A modern upscale Japanese Restaurant located in Elk Grove serving unique flavors of Japan.
The atmosphere was really nice. It's deceptive from the outside. It looks smaller but once inside it's roomy. They are in the process of changing ownership but the food is good and the service is prompt. I had a bento box lunch special with mixed tempura. It was really good. If you're a fan of Japanese food/sushi you will like this place. I recommend it to you.

All the sushi rolls are really yummy. We ordered spider roll, Elk Grove roll and spicy salmon roll. We also ordered some Nigiri which are all very delicious. We were there on Sunday night dinner time. They're so busy and some of our orders came really late. However the waitress is very nice and kept apologizing for the delay. So overall, we like the foods here and will come back again.

I believe this is my 5th time here. I definitely say it improves a lot and I still love it. The sweet potato and chicken kaarage was really delicious. I also ordered the evergreen roll since my husband can't eat sushi. It also tastes good. I feel like the ramen servings improve too. It was bigger now and more soup. My husband likes it. I will come back here again for sure.

Fujiya, the environment and atmosphere was calm for the lunch time which made it very nice and intimate. Lunch was with my lovely ladies of my house. We all got something different since this was our very first time being in here. The soy wrapped sushi was a nice twist in sushi roll that allowed for more of the fish flavor to come through. The fried mushrooms were absolutely next level. The firecracker sushi roll was dressed up so beautifully that it was hard to eat it as we messed up the food art. Overall it was a very pleasant experience. I would recommend this place. The place will be nice to see for a dinner time experience as well.

Food there was simply amazing. For my ramen bowl, I got a bit of extras because it was my birthday so why not treat myself. 😂😂
The bento was good too. Don't judge but I definitely love food and how much I eat goes to show just that. The drinks there was a bit expensive, but it was worth trying. Loved it.
Our server was a bit behind in terms of keeping up even when I had made a reservation for a group of 9. I'd assume they'd be a bit more prepared in terms of handling larger groups but it is what it is. No sweat. 😊

This review is related to our first and second Fujiya visit. We were pleasantly surprised to receive consistency ina areas, food, service, and atmosphere. We arrived during rush hour dinner and our wait was reasonably short. Our palette included a nice cold sake selection to compliment our omakase sashimi, ramen, Sakura roll, and ema ebi. Beautiful presentation, fresh sushi, and filling roll. We sat at the bar, enjoying the artists at work. Great job, we'll be back.

I like sushi but you never know what you’re going to get when you go into a new sushi restaurant. I think this may be the best sushi I have ever had. The food was outstanding and so fresh. Every server was so kind and attentive. They even brought me a few additional sauces from the back to try with my sushi order making the food even better. On top of it, the restaurant was ultra clean and peaceful. I can’t wait to go back!

Really fresh take on sushi. Beautiful arrangements to match the fresh fish and excellent taste profiles of every dish. Definitely one of the best in Sacramento Metro area!
Visited 7 months ago
The food was OK.
The service felt more like a Denny's safe, comfortable but not really personable or special. The service team seemed to be enjoying themselves together but it didn't carry over to the patrons as warm and friendly or inclusive. The atmosphere was like a clean warehouse cafeteria, nothing memorable or particularly characteristic about the restaurant. I will probably go again in time and perhaps by then it will have it's own style and character.

Somewhat upscale with good food and service. Expect to pay a little more than usual for a shopping center location but worth it. We will go again if back in the area.

This is the second time I’ve ordered for pick up and it’s been wrong. Last time they forgot one of my items. This time I showed up and they never put my order in so I had to wait an additional half hour for my food. And to top it off they forgot my tonkatsu sauce so I had to eat a dry dinner. I get they are busy but this is disappointing.

The service was great and the food was good. My son loved his Tako sashimi appetizer. The restaurant looks great and has a nice vibe. Definitely recommend it and going back. A couple of the rolls we had were a little average, but we'll switch it up next time we go.

I've eaten at a lot of different sushi restaurants & this is definitely a hidden gem! We had the Osaka, spicy tuna & Venus rolls (as my husband is allergic to crab & lobster), and they did NOT disappoint. The food, drinks & service was so on point that we ended up ordering one of my favorite things to order at any good sushi spot...the BBQ Albacore tuna.
The house red wine was delicious & love that it's from a local EG winery, and the Sapporo on draft was refreshing. We sat outside on their patio & it was just a lovely experience. Recommend making reservations if you have a larger party.

One of our go to places in Elk Grove. It never disappoints. If you can afford it, I'd recommend the Chef's choice for sashimi.
Everything else is also good though too.

The place looks great and it's very nice indoor atmosphere. I think the food is a bit pricey for how much they give you. I do wish they gave a bit more topping or more noodle because it kind of didn't fill me up. The broth and flavor profile were really good.
I got the gucci roll for the experience and it's great for that experience but I wouldn't get it again otherwise. LOL it legit looks fancy but the spider roll was probably the best bang for your money.

Decent place - would come back when it's convenient/am in town. One of the trendier feeling sushi spots in Elk Grove
What we got: bbq albacore app, spicy sashimi salad, Gucci roll
- would order the Gucci roll again
- possibly would order the spicy sashimi salad again if they used less dressing. Maybe they were trying to mask the fish smell with sauce? Unclear but it was overdone on dressing
- bbq albacore was good but would try something else next time
One thing that was frustrating was they brought out a spicy edamame (that we did not order) and I asked if it was charged on the bill as soon as it came out, they said it was. I let them know we didn't order it (the server had reviewed our order before leaving), so they took it back. Somehow, still ended up on our bill! Think this felt a little tricky/schemey

I was excited to try this restaurant but left feeling disappointed. Upon entering, the place was empty, and we were initially told by the waitress to sit wherever we liked. However, shortly after sitting, we were asked to move to a table in the far corner without any explanation, which was a bit off-putting. The food was underwhelming and seemed not to be fresh. Both my companion and I experienced stomach discomfort shortly after our meal.

I’m sorry to say this, but I actually have to leave a bad review
not some thing I like to do, but in this case I feel that it’s warranted
my family and I went to have lunch and to listen to the live music that they had ,which was really great!
Unfortunately they lost our order and nobody noticed, even though we brought it up to them, we saw people get seated, order food, eat their food and leave before we even got our appetizers our waiter kept saying oh so sorry about the wait Your food will be out in about 15 minutes. (What’s funny or maybe not so funny is that the restaurant was pretty empty when we got there because we got there before the show started) This happened multiple timesonce they realize they had lost our order. They didn’t even try to get it out to us.
, we were there for almost 2 hours before we decided to leave, my family wanted to walk out, but I of course spoke to the manager and said we would like to leave, as we were leaving, they brought out some random food that we didn’t order ,I said no thank you as you can see we are leaving. Then I went to the front counter with the manager. They charged us , did not comp us for our appetizers and even tried to charge me for the full meal that we never received, until I said to her that we didn’t get the food and I’m not paying for that. She simply said oh I know sorry, proceeded to charge me for the couple appetizers We got,Didn’t comp us despite apologizing for having lost our order and not noticing.
needless to say, I paid it despite my family’s protest and left. really disappointed.

Still searching for my go-to sushi spot in town and fujiya seemed hopeful. Came in for lunch and the wait staff were not welcoming. Music was loud and waitresses wore face masks I couldn’t hear anything. Menu prices and pricey and portions are tiny. The chirashi bowl was the most disappointing- fish was sliced paper thin could literally see thru it. Donburi is kids size portion. Skip it.

Nice decor and brightly lit. The music was a little high energy for my mood at the time.
The food was good but not noteworthy. Very solid and ill return. But maybe not insist my our of town friends try it. Everything was good, but I prefer a different take. The luxury of options, I think. ..
Next time I'll do lunch here instead of dinner.

Group of 7, including 3 kids. They didn't seat us until 80% of group was there. But they served us sake as we waited. The atmosphere was modern and clean but also welcoming. Service was fantastic, efficient and friendly. The food was moderately priced and so fresh. Got oysters, gyoza, bbq albacore, rolls (they have a rice free one!), tonkatsu ramen, bento box, and hotate sashimi (with fresh wasabi!) We will definitely be back.

GO HERE! I've been here around 40 times since they opened. Easily the best ramen in Elk Grove and top 5 in the greater Sacramento in my opinion. Gyoza to die for, every sushi roll I've tried was well made and high quality, and all ramen broths are good. (Get the Tonkotsu and add chili oil 😎). Service is amazing, presentation is stellar, family owned and everyone is pleasant to interact with. This is my favorite restaurant, the only place I can brag openly about and everyone I refer here tells me it was amazing. Don't bother going anywhere else!

This place is amazing! The food and presentation is top tier. They really go above and beyond with quality of food and presentation (from the food, dishware, decor, lighting) . Customer service was exceptional as well. I appreciate that all the servers work together to check on everyone, it was not a "I only worry about my table" mentality. We will definitely be back for more.

The waitresses were very busy. It took awhile but I could finally ask the waitress for more tea. But she took the cold tea away and replaced it with the soda my friend wanted instead because the tea was unsweetened. Also we were talking about the roll she wanted but wasn't ordered when the chef prepping food heard us and said, What would you like? I can take your order." And just like that it was done. So kudos for the chef! The food was excellent. The Tempura mix, Spicy Tuna roll hand wrap, the Elk Grove roll, and my Tonkatsu Ramen was epic. Would suggest highly suggest it!

I have had sushi everywhere in the Sacramento area and beyond that. I have to say that this was a great meal and experience. The first thing I noticed was the plates, glasses, bowls, and chopsticks. Everything was such high quality which I felt elevated the experience. I looked over my shoulder at the sushi bar and saw one chef watching another put together a plate and you could tell both chef's wanted it to look perfect. The sushi and ramen were spot on. Everything I tried was amazing. I have already recommended Fujiya to atleast four other people. Cannot wait to visit again!

Wanted to try a new place for restaurant week in Elk Grove and celebrate an early Chinese New Year. So we ended up at a Japanese restaurant. 😄 Had their Tempura Mix; Volcano, Elk Grove, and Sakura rolls; 2 bento boxes and chicken teriyaki bowl. Enjoyed the tempura mix as that isn't as thick as in other places and the Elk Grove roll. Prices are up their, but reasonable given the state of the economy. Though we did not, I would recommend calling in for a reservation. We would come here again.

As a sushi lover, with a husband who craves ramen from time to time, I’m always looking to try new places that offer both. Tonight’s google search led me here and I am so glad it did! It’s small but quaint inside, and we were still able to grab a table right away on a Friday night. Is it silly to say we loved the tableware? (lol) I really appreciated that everything was unique, down to the soy sauce holder and reusable chopsticks. Now, I’m not necessarily a sushi connoisseur but this was some of, if not the, best sushi I’ve ever had. I got the Sakura & Osaka rolls, and they were both amazing! I’ve never had a soy wrapped roll (Sakura) before and was worried I wouldn’t like the lack of rice. Boy was I wrong. You can really get a good taste of the fish, and they did not skimp on it! It was fresh and melt in your mouth good. The Osaka roll was my favorite though, again the fish was amazing, the flavors were great and it was just.. *chefs kiss*. My husband got the tonkotsu ramen and said it was great! I cannot wait to bring my friends here and try even more of the menu.

We had amazing service. The waitress made recommendations and they were fantastic. We had the Kobe roll and the Osaka roll, they were both amazing. We also love their Miso soup and tried their lobster appetizer. All around great service, helpful and friendly staff and DELICIOUS food!

My good friend introduced me to this establishment. Since he's a VIP and frequent customer, he knew exactly what to order.
He got us the truffle salmon, which tasted great, but half of the party really wanted hamachi so we ordered the truffle hamachi too. I must say - the dish worked better with salmon as hamachi was too light and easily overpowered by caviar and other flavors. As much as I love hamachi, it should just be eaten sashimi-style. The oysters were fresh and in a nice presentation, but were not the star of the show that night. The ankimo (monkfish liver) had cucumber and caviar with it, and it was a great creation that was refreshing and delicious. I really like the roll with the wagyu beef. Not sure what the name was, but that stood out.
Since the food was so good, I decided to get ramen as well. My friends got tonkotsu (that would have been my first choice) so I decided to order the spicy gyuniku ramen. For a restaurant that's not specialized in ramen, their ramen was quite good. Then I found out from my friend that initially this was going to be a ramen restaurant. The owner later decided to change it to the current style. Then the night ended with a bluefin tuna Kama (cheek). I've had hamachi Kama plenty of times, but not this. It was the star of the show! So juicy, tender and flavorful! I was near full, but I still couldn't stop eating it. We were lucky as the restaurant only received 2 cheeks that very morning and this last one was still available. Can't wait to go back again!

I absolutely loved the experience at Fujiya. The restaurant itself is intimate with seating for about 60 people including individual seating along the cooking and prep station. It’s an open floor concept so it feels like you’re dining in someone’s home as a welcomed guest. The ceilings are high with candle lit lighting throughout giving off a warmth you feel as if sitting beside a cozy wood fire. I don’t recall any specific music playing but the cheerful chatter you hear in the background likens to a group of lifelong friends meeting up at a bar. The food presentation is intentional, meticulous, and fragile. The flavors are delicate, and yet has depth that makes you contemplate the layers of each flavor. And last but not least the service here was seamless from the moment they greet you at the entrance to the time they bid you adieu.
Visited 2 years ago
We have eaten at Fujiya twice and will gladly eat there again. The food is excellent; quality and presentation are both top-notch. There are many items on the menu I would like to try. At our latest visit, there were four large groups, at least two of which were celebrating birthdays, and a fun time was being had by all, yet it was quiet enough to enjoy a conversation. The staff is pleasant and attentive to diners' needs. There is parking directly in front of the store, but this is a popular shopping center, and close parking is scarce. It isn't a large center, so any parking isn't too far away.

So impressed with the quality of the food and attention to detail. Hands down one of the best Japanese restaurants in the Sac area. The portions are more authentic and smaller (more like Sugarfish/Nobu than Mikuni) but more fresh and delicious. Nice assortment of options of cooked vs. raw food, and an amazing sashimi menu. My family was very happy with our meal and with the service. We will be back and we will be recommending Fujiya to all of our friends + family- we want the business to stay and thrive :)

Literally the best sushi restaurant in the entire Sacramento region.
I've tried so many places in/near Sac and I'm willing to drive 45 minutes here just to eat their rolls and sashimi. I've been here 5 times and brought my family and friends here too. Great quality rolls and they actually give you a lot of sushi per roll. Also, the staff here are so friendly and attentive.
They only opened 9 months ago which is very impressive!!
Let me start with the best roll on the menu:
Kobe roll: seared kobe beef with baby lobster salad on top of tuna, tempura flakes, tobiko. Every bite is literally a gold mine. So much flavor, especially the torched kobe beef!! 🤤
Kamakaz roll: soft shell crab here is cooked to perfection, also comes with crab meat and baby lobster salad. Get it, it's worth it.
Sakura roll: soy wrap (in place of seaweed) is delicious. Salmon, tuna, Hamachi, crab meat, baby lobster salad, tamago is a great balance of flavor. It's sweet, salty, and so so fresh.
They just put on 6 new rolls! Will try the Gucci roll and Osaka roll next time as I've heard that they are the best.
Edit: Osaka roll: unagi, seared tuna, and salmon with savory sauce. Very good combination of flavors, great choice!
Ordered chirashi bowl and it's a decent amount of fresh salmon/tuna/hamachi/tamago/ whatever else the chef wants over rice. Good if you want to fill yourself up on raw fish.
Daily chef's choice sashimi is a stunning presentation of their freshest available fish. We got shima aji, otoro, snapper, wagyu beef with fresh uni, ikura, salmon and a few others with pickled wasabi. Served atop ice and dry ice. 100% worth it for the taste and the experience!
Oysters were fresh, meaty, and flavorful. Can't go wrong with this one.
Oyster shooters were also fresh but a tad bit salty for me.
Uni nigiri had gold flakes in it! Better than most other restaurants. It's hard to get fresh uni in Sac.
Miso soup was mushroom based and so unique compared to other restaurants! I loved the flavor!
Truffle hamachi was SO GOOD. I tried to eat every little piece.
Chicken karaage was also really really good. Tender chicken, fried outsides. Outside could be fried just a little bit more but that might just be my preference.
Ika geso was also really good. Fried squid legs.
Bento boxes are good too. I prefer the rolls here but you can't really go wrong with any of their bento options.
Don't forget DESSERT! It's not on the menu but it's really good pricing. All desserts can run out if it's a popular time, so be warned!
Litchi sorbet is a MUST. There are little chunks of litchi in it. Every bite has tons of sweet flavorful juice, it makes me cry in happiness every time I get to eat this. Good for an adventurous soul.
Red bean ice cream also is so delicious, there are red bean chunks nestled inside. It's really fresh every time.
Yuzu cheesecake is heckin delicious as well. It's the right amount of sweetness and creaminess.
Green tea cheesecake was my least favorite dessert, but it still was really good. It just can't compete with the other three in my opinion, but if you like green tea you should absolutely order it!!
I recommend making a reservation for large parties as it can get crowded.
Ok in summary everything is top tier quality. I always leave with a full belly and happy memories!

Everything looked nice. We walked in at 2:10 and asked if we could still eat. They said yes. We sat down, ordered drinks, then at 2:19 were told their kitchens closed at 2:30. The attitude continued when we discussed this with either the owner or manager and explained the situation. We were made to feel very uncomfortable and rushed to leave. We will ensure every person and business we work with in the community know not to go there due to rude staff.

The wife and I went on a Friday date night and decided to give Fujiya a try. We had to wait about a half hour since it was 6:30pm so prime dinner time. We were able to get seated at the sushi bar. Not a huge menu which is fine with me. We ordered 3 rolls and were very happy with the selection we choose. Had to wait a while for them since they were slammed, but it was worth the wait. Very nice presentation and very fresh fish for sure. We will be going back for more.

Servers were very friendly. We came around 7pm and there were many people. Miso ramen was good but little bit salty. Truffles hamachi appetizer was so good, so we had very high expectation for our next 2 rolls of sushi, Kobe and Osaka rolls. Kobe roll was OK because it had too much sauces which overpowering the fresh seafood on the roll. Osaka roll was better but not our favorite. I wished the menu has pictures so we know what the rolls look like. We usually don't like too much sauces on sushi.

I have been here three times. Two out of the three times the service has been horrible. Most recently I came here during lunchtime. There weren’t a lot of customers. I waited around 40 minutes and I still hadn’t received my food the person next to me had already finished eating. I ended up canceling the order. Overall the food is OK but be prepared to wait a long period of time for your mealWe

1 and done.
I should have listen to the Google reviews. So I'll start with the positive first. The ambiance is nice. They are trying really hard to be an upscale Japanese restaurant. They have personalized bowls and nice utensils. Their service was very good on a Saturday lunch time crowd. The waitress was attentive and pleasant. But that's where this all ends.
If you're trying to be an upscale restaurant and charging $$$ for the food, at least you need to have good food. I was very disappointed with the quality of the food.
- Tonkotsu ramen - soup didn't have the rich flavor that comes with a broth that's been cooked for a long time, the noodles were not firm but more chewy, and the pork didn't just melt in your mouth. I've had ramen at other places in EG and this is not one I would recommend. It's not the worst place I've been to but not worth it.
- Chicken teriyaki bento box - just read the reviews. The chicken was a little burn and the sauce was watered down. I'm going to stop here.
- Sakura roll - a decent roll, nice presentation, my initial impression was decent flavor but not something to write home able. I would order this one again.
- Spider roll - OMG how could you mess this one up. This should be a staple. I'm so disappointed, I don't know what to say.
- Salmon sashimi - great presentation, decent flavor and not too thin portions. However, at $21 for 6 pieces, I think Mikuni has equivalent sashimi for much less.
Overall, I would say I tried to help a local EG business. But for me, this place is a 1 and done. Good bye, I'm going by to my tried and true.

Stylish and happening ambiance. Fresh ingredients, beautiful presentation, and delicious food! Also they practice excellent service. Everytime we've been there we have been served in some way by about 5 staff becasue they are great at working as a team and everyone is so helpful. Highly recommend Fujiya! It is a regular spot for us now and it feels great to support local business.

Very busy at early evening. Service great. Staff knowledgeable and attentive. Food good and flavorful. BBQ albacore fantastic. Elk Grove roll very good. Had several big tables when we arrived and that slowed delivery of food. We were at the Sushi Counter and were able to see the organized, clean and incredible prep work in action.

Great food, wonderful presentation, excellent staff. Highly recommend the BBQ albacore. One piece of advice though is try to arrive before a large rush as orders can take a little while to complete.

I celebrated my birthday here because I did a takeout first, it was so good. Reminds me of Tokyo and the fresh food there.
I have returned several times and always have liked the great service and food!

The fish was pretty good, but very small portions. I think this place identifies as a fancy restaurant. I had nigiri style sushi and they were about half the size of every other sushi place I have been. Maybe it's the inflation disaster that we are going through at the moment, but I'll go along. Each one had it's own flavor set with sprigs, dollops and splashes of one thing or another. While some of them were quite nice, others were a flavor that wasn't what I was hoping for when I ordered a particular fish. It's ok for them to try "new and fresh" ideas but when it comes to good sushi, I would lean into letting the fish speak for itself. Going down the menu, I don't speak Japanese so I asked the waitress what a couple of the selections were, to my surprise, she had no idea and we both came to the conclusion that I should probably just Google them. Maybe it was her first day, but the restaurant was not "authentic" if that's what you are going for. I would describe it as a high end knock off of a nice sushi place. Like some cool looking Jordans you get off ebay, only to find the stitching crooked and on closer examination they are labeled Jorbans. You might still wear them at knight, and most people wouldn't know the difference, but when it comes to the details, it is a little embarrassing.
