Sushi rolls, ramen bowls & cocktails are served at this casual venue with modern decor & a patio.
Prior to our visit, my parents had an amazing time here, but we were left a bit disappointed. The food was good, no denying that. The ramen was great and the sushi was excellent. The only downside was the fried rice, greatly over sauced and salty. The server took it back and replaced it was a much better one. However, they forgot to serve us the gluten free version and we almost had an incident occur. Speaking of the service, while our server was polite, he failed to check in. However, the place was busy. Overall I’d give it an 8/10. Recommend coming for the sushi!

OMG! We had to sample so many items here. Everything was so good. The ramen had a delicious spice to it. I love it hot. Even had blistered Shishito peppers in it. The sushi was amazing. Loved the flavor combos and the size was perfect for bite size. Sometimes sushi comes too large and makes it difficult to eat. Highly recommend the crispy rice sampler.

Food was good, but service was pretty bad.
There were multiple times we needed something and our server was nowhere to be found for the next 10-15 minutes.
I had to ask her for a to-go container 3 times, and when she boxed up my ramen, she only put in the noodles and meat and discarded all the broth.
I wouldn’t say any of the drinks here are worth your money.
We had:
- PORK BELLY BAO: not enough sauce, pork was overcooked, dry, flavorless, and hard to chew
- BIRRIA GYOZA: tasted like normal gyoza, none of us could taste what made it birria
- TONKOTSU RAMEN: pretty tasty, not impressive
- DRAGON ROLL: if you like eel it’s great, a good size too
- OCTOPUS AND TUNA NIGIRI: standard
- CRISPY RICE SAMPLER: the scallop and tuna ones were the best, I did not like the lemon on the salmon one
Overall I’m very disappointed considering how great other Tucson food has been. Won’t be recommending this place to anyone who comes to Tucson.

The atmosphere is cool, but that’s about it. We had terrible service and the food was just ok. Our server disappeared for long periods and we had to ask several times for drink refills. We brought our son to try sushi for the first time and had to ask repeatedly for a soy sauce dish and chopstick helpers for him. We also ordered off the kids menu for our son’s main course and when the bill came, had been charged for an adult meal. Our server claimed that we ordered the adult portion for him, while I was pointing at his coloring sheet and asking about a lid for his drink. Didn’t make any sense. The two Pork Belly Bao we ordered had zero meat and was literally a slab of fat. The service was slow and the food was even slower. It took 20 minutes for an edamame appetizer to hit our table. My husband’s ramen arrived 10 minutes later, followed by the chicken teriyaki we ordered for our son. And my sushi roll arrived around the 40 minute mark. Nothing came out together and it certainly was not timely. Our bill was a bit pricey for how terrible the service was. Nothing special about this place and we definitely wouldn’t recommend it.

The food is great! I’ve been a few times and everything always tastes amazing, and the restaurant is beautiful. What sucks is the service, they don’t come around to check on you often and today I was trying to call to get more information about a post I saw that they’re doing a Japanese brunch from 10am-3pm. I sat on hold for 10 MINUTES until the phone hit its automatic hold time and hung up on me. So sad that a restaurant with terrific food and quality environment is staffed by individuals that don’t care about the establishment.

Server was rushed and told me eel sauce came with the eel nigiri and when I got it, no eel sauce, very disappointed about that considering eel sauce is my favorite and I told her that it was. Refilled my boyfriends sprite without us having to ask but not my water, I had to ask for them to refill my water. Ramen broth and noodles was plain but the pork and the egg were pretty good on the top. Not worth the money in my opinion.

I was there with the Tucson foodie group for a research and development dinner. Many courses, most of them excellent. We rated each course for the chef, who is Tucson's top chef. It was a wonderful evening and enjoyed meeting new people

As others have stated, the service wasn't great, unfortunately. We started out with a male waiter and ended up with a new waiter half way through without an explanation as we watched our previous waiter continue on. They were acting rushed, and maybe they were that night, moving swiftly throughout the restaurant, setting food quickly onto the table and bouncing, and not much care was given to us. It made us feel rushed and uncomfortable to be there. We ordered ramen, and when we got our bowls, we were told there were no eggs that night. Ramen wasn't bad but wasn't oh my god great either. We had eaten at Noodleholics the night before, which I enjoyed much more than this place. If I came back to Tucson, I would most likely not revisit this place given there are many other restaurants to try in the area.

While this place is nice looking and it’s modern inside, that’s about it. My significant other and I went to lunch there on Sunday because they really like ramen and I really like Japanese cooked foods (we don’t go to sushi restaurants for ramen typically, this was an exception because “ramen” is in the name). They got the original obon ramen and I got the Kanto beef. I don’t think I’ve ever had something so salty in my life. The sauce on the beef was pretty salty (I also love salt so this is saying a lot), but I like the taste of the sauce. However the breaded beef that laid under the sauce was even saltier and combined I felt like my blood pressure was soaring with every bite. My significant thought their ramen was bland and probably the worst in Tucson (we go and try all kinds around this town). Service was meh, they forgot about us a lot even though it was really slow. For 88$ for two entrees and two appetizers, my wallet was crying (but it couldn’t because the salt of the meal absorbed the tears of my wallet).

This place is pretty legit! I love thier egg the most out of all of the other ramen places. its still runny to where you let it get into the broth itself and it makes the broth thicker and its pretty damn good.

I’d describe it as more of an interesting experience than a bad one! My review is based solely on my personal taste and that of my friends, so it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give it a try.
First, we are 100% Asian, born and raised, so we may be a bit particular when it comes to Asian food. We’ll go through each dish we tried today — it’s a bit long, but it might serve as a helpful reference if you're considering it.
Omurice: Plain taste and small portion, not exciting but acceptable. (5/10)
Tonkotsu Ramen: Good portion size, not too salty like other ramen spots in Tucson. I wasn’t a fan of the noodles, but overall it was okay. (7/10)
Salmon & Asparagus Roll: Unfortunately, this dish was not to our liking. While we finished it to avoid wasting food, the combination of ingredients didn’t seem to work well together in a sushi roll. Just because a dish contains a lot of Asian ingredients doesn’t automatically make it a good representation of Asian cuisine — it needs to be balanced and cohesive. (2/10)
Matcha Pancakes: A heads-up that this dish didn’t resemble the pictures seen on social media. It’s essentially American pancakes with matcha flavor and whipped cream on top. I was expecting something more like fluffy Japanese pancakes. Overall, it was just American-style pancakes, which was a bit disappointing. (3/10)
We tried a few drinks:
Bloody Mary: Too many ingredients made for an unpleasant flavor. It even came with a whole piece of meat on top for decoration. Thankfully, our server was kind enough to exchange it for another drink. As for the Sesame Latte and Strawberry Matcha, they were a bit plain but acceptable.
As for service, the wait time between dishes was an issue. My friend waited so long for their rolls that I had finished my ramen and omurice by the time they arrived. We don’t blame our server—she was amazing, very patient, very demure✨ We truly appreciate her efforts, and we believe this wasn’t her fault. However, it would’ve been better if the dishes had come out closer together, so we could enjoy our meals at the same time.
Just a note: our review today only reflects the specific dishes we tried and not the entire menu. However, if you're asking whether we would return, unfortunately, we would say no. There are other options at a more reasonable price that align better with our preference for authentic Asian flavors.

Ordered items off the newly advertised brunch menu and honestly was really underwhelming. Came for the Japanese matcha pancakes and got regular traditional pancakes made with matcha instead . There was also a hair on one of our strawberry matcha lattes. They also seemed to forget about a dish we ordered and had to remind them but at that point everyone else had already eaten. Honestly, not worth the wait and the price was way too expensive for what we got.

Great food, fantastic service, and awesome cocktails made with fresh ingredients! We kicked things off with the Classic Black Tea Old Fashioned and the Shiso Spicy Margarita. For our meal, we ordered the tuna and salmon sashimi, and the Tataki Maki Roll was definitely my all-time favorite. We also gave the Crispy Trio Sampler a shot—while it wasn’t our top pick, the tuna and salmon toppings were delicious, but the fried sushi rice felt a bit too oily for my taste. Overall, I’d absolutely come back again!

What are they thinking? My girlfriend ordered a beer. She noticed the glass was chipped and informed the waitress. All she did was bring another glass and set it down. So my girlfriend had to pour her beer into a new glass…not an elegant situation. What if the glass chip was in the mug? Any decent server would have taken away the whole thing and brought a new glass and beer.
Now, the food…
We ordered bao buns, a salmon roll, salmon roe nigiri, and crispy rice. The buns were so-so. Admittedly, there was plenty of pork, but the they were practically still dough they were so undercooked.
After that we waited like 10-15 minutes for the roll and the nigiri. The roll was okay but they cook their rice strangely. It almost seemed like long-grained rice or something. I’ve had sushi a thousand times, and this was just…weird.
Most disappointing was the nigiri. This is our favorite sushi treat, and its simplicity almost assures it will always be great. Almost…somehow they ruined this too. It was bitter to an extent that I momentarily wondered if it had gone bad. What did they add to it?
Finally, they served our sticky rice, probably 20 minutes after we ordered it. This dish was just plain confusing. There were two each of spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and scallops. The rice was formed into overcooked bricks. Seriously, the young lady at the table next to us mistook them for hash browns. And the toppings had really clashing flavor profiles. I mean, the (poorly cooked) scallops were doused in sour cream. Who does that?
Overall it may be the worst sushi meal either of us have ever had….and we eat out a lot.

Ratings of the foods I’ve tried so far
Sushi: mid for the price but won’t give you food poisoning so ig that’s a win in the southwest? Would occasionally get again
Pork bun: extremely mid for the price. Would not get again
Drink: their cocktail hour drinks slap. I got a pandan one, it was so light yet flavorful and perfect for the hot summers. Would definitely get again
Ramen: fine. Pretty salty. Would go somewhere else for better ramen
Chicken teriyaki: Omg. This was the best teriyaki I’ve ever had. The flavor was perfect, and not aggressive, the rice was fluffy, the mushrooms and broccolini were such an amazing combination. Will get every time I come.
Dumplings: solid. Would get again with a big group
The atmosphere is nice, and the misters outside are so refreshing in the summer. Would come back again

Honestly this place is pretty bad. Took them 15min to acknowledge us and ask us if we were ready to order or get drinks. Took an extra 40 min for two rolls to come to our table and the place was not busy at all. The service is bad as well. Never asked if we needed anything else or refills. After asking for the bill we asked 3 different employees for the bill and it took forever to arrive. Please don’t waste your time or money here.

Obon looked promising but didn't quite hit the mark.
My husband ordered the pork belly bao and we're disappointed. The pork itself wasn't crispy or exploding with flavor and the other ingredients were battling with temperature of the dish. It really was a lukewarm and cold bite which was confusing.
We got spicy street noodles as well that fell short. We must've had like 2 bites of chicken in that whole dish, and by no means is it a large dish as described.
The drinks were well made and delicious, the staff was super attentive.
Overall I would only come back for drinks but even then there's so many other places in the area that I may not come back at all because the food simply did not hit.

The food here was so so yummy. I had the Philly hand roll, the trio sampler (crunchy rice), the jackfruit bao, the deathfree ramen, and the green tea ice cream.
Very nice atmosphere where you can sit inside or outside and they had misters for outside which made the heat bearable and didn’t interrupt with our meal.
Service was very friendly and accommodating. Only thing is it seemed to take them quite some time to circle back to our table but maybe they were busy/short-staffed.
Definitely would eat here again.

Absolutely ridiculous wait time for ordering. I made a reservation for a party of 3, we arrived and they were behind on reservations so we had to sit at the sushi bar. Do yourself a favor, skip the hassle and get sushi from a gas station instead. It'll be way quicker and taste just as good, if not better.
Horrible, horrible, horrible. From start to finish our experience was unacceptable. We placed an order online and we're told it would be ready in about 20-25 minutes (estimated completion time was 6:56 pm). When I walked in to pick up my order, there was no hostess to talk to. So I waited. I finally got to talk to the hostess at about 7:20 and she told me it would be about 2-3 minutes (keep in mind, they're already 30 minutes late at this point). 20 minutes later, at just after 7:40, I finally get my food. When I get home, our ramen has a whole, uncracked egg instead of a peeled soft boiled egg like it's supposed to have. We called and the hostess was 'oh so sorry' about our experience. She put us on hold when we asked to speak to the manager. Unfortunately, the manager was too busy bartending to respond to complaints. I understand, I would rather be getting tips bartending than talking to unhappy guests too. But if that's the case for her, then maybe management isn't the right job and she should go back to being a bartender.
Pretty unreal levels of incompetence. I was utterly disappointed. This restaurant was so hyped up, I really thought I was going to enjoy my meal. But lesson learned, we won't be going back. Highly recommend y'all don't waste your time either.

Obon is impressive and beautiful, but the food has always just been okay. It's deeply overpriced for what you get and I've never left there feeling good about what I got for the price I paid. Cocktails are $16, nigiri is somehow almost $10, and ramen, which is $12-$14 everywhere else in town, is $19. I'd be happy to pay that if the ramen was spectacular, but it's not. Sushi rolls are around $20 and are a hit or miss - but the decent ones are not $4 a bite good. If you don't care about value and are just looking for atmosphere then this is the place for you.

I’m sure once you get the food it’s just swell. I wish I had the opportunity to review that. My first order: expected to deliver in 90 minutes and after 3 hours I canceled because the order still wasn’t ready for pick up. Today, I was feeling generous and offered a 2nd chance (we all deserve one, eh?). Welp, still waiting for my food pickup, 20 minutes after it said it was “ready”. Upon entering to ask the status, I was given two words before opening my mouth “not ready.” Who knows how long I’ll be waiting… but at this point, no need to try the food to know I’ll never be back. More than 2 hours of my life spent on a first bite of Obon? No doubt, wasted. Good luck all ye who follow.

Absolutely beautifully plated. For appetizer, we ordered miso soup which was bursting of flavor.
We then ordered Tataki Maki which was so pretty. We added crispy onions on top, but it was truly a masterpiece but also delicious. Floral taste aromas with a yummy spice.
Then we ordered a spicy tuna roll which was delicious as well.

Criminally overpriced for food that has been increasingly mediocre since 2020. The only reason I’d go back is for the Obon Edamame (management- I’ll give a five star review for your Asian chamoy recipe). Used to be my favorite place to get ramen and I absolutely love their pineapple sake. Unfortunately their prices have skyrocketed since 2 years ago. I waited 45 minutes after the hostess told me 10-15. Also It used to be $12.50 for the tonkotsu ramen, now it’s $18.50. Extremely disappointed in the TWO nigiri that I spent $9.50 on to go. Don’t bother ordering sushi, it’s too expensive and you don’t get very much at all. As much as I used to love this place I think I’ll be trying to find a new ramen spot. ☹️

I just had Obon for the first time tonight and it was amazing! Our fantastic server was Bella. She asked what we enjoyed to eat and then suggested what dishes we should try. I ordered the Bluefin crude, the shrimp friend rice and black tea, old fashion. It was delicious. Bella was cheery, knowledgable and had a great attitude, ( I asked a lot of questions) The atmosphere was hip and chic, a great vibe as soon as you walked in. I would totally recommend this awesome restaurant to everyone. I will definitely go back again.

The service was absolutely terrible. There was seating inside but because of how we looked we were sat outside. Then completely ignored and didn’t get served everyone who came and sat after us got served and orders taken.

Only thing that was good was the service.
Kanto Beef was one of the most God awful dishes I've ever tried. Beef was swimming in a soy reduction that was so salty as to be un-edible. I literally picked the beef and broccolini out and set it aside and the bowl had easily a half a cup of oil plus enough concentrated salty soy sauce to give everyone in Tucson a coronary. Disgusting.
Not much better were the pan fried dumplings. Some of them burnt on the outside yet barely warm in the middle.
Our server was great and they offered to change dishes but we declined. They did remove the beef from the bill so kudos for that. Not a do again.

Pro: Good spot, great ambiance, and the food was quite good. Nothing amazingly spectacular, but still delicious.
Con: Service. We went on NYE around 4:30 pm with a larger party, and the restaurant wasn’t busy at all. We were sat outside and barely attended to the whole time. The beer I received was on tap and flat and we saw our waitress maybe 3 times the entire night so I had to walk up to the bar to swap it out myself. Bartender was super cool about it and friendly. The fact we were barely attended to for anything we wanted was obnoxious and both the food and any drinks we ordered took an abysmally long time (45 mins roughly after food was ordered, our drinks took about 10-15) to come out to us. At the end of the night I was surprised to see that gratuity was automatically added. To say this had NOTHING to do with the fact we got bad service would be a lie. To some extent, it allows for bad service to occur and for the waitress to still get a tip that wasn’t deserved. Despite that - I still tipped for my portion on top of the added gratuity. It’s new years, and everyone has bad days. With that said - I probably won’t be coming back. First impressions matter.

I've been there twice. Both times the meals have been excellent. A good template for success is when 4 people go, order different meals, and each one feel that the meal they ordered is the best!

This place was not great. The service was terrible, our waiter and the hostess were rude. They got one of our meals wrong and the host said their sushi rice wasn’t gluten free when I asked if they had a gluten free menu. She did go check on that, but she just came back confused, which did not give me a lot of confidence. The food was overpriced and there was nothing special about it. It was a regular portion. None of us will be coming back.

Was not terribly impressed with Obon. Went on the recommendation of friends. Was able to be seated fair quick on a not very busy weeknight. The menu has a few selections of each category.
The food was trying to go for something unique and different, but misses the mark. It is not traditional and that is fine but it leaves something to be desired.
The pork buns were very fatty cuts.
The ramen lacked much flavor other than chili oil.
Sushi was good but other options looked to be a stretch.
The servers was attentive and did a good job.
At this price point we had higher expectations for food choices and selection.

I’ve been ordering dine in and take out from Obon since they first opened up here in Tucson, AZ. My family adores your food and we can’t wait to see you again soon! Thank you for all the years of impressive Japanese cuisine, we appreciate you so very much.

Our second time dining here and it was just as good second time round. We had the seabass special (beautiful sashimi with citrus cure), yellowtail collar (grilled to perfection), spicy tuna with crispy rice and the korean fried chicken sandwich (we will be back just for this alone!). Weather is now cool enough to sit on the patio and people watch. Drinks list is fun and unique. Prices are fair for the quality you're getting. We will be back!!

The food was ok. Some of the fish was pretty dry but everything else was nice. Pretty expensive though for Tucson for the quality

Went for Sonoran Restaurant week. Food was so good! Got birria bao buns, gyoza, birria ramen, and street noodles. Food was 10/10, drinks were 8/10. Service was really good too.

Some of their dishes have the flavor enhancer msg. It will give you a serious headache and/or upset stomach. Phweee!!!

First time there and we really enjoyed 🥰

Salmon roe was deflated and just ok, frozen not fresh, rice a little hard, quality not worth the 5$/piece. We ordered a spicy salmon roll and got salmon cucumber instead. We decided to eat it anyway and not exchange it, no big deal. The rice in the sushi was also hard and not very flavorful. The roll was falling apart at the ends and it had a bitter taste due to thick cucumber skin.
The Obon ramen bowl was good. The broth was rich and a gentle spicy. At 18$ it’s too expensive though, it would be priced more fairly at 12$
Everything here is too expensive for what you get. The quality is not there for what they charge.
Service was good.

The place was perceived to be fancy. Poudie said it’s just ramen. But we said screw it. We were black so that didn’t help either. Shannon was going in

First time here. Warmly greeted by host and seated immediately in a nice outdoor area with good music playing at just the right volume. Very friendly and attentive waiter treated us right. Food and drinks were served quickly. Cocktails were great, iced tea was the best I've ever had at a restaurant. Ordered sashimi dinner which was excellent, short ribs which were excellent but small portion, and house specialty roll which was fantastic. Prices are high, but not prohibitive, and the quality is definitely there. Will return.
***Second time here. Everything was great. Got ramen for the kids and sushi for myself. Everything fresh and tasty. They had a special birria ramen that stood out as excellent. All the fish was fresh. Service was excellent as well. Prices slightly high but not prohibitive, and on par with the quality. Will probably return more often.

The edamame special was really good including the korean chicken sandwich. Get the 22oz beers

Good food but over priced. Online ordering is horrible and even more overpriced due to service fees. Even if you order an hour in advance, food won't be ready.

Had the Katsu Chicken Pulled Pork Belly sandwich & it was amazing!!! Drink was on point, had the Black Tea Old Fashioned and it was strong but smooth. I'm definitely coming back again.

Definitely recommend a reservation! We made one mid afternoon for the evening and it was a game changer.
Overall ambiance was good. Service was alright, the server was definitely a bit busy but we didn’t see him as often as we would have liked to.
Food was okay. Honestly the specialty rolls seemed to be just trying to be unique and while they were, the flavors didn’t really go. It was good quality sushi for sure! Just wouldn’t do a tasting platter like we did 😂
Would go back for sure! Although we prefer other Tucson spots for a regular go to
*We didn’t try the ramen. My dinner mate did try the steak fried rice and I was told it was good.

5/10 overall. Shrimp tempura roll 7/10, drinks 7/10, bird bao bun 4/10, street noodles 5/10. Service 4/10 she was super nice but seemed to struggle to balance side work. Sleek semi-traditional Japanese atmosphere 9/10. I've been here before, probably 4-5 years ago, the sushi had been good & I'd really liked the pork belly bao, will probably return but stick to those tried & true items, since they are open late.

Good food. Happy hour was nice for a Sunday. Loved the spicy tuna hand roll and salmon hand roll. The nigiri was very fresh. Only issue was they forgot my spicy tuna roll, but it was ok because we were full by then.

Solid, but too pricey. Attended for happy hour and still ended up spending $50/pp.

The Bao buns are amazing! As well as the Yellowtail yuzu. The cocktails were inventive and perfectly balanced. The milk tea old fashioned was something I will be back for, have never had anything like it! Service was attentive and helpful. Highly recommend!

They need to restart wrapping the to go orders and using the plastic bags, the paper bags are weak and just dumped 50$ worth of food on the sidewalk

This was our second time here. Stopped for an amazing meal a few years ago, and wanted to go back for more. Food was phenomenal. Great place. Only downfall was that our server kept vanishing. We would have spent a lot more money by ordering more drinks but no one ever came back after dropping our food off. Had to ask someone else if they could bring the check. Would go back because I'm sure that was just a 1 off experience?
