Great sushi spot. The food was delicious. We were first served dirty plates to eat off of, but the waiter replaced them quickly. The music was a bit loud and obnoxious, it felt like we were eating in a club. But the sushi was great quality and they had tons of options.

Upscale feel with clean but cold ambiance. Seated promptly by a friendly Hostess. We really enjoyed the side chick roll. We also had 2 others that were tasty but didn't really compare to the side, chickl. The servers were gathered talking a little loudly in the station while we were trying to enjoy our dinner. Not a deal breaker but sure doesn't scream upscale. Would go back just for that roll though.

The first time we ate here went great the second time we came in not nearly as good as the first but not as bad as the last. Of course this time we brought a couple of extra people with us and I was so embarrassed that I chose this place for lunch after the service and quality of food that was put out.
When we arrived there were 2 tables seated I had to use the restroom and it was absolutely disgusting I cleaned up the mess in there because it was so gross.

We ordered drinks appetizers and soup within the first 5 minutes of being there. Appetizers started coming out within 15 minutes still no beer or soup so we asked again ( I think she forgot to put in the order) 7 minutes go by and no beer or soup so I go to the bar and grab the beer. Waitress comes back takes our order and I ask for the soup again. 20 minutes later our food comes out a salad not close to being worth over $20 and my chicken and rice bowl witch was cold when it arrived at the table absolutely not worth $26. Again asked for the soup and she finally brought it out to us after our main dish.
The service was absolutely terrible the food was sub par and our bill for 3 meals and 4 happy hour appetizers plus 2 beers was over $150 for a sad lunch.

I would like to give it another chance and update the review but after spending that kind of money for what we got it's kind of a hard choice to make in fear that it will happen again.

I’ve been coming here for years, probably since it’s been opened & I recently visited EDH again and went to Sky. The place is not what it used to be… like at all.

- Atmosphere: absolutely terrible with loud, blasting EDM music. Quite literally, some of the most ear piercing music ever. Asked 3 different times to turn it down with no regard for the guests at all. This isn’t a club, it’s a restaurant.. please fix this and be considerate of guests. People want to be able to relax, hear each other, and not be tormented by terrible taste in music. Please play neutral stuff.

- Service: Service used to be amazing here.. but not anymore. And it’s not even the servers fault, it’s the LACK of servers. We had to wait almost 10 minutes before even seeing a server & I had to wait 20 minutes for a beer! Not okay.

- Food: This the only area that still shines.. menu isn’t that user friendly (you need pictures of rolls, etc). Other than that, it’s classic still.

Anyways - won’t be returning unfortunately. I’ll be taking my business to Mikunis or elsewhere when I visit home again.

Foods arrived in timely manner and the quality & presentation was very impressive.
The kids bento box was a huge hit with our 4 year old.

We came to eat at this place we love it here we have come here about 3-4 times and had never ran into the manager of the restaurant first she said she was the owner! Anyways let me explain what happened my husband and I were in the car waiting for 5 more people to come my husbands says let’s go inside and order some appetizers while we wait! We go inside and we are talking to the young girl upfront then the manager comes up and says if we were on with the high table I was like ya that’s fine! She response let me clean it there was nothing to clean another party of 5 comes by and they get sitted right where we where just told if we wanted to sit, so my husbands says that’s rude we are here waiting and you sit them down first on the table you said was for us and the manager comes and says I could sit anyone where I want to sit them, I responded that’s not a problem you should have told us you cannot sit down till all your people are here, she said this is my restaurant and I set the rules if you like it or not you can leave! We are here to celebrate my brother in laws birthday and never had an issue we had never seen the manager anyways we stayed and she came to us and said why did you say I was rude cause you were rude I responded! I understand you do things a certain way but by law that should be up where I can see it ! Then said why I ran this the way I want to and if you don’t like it you can leave . I was so annoyed she was not going to apologize and that’s fine then she said she is the manager not owner! I figured I said! Then I said restaurant runs great with out you!

Im so disappointed with this place , I would never come back
Today it’s my husband’s bday and we came here to have dinner
We arrived at 5:30pm they didn’t bring us the food till almost 7pm
I would understand if they were busy but there was literally only 12 people in the restaurant I have no idea why the took so long to bring the food , I was starving and I was very closed to walked out we decided to wait a bit longer , 25 minutes later they finally brought us the food and omg the Roll I order was sooo small 😭 I always order this same roll the fantastic one when I come here on Fridays and it was as delicious and a decent size but today the Chef who usually makes our food was off and it was a different guy who made our food , I usually never leave bad reviews but today was just a horrible experience it ruined my husbands bday 😭 we paid over $120 for a bad meal , please do better guys your food it’s not cheap and we don’t mind paying for it but please make it worth it

The food is amazing but they are lacking customer service skills. The hostes was on the phone when we arrived and proceeded to mind her business after she got off.
Finally they were able to sit us but when we got to the table there was no menu. We waited for the server for about 10 min and had to ask for the menu.
This is second time in a row when we are treated purely at this place.
You guys were one of the best Sky sushi restaurant in the area, pull it up and bring customer service back, make it pleasant. Show customers that you appreciate them and they will appreciate you.
We are coming all the way from rancho cordova while we have same restaurant 2min away. There is a reason for that.

New owners? Food chinsy, small rolls, portions, bento box came in small wierd stainless steel camping dinner wear bowls. Albacore way over cooked and small. Just finished dinner with my boys and will never go back. The entire experience was disappointing and questionable. Service was so slow, dismissive when we asked where our food was, ordered addtl. roll that turned into another fiasco & something given to us from the kitchen behind (because we were sitting at the sushi bar and saw it was not made). All resulting in trying to kindly provide feedback to server when I went up to let them know they forgot a roll on the bill that we actually ate. Then a rude interaction with Manager / maybe owner? We will go back to Mikuni with more choices, better food/service and far friendlier team. Sad to see that our local restaurants do not appreciate their customers or maybe we just caught them on a bad day, but we should not be made to feel we were in the wrong & ignored.

They have always been our favorite. Food and service are always the best. My only complaint is the menu. To simplify the menu for the young kid staff, they changed it to a menu for dummies. Now you have to go online to see a full menu. The young are just not as good as they once were.

I don’t usually leave bad reviews, but for anyone looking for a sushi place in edh, sky sushi is not it… we love Umi sushi up the road but decided to branch out since they are closed on Sunday’s. We won’t be coming back to Sky.
Music was loud and vulgar, service was lacking efficiency/speed, the price was way too high for what the rolls had to offer (we ordered 3 rolls and a miso) with small and odd cuts of fish on them and lacking flavor.

Basically, don’t go here… go up the road to Umi sushi (unless it’s a Sunday, just eat something else)

The food was good, we ordered rolls and appetizers.
When I got here I was greeted with half a smile ( not a genuine welcome) and got a table for three which was located closest to the door.

After we finished the appetizers our server brought us sushi but did not offer new plates after appetizers, had to ask. New plates were just placed on the side of the table - still did not take the used plates. So we had to eat in that mess.

Total spent with tip $148+.

And I want to mention the hot tea with no taste at all. Basically just warm water. Even if there were 2 tea bags. Giving 3 stars

Ordered 4 roll, edamame and tempura for appetizers.

Order taker very generic - all the rolls had playful names.

Ordered dessert ( see pictures) looked awesome. The fried banana was not so good. Too much whip cream tasted way different than all others - have eaten this all over greater Sacramento area.

I hate people that leave bad review without cause. I wish them success - but I will not go there again. Giving 4 stars instead of 1.

We haven't been here for a while, the roles were all fabulous, great selection, great flavors, excellent quality. But, I really love sashimi and that wasn't nearly as good as before. The fish itself was fine but not a lot of flavor and not a lot of selection. Overall though we do like this place the staff is great and we will be back.

Sat people way too close together when plenty of empty tables. While I was looking at menu and while eating was constantly interrupted when I'm just trying to enjoy some quiet time. Took way too long to come collect my payment, the kid who claimed to be Manager instead stopped at another table to take order and when I noticed this I asked another girl to ring me up because I needed to be somewhere, she stopped in her tracks and wouldn't do it and waited for him. Also, the kid claiming to be Manager can't even get his tables right. I'm new to the area so wanted to try a new place but I definitely will not be back. Sushi prices were ridiculous and drink prices were ridiculous as well. I ordered a basic roll that should have been marked for 12 or 13 dollars and it was 16!

Absolutely horrible service. First off, had a rude server that took 15 minutes to get drinks. Second, food took over an hour to come out. The “chefs” were cleaning up and sweeping when we still did not have our food. We asked for the manager and they would not even come over to our table. They finally brought our food out and forgot part of it. The server argued saying that’s all we had. He then remembered that we ordered more that he forgot to put on the ticket. He then charged us full price and said he made sure to put a zero for a tip. The entitlement in the staff is ridiculous.

I had an incredible experience at Ski Sushi! The restaurant's beautiful and fun vibe immediately set the mood for a fantastic evening. I would try other restaurants other than Sky Sushi. And here is why:

1) Got food poisoning at Sky Sushi and was sick for several days. Had to call doctor for advice and medications.

2) In addition to the bad fish the service was slow. Had to wait 45 minutes after order was taken and food arrived. Restaurant was about 1/4 full when we were there.

3) Prices seemed higher than other Sushi restaurants in the area. Not the best value.

I ordered a fish less shrimp lover and received a roll with salmon and hot red sauce in it. I called to let them know after getting all the way home 20 minutes away from the restaurant I called and was told they could not refund me and I need to bring it back for a credit for next time. I not only brag about sky and only choose them for sushi ordering it multiple times a month with family and the customer service is definitely not what I go there for however this time when I called a host answered said ok let me get a manager then the “manger” gets on the line has me explain and then says ok please hold while I get my manager then tells me the district manager said he can’t do anything for me unless he sees the roll and then laughed and said I’m sorry you’re upset but that’s all I have for you! I can never go back to Sky without feeling disgusted. I can’t even eat my roll so sad. Don’t go here mikunis is a little more expensive but well worth the service and attention to detail. Everyone here is very unprofessional and very very immature and young. Do better Sky my $40 plus cash tip I gave you should had been worth more than this.

GREATLY overpriced and bad parking. Got 2 dinner combos (bento boxes) chicken katsu and beef teriyaki were both very tough. The katsu was covered in sauce so the breading was soggy. They came with salad but no dressing, and decent tempura and gyoza

$26 for a bento box with 2 optional sides, no soup, and a small main dish

$4+ for a small drink

Pricing in the menu photos on google was significantly less than what I was charged. When I brought it up with the hostess she was not understanding or sympathetic at all. She coldly replied that she can't match prices from 2001 or 2002... the menu photos were uploaded 3 years ago and were $10 cheaper for each dinner combo. Even at the lower price I would not have been satisfied with what I received

I'm surprised in an upscale community like EDH that there isn't more of an effort to have your rolls gluten-free as an option. Most sushi is already gluten free or almost.

Have versions of the sauces and anything else that use soy sauce use Tamari instead. Use shrimp ebi instead of tempura {side note, tempura is a “flavor bully“ and overpowers a lot of the other subtle flavors in a roll). Use imitation crab that does not have wheat in it {why do they put wheat anyway?) Etc.

You could add a dollar or two per roll for a gluten free option.

Super tasty, some of the better quality sushi I've had recently.

We've been celebrating birthdays here for almost a decade. And tonight will be the last one. Worst service we have had as a collective group to memory. Sat for our reservation at 6, waitress didn't come back to the table until 6:30, after I went up to the front and had to ask where our server was. She said there was a mix up even though she set our waters down and had half greeted the table. Got our whole order at once because our party of 10 had been waiting for a half an hour. Drinks took another 30 minutes once ordered. Appetizers hit the table before beers or cocktails. Food came out good, but we had to ask for soy sauce and wasabi setups. Check was requested to be split, it wasn't. Server spent another long chunk of time splitting checks that we had already requested be split. Fine. Brings the bills, people pay cash, and some cards. Takes another chunk of time to return for payment, and then even longer to bring payment back to the table. We ended up having to ask a busser for the checks because there where children in the party and our 6 pm reservation was pushing 8:30. Part of our party left without their change because the server was taking so long. As Everything took a half an hour longer than it should have. Charged 20% gratuity for our larger party which is totally fine and understandable, but this waitress knew she was getting her tip regardless and didn't bother to follow through with any customer service aspects once we where seated. There was a table next to us, that was a larger party, that sat almost an hour after us, that had a different waitress and where in and out sooner than our smaller party was. I practice as much patience as possible while dining out, especially in recent years but 2.5 hours for a reservation at a casual restaurant is pushing it, not to mention trying to celebrate an event with family and everyone is annoyed because they can't get their change or their drinks are taking 30 minutes.

This place was ok. If you like sushi rolls, all but 2 rolls contain either cream cheese or tempura shrimp. If you don't want your rolls with fried or cheesy bits, you are almost out of luck.

There was one, the Red Cross. It was tasty, and nothing fried or cheesy in it. Quite good. Now extend the menu .... Hint hint.

The california roll, meh. Like they don't even try on this one.

If you like the fried stuff in your rolls, then you're golden. The rolls are tasty.

C'mon guys, get rid of the tempura shrimp and cream cheese. At least, provide a selection.

I usually avoid giving bad reviews as I think everyone can make mistakes. However, the experience we just made was absurd and the employees refused to provide another way of communication.

So this was our experience on July 18th at 7:50 p.m.:
My husband tried to order take-out for us as I am working late and we would not make it in time to enjoy the food during the opening hours.

When he called the restaurant, the host picks up and puts him on hold for a long time. When she returned, she tell us that they are very busy and experiencing some problems. Even though the background noise is incredibly high, he manages to order an appetizer and five sushi rolls with the five roll special. The host confirms and informs him to pick it up in an hour.

30 minutes later, my husband receives a call from the same host telling him that for the last 20 minutes she was trying to reach us to inform us that we cannot pick the rolls for the five rolls special but her phone is broken so she couldn't connect with us. My husband asks for clarification as we have been at the restaurant not too long ago and were able to choose our rolls for the special. As she replies that this is the information she got from the kitchen and the servers, my husband asks to speak to a Manager. While she replies that there are no Managers working tonight, she hands the phone to a server. The Server comes on the phone and barely can hear my husband's voice due to the technical issues and the background noise. After repeating our previous "at the restaurant" experience and explaining to him that we have two allergies, he clarifies to us that we can choose it at the restaurant but we cannot when ordering take-out. In terms of allergies, we only would be able to leave a note for the kitchen.

While this seems not very reliable, my husband asks how we would be able to order the five rolls without the special and asks for the Servers name.

The Server responds with " I am instructed by my Management to not answer this question" and hands the phone back to the host. My husband tries to ask the host for a name who is now insecure and refuses to repeat her initially mentioned first name.
Consequently, my husband informs her that he is disappointed with the service and will complain to the Management. Her reaction: she just hangs up the phone.

Taken together, there was no food for us, no business for you, no service from your employees, or any kind of possibility to talk to someone about this. So, if you are the Manager of this restaurant, please reach out to two lovely customers who like your food and would have paid full price if there would be any kind of service.

The food quality was great but the service was terrible. I had to ask for a table twice then the waitress only came to our table to bring the food. We had 4 kids, all under 8, and were not offered spoons or forks. We went to the staff on 3 different occasions to ask for an order, check and forks. The poor service will definitely make me reconsider going back. And they add on 20% tip for large parties. I would tip more for good service but that was too much for what we had tonight

My husband took me to Sky Sushi to celebrate my bday. It was our first time there and definitely will not be our last. We love everything about this place. We didn't have to wait too long for our table. We were seated right away. The staff there were great especially our waitress, Marissa. She was very friendly, attentive, courteous, professional and checked on us often. She has a beautiful smile and she smiles the whole time. The food presentation was exceptional and the sushi were outstanding. It's our new favorite sushi place! ❤️

Buddy recommended, food alright, but not memorable to this 1/2 Asian very experienced palate.

Modern atmosphere, model type hostesses, but nigeri lacks tasty sause (unagi) and magro was thinly sliced. Hate filling up on rice portion of sushi, with only "OK" protein toppings.

$100 bill w/ $20 tip was too expensive for "OK" when other options abound. S.F. has better options, less rice more good stuff!

Our family had a horrible experience last night. We had the worst service. The server was unable to make a bad experience good. We waited almost an hour to get our drinks. We were told they didn't have glasses or plates. When I asked to talk to a manager I was told manager was busy then I was told he wasn't there at all. I really enjoy Sky Sushi. The rolls are unorthodox (that is, not the standard rolls found at just about every sushi spot), but, by and large, quite fun and tasty (and on the occasional roll that is a miss- for me, anyway- I appreciate the creative swing). Service is solid; when I've been, they've usually been pretty busy, but the food comes out reasonably fast and the servers have always been polite and attentive. If you live in EDH, and looking to stay in town, it's a solid dining experience.

Many people don't order a whole bottle of wine at dinner for fear of having to finish it before driving. You are legally allowed to take an unfinished bottle of wine home. The restaurant must re-cork the bottle, seal it in a see-through bag, and attach the receipt to the bag.

Posting this for the incredibly rude manager. Beware, you order a bottle there, can't finish it they keep it...and you get a rude manager telling you off for asking..nope.. other places to eat!

My family has lived here for 15 years, we used to come here all the time and we all had a favorite roll. We hadn't come by in a few years due to COVID, and it's definitely changed.

I could tell just by looking at it, but the flavor is nothing like what it used to be. The rice was overcooked and overpacked, basically like grocery store sushi. Just lots of imitation crab and weirdly flavorless fish. The shrimp tempura in the roll was tiny with overcooked batter, lacking sauce.

It's fine if you're looking for something more affordable or open a little later in the evening, but there are much better places to get sushi now.
I hope they get good chefs back. I'm going to miss the old Sky.

Anyone who says this place has good sushi is either lying to themselves, or haven’t anything better than gas station sushi. 2 days later and I’m still paying the price for eating here. 2 of our 6 person party couldn’t leave the restaurant before having to use the restroom not including myself. My roll which is similar to what I order at other sushi restaurants was dry and flavorless, the pepperfin was mushy and definitely not fresh. The bbq tuna was dry and... well you catch my drift. I don’t think anyone at our table finished what was on their plate and basically said they won’t ever be coming back after this experience.

The server never came by to take our order, and we had to ask the bus boy, or other servers if they could find our waitress on multiple occasions. Once we were able to locate her, she seemed annoyed and bothered that we needed anything. Took our table over 30min just to get a drink order which took another 15min to actually come to our table. Not to mention we never were given a menu, or instructions on how to order with the new style. I would understand if the restaurant was really busy and crazy, but it was very mellow for a Friday night. I guess now we know why!

If you want sushi do yourself a favor and find another place to go. Hell, I’m sure Nugget Market might have better quality options.

I came during a relatively busy dinner hour, and the owner and one other man were walking all around the restaurant, working with customers and taking orders without masks on. Masks are currently required everywhere in EDH, and there are signs posted on the door that masks are required. Social distancing and mask mandates have been in place for almost a year, so I see no excuse for this.
I’ve also had a few negative experiences here with them forgetting to make my order, not having to-go orders ready when they said they would be, and one instance in which it took an hour for our food to come out when we were one of the only groups in the restaurant. Would not recommend.
