All you can eat sushi everyday closed on tuesday
Would not recommend to sushi lovers. I visited while passing through Tucson and I am struggling to find kind words to say. My experience started when I entered, standing at the front door without greeting for about 5 minutes. They eventually told me to sit anywhere I like and proceeded to take another 10 minutes to bring me the menu. From there out the staff was nice but noticeably slow in service. The sushi is very low quality and lacks several ingredients commonly found in sushi rolls. I found myself having a tough time finishing my order due to the quality of the fish and an equally difficult time tracking down a staff member to get the final check. I had high hopes based on prior reviews but it seems the management has changed.

I genuinely believe you can never go too wrong with all you can eat sushi. Here, they benefit from this belief. AYCE Sushi for $30...Sign-us up!
The sushi was not of highest quality, but they still had a few good rolls. The servers were too attentive (maybe even annoyingly so). Unlimited refills on drinks and, in my case, ginger & wasabi too! I was not a fan of their handrolls, so I didn't finish it...But they were not sticklers for the waste charge, so that was nice!

Update - we went in the evening, they took 40 minutes to bring our first roll. We ordered a couple. Then they didn't tell us they had a last call and the kitchen was closed, so we didn't get to order anymore because they took TOO LONG to bring the rolls. We were NOT happy about that.
One of the very few places still doing AYCE! We paid just under $30 per person, and we shared 10 rolls... finished every single piece. It's decent quality. We will definitely return. We went on a Saturday at 3pm. It was fairly full most of the time we were there. The wait after our order of sushi was fairly long, but our waitress was GREAT! It took us 2 hours to complete our experience... I was happy with the variety of rolls available! Inside was clean and not run down like many other places we've been for sushi. Thank you for offering all you can eat!

UPDATED 2 years later:
I decided to try this place again. I really enjoyed everything I ordered! The rice was a lot better than the first time. The AYCE includes some elaborate rolls in addition to nigiri. Waitstaff is also great!
I really like this place and will start coming here regularly. I would definitely recommend this place now!
Original:
This place is okay. Their sushi rice seemed a bit hard, and not very sticky. The service was painfully slow. I sympathize with the staffing shortages, but it's a shame that it interferes with the dining experience. There are a lot better sushi places in town.

Re edit: We dine here EVER TIME we are vacationing in Arizona, which is twice a year! We look forward to the great and unique type sushi. We smile and enjoy supporting the owners and staff. Thank You! And, see you again next time!
Edit: We are finally back to visit. And, like I said, we will visit every time we are back here. Owners/staff were nice, food was great and especially compared to the regular sushi places. THANK YOU. See you next time. 👍✌️🤟
Really good!! We have been to MANY sushi places and this one has a lot of nice and special things on the ayce menu. We are from out of state but will dine here EVERY time we are in the area! Thank you.

I always stop in here when traveling. This is one of the best sushi restaurants I’ve ever eaten at in the states. The atmosphere and quality are top tier! Be warned this is a popular restaurant with limited seating so there can be a wait. It is worth the wait every time I go! I suggest it for the family or a fun date! I will be coming back here as long as they are open!

My boyfriend and I have been going here once a week for almost a year now. We’ve never had a problem with the food or service. For those of you who see the reviews on here that say the sushi is “weird” or doesn’t have things commonly found in sushi, please read the back of their menu. It’s not ment to be traditional (USA style) Japanese sushi. For the price, quality, and service you really can’t get much better than this!

Food is great service is terrible if the owner/her husband isn’t there I love the all you can eat but the only thing that isn’t good ( in my opinion) is the crystal shrimp I think it’s a little salty the stuff I get an highly recommend is the crab hand rolls and octopus nigiri the spicy crab is amazing I love the owner but I can only give 4 stars do to her staff

Well I did a local FB group page search for recommendations on an AYCE sushi. Husband and I went to IOU off of Oracle due to the many posts that recommended it.
Never again. Upon entering, there was a lingering odor of fish, not in a good way. That should have been our first clue. But we still sat down. A gentleman greeted us nicely and explained the difference between the lunch menu and the upgrade to the "dinner" menu. We decided to go all in. We ordered 5 rolls and 5 nigiri for what we had originally anticipated as our first round. Well everything tasted slightly off/old. Bits were rubbery, rice undercooked and we had to ask for chopsticks and napkins. We struggled to finish but we didn't want to be charged more for not finishing. My husband who isn't very picky was sorely disappointed. It was $73 excluding tip for 2 sushi AYCE and 2 ice teas.

Good food. However, check your take out order before you leave the restaurant. This is the third time my order was not 100% completed.

My husband and I went here for lunch today (Saturday). We were greeted and told to be seated anywhere we liked. The hostess/waitress helped us right away and explained the menu to us as it's our first time there. They had two options a lunch time AYCE menu ($26.99) and dinner time AYCE menu ($29.99) which included their signature rolls. We went with the dinner AYCE to try out their signature rolls.
We ordered the following:
Godzilla Roll - this was our favorite. It was had a nice crunch and flavor.
Arizona Roll - this was good. We liked the tobiko sprinkled on top of the roll. It was a savory balance.
IOU Temaki - my husband wanted to try this. It was good, but it was a little heavy with the cream cheese and rice.
Rainbow Temaki - this was a perfect balance of fish and rice and tobiko.
Yellowtail Nigiri
Octopus Nigiri
Unagi Nigiri
Tuna Nigiri
*the Nigiri weren't special. The orders were fresh and we enjoyed them.
Service: the waitresses were attentive and made sure we got our refills in a timely manner. They came by to make sure the order was correct and to get our second order in a timely manner.
The establishment: It's a smaller restaurant. Kind of a mom & pop feel. It's clean and the staff made sure to wipe tables down as soon as customers left their tables.

Got there before 3:30 for lunch prices, Got charged for dinner prices. Everything else on the menu is spelled out very clear, except for that if you order special rolls it will charge dinner rates and of course the server failed to mention that while we were ordering, hense the 3 for service and making up the difference out of her tip. Being forthcoming with me would have got her another $6 today. Place had a dirty feel to it overall. My wifes salad on her plate had brown wilted lettuce and my sushi was mediocre. The A.Y.C.E. is not worth the price for appetizers to not be included in the choices. Likely will not visit again.

Very impressed. I read about the long wait times so brought a book, but honestly it felt pretty average. The woman that took my order was bubbly, helpful, and just overall a delight. The place looks rather unassuming but the food speaks for itself. The quality was great and the options were really impressive for the AYCE price. I'll be making the 30 something minute drive back.

This place customer service is questionable went on a Sunday and there were hardly anyone and I just saw the employee talking and just socializing instead of actually working or making the food the food was ok feel like they didn't take there time into making the food or put much effort food tasted very funny

Staff was great, but the sushi was pretty pathetic and some of it even gross. Way too much mayonnaise to the point of being sickening. Very bland and some of it weird tasting. Hand rolls had so much rice that three hand rolls had about a cup and a half of rice between them. Paid nearly $70 for two people on all you can eat sushi and it definitely was NOT WORTH IT. 10/10 would not recommend.

Didn't eat here but went with friends.
Staff seemed rude, They didn't pay attention to us until someone came and asked if we ordered. We said no, she walked away, came back and asked, " You said no?" Took the order and just walked away. At the end, just picked up the plates and walked out. Who seemed to be the manager was just sitting down the entire time talking to the kitchen staff. Not once did they acknowledge for ignoring us. I for sure won't be going back.

Do not order via any delivery app unless you like getting just the food with no condiments whatsoever. I mean seriously, no wasabi, soy sauce, or ginger in a $60 order, even when requested through the app. And this isnt just this one time, this has been the past few times trying to order through them.
Edit: Sorry but you didnt. There was nothing in there except the sauce for the vegas roll and thats it. nothing for the rest of the food. I requested it through the app and asked the driver to check and they told me you told them it was in the containers with the sushi. I dont get to order sushi much and i actually like your sushi when i have the right condiments so its kinda frustrating when you get skimpy.

Food is fantastic if you can actually get any. The servers act as if you aren’t there, dropping food/check and practically running away without a word. Food: meh average
Service: The waitress was forgetful on our food and drink order but not on gossiping with colleagues. You should lower your pre selected tip suggestions, starting it 18% really?
Atmosphere: cleanliness of restaurant could be a lot better. Start with bathrooms and your floors.

We love IOU! They have one of the only "all you can eat" sushi options in all of tucson. Their staff is friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about food allergies. I often get custom rolls and they still count towards my all you can eat allotments. Great vibe, amazing staff.

The food here is really good. Super good specialty rolls and the best salmon skin hand rolls I've ever had.
However, the food takes an inexcusable amount of time to come out. The guys rolling the sushi get sidetracked by conversations with each other or other staff members. I'm all about making work more bearable but not if it detracts from the customer experience. Even with only 2 other people in the restaurant, it takes about 30min for a couple rolls to come out

Awesome place for all you can eat sushi. I’m constantly returning for their Palikir roll. Service could use some work. But their sushi is prepared as ordered and great presentation.

From 5months ago, just did a couple edits recently:
The food is delicious, my favorite is the salmon nigiri, but wow is it slow. In my last visits, it has taken about 1-2 hours to actually get your food during dinner time. Be prepared for that and don't come hangry.
Visited a year ago
This place takes a long time to fulfill orders. It seems like they don’t have a system in place to get orders done quickly, efficiently, and based on priority. I waited 15 minutes before they told me “they would start working on it now.” This was the Monday night shift team. I don’t recommend this place. I’d probably go to Sarku Japan or another restaurant inside the mall if you care about customer service and not having to wait a while for your order.

Best place for my little party of 6 kids and myself! And they accommodated us so well! We didn't do the all you can eat but 4 Surf lunch specials did the job lol! Terri always knows her stuff and always takes care of us! Caleb was awesome! I know 6 kids is a lot to handle and he handled us like a champ, my family and I LOVE the sushi from here, it is decently priced for sushi! Annnnd the quality of the food is immaculate ! Don't even get me started on the upside town tempura shrimp! Oooooh and the Jalapeño bombs! By far the best things on the menu! I've been stoping by for years and let me tell you it's still keeps to its name! I always recommend this spot to anyone! 🥰😋 It's by far the best in town!

Never got sat, so we sat ourselves. The gal came and took our order for drinks then brought us drinks and menus at the same time and then never came back. We literally sat there for 20 minutes watching other people who had just come in get served I will never go back to this location.

Our favorite all-you-can-eat sushi place! Great prices, delicious sushi. Their hand rolls, specialty rolls (I recommend shrimp killer and godzilla), and nigiri are incredibly tasty.
Visited a year ago
Arrived and atmosphere was very unwelcoming from first glance. We waited around 35 minutes and inquired multiple times on the status of our food. Chairs moved around a lot, when we got up it lifted. They had a decent amount of staff and it wasn't overcrowded with people or busy, so I assume it should've been done in a reasonable amount of time. Our waitress didn't come up to notify us about the wait, or check up on us. She walked by numerous times and never came up to us after we ordered unless we asked. They were serving other people that came in after us, which just screams terrible service. Four people with not a lot of requested food shouldn't be that hard to serve. It takes zero effort to come up to your customers and apologize about a half hour wait. Staff didn't give a crap about us, they seemed very unenthusiastic. Usually, you want to treat your customers like people because you never know how they'll react. We are not coming back, nonetheless recommending it. Awful service.

Best Japanese food in Tucson…by far. We’ve been coming here for years, and they never disappoint. While my wife throughly enjoys the sushi, I enjoy their cooked options. My favorite is the unagi (eel) hand roll.
Owners Terry and Gerner are the sweetest people ever, and they rely heavily on their long time key employees Zack and Ryan. The four of them make us feel like family every time we visit.
Visited a year ago
The server was quick in taking my order. With only a handful of customers in the restaurant food took longer than I expected. Spam roll was interesting and the Dragon roll had charred eel and an almost honey sauce, instead of eel sauce, that I do not think paired well.

This place is pure trash. Sushi is no good, it’s all imitation food, rice is uncooked and veggies have brown spots on them. Super super inedible, we complained and they didn’t do anything about it. Just offered to remake the sushi, the food was bad, the service was less than mediocre and the people hanging out inside were also rude. They were friends of the staff and were loud and obnoxious, they have no place else to hang out so they hang out in a booth there. What a low class place, we will never return. Not to mention the prices are ridiculously high, how can you charge so much for garbage. We will never be back, what a disgusting place.
The owner replied like I had the wrong place, no this is the correct place. Your place is way way below par.

My pride got the best of me. I ordered over 9 items on the all you can eat. It was a challenge. I was hungry. But I conquered my demons, took occasional breaks and watched Spiderman No Way Home on their tv, paced myself, and consumed all that was on the tray.
The food was just so good. I miss sushi from being stationed in Japan. Thanks for letting me enjoy your food. The portions are the most generous I have ever witnessed. The Salmon Skin hand roll was my favorite, next to the jalapeno bomb. I am only sad that I live 1.7 hours away.
Service was amazing. I never had to ask for a refill.
This was the only meal I had today, and I am satisfied and happy.

The food is absolutely delicious here. I will absolutely come back again and again to this place. Melina was my server for my first time here and she was wonderful! The only reason why IOU comes up short of 5 stars for me is getting my food took so long. I waited over half an hour for my first plate of food to arrive and 10-15 minutes for a couple pieced of Nigiri. Granted, they were slightly slammed, but I saw people get food who got there after me. I think it was an honest mistake but it did effect my experience there. Will definitely come back regardless. The staff and food we're that good!

Absolutely wonderful service and very relaxed feel to this restaurant. I could tell the sushi with fish quality was lacking and did not like a lot of the rolls. However, the spam roll was amazing. Was like spam musabi. I'm not sure I'll return, but it was a decent experience.
Visited a year ago
If I could give zero stars for service I would. Please Don't go here if you party is more then 2 people because your food won't come out at the same time or might not even arrive at all! My family was almost done eating and our 2 other orders didn't come out! When talking to the manager about the situation, she was rude and defensive about it instead of trying to make things right! Oh ..and did I mention they don't bother refilling your drinks either! Stay away from this place! Very unprofessional running a restaurant business!

After reading a review we decided to give this a try... IT IS OUTSTANDING!!! The nigiri - scallops were creamy and delicious, seared tuna was perfect in taste and rich in color, Temaki - Honor and Leilanie were killer, Vegas roll had a light tempura and was deep fried perfectly.... BUT... DO NOT miss the jalapeno bomb from the appetizer menu. It was the BOMB. definitely order the large portion because you will want more!!! Absolutely, the best item we had was the tempura upside down shrimp... I could have eaten a dozen! Staff was great, super personable!

We enjoyed the all you can eat sushi. The Spicy Q and the tempura upside down shrimp sushi were our favorites.
The service for food was slow, but it wasn't bad. Because there were decks of cards at each table, we played uno. And for the quality of the food, I think it was worth the wait.
We really appreciated the waiter who made sure we got a dairy free roll. We will be coming back!

Usually we go here and we have okay service and pretty good food. This time the service was outright horrible. How to ask for wasabi ginger, Is soy sauce, Siracha and salt. We each got one napkin per person. The pieces of sushi that were supposed to be cold were warm. This was by far the worst experience i've ever experienced @ IOU sushi. Never got refills on our drinks and never got a Seconds on are all you can eat sushi, It was that gross. This experience made it where i'm never going back! Oh and I saw one of the servers on break picking his nose 🤢🤮

I have been here 4 times and each time has been a great experience. The food is delicious and my daughter loves the AYCE sushi. I think this is a good deal, the times we go its usually $25 but I think that it may be more on weekends? I'm not positive. The sushi here is South Pacific style so if that's what you like, I recommend this place. On Tuesday, it turns into Mama Carey's fried fish place. (I found this out by accident, but it sure did smell good). The service has been good and the place is very casual.

What an incredible find. Everything about this place was awesome. The all you can eat special includes baked green mussels and other not so every day selections. The vibe is great. Even though the place was busy the service was quick and friendly. Everything seemed to flow at this joint. The chefs work in harmony and the owner seems to be the hub of the wheel helping everybody and greeting all the customers and making sure everybody is having a wonderful time. This is definitely my new go to spot.

You will wait a long time. However it may be worth it because the quality is exceptional and this is one of the last ayce sushi spots in tucson. We ordered at 5:15 and sushi didnt come out till 6:04 . However our next order came out just 20 mins after. Don't go expecting your food quick in and out. If you have time and some good conversation you won't mind the time.

My partner, his daughter and I went to IOU Sushi for dinner on Sunday. We all got the all you can eat menus. We enjoyed our sushi rolls and hand rolls. I just love the hand rolls as they're stuffed to the top. The last time I came here was maybe 2 months ago and I didn't not like the Sriracha sauce they put over all the rolls. I made sure they omitted the extra sauce as for me it took away from the taste of the rolls.
This place has ample outside parking and was wheelchair accessible. The environment was clean and had a nice vibe. It's a family friendly eatery that we'll go back to.

Eat here quite a bit, have encountered small issues that have all be rectified during the visit.
Great pricing, good selection, pleasant environment.

Extremely slow service. We arrived at 2:10pm, finally got our appetizers at 2:49pm, without plates or soy sauce. Waited another 5 minutes to ask the waitress for it. The rolls were saggy. It's probably a good place to go if you're looking for all you can eat sushi value.

This is my go to sushi spot. The owners are fantastic and the seafood is always fresh.

Awful service for mediocre sushi... They will blame it on being short staffed, however the waiters and waitresses will stand in the middle of the store chatting and texting while you wonder where your food is. Not even during a rush, I'd ask for an update on my order that would be 6 pieces of sushi an hour in still haven't gotten my first plate, the 3rd waitress to visit our table said the chef's don't make per ticket, instead they focus on one piece. Be aware of what you order, make sure the chefs are making it. Rude staff and poor service.

You will leave hungry and disappointed after 2.5 hours of waiting

Food was pretty good but a little pricey, staff were short handed and they did the best they could but as the restaurant filled up, service became very slow. They were out of crab puffs and the green muscles which was a little disappointing however, the crystal shrimp with cream cheese roll was amazing.

You could be the only person there and they would still take 2 hrs to get your food ready lol

Waste of money! Short staffed and I could have bought better sushi from Safeway. That’s $ I’ll never get back!

The sushi is disgusting not the mention the rolls they give you don’t even have filling in the middle it’s just straight rice. Very small portions they just give you rice don’t recommend. They also put this caramel sauce that we’ve never seen on sushi before it’s super sweet and not good.

The best Sushi I've had in 10 years. Possibly Ever. Had a nice big bottle of Kirin beer to set the mood right. Absolutely the best place I could've taken my wife. We loved our date. I'll hold onto that moment as long as my mind lets me. I'm drooling even now.

I came here to get together with some friends of mine for All-You-Can-Eat Sushi.
At the beginning I was pretty much ignored by the waitress until someone ask me If I got attended and I told her "no". She got me some water then she took my order.
The food was delicious and the best part they take their time to do it the Sushi right. Love the presentation of the food.

Very friendly staff, food was amazing! It’s really neat seeing all the food that is going to be prepared and knowing it’s fresh. Got a beef teriyaki bowl and was by far the best teriyaki bowl I’ve had. Definitely a must try and will be going back often.

If you have more than an hour to spare, and enjoy mediocre sushi then this is the spot for you! With 10 tables, and 8 employees on the floor at all times, you’ll be amazed by the amount of time you can spend waiting on food that does not need to be cooked! So make sure to stop by at IOU where the slogan is “Hurry up & wait!”.

I don't know why this place has good ratings. Being from Nevada we know what Sushi should taste like. We wanted to try this place for a while. We were seated rather quickly. We ordered the All You Can Eat. Our first order took a little over 20 minutes. Another gentleman sat at the table beside us and he ordered probably 10 minutes after us. We were ready to place our second order of Sushi and the waitress finally noticed. We waited for 25 minutes and we still hadn't received our order. The gentleman next to us still hadn't received his food as well. He left. We then saw her picking up an order but once we saw that it wasn't ours we got up to leave as well. We paid $54 for the worst Sushi and service. The guys preparing said there are only two of us. I'm sorry...that kiddo is the time you need to step it up a notch. They were not busting it by any means. Never ever will we return. Awful service and the food was terrible as well.

My meal (salmon and shrimp teriyaki) was fine. My daughter and her husband got the all you can eat sushi, which cost them $28.99 each. The service was not good. The sushi took a very long time to be made, each time it was ordered. There was a sweet teriyaki sauce on almost all the sushi which did not compliment the sushi. My son-in-law has a serious allergy to gluten and the menu did not show that one of the sushi rolls had a small amount of tempura on the inside that he didn’t see until after eating some. They tried different rolls and tried to eat everything that was brought to them, but they were not happy with the food. When they asked for the check, the server told them that they had to eat one more piece of sushi or they would be charged extra. They were not taking the leftovers home. My kids explained that they did not like the food, and instead of showing concern, or giving a discount, or a coupon for next time, they were told they still had to eat one more piece or they would be charged the price of that roll on top of the $60 they were paying for poor service and distasteful food. Super angry and disappointed. 👎🤢😡!!!

Service was trash. Waited an hour to be served, server gave me a fork that she was touching with her gross hands. Menu doesn’t indicate which rolls have allergies like nuts or gluten. Food was 5/10, “sweet sauce” is on EVERYTHING lol. Would not go again

Honestly probably the worst sushi experience I’ve had. And almost every roll is smothered in a weird Teriyaki sauce. Also the service is incredibly slow. A long wait for a dissatisfying experience.

Had an excellent 1st time experience. Had the all-you-can-eat, awesome fresh fish. Some rolls were a little different from the expected tradition but still great.

Generic decor, lifeless customer service, food came in waves people were done with their food before some of the table had gotten anything. Sushi was meh, barely any fish options. Everything is tempura, fried etc...
Probably an alright place when it's not busy and the staff isn't moving slower than gastropods

The food is good with generous portions. It took 30 minutes to get any food though. When asked we were told others got their food before us who came after us because we ordered a lot. Other restaurants with an all you can eat menu send some of your food out for you first then you just wait for the rest.

Had the AYCE sushi. Was great!! They allow you to order any of the rolls on the menu. I ordered 4 total rolls one hand roll and several Nigiri. The super Q roll has to be one of the best rolls I have ever had anywhere. The torched top gives it a Smokey flavour that is to die for. I would come back just for that roll!!!

I came here yesterday on my birthday. Since leaving Vegas I have missed the AYCE sushi places. Not having any in AZ is absolutely miserable and I can't wait to leave this state, but having IOU sushi makes AZ just a little bit more tolerable for me. Worth the hour travel for me. I enjoyed everything I ate.

I highly recommend this restaurant. We were a table of 7 people and everyone loved it.

I've been here numerous times. Quality is consistent. They have their own spin on sushi that is very likable. The staff is always kind and friendly. The place is always clean.

Great place to eat. I felt service could have been quite a bit better but i seemed they were training people. Definitely dropped in quality from a year ago.

If you order soup, appetizers, and entrees, do not expect to get them in any sensible order. You would think they would bring your soup, salad or appetizers first. Oh no, that would be too easy.
The bowl of miso soup tasted like they could have added two more bowls of water and then it would be good. Otherwise it tasted like it was made from concentrate with no water added.
I went there for lunch today with a friend who apparently knew the owners. I thought perhaps that would warrant better service…perhaps?? No such luck.
I approached the counter and asked for my soup because I knew (like the last three times I had been there) that it was going to all come out at once unless I said something. When I did say something I could tell that they thought I was an @$$hole. Hey man, I’m paying, I don’t see how hard it is to serve your patrons in the the order of how their food was ordered. Who wants their entree before their appetizers?
Additionally, some of their responses to a few of these reviews clearly show us the mindset of the owners (e.g., Confrontational, Defensive, etc.). But hey, a lot of people love them. But sadly, a lot of people seem to settle for less.
I wish the all the luck in this New Year.
