fish and he was able to get food as well. The drinks, sushi and ambience were beyond superb! Highly recommend!!!!
Who would have thought sushi in the desert could be so good!

Don't go there. It's a trap. They take your payment for take-out order right away and said it's ready to be packaged, that was over an hour ago, and I am still standing here waiting. Won't come here again for sure!

"While I've enjoyed sandfish in the past, their new menu unfortunately misses the mark. It seems they need a bit more time to perfect the new dishes. I was disappointed that some of my old favorites were gone, and the new options we tried weren't as impressive. Hopefully, they'll refine the menu further in the future.

Overall experience is ok, food is not authentic at all, it’s fusion and doesn’t offer real Japanese dishes whatsoever, the sushi isn’t sushi. 1/10 if you’re looking for actual Japanese cuisine.

The quality of the fish was decent but nothing special, if in Los Angeles it wouldn't stand out, and about par with what you'd get at your favorite local sushi bar. Service was pretty mid as well except for the bartender/server behind the high tops who was great. If you're looking for a dining experience that's an occasion or a memorable meal unfortunately i can't recommend Sandfish as a high-end sushi experience in Palm Springs anymore. Our last meal here a couple years back was the kind of experience you'd expect and we couldn't wait to come back. This time around, the experience and food felt like it was an afterthought from the staff and will no longer be on our list of places when visiting the area. Disappointing.

Send this email to the restaurant after my visit, but even after a follow up it was ignored by the management:
I'm reaching out after visiting your restaurant in Palm Spring for the first time tonight.
I had a reservation for 3 people for 6.30 and showed up 7-8 min early and was greeted by a friendly guy. Giving him my name he showed us to a 2 top and we were a bit confused so I asked if we were supposed to pull another table over but his response was, if you want a bigger table we will need to clean one up and move you, which we said yes to so we were moved, but not sure why a 3 people reservation were given one of the small 2 tops, that definitely didn't have enough space for the 3 of us.
We then ordered a drink and I asked for a 'whiskey high ball with a Japanese whiskey' but when my drink arrived I got a lemon sour (with shochu I assume). Not sure how my whiskey sour became that, I even specifically asked for one with Japanese whiskey.
We then ordered our food and soon after started receiving dishes, first a sea weed salad that we hadn't ordered and then a sushi roll we also hadn't ordered. My wife thought I had ordered the sea weed salad and had already take an bite, so when the waiter showed up with the 3rd wrong dish we made her aware of the mistake and she took the wrong roll and grabbed for the sea weed salad, but we told her that we had already had taken a bite of it to which she said no problem, I'll leave it with you.
Less than a minute later our neighboring table got the wrong serving that had been sitting on our table for about 5 minutes which we found odd. We don't think they noticed luckily.
We then got the correct dishes that were great, except the blue mussels that, while tasting good, had about half of the mussels not opened. I know closed mussels are not dangerous to eat, which a lot of people tend to think, but I tried to open them and only having chopsticks and not even being able to do it with my hands, I gave up. So unfortunately half of that serving was really not edible.
Lastly, when we finally asked for our check to our surprise, the sea weed salad was on it. I got the waiter over and asked her why, because we never ordered and she agreed to correct the mistake. Not sure how that ever made it on the check though, as we had never ordered it.
All in all, while the food was tasty, this was a weird experience and its rare we see 5 mistakes being made during a restaurant visit. Being in the industry myself I thought you would want to know this.

Stay away! Due to an error with Open Table scheduling over 2 days we were unable to make online reservations. Finally, as a final attempt we called directly (only availableat their convenience, of course), which in itself was a bad experience as we had to call a number of times (they evidently believe activating their voice message system is too inconvenient for their purposes). Anyhow, long story short, when finally speaking directly with staff we are confronted with a confrontational attitude as the respondent would rather assume their assessment of fact was correct rather than accept what the caller was seeing with their own eyes. Such poor customer service should never be accepted. And save the standard, 'sorry for the inconvenience. We strive to make the customer experience satisfactory.' You do not! A to any future plans to visit this establishment...hard pass.

Was surprised and very apprehensive about the several homeless folks in Palm Springs, who insisted on lecturing to us. The food and the restaurant's service more than made up for this inconvenience but that did impact the atmosphere of the place. The sushi and the drinks were excellent.

If you can sit inside at the bar or corner table, go. If not, skip. The outside space is not thought out for enjoyment of the beautiful food. Delicious, subtle and beautifully crafted sushi and cocktails deserve to be honored.
Reserve or go early. Hostesses want to make sure you have a good experience so don't hesitate to chat with them.

Food was ok, service was good, beware on the weekends they have a dj playing outside, wasn’t expecting to have a sushi dining experience with loud vegas style club music as a soundtrack. One of my favorite places to eat in Palm Springs. Very high quality fish, kind service and the atmosphere is not too loud. Sat at the bar last night and Sam the sushi chef hooked it up with a sampler of the albacore tataki appetizer. It was really yummy! If you’re looking for something light I would highly recommend it with sashimi and the wagyu carpaccio is a must. Thanks for a lovely dinner

UPDATE: This was my fav sushi spot ever. We come here 3-4 times per year for the last 3+ years. It’s very pricey but creative and delicious. Drinks are amazing and sushi is fresh. Love the DJ.
Unfortunately, the last two times we have been here the service has been atrocious. Food takes forever, drinks even longer and plates pile up on the tables. Most recently, we got there for an early dinner and it was 100*. There were only 3 tables filled and when we asked for a table in the shade, the host said they were all reserved. We were there for almost 1.5 hours and half of the shaded tables never had a single person sit in them. I do not know what has happened but this is a very special spot that is extremely expensive — the kind of spot you expect really great service and although it used to be amazing, the past 9 months has completely changed.
Really, really hoping they turn it around. Hire more people and if you can’t, at least train those you have to be helpful and apologetic if things aren’t going as expected.
Original review:
This is the best sushi I have ever had. We have yet to enjoy it in person due to COVID but we have ordered it twice as takeout and the whole family agrees — it’s perfect! Can’t wait to go in person when indoor dining resumes. It’s a must try!!

The reason I'm only giving service a 4 stars is because runners tend to "throw" stuff on the table. Not quite the quality of service we were used to until 18 months ago.

For the price, I expected more out of Sandfish. We had a big group and tried a bunch of different signature rolls as well as couple standalone items. The much-advertised octopus was just ok. The mussels were so bland I ended up skipping them entirely. The Scandinavian roll was nothing special and only wagyu and spider rolls stood out. I did also enjoy langoustine roll but mostly just the topping of deep fried lobster (?) chunks; the roll itself seemed like it was filled with imitation crab and didn’t taste like much.
Shishito peppers are not supposed to be spicy but these were filled with them. On the other hand, squash blossoms filled with cheese were amazing and probably one of the best items.
The drinks were hit or miss — great espresso martini but poorly balanced gin/cucumber cocktail that was missing sweetness.
Overall, very inconsistent and pricey experience.

Service was terrible, which was so sad! Hostess wasn’t welcoming or accommodating. Waiter was rude when we asked to move seats (the wind was so strong that when waitresses would walk past us with food for another table, the garnishes would fly off and hit me in the face). Very unapologetic. I get that you can’t control the wind but you can be as accommodating and apologetic and kind as possible. Food was as good as your everyday sushi joint. Nothing special, they just put flowery garnishes on top. Soy sauce tasted like actual dirt, very earthy in a bad way. Oh, and the wind was so strong it knocked my husband’s manhattan over and it spilled all over the table and they didn’t offer to get us a new one and still charged us for it. When you go to a nice restaurant, it isn’t just about the food. I can cook myself some dang good sushi. It’s about the service, atmosphere and experience. Overall was extremely dissatisfied with this place and will not be back. And, will tell all my friends who visit Palm Springs regularly to avoid this place.

Unacceptable service from the hostess stand. Rude and standoffish. Ruined the experience so much we had to leave early. One of the best meals we had in Palm Springs, and frankly some of the best sushi rolls I’ve ever had. The food is beautiful to look at, but more importantly, each part contributes to complex flavors and textures.

Girlfriend and I were craving sushi and was skeptical about sushi in the desert. The photos and pictures looked good on Yelp and Google reviews, and we were curious why is the price a bit on the high side. We decided to go but to offset the prices we decided to have a light dinner.
Food:
We ended up getting the beef gyoza, 2 scallop hand rolls, 2 salmon skin hand rolls, and the experiment roll. In all honesty, nothing really stood out as far as flavor; in fact there was nothing original about it. The beef gyoza being 16 dollars was mid; pan fried and flavorless and they served it with a sweet chili sauce that seems like it came out of a bottle you can find at your Asian grocery store; nothing wrong witth sweet chili sauce, but for 5 beef gyozas for $16, you would think there would be some special sauce or flavor that they would provide that’s made in house. The hand rolls were served with soft sea weed nori, the salmon skin was crispy, but the scallop did not seem as fresh as it should be. Lastly, the experiment roll was flavorless and the fish did not seem fresh as it should be either. They also said there would be snow crab in it, but it seemed that it was imitation crab and not the real snow crab we expected. They also love garnishing with micro greens. It seems like this is an easy cop-out to make it look “fancy.” I appreciate the presentation, but microgreens on everything though? It seems that it’s not very well thought out especially if they’re dousing the microgreens on rolls; it felt like I was eating a salad or a poke bowl. Maybe they’re also trying to mask the freshness or lack of flavor of the dishes. Either way there needs to be more intentionality and authenticity to the dishes if they want to charge these prices.
Ambiance:
We had no reservations so they said if the patio was ok in the sun and we said yes. Although looking at the ambiance for the outside patio they only had one umbrella. For being in Palm Springs I’m surprised they do not provide more ample shade such as umbrellas or an awning of some sort. The ambiance for the inside was cool though.
Service:
was good and might be the only thing going for this restaurant.
The bill:
Came out to $120 for an order of beef gyozas, 4 hand rolls, one roll and one sparkling water. Yikes and we didn’t even order any cocktails!
Overview:
I appreciate the effort of focusing on ambiance, but even then they missed some parts that’s important, such as providing ample shade for customers in the patio; they focused more on ambiance than the actual flavors of the food they serve. Maybe we didn’t order much, or maybe they had an off night or their head chef wasn’t there to oversee what was happening in the kitchen, but I cannot recommend this place.
If you’re curious about going just know you’ll be walking out with a deeper hole in your pocket than you already have in this type of economy. I really wish they would do better for future customers and for their own success.

I must express my disappointment at not receiving any response to my the email that I sent to the restaurant directly. It's disheartening to feel ignored, especially when offering feedback.
I am writing to express my disappointment regarding my recent dining experience (Friday, 3/8 @7PM) at your establishment. I had made a reservation two months in advance for a special occasion and unfortunately, the service and treatment we received fell far short of our expectations.
Despite our reservation, we were not seated until 30 minutes past our scheduled time. Furthermore, we were seated outside in a storage container with minimal heating and extremely loud music, despite my explicit request for indoor seating at the time of reservation. The discomfort caused by this arrangement significantly detracted from our enjoyment of the evening.
Additionally, the service provided did not make up for the inconvenience. It took an additional 30 minutes for us to receive our drinks, and throughout the evening, the Head Hostess (whose name I unfortunately do not know) spoke to me in a condescending manner, which made me feel as though I didn't have a good understanding of the situation. Her suggestion that any compensation for our experience would only be applied to a future reservation was not only unacceptable but added insult to injury.
As a loyal customer who has frequented your establishment on numerous occasions, I had high expectations for the service and experience provided, especially for such a special occasion. However, the series of mishaps and poor treatment we encountered have left me deeply disappointed. Fortunately for the group, the food was phenomenal as usual.
I attempted to reach out to the restaurant privately via email first and received no response as I was hoping that the feedback will contribute to improvements in your establishment's service standards. It is crucial to address issues with your reservation system and provide comprehensive training to your staff to ensure that all patrons receive the exceptional experience they expect and deserve. I believe that by taking proactive steps to enhance customer service, you can prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future and maintain the reputation of Sandfish Sushi & Whiskey as a premier dining destination.
I trust that you will consider this feedback constructively and take the necessary measures to elevate the overall customer experience at your restaurant.

Ran out of hot tea, drinks weren’t delivered until after the food. Sushi was overpriced, $27 for 6 pieces of sushi. Servers provided blankets and heaters since the weather was bad. They ran out of a lot, and the only thing they could offer was hot water. Edamame was horrible, barely any salt and soggy edamame.

The food is incredible! But my one and only complaint is the portions are terribly small!!! So this is best as a cocktail and a snack place. I ordered 2 sushi rolls, and the duck tacos and I was still hungry. This place is also very pricey for the portion sizes, but the quality, presentation, ambiance and service makes it worth it! It's always busy so make a reservation! Oh also did the dessert with the thick cookie things. Wasn't a fan of that dessert but the green tea Gelato is really good.

Cool concept, synthetic execution. If you must have sushi, try Sandfish but keep your expectations low. Overcharged for sake - menu price lower than I was charged on the receipt. Failed to even provide wasabi and ginger to our table. Asked for it later in the meal and it was brought without any gesture of making things right. Never asked if I wanted another cocktail, and I came ready to try at least three - their loss. Each dish was flavorless, rolls looked like a mess. Sashimi was slimy. Service was present but a little robotic. Couldn't leave the place fast enough. Far, far too many strikes for what should have been a home run.

How can sushi be so good in a desert?? I don’t know, but it is. My husband and I shared the sashimi platter and it was all so fresh and delicious. I did the omasake (sp?) cocktail, where you tell them the liquor you want and they surprise you. It was fabulous. Service was outstanding. We were seated on the patio in one of the crate (I’m making that sound terrible, but it’s cute). It was a chilly night and I would’ve preferred to sit inside, but the heaters made it comfortable. Plus, we didn’t have a reservation and they seated us right away.

3/4/24: we had dinner here after Day 2 of the BNP Paribas Tennis Tournament (at Indian Wells Tennis Garden). The hostesses and service staffs were friendly and courteous. Our server, Andy, was knowledgeable and helpful. I ordered the Hamachi Kama (3.5 out of 5), my wife enjoyed her Spider Rolls (a 3.5 out of 5), our friends ordered the Shredded Duck Bao Bun and Hamachi Kama. The presentation of the foods has gone downhill (blame that on C19) and the menu options are bleh (IMHO). Go here for great service and ambience, temper your expectation on the foods.
2/28/22: we went back (post C19), and we're glad that SS&W is still around. Service is still good, foods are just as good.
Very good service (Laura). Good foods and cocktails. Our friends liked the Old Fashioned and Scandinavian Sunset, I enjoyed my Omakase Yamazaki 12. The Stuffed Zucchini Blossoms were so so. The Lollipop was pretty and good, my wife enjoyed the Sandfish Roll. The Salmon & Avocado and Yellowtail Rolls were excellent. I really liked the Hamachi Kama. The prices were reasonable. If we come back to PS again, this restaurant is on my go back to list.

Amazing sushi place. Great atmosphere and really tasty sushi.

It's a little pricey but undeniably delicious! We really enjoyed everything we ordered. Fried zucchini blossoms were light and bursting with flavor. The langoustine tempura roll was loaded - again, pricey but worth it! We sat out on the front outdoor patio for my partner's birthday. Our server was beyond outstanding. I'm kicking myself that I have forgotten his name by this point.. but, he went out of his way to make our experience enjoyable - even offering and bringing out a different chair (I have a bad back and always do better with a flat seat) that I would be more comfortable in. His recommendations were spot on and his service was just all around superb at every step.

Well we were big fans of Sandfish since 2020 and we were eating here at least once a year when we are on vacation in Palm Spring. This year they lost out reservation and they placed us after some waiting time right infront of the DJ on the patio. We were 6 people for our daughters birthday and a normal conversation was impossible. just to loud. Miso soup was to salty. Each person reveided the meal at a different time, so 4 people were already finished when the other 2 reveived finally their meal. The staff was extremly stressed. We were very disappointed and will be not back.

The food was average. Our table was outside in a shipping container. Parking was difficult. Pricey for the experience.

Such a delight! Classy and delicious food, and service of a Michelin star restaurant but with a friendly flair. Thank you April and Jimmy! Knowledgeable servers, especially when it comes to whiskey and cocktail pairings with the different dishes. Highly recommend the sushi, sashimi, and the main entrees.
Great for a date night, group event, or late night spot. April and Jimmy were very thoughtful in helping to make a surprise brithday dessert arrive at the perfect moment to end the evening.
Pro tip: Open for seating until 10pm!

Mediocre Japanese food extremely expensive for what they serve you.

A lot can be said about this place. The food is good but extremely over priced. The pictures make it look like an inviting venue when it's anything but that.
Service was nice..but nothing special.
We won't return. There are so many great restaurants with good food and great service that offer a far better experience in the Valley.
Parking is nearly impossible and while the patio was littered with heaters 3 people in our group sat in the cold the entire time.
If I were to choose one word to describe Sandfish....Chaotic.

Stellar! The staff could not have been more attentive. Each roll, dish, or drink was inventive and incredibly delicious. I was really impressed at how quickly our food arrived at the table. Don't skip this one.

This restaurant in Palm Springs was recommended by multiple "top places to eat in Palm Springs" articles. The sushi here is imported from all over the world and was very high quality. Our server, Josh, has been serving here for 5+ years. He was very knowledgeable and an A+ server. We allowed him to pick all of his favorite dishes to serve our party of 5 and every single dish that came out was amazing! Our favorite dishes were the Sandfish and the octopus. We will be visiting this spot every time we visit Palm Springs.

Some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. How this is not a perfect 5 is a mystery to me. The quality of the food and service is exceptional. The space is also lovely. We’re ordering takeout tonight because our meal was so good there last night.

Best sushi I have ever had. I cannot recommend this place enough. The service was impeccable and they were extremely accommodating of my gluten allergy- even making extra dishes gluten free so the table can share.

We got the fixed menu and everything was a little bit on the tasteless side for the price that you pay. The best thing we got were a couple of sushi pieces.
The framing job for the art on the walls was a little outdated but the rest of the restaurant was nice.

I haven’t written many reviews here but I felt compelled to share our experience after what could only be described as a disastrous dinner at Sandfish.
Despite there being multiple missteps with our experience, I want to focus the most severe issue we encountered and provide some context to highlight the severity of what occurred. Someone in our party has been struggling with sobriety over the last few years and was even recently hospitalized as a result of alcohol dependance. As such, they ordered a non-alcoholic drink with dinner. When the server delivered the drink, he called out the name of the mocktail he was serving, which aligned with what had been ordered off the menu. After the rest of the table’s drinks were delivered, we realized that despite the servers calling out the ordered names of each of the drinks they set down on the table, that ALL 4 drink orders were incorrect. We soon discovered that as part of this mixup, they had served an alcoholic drink instead of an NA one. Luckily, the person had only taken one sip, but this to me is COMPLETELY unacceptable and in this situation, potentially very, very dangerous. When we (very politely) called this out to both the server and later, the manager, we were met with meek apologies and an assurance that we would be “taken care of” (which only resulted in them comping the $12 mocktail and giving us a small discount on the bill). With an issue this severe occurring, a good restaurant would and should have comped our entire meal. We had to plead with the manager just to comp the rest of the drink orders, which as mentioned previously, had all been incorrect.
To top it off, when the server brought the bill, she spent the first 2 minutes selling us on a speakeasy bar that was located down the street (clearly owned by the restaurant) and giving all 4 of us coupons for 15% off drinks at that bar. After what had occurred, this could not have been more insensitive, tone deaf, or senseless. We were speechless.
I understand that mistakes happen, but it was the combination of the mistake + how the restaurant handled it (poorly) that was unacceptable.

‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through Sandfish, not a creature was stirring, not even our server.
After sitting at the table for 45 minutes the order was placed by the four of us with care, in hopes that the food would eventually be there.
The guests were huddled outside in their winter threads, while visions of offensively over-priced sushi danced in their heads.
As the drinks were delivered long after due, and the staff scurried around with no clue, I sprang from my chair to return one of the drinks that tasted like poo.
Away to the bar I flew like a flash, all the while hoping I had enough cash.
I returned to the table hoping for food, but nothing was there yet, how rude.
When what to my wondering eyes did appear, some food we didn’t even order this year. Oh dear.
We finally received the entire order, but not without stress, my god what a mess.
Quick recap: Nobu prices, below average over-sauced food, terrible service. Run.

It's a bit noisy for a small restaurant but it's a nice place. Most of the food was really good, especially the fried shrimp. The service is not bad they keep up with you.

Being locals, we've tried to eat here a couple of times as walk ups. Decided to try again and boy was it disappointing. No veggie sushi on the menu but they had a "secret" menu item so I ordered it. Very small so I ordered another. Wife had mussels. I had a 22 oz beer and the total was $110. We are experienced diners and could tell they jacked up the prices for seasonal Christmas tourists.
Food was okay but nowhere close to the quality one would expect for the price. Will not recommend and will not eat here again. Worst dining experience in our 4 years here. Food is always good in Palm.Springs but not this place. We moved from Santa Barbara due to the average food and service. This was, by far, our worst experience with a restaurant in Coachella Valley.

Disappointing. The Miso soup tasted more like plain Dashi. Perhaps they forgot to add the miso paste. The Salanova Lettuce salad lacked flavor. The Koko roll was supposed to be sweet and spicy but it had no taste and wasn't in the least bit spicy. The dry salmon on top and the soggy tempura in the Koko roll left me with the impression that it was leftover from the night before. The rice was dry and tough on the Sushi Sampler platter. Service was good but some mains arrived before the appetizers.

Innovative menu that lived up to hype. Omakase cocktail was wonderful, spicy tuna Costa delicious, braised and grilled octopus over damage hummus was the most tender octopus I've had in years. Not a fan of rolls but the Sandfish roll was outstanding. Great assortment of whiskies. 5 star experience!

I tried the wagyu carpaccio, the California roll and the fried gyoza. The total bill was around $90.
The sushi was not that great in flavor (I lived in Japan for 4 years) and reminded me of the ones you buy at the supermarket. The size was small compared to other restaurants. We waited a while to be seated even though the place was not packed and there were a few empty tables. As for the wagyu carpaccio, save your money. The dish is pretty much extra thin layers of raw meat with almost no flavor. The gyoza was alright.
I really don’t know why it took so long to get service and food here, especially when my dish didn’t require to be cooked and the place wasn’t packed…(I really don’t wanna think it was discrimination for my skin color).
As for the service, the young lady at the entrance was nice, and so was the server.
As for the place, it looks pretty and clean.
If you want better-tasting food, with faster service, better prices and a closer feel to an authentic Japanese restaurant, go to Happy Sushi. Even the Japanese people go there to eat 😊

The restaurant is nice and the staff were excellent, but the food most definitely is not worth the price, I’ve had better sushi in Nebraska for a 1/3 of what I paid here. The sushi/rolls menu is rather boring and doesn’t offer much variety, all the rolls are very similar. The Nigiri menu is very short and ridiculously priced. The whiskey menu is extensive but they don’t actually have everything that’s on the menu, but they do still have a lot of options. All in all it’s not bad but it’s not great either, I do know I won’t be back.

Just another sushi place. Nothing special or unusual. Zero parking, which makes it far less desirable. Fairly extensive alcohol list, but more expensive than many other restaurants for the same brands.

Over expanded. There is one bathroom for the whole restaurant which expanded like the Romans just before the Visigoths descended. One bathroom for the capacity they host is a deal breaker!
I found the sushi rice to not be very sushi like. Service was good but the over expansion also resulted in extreme delays getting cocktails. Lots of sub par seating as well. Reserved a table but got stuck by the door entrance; which also was used by the staff to deliver/bus items. This resulted in food getting dropped on the sidewalk when it was bussed and a chaotic entrance for patrons as staff scurried out with a tray of drinks or food
Would not advise this restaurant. Wagyu carpaccio was good though.

I wish I could post the picture of the pathetic food. Tuna nigiri that you can see through for $18. 2 rolls for $47 that don’t fill a small to-go box. I’m shocked at the size, price, and quality. I don’t normally dog on businesses but this is nuts. I just paid $90 for convenience store sushi.

Very disappointing and seriously overpriced.
I booked Sandfish Sushi & Whiskey for our anniversary dinner based on reviews and the fact that it was on several lists as one of the best restaurants in Palm Springs.
I noted on the reservation that this was for a special occasion, but when we arrived, we weren't sited inside, instead they gave us a table on the patio in a shipping container which was bare of any decoration and super loud.
The food was just ok, definitely nothing exceptional ... I expected a lot more quality for the money.
Very very overpriced, service is barely passable.

Came here with my Mom, Dad, Sister, her Fiance Joel, and my Nephew. cannot say more about how amazing our waitress was, she was so accomodating to my nephew, bringing things for him to play with, suck on (teething), or just being sweet and attentive. the food was also amazing, if you dont get the Sashimi Sampler ur missing out. everything about this place was a pleasant surprise, from good sushi in palm springs to a pleasant atmosphere with delightful service.
I personally had the hamachi kama (yellowtail collar) and this is already one of my favorites, and i will say they prepared it EXCELLENT. was BOMB.

For what was constantly billed as "the best sushi in Palm Springs," we found it to be incredibly underwhelming. The service was fantastic, but the fish was just ok and the menu was rather bland and uninspired. I can see it being a phenomenon 15 years ago, but these days ok fish and unoriginal fusion just isn't anywhere good enough to make it past three stars. Especially not in California.
They also desperately need to put some sound dampening in. It's impossible to have a conversation in the dining room without yelling.

Highly recommended by word of mouth and on the infatuation. Overall, place was cool, lights of heat lamps to combat those desert winds, a helpful and warm waiter and solid sushi. The zucchini blossoms were good - very light on the batter which is my preference. We ordered four rolls of sushi but the koko roll and the venue roll were the favorites!

After so many good reviews, we had high expectations. We arrived on time but was left on the street waiting (which is far enough if previous patrons are still finishing off) after 15 minutes we were taken to a table that was actually ready since we arrived. The waiter promptly gave us water and took our drinks order but it then took over 20 minutes to get them (just wine and beer-not cocktails). When the food came - it was all brought at once and we asked them to stop and we would let them know we we wanted the next course- although there was a gap, they just brought it out without checking with us. The waiter spilt the soup as he knocked over a beer- accidents happen. We then went to use the bathroom to be told the only toilet they had was blocked- this should have been mentioned on arrival or when it happened.
Food was fresh and tasty but they have a lot to learn with regards to good service.

Really over-hyped. Decor is mid, appetizers were so-so, food came out rushed (with cocktails arriving near the end of the meal), and then we were aggressively upsold their "speakeasy" down the street. Would not recommend.

Update : well we finally got to eat inside and it was well worth it except our table was right next yo the single restroom and the at times long line. The food was truly works of flavor and art. The interior is visually well designed but the sounds carry . Please put that wonderful fried chicken back on the menu. our first visit to this new establishment we were to find ourselves perplexed, amused and delighted. Our confusion arose from the visual steel shipping containers we spied as we approached the restaurant which morphed into amusement as we were escorted onto the brand new outside deck and our cozy table inside said containers. The delightful aspect of our experience was our courteous server and her attention to detail explaining menu items and of course the exquisitely flavorful food we shared.thank you for this pleasant experience.

In Palm Springs and wanted sushi. We had been to this place before and were so happy it was so close to where we were staying.
We made reservations online for the two of us. Then we met another couple at the hotel that decided to join us. Reservations are definitely recommended as this place is popular. We called and asked to add two more to our party and it was no problem.
Because we made reservations only one day ahead we were only able to choose outside patio. Inside is smaller but the patio was great as the weather was warm.
We ordered drinks and they were out quickly. When drinks were delivered they took our order. Just minutes later the food began to arrive. Seaweed salad was great. Rolls are unique with names, flavor and presentation. They were amongst the best we have had. The sashimi plate was decadent but a little on the smaller side. Price point is on the higher end for sushi but quality and service match.
Next time we are in Palm Springs we will be going here too

AVOID! I found a shard of wood in my IN MY SUSHI that I nearly choked on.
When we informed the waitress, the manager attempted to brush off what happened.
Terrible service, choking hazard in food.
Our food arrived slow, was after we returned several drinks and dishes.
Avoid if you care about what’s in your overpriced food.

Delicious food. Kinda spendy, but we knew that going in. Drinks came out suuuuper slowly. So slowly that the server comped my second one, which made it right. Our server was so nice.

The restaurant is loud, dark and menu is difficult for anyone to read. Once you can finally see the menu the prices will make you lose your appetite. Outrageously expensive. Server was nice, but his timing was constantly off and several times interrupted conversation or awkwardly just stood there waiting. Guess Scandinavian style sushi isn't my thing...I'll just stick with the old Japanese style sushi.

Went here back in May for my birthday as I was in town on vacation. Such a cool atmosphere, some of the best sushi I’ve ever had and that’s coming from someone who lives near the ocean. In tonight, from Sacramento. Our time share, recommended Sandfish for Sushi.
Parking is an issue, if you did know that Parking is rare like Unicorns 🦄. We spotted one right in front of the restaurant. Our server was very good. I cannot remember his name. The accent was very strong.
The food we ordered was very good. The Venue Roll, spicy edamame, and the Albacore were excellent and presented nicely.

Look I don’t like to give bad reviews. But they need to step up their game. Service was I point and staff was lovely!! But the food omg. The rice was the worst sushi rice I ever had in my life. The omakase menu is a joke big big time. The worst omakase menu I ever had and they charging like if you are in a one Michelin star omakase. This is a shame.

Sadly didn’t get to sample any food. Was sat directly next to the restroom with plenty of other tables available. Smell was terrible so we left.

Indoor tables by the door means you're subject to the fan going off every time the door opens. It was a pretty disruptive dining experience so choose outdoor tables if that bothers you.
The sushi was okay. Nigiri was better than the rolls which tend to be heavy on sauce. Great place for drinks.

This is a chic little sushi spot in the heart of Palm Springs. The prices are a bit steep but the food seemed to be of high quality and that’s definitely what you want when having sushi! We tried the chicken gyoza, spider roll, California roll, and various sushi. Everything was very good and the service was great. The staff were friendly, and very knowledgeable about the items on the menu. This is a great date night spot. It’s a small restaurant, but they also have a nice outdoor seating area.
