Blending classic techniques with adventurous Pacific Rim flavors, culinary pioneer Roy Yamaguchi created an entirely new approach to fine dining. The first Roy's opened in Honolulu in 1988 and we've spread our warm hospitality and passion for innovative and creative cuisine and beverage around the world ever since. Join us tonight in Anaheim, CA to discover the fresh ingredients and outstanding seafood, expertly prepared by our local chefs that made us famous.
I reserved a booth for five of my family and friends for the day after Thanksgiving. We enjoyed a great meal with great service. We asked if they had anything vegan, and they brought out an entire menu. Bravo!
PROS:
Fresh quality ingredients. Wonderful friendly service. They sat me in exact spot I envisioned. The ambiance and arrangement was slightly uncomfortable. The lobster bisque with lime juice and coconut milk created a unique interpretation that appeased the palate. The fresh scallops with lobster sauce incorporated well with the black rice. The cherry heirloom tomatoes did merge well. The chocolate "souffle" tasted nice, but the ice cream with spiced crumble delighted the senses.
CONS:
The ambiance was more casual than any other Roy's that I dined. This could be the case due to the proximity to Disneyland.
OVERALL:
It's a good value compared to the other higher end "chain" restaurants in the Anaheim Convention area. Nicely done!
Ciao, cheers, and buen provecho!

This restaurant will get mixed reviews from myself (and the company that was with me.). We all enjoyed the staff and felt they were very helpful making sure our questions were answered and any food allergies were considered. However, there were two dishes that were just not good or as expected. This resulted in my four versus five star rating.

Sometimes unplanned destination gives you the best experience. With no definite restaurant in mind, a casual stroll on a Friday night led us to Roy's, a Hawaiian fusion restaurant.
With a birthday to celebrate with my dear friend, we kicked it off with a celebratory drink - mango margarita. Their calamari wasn't what I expected, but it was ok nonetheless. We tried their Auntie Lei's Aloha roll, which is a mixture of salmon, spicy tuna, and yellow tail. You can't go wrong with this dish. I was most surprised with the Lakanilau Roll - a roll with wagyu beef. I never thought that beef could go on a roll. What an odd pairing yet delectably satisfying. The beef is cut very thin and just melts in your mouth.
Great service enhances your dining experience, and their staff, especially "Q" provided an excellent service. He exhibited the traits of what Ohana represents. With great food and amazing service, we enjoyed our experience and will surely visit again.

First time at any Roy’s location. Food was good but the location itself felt old and not matching the expense of a meal here. Place was quite empty and lacked atmosphere . Started with calamari. Ahi poke and Brussels sprouts, all were great. Main meal was the fish of the day ahi was solid, fish was well cooked and seasoned. Deserts were good. Overall left feeling the quality and price of the food were not matched by the overall restaurant experience

Met up with friends....pretty empty for a Saturday near Disneyland. I had the salmon salad pretty small piece of salmon over cooked. A truly boring salad and I was hungry. My friends had the waygu burgers, they said were mediocre...the ribs which seemed over sauced and one ordered then Lobster Bisque. Stay clear of the Lobster Bisque...brought out a bowl and a carafe seemed strange to all of us and watery for sure. But we caught up and the wait staff were very friendly. They don't validate for parking. Parking cost me $8.00.

I liked the ambience of the restaurant, it was intimate for a nice dinner date but I also saw a family with a young child. But let’s get to the important part. I highly recommend the Misoyaki “butterfish”. It was full of flavor and just melts in your mouth. I don’t usually order dessert but I’m so glad I did. The pineapple upside down cake is a must!!! AND an honorable mention (I forgot her name) but our waiter was so friendly and provided amazing customer service.

We popped in while at a conference at the convention center, and although I had previously heard mixed reviews about Roy's, we were not disappointed and had a wonderful experience.
We started with the Hawaiian martini (yum!) and lobster bisque, followed by the parmesean crusted sea bass: Amazing!
Not to mention out server Sierra, who was sweet, efficient, and knowledgeable. She was like the chef's kiss of the whole meal! Conventions can be long and tiring, but she really lifted our spirits.
Don't forget to try their bread pudding for dessert!
Visited 8 months ago
Was involved in a few meals here this week while attending a conference in Anaheim. That being said although the food was excellent each night, service did vary. I think ultimately staff can make or break your experience regardless of the quality of food and ambiance. We had the sweetest server during our last night, her name was Sierra. She went above and beyond and I didn’t even realize this was lacking until she outshone the expectations. You can truly tell that she cares about making a memorable and magical experience. We didn’t want for anything and she anticipated our needs.
Over the span of a few nights with the different groups I was with, just about everything was tried. Recommendations would be the grilled filet, blackened Ahi, seabass, lobster potstickers, bisque. They weren’t offering the melting soufflé this year so we missed out on that but the bread pudding is also great.
I’m sure this event put a strain on the establishments of the area, but the staff made it seem like it was handled with finesse. Looking forward to returning.

To the incredible bar staff at Roy’s, thank you. My group was attending an event at Roy’s that went until 9. We wanted to come eat a late dinner at the end of the event. The hostess informed us at 8:55 that they had already done last call for the dining room and we could try the bar. We sat at the big high top with 6 of our 8 people and told we had 5 minutes to get an order in before the kitchen closed. We stalled as long as we could but had to order without the last two of our party. They came in literally a minute after we ordered but they said the kitchen was closed and they couldn’t do anything. We were bummed but didn’t want to push it. To the server who wasn’t even our server that took pity on those two (who hadn’t had a chance to eat a meal all day), thank you. He managed to grab some of the passed apps from the event so they could at least eat something. We were grateful. What we didn’t expect was for him to come back after the rest of us got our entrees with two bowls of the misoyaki butterfish for them. No fish has ever tasted as good. To top it off they didn’t charge us for those two. I know it was a crazy busy week for them with a 40k person conference at the convention center, but these guys went above and beyond. I will be back the next time in town.

After a week of eating what was supposed to be the best food Disneyland offers and receiving the most terrible service in our life with mediocre meals, we decided to look outside the park. I am so thankful we did!
Starting with my phone call to ask if we could wear our vacation clothes to dinner I was met with the kindest voice on the other end reassuring me that it was okay to wear a Disneyland Sweatshirt since we had not planned to leave the resort property.
When we arrived 20 minutes early to our reservation we sat for less than 5 minutes before we were seated at our table and from the very first second we arrived the entire staff was unbelievable and I do not think words can fully describe how attentive the staff was to us.
They provided a allergy menu that had so many options which was a treat for me because I am used to having only one or two options and often those consist of just salad and fruit, but not noodles, such a rare occasion.
We tried an appetizer of Brussel Sprouts which if not prepared correctly can be very bitter. My husband and I looked at each other after the first bite with amazement, we'd never had brussel sprouts come even close to being as delicious as these were. I told my husband not only were these the best brussel sprouts I have had im my life but possibly thing I have ever tasted.
My entire family, including my picky 8 year old was blown away by the food and service here and our server (a beautiful, petite, blonde who could pass for a disney princess) was the sweetest and most attentive we have had at our stay in L.A. or anywhere else.
The entire staff was amazing and my husband was really impressed with the attentiveness and manners of the commis waiter. At some of the places we have been to this past week, we were left in a mess which made it difficult to enjoy after dinner conversation but not here due to their diligence of keeping things tidy for us.
We were asked if we wanted dessert and I always say no because of my gluten allergy but then she said that they had a flourless souffle and we were sold! The dinner finished with our family each grabbing a spoon and enjoying this sweet treat which I will remember fondly.
We were so impressed and are already talking about how we will ALWAYS stop here on our visits to LA.
Just amazing treatment from everyone. Thank you all so much!
EDIT: We ended up coming back again a month later for our wedding anniversary just the two of us and once again received amazing service which made our special day even more special. Since the entire family loved this place (my 8-year-old calls it the place where she had the fancy chicken nuggets) we hope to be back for another vacation or special celebration in the future.
Thank you!

Love love love Roys. We used to go to the one in Woodland Hills all the time. Unfortunately it closed during COVID. We actually drove an hour just to come to the Roys in Anaheim. The food is fantastic and is always on point.
I highly suggest a couple things from the menu: tempura ahi roll. Lobster potstickers, lukini lao roll, butter fish, and the lobster steak combo. These are awesome dishes.
Roys also has a great happy hour if you can make it. The burger is amazing.

When Roy’s SF closed during the pandemic we were very sad. When we were on vacation to Disneyland we were surprised that Roy’s was a block from the hotel, and under the same original ownership (not franchised). The place was pretty empty on a hot August weekday, but make no mistake it’s an absolute treat for your tastebuds. The staff were all so awesome! Make it a date while you’re on vacation and you won’t regret it!

I'm not the biggest surf n turf (reef n beef if you will) kinda gal, but the food was definitely worth the price. I kinda regretted what I ordered but I only say that cause the food the other people in my party ordered looked just as good if not better. Service was slow. So so slow, but that could be chalked up to being near both Disney and the Convention Center. Atmosphere was kinda generic. Certainly forgettable at least. The woman's restroom seemed like a dressing room with a door with wooden slats. One small ding is that it is paid parking at a nearby garage, so that kinda sucks.

KEEP AN EYE on all belongings. Sat in the bar area at a high top. Only people that came close to our table were waitstaff and as we went to leave we realized someone had unzipped our purse, took the wallet and zipped the purse back. Might have stumped us but they dropped the green valet ticket (that was in the wallet) right behind our chair….so we know where the wallet was stolen. We didn’t have anyone sit next to us or behind us. Tried using the cards at an Apple Store 20 mins away at 8:48 pm last night.

worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. Was in town for a conference at the convention center and booked Roy’s for a customer dinner. we arrived on time, it was very busy which was not an issue but it was so loud. Horrible acoustics pretty much sounds like youre in a Chuck E Cheese so very hard to have a conversation. We ordered our food at 725 received our appetizers and then waited till 850 almost an hour and half before our food came out. Our waitress told us there was an issue with the kitchen and when the manager came over he lied and said it was just a busy night. Every restaurant in the area was reservation only so they should have expected a busy night. Would never eat here again and confirmed we do not have additional dinners here for the rest of the trip.

The food at Roy's was very good. Everything i ate at this restaurant was cooked very well. The issue we had was that it took about an hour and a half after we ordered to actually get our food. It would have been nice to have been told what was going on and why it was taking so long for our food. Also, the restaurant was so loud that it was hard to hear the person next to you.

This Roys has the least "Roys" atmosphere of any of them, but the service is excellent and so is the food.

Service is excellent, food was mixed. Some dishes are great others not so much. The biggest disappointment was the dust that was behind the booth where customers are seated. There was also a large dust accumulation on the vents very near the table. For the price structure of the menu, customers should expect more attention to detail for maintaining the atmosphere of the restaurant.

We reserved for 10 but arrived with 11. Couldn't /wouldn't accommodate us. Set-up a table outside after involving the manager. It took them 2,5 hours to get our food out (and it was wrong and not that good), They (waiter and hostess) were arrogant and left us literally out in the cold. Never ever again.

Technology and Amazing Service
On conclusion of the Expo West food exhibition on Saturday evening we went to dinner at the Roy’s Restaurant in Los Angeles. We had a lovely meal served by Shannon. We returned to our hotel to pack our final bits and pieces before heading out to LAX airport to return home to Charleston, SC. It was at this stage I discovered one of my hearing aids, which were two weeks old, had fallen out of my pocket (not ear), somewhere. But where? The last place we had been was the restaurant.
We tried calling the restaurant only to discover the their phones were out of order. We had to leave for the airport. En-route, my wife Rose, kept calling the restaurant for a long shot chance that my hearing aid had fallen out there. Next thing Enrique texts back to ask how he can help. Rose, a seventy four year old granny, texts him back explaining the story, and which table we had sat at, and could they look around and see if they could find it. Not expecting any good news we were flabbergasted when they came back to tell us they had found it.
Dilemma, we were in the car on our way to the airport. My son Michael was driving and suggested we get Christopher (my other son) to call Uber Parcels and have the hearing aid sent to him. Christopher was flying back to Cleveland, GA early next morning. My wife texts Enrique to say Uber Parcels is on their way and would be there in four minutes. The driver actually arrived two minutes early and collected the hearing aid. Twenty minutes later he had delivered the hearing aid and it cost me $10. I sat in total disbelief at how quickly everything had happened. I was so impressed at the service Enrique gave us. But equally impressed at how Uber Parcels stepped into action to get the hearing aid from the restaurant to Christopher in such short order. Christopher was flying to a completely different destination to us but we would be meeting up with him in three days time. I was also super impressed with my talented “super granny” wife coordinating everybody and getting it all to happen.
My faith in the goodness of people was restored and equally my appreciation of how modern technology solved this situation. Thanks to Enrique, Rose, Michael and Christopher.

First time ever eating at roys and it was a "fixed" menu for valentines day. If I would of known this when making reservations I would of booked somewhere else. The food was OK but if you don't eat certain fish or steak you were screwed like I was. $150.00 to be told what you're gonna eat is never a good thing. I went craving sushi and left very disappointed. If I were them I'd never do that fixed menu again. Just my opinion.

We read about so many lives lost to drunk or DUI drivers that my wife and I decided this year to just have a quiet, early dinner for NYE. I wanted to go to West Hollywood or DTLA but she wanted to stay close to home. So we compromised with Roys in Anaheim at the Garden Walk. Parking, on this evening was busy with a queue about 12 cars deep just to get into the parking garage. Luckily, they had EV chargers open, so we got a good spot and charged at the same time!
The wait was fairly short, but they were taking walk-in's. We were disappointed that so many people were dressed casually while my wife and I took the time to look nice (at least for each other, but heck, that's what it's all about anyway, right?) especially on NYE. You'll get a mix of people here from tourists visiting Disneyland from all over the world, to locals, like ourselves, looking for a nice night out, to business people trying to seal the deal (I kid you not, there were some guys next to us talking about real estate (on NYE!)).
The service was impeccable as was the food. We were disappointed that the chocolate souffle was not offered on the NYE prix fixe menu. However, what was on the menu was stunning. The lobster bisque, which I order at other restaurants when I get a chance, was absolutely amazing. It was velvety with good pieces of lobster, not just an essence. My wife's tuna poke was likewise superb and, to date, is her favorite, bar none. Unlike a traditional poke served over rice, this was molded with avocado and served next to won ton chips. It truly was delicious.
For the next course, I ordered the filet mignon, medium, with lump crab cake and added a lobster tail (the dish comes only with the crab cake and filet) and my wife had the Chilean Sea bass (one of her go-to dishes when it's available). My steak was cooked perfectly, with just the right amount of pink in the center with a good char on the outside. The lobster tail was juicy and not overcooked (unlike Hell's kitchen... SMH). The lump crab cake was free of shell pieces and not overly salty nor overly breaded. The Yukon mashed potatoes, like the bisque, was velvety smooth, with a hint of butter and natural potato flavors. The asparagus was excellent as well as the truffle onion and misoyaki demi-glace.
The sea bass was delightful (I'm running out of superlatives and descriptives here...). It, too, wasn't overcooked and was moist and flavorful. My wife's eyes just about popped out of her head with the first bite. She loves fish, but really, really loved this. The garlic noodles under the fish gave just enough contrast in flavors and textures to enhance the bass without being distracting. The Nishime vegetables and Thai lime emulsion, likewise, were a perfect compliment.
As our meal also included dessert, we opted for the guava panna cotta. I'm not a fan of guava, but my wife is. All I can say is that I'm a fan now. At least if it's prepared like Roy's. It was a white chocolate mousse with strawberry champagne sauce and pink peppercorns. There was also an edible flower garnish. I never eat the flower garnish, regardless of restaurant, but tonight I decided to give it a try. It was delicious. Also, whoever thought of mixing peppercorns with a sweet dessert should be knighted! Amazing juxtaposition of flavors.
We ended the evening with a toast and some champagne and beat the erratic and inebriated drivers and were able to kiss our kids, all four of them, goodnight as we waited for 2024 to roll in.
While not as pompous and spectacular as our other NYE's, this one was delicious and meaningful. A wonderful dinnner and night with my wife, and a warm homecoming to my kids. If 2024 is anything like this night, we'll need another reservation at Roy's... make that several reservations and a chocolate souffle.

Great restaurant with a great atmosphere and great service.
Brandon was our waiter. He was very friendly and helpful.
Our table of 4 got the brussel sprouts to share. They had a really good sauce on them, and the brussel sprouts were well-seasponed and crunchy.
I had the 8oz filet mignon. My girlfriend got the 14oz rib eye. We tried each others plates. Both were very tasty, but I think the filet mignon was better. The meat was more tender and buttery.
The filet was seasoned perfectly, and the sauce was delicious, too. The scalloped potatoes were amazing. The broccoli and carrots were also good.
For dessert, my girlfriend and I shared the chocolate soufflé and the lemon tarte. The lemon tarte was nothing special, in my opinion.
The chocolate soufflé was pretty good. I don't think I'd order either dessert again, though.
Overall, the food was really good and we all enjoyed our dinner. Thanks!

Absolutely the worst most over priced meal I’ve had in years. Very slow service despite only two tables used by customers in the restaurant at lunch. $31 for the tiniest caesar salad I have ever seen in my life. The “famous” ribs were tough and overly sweet like candy with barely any meat. I would gladly give them zero stars if I could. $120 for the worst lunch of my life. Complements to the chef and the amazing staff here. I was so embarrassed for being underdressed. Just happened to go where the wind blew us to. First of all the customer service was amazing. Greeted by the young lady in the front escorted us to our table. From their we were greeted by our server who he and another server took really good care of my boyfriend and my best friend. The manager even walked by to make sure we were taken care of. I mean talk about Superb service. Their appetizer for two was very very reasonable the food was amazing. The fish was so perfect every entree was like a rush of excitement different aromas hitting your senses and your tongue filled with delight. The fillet Mingon was so good medium rare of course to enjoy it fully. Oh my the Potatoes complimented the steak even with some veggies. Oh and the dessert the pineapple upside down cake I nearly left my soul at the table. It’s so crunchy savory perfect amount of sweetness and the texture was so fluffy. Of course we had to wash down our food with some mai tai which was a hint of spice. Then the Maui was great the Moscow mules reminded our friend when she was back home at Australia. So definitely worth the amount of penny coming here. Definitely highly recommend those to come have an awesome time

I loved the butterfish. It melted in my mouth. Portion was good and it came out hot just the way I like it. It was a 3 course meal with a choice of appetizers. I got the tempura crushed ahi roll. For dessert, I got the Thai Line Tart. It's not like the key lime pies in Florida's Key West but it was good and limey and tart.
I'm not a breast meat kind of person so I skipped the turkey breast meal. Others got lobster bisque and it has chunky bits of lobster in it. I tasted the pumpkin crunch cake and that was very festive and a great holiday dessert.

Excellent food and service. It got a little noisy around 8:00 pm. Several large parties of 8 or more. We had 10 at ours. Service and food were not compromised by our large group.

Every option was delicious. Spendy and good. The lobster bisque was fantastic!

The best ocean-fare; Ocean to table gatherings of ingredients that culminate into perfect harmonious perplexity on the taste buds! Cannot get any better than the fish shipped in from around the globe straight to your table after being grilled to a crispy grand finale!

The filet was fantastic. The veggies were only blanched, not cooked. Note to self: next time, ask for tender. Forgot to snap a pic!

Food is not bad, but nothing special. They serve typical fusion Hawaiian food from comfort to fine dining. The quality is decent but we used to eat here more because of the superb service and food quality, I think it has gone down a little after COVID years.

Service and food is always exceptional at any location! Great place to celebrate special occasions as they go above and beyond to make your day special.

Worst supposed fine dinning restaurant in Los Angeles. Completely ruined a celebratory night for my wife's graduation. Then upon speaking with the manager, he seemed less than concerned. But the service was decent

I'm kind of bummed I didn't get a chance to try this restaurant, but I can't say I care to pay a premium for bad service.
We had a reservation and made it on time. We were seated by the kind hostess, but that was the last we saw of anyone until we walked out 15 minutes later.
This is with 2 other tables around us being greeted and served water not to mention a number of staff walking by and/or looking in our direction.
They "cancelled" our reservation on OpenTable about an hour after we walked out, so I'm guessing it took that long for anyone to notice they had a table walk out. Real classy Roy's!
I'd recommend taking a stroll down to Ono's Hawaiian BBQ if you get stiffed like us. You'll get a nice walk and pay 25% of the cost!

Checked in and seated fairly quickly but was never greeted by the waiter not even any water was brought to our table. We waited about 15 mins before we left. This was part of a reservation done through OpenTable they ended up cancelling it I would guess to prevent a bad review on OpenTable.

Roy's has long been one of my favorite restaurants, be it on Oahu, in the SF Bay Area, or this one right by Disneyland. I always get the short ribs, and have never found a place that surpasses how Roy's prepares it. We dined here recently with some old friends, and once again, I was not disappointed. Great short ribs, tender beyond belief, rich and flavorful, with decadent mashed potatoes underneath. Service was excellent, and we had some nice attention from the manager as well. I was sad to hear from my friend that most of the Roy's branches throughout the mainland have closed, with Anaheim being one of only two remaining on the mainland. I sure hope this one survives -- it was fairly empty when we were there (although we did start dinner on the late side).

We were in town for a conference and there were a lot of choices for dinner. We picked Roy’s because it was close by. And it was the best pick!! Our waiter, Lindsay, is the best. Very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Then Spencer is a great GM. He came by and chatted with our table. Then Chef Patrick came by as well to see how the food was. Overall, we love the place. But the folks made it special for us. Mahalo!!!

Great spot to come for a work lunch. Food was well prepared and wait staff was friendly and helpful. Ordered spicy salmon poke bowl which was very good. Others ordered the wagyu burger (looked phenomenal) and the house salad with shrimp

What a great lunch we enjoyed today from the new lunch menu! So many great choices, perfectly displayed and delectable. A bit on the expensive side, but you deserve it!

Upscale pricing with subpar food. Also the waiter will ask what soup or salad you want with your meal, which is not included and you won’t find out until you get the bill.

This place exceeded our expectations! It was the best salmon I ever had and my husband ordered the wagu sushi which was also delicious! The only complaint is they only have 3 locations and none in Idaho.
WE NEED ONE IN IDAHO PLEASE!!

Upscale Hawaiian focused spot in the Garden Walk. Came here for dinner with my parents on a Friday evening and made a reservation in advance. We had the canoe sampler for the appetizer and even though it’s meant for two people, we were able to split it amongst the three of us. My dad particularly loves the spring rolls they have. I had the jumbo tiger shrimp as my entree, which came with 6 pieces of shrimp and a very small amount of noodles. My mom had the classic combo, while my dad had an order of a sushi roll. They were out of salmon on that particular night and so the classic four dish was unavailable. The entrees were all on the smaller side, so I would suggest ordering some sides if you’re on the hungrier side. Service was friendly and checked in on us often. They inquired about allergies at the beginning of the meal and since my mom is allergic to shrimp, they were very clear and direct in terms of what may potentially trigger her allergies.
Credit cards accepted. Paid garage parking (no street parking available). Bathrooms located in the back right hand side. It is good for large groups.

I have been to Roy's several times when I travel. The last two times have not been a great experience. My advice is to avoid this place when they are really busy. I like the concept, I like some of the food but the quality suffers when they are full. They can't seem to handle it. The last time, my steak was so salty it was inedible, and I really like salt/seasoning. This time, the steak was raw - purple raw. The carrots were cold and hard and the potatoes were stone cold, barely heated. It was a square of pre-cooked potatoes cut from a pan and not heated properly. I can forgive the pre-cooking part because you can't serve that volume of people and fresh cook everything, root vegetables are always going to have to be at least partially cooked in prep. If it was a smaller, less expensive place that was overswhelemed, I would forgive it, but it is expensive, we spent $500 for 3 people, They can afford the staff and the systems to serve food correctly. They can afford a chef to check the quality on the pass before it goes out. I won't be doing any more business dinners there, it's embarrasing to take clients there.

This was my first time. And folks I’m here to tell ya… the sea bass and the wagu sushi roll specifically was amazing! The best tasten sushi roll SmokenTone has ever tasted! Superb place to eat at in Anaheim,CA

Went for our anniversary. Wasn’t sure what to expect, but couldn’t be more pleased. The short ribs were outstanding. Wife said the shrimp were good too!! Not in Hawaii but the Mai Tai’s weren’t to bad. Service made the experience perfect. Definitely would go back. Oh and the Pineapple Upside Down cake was great too!!

The food here and the service was spectacular! We used to have a Roy’s in Chicago and I am so sad it’s no longer here because the food is simply fantastic. My husband and I visited here on a recent trip to California for our anniversary and ordered the appetizer sampler (highly recommend), Roy house martinis and sushi rolls and everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. Also make sure to save room for the pineapple upside down cake for dessert — it’s worth it! :)
