Incredible views of DTLA, open air, yet covered, excellent, and extensive menu. There are tons of cold sake to choose from, special rolls, classic rolls, and fun appetizers. Also, they have a plentiful dessert menu. Service was fast and friendly. Ambiance at dinner was very romantic and dimly lit. Wonderful location and quality.

Our "foodie" son went with us to Takami, a rooftop sushi haven that we frequent. The view is spectacular and the food is always top-notch! They've added a wagyu hot plate dish that was delicious. They will also accommodate a request for the wasabi chopped root! We had a blast

It was our first time going to this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary when we first walked in we definitely enjoyed the inside and outside view and that was only thing that we did enjoy.

When we were approached by the host she asked about our reservations and she immediately grabs menus and walks way ahead of us to our table it’s like we had to speed walk to keep up with her.

When we sat down a man came and started placing things on the table for the sushi completely putting his hands in our face without even saying anything and walks away.

Then the server comes and ask if it’s our first time and we said yes and he immediately tell us that the kitchen is made up of 3 different kitchens and they are never on time with orders and cooking so everything will come out at different times. Very nonchalant doesn’t say his name he doesn’t even try to make it seem like we are about to enjoy our dinner. He had a very long face and just looked so un happy to be at work.

We were still just trying to enjoy our time since it was for our anniversary.

LET ME TELL YOU THE FOOD WAS HORRIBLE

TASTE LESS
COLD WHEN CERTAIN DISHES SHOULD HAVE BEEN HOT
LOOSE SUSHI ROLLS
SLIMY AND WET
MUSHY

We tried to continue to eat but I completely lost my appetite when I put a piece of sushi in my mouth and it was complete slop no texture at all and miso soup was doused and miso I immediately spit it out and just asked for our check.

Fastest dinner I have ever had because I just wanted to leave we were there for barley an hour and with all the horrible taste and smell we asked for our check and asked to have some items removed that we could barley put in our mouth.

When we asked for the check the server tried to become more friendly all of a sudden because it was tipping time.

OVER ALL ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE
I FEEL LIKE ONLY GOOD REVIEWS ARE FROM PEOPLE DISTRACTED BY OTHER THINGS…

Takami is one of our favorite place to go for sushi 🍣 and cocktails. 🍸 Been here for many times and been going here for over 8 yrs now. They have great service and their bartenders are amazing. We had our company holiday luncheon and the event director was really a wonderful guy. Our server and bar tender Cole was super nice 👍🏻
I always recommend this place. By the way, nice venue too. Great place for any celebrations 👍🏻

A family member came in town at the last minute so I randomly chose Takami as our destination. I'd never been before, but I was highly impressed with the rooftop, the ambiance, and THE SERVICE. Can we talk about our waitress Megan? Chef's kiss!! She was so sweet and attentive and cool. Very thoughtful and you can tell she truly cares to make sure everyone's experience is tip top. PLUS. When we left to head out, here she comes running to us because I forgot my purse on my chair! Literally was so grateful for her. I hope everyone gets to experience Megan when they go!

It was hit or miss, the yellow fin was great and the Beef Tatak was also very good but pricey for the amount of meat. Another big issue the waiter said the kitchens doesn’t communicate with hot and cold dishes and food might come out at different times :( my guest got their sushi and I had to wait another 20 min + for my entree? I was also not a fan of the chopped tuna in the rolls but that could be my personal preference.

The huge miss was the Beef filet mignon. I ordered medium and served well done, it also lacked seasoning. I would have sent it back but I was with a client and did not feel comfortable in front of my client sending back, plus I was very hungry and did not want to wait again. For the prices they charge you should have a more experienced person cooking in the kitchen.

While the view was nice and the heaters were cozy… I’m afraid the food didn’t meet my expectations especially for the price point it was at. I’ve had way better sushi rolls for the same price. If you are looking for an “upscale” experience with drinks and service, by all means come here. However, for a culinary experience I wouldn’t recommend it. It seems like they prioritize their ambiance over their sushi and sell you a view. I’ve had better tasting sushi at a buffet than here. Food was very mediocre. Women’s bathroom had no toilet paper and one of the stalls was broken so you couldn’t even close the door. The price you pay you’re getting mediocre sushi and broken bathroom stalls! Nonetheless an experience is an experience

I had heard both positive and negative feedback about Takami Sushi & Robata so decided to try it for myself. In summary it is not a place that I would return to because there are a lot of other Sushi & Robata Restaurants in LA that offer better quality food, and several other with better view.
We tried several different appetizers, sushi and robata dishes ($500 worth) but neither of them gave us an ahh moment.

Soo i beging with this made a 630pm reservation for my daughters 21st birthday i was asked for a reservation deposit 🤔 witch being a Bartender myself for over 20yrs i had no clue places or this place would ask for a dinner deposit i found it kind of weird also they charged a card processing fee they dont tell you tgey add on your tab $11.48 on top of the already added service service fee of $63.80 off a
$ 319.00 tab with sales tax of $36.37 now i have worked on tips my hole zzbartending carreer but i dine out as well and uf the service or food is terrible then you are stuck tipping and paying these unknown fees ..

Anyhow the food was great the rolls are really small compared to my original sushi spot in Downey but they were good they did forget 1 of our apps came late we had to ask for it .. they did give my daughter a free bday desert that was nice ..

It was kinda dead i had a toddler with my party of 7 she was goid not crying but they sat us in a ugly conner or the restaurant witch was covering their storage area with bamboo the place was pretty dead there was soo much nicer seating idk why we got such a crummy spot anyhow i didnt complain i saw the much better seating as we were leaving our server was great on top of everything bussers were very helpful too . The restrooms could use a makeover too very old looking and outdated need a paint job an new fixtures ..

I dont think ill be going back but this is my honest review of my personal experience ..

It was quite an experience with 98 years of marriage among us the conversation was enriching. The atmosphere and ambiance were perfect. We sat outside to enjoy the view. I would recommend sitting outside if you want to take in the city life while having the freshest food.

Rooftop bar and sushi restaurant, can't eat this dynamic duo combination. Valet parking was easy, had to drive through the alley and $12 fee covered until 3a for those that want to dine and then party after. I had reservations and had to wait 5-10 minutes, however was completely fine since there is a full bar in the reception area. Ambiance was nice, dimly lit so you can enjoy the views of the LA skyline. Had a table outside, which was perfect and already warm due to the various wall mounted heaters throughout. The restaurant has 3+ different kitchens for sushi, warm dishes and grilled foods, providing a versatile Japanese menu. The drinks were also amazing... Tokyo Mule, yes 2 please!!!
Appetizer and food came extremely quick, only wait time was on the drinks, which wasn't that long and definitely worth the wait.

Food was excellent, my friend and I were I. La for 2 days, and we were recommended this place. Drinks were pretty good as well, some of the service was a little slow, but my issue was the front telling us we couldn’t have a seat at a table because they had “a lot of reservations that night”. We sat in their lounge couch area, but not once during the about 1-1.5 hours while we were there were all tables full. We could have easily been sat at a 2 person table.

These folks decided to double the restaurants capacity for Valentine’s Day. We had a reservation at 9:15, we were sat down at around 10:00. They ran out of room at the actual restaurant so they set up rows of foldable plastic tables and chairs in the club area, where all the windows are open, so we are exposed to the LA night, dressed as if we were going to dine inside, it’s cold.
We ordered our food, 2 soups, 1 entree, 3 rolls, a bottle of sake. Soups and entree take 40 minutes to roll out. It’s 11, my date is freezing, I’m freezing, by 11:20 we still don’t have our food. Had enough by 11:30 and left. They tried to appease us by taking the sushi we didn’t even get the chance to touch off the bill. I would give 1 starts for management of the situation, the server saved it enough to make it 2.
I’m sorry but this was out of control, you cannot just sit people outside in the cold when they came dressed to dine in. You knew this was going to be a problem before it was a problem. Next time call me 4 hours before (you already had confirmations) tell me you are over booked, give me my deposit back and let me plan my life accordingly.
Not recommended.

I have never experienced a more wheels-fallen-off dining service than at Takami's St. Valentine's Day Massacre. Having parked in the nearby garage, in the building's lobby we saw firemen engaged in rescuing people from a stuck elevator, as we boarded a different elevator, which thankfully conveyed us to the 21st floor. It's too bad that we did not understand that the spectacle in the lobby was merely an omen of the misfortune which was yet to come.

I had booked a 7 PM reservation the previous week, paying a $30 deposit for my wife and I. But it seems that having a "reservation" in no way implies that this restaurant has the capacity to adequately serve everyone who has one, judging by the patron-to-server ratio I observed,

I doubt that there was any limit whatsoever to the number of reservations which Takami was willing to accept for that evening. I can only attribute the egregious overbooking to absolute GREED on the part of Takami's ownership or management.

I had booked our table in the Elevate Lounge section of the restaurant, having seen photos of the picturesque views over DTLA. The view was indeed nice, but what I didn't know beforehand was that Elevate is an OPEN AIR LOUNGE, which means that in mid-February it is FREEZING COLD.

I pretty quickly regretted opting for the lounge, and my wife went back to the hostess to inquire about whether we could move the main restaurant where it was warmer, but was told it would probably be another hour wait, so we decided to soldier on in the lounge.

After being seated, it took about 40 shivering minutes for our order to be taken by the server. In about another 40 minutes we were served our main course. Then 15 minutes later we received one of our two appetizers along with the drinks we had ordered over an hour ago. After another 15 minutes they kindly brought the second appetizer we had ordered so long ago.

The food was OK pedestrian Japanese fare - I found the quality acceptable and the prices were not out of line. I don't blame the employees for all the problems. They seemed to be working hard to get through a very difficult night.

I won't go through all the details of trying to get the check and paying it, but let it suffice to say that we were on the 21st floor for well over two and a half hours before we could leave. As we left late in the nine o'clock hour, there was an even bigger queue of patrons trying to get seated. I felt sorry for them, knowing that things would be even worse for them.

My parting thought is: SHAME on the management of Takami Sushi. Their greed and their indifference toward their guests' experience demonstrates their utter incompetence, and their absolute inability to manage ANY kind of business.

Came here for Valentine’s Day and was such a horrific experience. We got seated in the over flow area of the nightclub with folding chairs and a makeshift table. The heaters were practically nonexistent and it was freezing. We originally wanted to order the omakase menu but didn’t want to be in an area where we could not enjoy ourselves so I asked the hostess to move us to somewhere more comfortable and warm. We only ended up getting moved within the same area of the nightclub closer to the bar. We ended up deciding to order off the regular menu as we were already upset at this point. When our food arrived it was very sloppy, tasteless and nothing to hype over. The kitchen was spitting food out so quickly it wasn’t even done well. Our rice was falling off of our rolls as it wasn’t even packed together. Our drinks didn’t arrive until half way done. Our appetizers came at the end and they forgot about part of our order. Following this, I overheard our server talking to another table saying he had around 30 tables. Eventually we waved down our server, received our cheque and left as soon as possible. As a previous server in a restaurant I understand holidays can be stressful for establishments but this was disgracefully handled by management and owners and they should have been better prepared and properly staffed. We will never be returning here!!

Got reservations for Valentine’s Day and it cost $15 deposit per person might I add. We also paid for valet which was $12. We got seated on these makeshift tables and it was apparent it was as way understaffed. We got sat and it took 30 mins and still no server. I asked a table next to us how long it took to get their food. They said 40 mins. After 30 mins of waiting I got up and asked is it normal to be waiting this long before even getting service. The bartender told me they added too many tables to accommodate and he would flag down a server to come see us. No server came. I flagged down a food runner and he told me they are way overbooked and understaffed. We ended up leaving because this level of service is honestly unacceptable. Just the pure fact that they decided to add a ridiculous amount of tables without the proper amount of staff truly shows they do not care about the experience or service. All they care about is the money. That’s all I needed to know about this place and I will never return. Why add that many extra tables without the proper amount of staff to accommodate. I legit left and went to Pink’s hotdogs and saw patroons that were there and also left. Would it have been a better experience not on Valentine’s day? I guess we will never know. Robbed of $42 and robbed of a proper Valentine’s date. Boooooooo.

I went to this restaurant on Valentine's Day and... a group of people were stuck inside the elevator as we walked in. After we were seated in makeshift tables with foldable chairs in the neighboring elevate lounge, we waited an hour and a half before even receiving our drinks, and nearly two hours before receiving food. When we did receive our food, we got our main dish first without the appetizers and then when we asked for the check, it took nearly 20 minutes and us walking up to the front just to be noticed. Would. not. recommend.

We came in for lunch and sat on the patio overlooking the building beside that has a lovely garden, with huge windows separating us from the chilly winds. I liked our sushi enough, but it definitely wasn't my favorite, unfortunately. Of the items we ordered, I enjoyed the Sashimi feast roll the most which was piled in chunked variety of fishies and the miso soup was definitely on par. The spicy tuna crispy rice was my least favorite part... but my tea came in a very cute pot. Price was definitely too high to return but the views made it a great one time date with the hubby.

Five stars for the bar tenders that served us. 0 stars for the host who refused to seat us. Went here for dessert. We checked OpenTable, and there were plenty of open reservations, so we simply didn't make a one. When we got there, the host asked if we had a reservation, we said no, and he said, "all of our waiters are prioritizing prepping for reservations, you can sit at the bar." So we asked if we should make a reservation using OpenTable (still plenty open reservations at that point) and he said, "I'm telling you, we are getting ready for other tables." It was bizarre. We sat at the bar and were served by a couple of fantastic and friendly bar tenders. The atmosphere and views are great from the rooftop restaurant... of which you don't get when sitting at the bar.

For the price(we spent about a grand), I've definitely had better sushi for cheaper, but they were good. The dragon roll was my favorite. The drinks were good. I had Yakuza and a Japanese old fashion. Not for the bad. We had a table of 11, and we had to constantly ask for water. When we got water, we didn't get cups. Orders couldn't be remembered some of the drinks were wrong, and they were even bringing food that wasn't ours. We waited an hour and a half for the check after asking multiple times and when we got the check it was wrong several times. You'll probably be better going in snake groups of you try this place. I don't know if I'll go back though. Also didn't like any of the desserts.

The ambience is downright futuristic and has a full moon suspended in the entry dining area and while hoisted into the skies over DTLA : it gives village and local neighbors vibes! Joycelyn the hostess with the mostess made sure we were aware of exact happy hour cut off times so we could keep the sushi rolls coming! They have great deals & the best interior design! After 4 months in Europe , we were sooo overdue for good sushi . So , here we are all the way from Westwood to Takami for the wonderful dishes we knew they had .

The Sensational rolls ,the Gyoza , the Tempura were v v good , as expected .

The Crispy Tuna Rice had the rice WAY over cooked , chewy and hard to bite it . The tuna on top tasteless and almost non existent . Such a butchered order .

The Spicy Tuna Rolls were worse than in a grocery store. The tuna was a TASTELESS paste ! I do not think I ever had it as bad ever .

The Japanese Taco , my favorite , had a strong VERY FISHY SMELLING , disgustingply mushy / very pasty consistency and a bitter / bad taste to it .
I took 2 bites& I just felt something was really wrong , not safe to eat . I informed the server & gave them back .
I had this tacos for years & I knew the texture and how they usually taste , no doubt they were bad .
Something was really wrong , probably a left over from the day before at the bottom of a bowl they wanted to use it . You could not taste the tuna , crab or shrimp . I am really happy I did not have more of them because the little I had I could feel my stomach was not happy about later on .

The Yellow Tail and Albacore Sushi had hardly any fish on , the rice took over the fish taste .! The prices went way up there , the fish went all the way up low !

All in all , the experience was not what we were looking for . very disappointing. How low on quality do they think they can go before losing customers ? Or somebody getting sick ?
I do not know ,do they have a new chef ? Is this the problem ?. For so many years everything was just consistently very good . never disappointed.
If so , definitely it is not a good one . Time to look for somebody else .
The only highlight part was our server Cordoba who tried to make our evening bearable . We had him 3 times before & really, really liked him . Nice , friendly, polite and very personable .
We will try this place again , hoping everything it will be up to par . If not , time to move on .

We had dinner here for the third time last evening. Sadly, our experience of the food does not match most of these reviews. We like the atmosphere and the service is generally friendly and prompt although the dishes are usually served in an odd sequence and rhythm. The sushi size is a bit smaller than expected for this atmosphere and price range. This time, as with the previous two, the sushi was rather bland and unimpressive. The Shishito peppers are delicious and the calamari is OK. The black truffle filet was bland and lacked flavor. The lamb chops were good but not as warm as they should have been and arrived long after all the other dishes had been served. The molten chocolate yuzu cake was very good but the coffee was not hot. This is all too bad as we enjoy these surroundings and the staff is generally friendly and efficient.

Probably my top five sushi spots in downtown Los Angeles. Excellent customer service and the food quality is up there.

The bar side is my favorite chill spot with real cool/awesome bar tenders. I recommend the calamari, stuffed pepper, churro waffle, their hand rolls and most of their menu. The scallops is great, hand rolls and most of the menu.

Reservation recommended to avoid the longer waits, but the bar side might be a better bet if you’re just a walk in.

Successfully reserved through their website, which led to/used open table. Unfortunately, received a cancellation notice email from open table and a voicemail directly from the restaurant cancelling less than 24 hrs prior to reservation on a Saturday night. They stated the entire restaurant was rented out for a VIP event, but if I would like to book for that I could. That statement contradicts itself and made me think In other words, they had closed their restaurant themselves to run a special menu. Open table allows reservations for special seating and events and I in fact saw their special seating when I reserved but it allowed normal seating and menu also. They failed to adequately update open table. I think being honest with their language and updating their reservation system flow through in a timely and accurate manner would have been more professional and honest. We are scrambling for reservations now and entirely put out by being misled not once but twice.

This is a very lovely place, with a lovely atmosphere right between the buildings, overlooking the skyline of downtown los angeles. The food here is some of the best in the area. Love the selection and freshness of the sushi. The service was okay until it came time to pay. I had a groupon and the assistant manager told me that the tip was included. Now, I've been a Groupon fan and user for a long time and the tip is never included. It even tells you on the website to tip generously. It's just a manager took it upon himself to add a twenty two percent tip. The waiter did do a great job and I would have given that to him, but it was the principle of adding something that I didn't ask him to, nor did he have to. If you get service from Nile, you're in for a treat, and please tip my man generously. Also, be sure to try the fresh edamame, life changing.

Atmosphere, atmosphere, atmosphere. This restaurant definitely has it. AND the food is great.

Angus fillet robota, rolls (surf & turf, spider, and spicy tuna), cocktails (and their non-alcoholic counterparts)... all great... and all while overlooking downtown Los Angeles at night.

Nice spot for sure.

I wasn't a sushi eater until I came here for my sister's birthday dinner in 2021. Since then I've made many return trips and most recently made it a monthly habit, since returning to my workplace located nearby. I love the ambiance.
Any restaurant can have a bad day but I haven't yet caught them on one; I have received great service and warm vibes from the staff each time I've come. I haven't yet tasted one appetizer, specialty drink, roll, or dessert that I didn't like but my favorites have been "the 21st" and DTLA rolls; the calamari, rock shrimp tempura, and crispy eggplant apps; sea bass entrée, Tokyo mule, and tiramisu. I haven't come across a restaurant matching the experience I have here. It can get cold on the patio on cool or rainy days but the heaters help some. For me, it has the perfect mix of great food and drinks, decor and views, and service. Though sushi in general may not (yet) be at the very top of my "favorite food" list, this restaurant is at the top of my favorite restaurant list, and I hope it sticks around for a long time.

Visited the restaurant with my family while on a family road trip from LA to SF. Picked the restaurant due to the decent rating (4.5) on google and proximity of the establishment to the hotel we are staying at. Here are our experience (we are a well traveled family who love Japanese food, and have travelled all over Japan and Asia):

- Atmosphere: good, if you like the roof top, trendy vibe.

- Service: waiter was friendly, but seem short handed and overwhelmed. Took a long time for the food to arrive. There was a couple sitting next to us who were getting really frustrated with their food not being served. The waiter told them that the kitchen was overwhelmed by a large group which cause the delay.

- Food: probably one of the worst Japanese food experience we ever had. My sons rated the nigiri sushi combo even below average Kaiden sushi places like Sushiro. The fish were not great and the workmanship was amateurish (the California rolls were made in such sloppy manner, my sons indicated that they could have done a better job). And the miso soup that my son ordered tasted funky according to him. If you know your sushi or Japanese food, definitely stay away from this place.

Overall, only go if you want the roof top experience…

To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. They served our drinks in smudged and dirty plastic cups, no glass! No presentation. I would avoid going here if you have other options.

I Made reservations over a month in advance for a Valentine’s Day dinner. Upon arrival, we checked in with the host , he confirmed with us that they would be able to accommodate window seating… not true. Not only did we not get window seating, they put us in the middle of a dance floor on the elevate lounge next door. The chairs were super uncomfortable. And the whole set up was very unpresentable, some of the chairs were miss matched other ones were the type you find in a cheap quinceañera. I actually witnessed a few couples get up and leave after being seated.

We asked if we could switch seats and they said they would not be able to do to high demand. It’s ridiculous how none of this was mentioned when I made the reservations. Moving forward with the night, I ordered drinks and was absolutely shocked. When I picked up my plastic cup…. No glass, but they used plastic cups to serve wine and bourbon. All of our drinks were served in smudged, scratched up plastic cups. They had monitors set up displaying cute Valentine’s Day hearts flying in a pink backdrop, too bad 2/3 of the monitors were broken. Very cheap presentation considering the price I paid for everything.

I get with this place It’s a higher price point due to the views and atmosphere, and I was totally on board with that but the fact that we did not get seated in the main restaurant and instead we got sent to what could be compared to as the kids table.

I am not sure if the manager on duty just didn’t care, or did not have the coordinating skills to make this night a success, but I was extremely let down by my first time visiting this place. The only reason I gave them two stars instead of one is because most of the staff was friendly and attentive, considering how busy they were, the food was actually good. Severely disappointed with the bait and switch that occurred, I have never been bamboozled this hard by a restaurant.

Edit, the restaurant never got back to me, they just replied to my review, asked me to reach out, and when I reached out nothing was done.

Was my first time eating here so was unsure what to expect. The fact you could scan a QR code, order, pay and wait for the food to come to you is great! Honestly I wanted to be able to leave this restaurant a great review. Unfortunately my experience didn’t go as expected. I believe there is a new owner, so maybe they changed the quality of seafood they’re purchasing? The ambiance is off. There was also a woman walking around who claimed to be a manager but she didn’t seem to be dressed properly for the scale of this restaurant. I’ve been here before and have never seen the servers/waiters use IPads before. The iPads are a bit bulky and don’t go with the restaurant vibe. Long wait times for drinks as well as food. I could understand if it were the weekend but it’s not, it’s a Monday night. Service shouldn’t have been that slow. My server/waiter TC was great, very attentive. Hostess was nice. THE BATHROOMS… please has anyone ever been in the woman’s restroom, smells like the kitchen staff throws away the rotten food in there. I do not recommend this restaurant, please go somewhere else the view isn’t worth it.

This place is awful. The hostess was practically 14 years old and completely lacked all customer service skills. The manager, Jackie, is useless at resolving conflict. Our waiter, Cordova, was sloppy and way too casual when he first greeted our table. He forgot several things from our order throughout the night. He seemed overwhelmed and clueless. The food is okay but overpriced for the service that they offer. I think this place is barely surviving when it comes to the restaurant industry. From the minute you step off the elevator to the moment you walk out… this place is trash.

- Hostess gave us an attitude but he got nicer towards the end.

- Worst of all, they added a 20% SERVICE CHARGE. What a way to rob your customers.

I was pretty excited booking this place in advance for Valentine’s Day. I thought the ambiance was such cool location being high up with downtown high rises , but too bad it was a cold night. They had outdoor heaters but not warm enough due too high winds that night. Definitely went all out by getting Japanese tacos, calamari, scallops, Tamaki roll and sashimi set. TBH, it’s not the best quality sushi, sashimi for the amount you’ll be spending. We had the Tokyo Mule and Japanese Negroni which were both okay. It was a nice touch them offering free souvenir photo for Valentines. I would give this place more of kudos for the view, but I would not recommend this place if your looking for great sushi. There’s cooler ambiance out there for the high price you’ll be paying especially when they charge a 20% service fee which is definitely new for us unless it’s due to Valentines Day. I was expecting much more but definitely a story to share.

Found a deal for this place on Groupon so thought it would be a decent affordable way to do a date night. There was a host and hostess and neither of them seemed really friendly. We originally chose to sit inside but was seated against a wall and very close to a couple on the table over, so we opted to sit outside to get more intimacy. I will say the ambiance and view were nice. Our server was friendly and we had no complaints with the food. What bothered me the most was the discrepancy in the bill. Our total was $105 after tax and they add the 15% gratuity to your bill automatically which for mine was ~$15. The Groupon was for $80 so that leaves $25+$15 gratuity which the itemized receipt reflected. When the server came back with the receipt for payment the new receipt only shows included gratuity as $6 and the other $9 of it was shifted to the total amount so showed as $34 instead of $25 making it appear as I was tipping less and should add an additional tip... pretty deceiving if you ask me.

If you want the most horrendous and miserable dining experience of your life this is the place for you! Imagine this: New Years and pouring rain. First, the staff said they had to rearrange the whole restaurant because of the "unexpected rain", yet rain was on the weather forecast for a week. It would be understandable if the rain came out of absolutely nowhere. They then had everyone wait in the elevator area and said they would call names and seat everyone. This of course did not happen and it was a push and shove to try and get seated. Then, we were all told that there was only outdoor seating available and we would not get wet-- if you did not want to sit outside, too bad go home. When we were finally seated half an hour after our reservation, we did indeed get wet. The outside seating was cold and a good amount of rain came in. A good amount of time after we sat down our waiter came and took our order-- all was good right? WRONG!! An hour and a half later only 2/4 of the drinks came and a cold plate of calamari. After this we ask our waiter where the drinks are at least and to this he is confused as to what other drinks were ordered. He then continues to list off drinks asking which ones were ordered- none of the drinks were right. Once we hit hour 2 we notice that food is being delivered to the wrong tables. This is understandable if the food is being delivered to the next table over, but no, dishes were being delivered to the wrong tables almost 4 tables over. At hour 2 we ask where most of our food is and to this we were told chicken we ordered was not yet defrosted. As our food is being brought out we noticed that the wrong amounts of food are being brought out, but we accepted the loses at this point. At this point some of our neighbors had gotten up and left-- go them! At least 5 things we ordered were never brought out. For an almost $500 bill for 4 people not worth it!!

It's rare when I'm tempted to leave a restaurant; however, given the lack of acknowledgment by Ivy and the look of annoyance at our large party, I was tempted.

We selected this restaurant based on a Groupon purchased last week; the voucher states in bold letters that it can be used between Monday and Thursday, but in the fine print, the restaurant blocked off all dates until January 2nd.

To make up for the hassle we received at the front, Scott was kind enough to bring some complementary edamame which was enough to keep our party. The rolls we ordered were fine, but given the expense, it is a shame that the quality was unmet. Additionally, the shades on the terrace were down, which didn't allow us the view we were hoping to gaze at. The sashimi platter was simple and delicate. However, certain pieces were slightly warmer than I would have appreciated. The salmon carpaccio was delicious and the crispy roll with spicy tuna was a simple yet crowd-pleasing appetizer. To commemorate a special occasion we were celebrating, Scott provided us with an array of desserts to complement the ones we had already ordered; the matcha ice cream was delectable to the point that a party member reminisced of a trip in a Tokyo province. The creme brulee was inferior, and I would avoid it in the future. The presentation of the dessert platter was spectacular!

Finally, the restaurant, while easy to locate, had some horrendous elevators. We were stepping on cardboard from an Amazon shipment on the way down. If grunge with expensive so-so sushi is your jam, come here. All this restaurant has to offer is the view, which may not always be available.

In an era of short staffed restaurants with average food quality Takami separates themselves from the pack. The seared tuna was fantastic, the waiter (the black guy) was incredibly attentive and kind, he truly went above and beyond to give us the best dinning experience. I feel terrible for not remembering his name. I wish I could clone him and have him in every restaurant in America. The service was so good. I, a cis-gendered straight man wanted to kiss him in the mouth just to show my appreciation.

I had forgotten what a 5 start dinning experience was supposed to be until now. 100% recommend, and I will go back. The only thing that disappointed me was the no toro and uni available the day I went.

Food is terrible, sushi had Saran Wrap in it. Staff was rude and careless. This is a tourist trap and the view is mostly just other buildings, not much of a skyline at all.

Absolutely loved it. The attention to detail from our server Cordova was of the highest quality.

The food:

-Miso soup
-Scallops on the Half Shell
Oven baked baby scallops in an herb garlic butter
-Shrimp tempura
-Takami Roll
Spicy albacore & cucumber topped with peppered tuna & yellowtail with jalapeño ponzy
-Spider Roll
Soft shell crab, kanikama crab, avocado & cucumber wrapped in seaweed & soy paper
-Lychee Mojito
Bacardi superior rum, splash of Hana lychee sake, fresh lychee juice, soda & fresh muddled mint & lime

Amazing quality and great product!

100/100 will definitely be back for more

You can find sushi just as good or better somewhere in the hood in South LA prolly, the location is pretty nice but it feels like one pays for that and the experience, food quality doesn't really match that. Staff is friendly but could be a lil more on top of things. It's a spot worth going to for the one time, or even twice

The sushi is good and some items are pretty memorable. The Robata is a little expensive, but very good. Terrific views from the restaurant, but it gets very noisy if they're having a big event at their bar next door.

A must try place, especially if you are going out on a date and want to have a nice night out in the city. It overlooks downtown LA, beautiful city lights, nice restaurant atmosphere, great staff!
