Sushi Friend transforms fresh, seasonal ingredients into delectable sushi dishes. Diners can choose from a menu brimming with nigiri, sashimi, and creative sushi rolls, perfect for both takeaway or a dine-in experience.
My husband just got knee surgery so we couldn't go anywhere for my birthday so we wanted to order in but still make it celebratory. First off the ordering online and delivery was flawless and I have no notes. Everything came well packaged and on time. I ordered ahead of time and got a sushi cake! Everything was phenomenal from the rolls to the cake itself and I would highly recommend them. I have told everyone I know about the sushi cake, what a fun idea!

I love Sushi Friend! I wish I lived closer cause I would eat here all the time. The vibes are chill, the atmosphere is simple and to the point, service is great, and the sushi is so fresh! I love Otoro nigiri and they have one of the freshest fatty tuna nigiri I would say around town. I’ve eaten here a couple of times and like to get their platter cause I feel like you’re getting the best bang for your buck. Would highly recommend!

Awesome little sushi shop. Located in the North Central corridor in sunnyslope. Excellent little shop that you wouldn't know it was there unless somebody told you where it was. Once you have found it you have found the best sushi in this part of town with a very cool and charismatic owner of the shop. Kevin makes everybody feel welcome and the food is excellent.

Not only is the sushi amazing and incredibly fresh, I’d suggest getting here right at opening because being the first to get sushi is awesome. This is our second time within 5 days and we don’t regret it. Not only that the music playlist is off the chain. Amazing sushi, good vibes and good location come here ASAP!

Before coming here, I thought sushi is sushi. There’s worse sushi, but what makes sushi better?
This sushi knocked me out. It was AMAZING. I ordered a hand roll to snack on and after the first bite I literally paused because it was so good. Something about the way they perfectly prepare these simple ingredients is magical. Also, I’ve never had jicama in a roll and I was obsessed with the flavor and crunch it added!
I also was very pleased with the service. The food was ready within the time allotted by my check out register. I had requested one sushi roll not to have avocado and the man who prepared my order very kindly saw that avocado was in my hand roll and served it on the side, in case I didn’t want it. That extra step of thoughtfulness was just so lovely.
I can’t wait to go back.
Oh also - I see a lot of reviews talking about there only being a couple tables. I’m not sure if they bought the space nextdoor recently, but they have a bunch more tables. I was there on a weekday and I wouldn’t worry about them not having seating; maybe on the weekend, if anything.

Y’all definitely give this place a try! A no frills place with quality food👌and a reasonable price. Stopped in with my parents who both said they weren’t hungry as we got there a bit early for dinner so I assumed we would have some leftovers. We devoured that platter of sushi😂. There was literally not a piece left within 20ish mins. Works are super friendly, place is clean, and food is fresh and well made. Rolls are good and have unique flavors without being dowsed with sauces. The tuna roll (far left with the jalapeño) was my favorite. The seared salmon roll next to the nigiri is apparently their best seller and is very tender. The nigiri are so so good-rice is perfectly good and good rice to fish ratio, the fish is fresh, it includes a perfect amount of wasabi, and the green topping (some type of pepper I think) is such a great addition. Definitely try the nigiri.
There is parking in front of and behind the restaurant.

I was disappointed with my order today. I ordered the salmon bowl and they substituted the cucumber salad with seaweed salad and left out the ginger with no notice. I didn't realize this until I was home and there is no way to notify the restaurant the order was wrong. I would suggest checking that your takeout order is correct before before heading out.

It smelled so awful and they could do better decor... the saki was gross like metallic taste and the miso soup was the worst I ever had.... didn't eat it and asked for a refund never got it.....I didn't get my refund on 8/28....

Yeah, this spot is so, so worth going too 👍🏼
I eat ALOT of sushi, and this is the best sushi I have had in this city and for the best price, still costly of course but you would still pay so much more for so much less anywhere else.
We walked in and we’re greeted by the crew. It smelt REALLY good like fresh food. I ordered my sushi with no cucumber because I’m picky hehe and was asked if there was anything I would like to replace it with. I asked if they had suggestions and they said they could do jicama and it was such a good call on their part! The sushi was so fresh and flavorful, I will be coming here often and if your looking for delicious fresh sushi you should definitely check em out 🙂

Super welcoming owners and staff and awesome sushi. Tried some of their experimental drinks samplings for a future menu, which is like every foodies dream, and will say definitely looking forward to seeing them on the menu.
I like the ordering style of the tablet to customize your order. The poke bowls are a good portion and reasonably priced. Definitely will be returning to get photos and try some more items on the menu.

Upon arriving the restaurant was hard to find but the yellow building gave it away! Big yellow smiley face you knew you were there. Very clean kitchen area everyone wears gloves excellent! They were about to close but were very pleasant, calm vibes and friendly. We ordered the 3 Specialty Roll Combo: a Tuna Serrano Roll, Yuzu Salmon Roll, and a Scallop Dyno Roll. The flavors of these rolls are amazing with every bite. Every roll is uniquely delicious. The Serrano roll is fresh with a kick of spice at the end, The Yuzu Salmon Roll is now my favorite with pickled jicama and fresh salmon the flavors of this one merry in your mouth so well. Last but not least the Scallop Dyno Roll was great as well reminded me of a California roll with a crispy topping. Would recommend 100% this is way better than Kabuki’s or any other sushi restaurant in AZ! Worth the price for fresh tuna and salmon that melts in your mouth goodness!

Best sushi in AZ. Hands down. As a Japanese who moved to Arizona, I was always on a journey for the best seafood to comfort me when I get homesick about the food I ate growing up. I ordered a platter on my birthday for me, my roommate, and my girlfriend and were all so impressed with the quality of the food and the chef’s professionalism behind the beautiful open kitchen. We actually visited it the day after again because it was so damn good! Would 100% recommend to anyone who likes sushi or even seafood!! Will be coming back for sure!

EDIT: i was refunded for my meal, which i appreciate. thank you.
food was hyped up to be so great when in reality it lacked dimension and was just way too salty for my family. the salmon we had in our sashimi platter was also extremely fishy and unpleasant to eat. the unagi don was okay and i liked the flavor, but once again was too much salt. i drank so much water that i didn’t even eat that much of the food. while the presentation was beautiful and the amount of food was appropriate, i felt that it wasn’t worth the price point listed. the poke was mediocre. the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was nice, but when you’re paying $150 for four things, you kind of expect something decently palatable and more dynamic.

I have raved about this place since it opened and generally still do like it. I usually order on the Revi app and food is always ready quickly. However, they used to use real crab in the Cali and other rolls and there used to be a scoop in the bowls as well. Now they're using imitation "crab stick" and my kids don't like it anymore. Kind of disappointing, especially since the prices are already high.

This place was a fantastic new find. It’s a tiny little spot in sunny slope next to a tattoo parlor. You walk in and there are only 4 tables total and 3 jacked dudes that work there that are friendly as ever! You order at a little stand at the front on a touchscreen and then it tells you how long it will be, and they bring it to you when it’s ready. There are no servers. Pro tip: It’s worth ordering and then going to the Vig or little OHSO for a drink while you wait.
The sushi was fantastic and super fresh. The prices are very reasonable and everyone that works there is so kind. We came with our baby and they insisted that we use two out of their four tables so that we could have more room for the baby even though we initially declined the offer. We will definitely be back and can’t wait to tell our friends about this little gem of a spot.

Big shout out to the people who work here. They’re so nice and accommodating. We were having a rough day getting our car towed and we put our order in for the following day by accident.
They ended up making our order for us even though they were about to close. This is, hands down, the best sushi in town. They source fresh fish and do an excellent job prepping and presenting. The staff (owner plus a few guys) are super friendly and make sure you have what you are looking for. Everything is made fresh right in front of you. Prices are fair for the quality of food. The tiny dining area is fun and cozy, but spartan. There is parking in the rear that gives ample space for parking. They also do a ton of pick up and catering if that's your preference. I highly recommend the chef's plate! It has loads of mouth watering nagiri and some nice rolls. The tuna and salmon are amazing.

Beautiful artistic and qualitative sushi. Walked in, ordered on screen, wait time only 5 minutes. While waiting in the car, my phone beeped alerting me food is ready, as I was getting out of the car, the owner/chef already headed in my direction coming outside to bring my order! Smallest Sushi portions ever. Expensive for what it is- overall. Place feels like a pop up shop at a hospital. Do not like ordering style. I also do not understand the lack of service, no water given. Just odd & $$$$ not worth the hype at all. We left after having a couple drinks & rolls. Still starving we went to eat somewhere else. My sister and I went there today right at opening, drawn in by all the reviews. No idea how they have so many high marks but prepare yourself for paying top dollar and a tip for bland, small rolls and zero service.
If you make your customer stand in line to order at a kiosk, like fast food, and have zero service, your prices should reflect that.
The estimate on the kiosk for two rolls was that it would be ready in 9 minutes. Over 30 minutes later we still hadn't gotten our order. Meanwhile there are 4 tiny metal tables with 2 metal stools at each to sit at and wait. There was self-serve water and plastic forks and chopsticks against the wall that we had to find for ourselves. And no napkins to be found. Instead they had a roll of paper towels! Seriously??
Then when the food did come out, it was served on flimsy plastic grocery store trays that grocery store sushi comes on. The rolls were thin and even though we each got a torched roll with our orders, we had to drown everything in soy sauce to have any flavor. I've had better looking and better tasting sushi out of a grocery store.
And even with lowering the tip manually to only only 15% (the kiosk defaults to 25%!!!) for them to actually not serve us in ANY way (you even get to buss your own table) the total for two rolls and no drink was nearly $40!!!
The three people behind the counter didn't engage in any way to help us figure out where to get what we needed and while they were working, they looked unhappy.
Do better or drop your prices to what's appropriate for what this is.
There are SO many sushi options in the Phoenix area that serve a better product and a better experience for the same money. We encourage you to spend your money there.

I chose this place due to the reviews. Instead of Sushi Friend it should be called Sushi Faux. We walked into the door and up to the kiosk to order our food. Not a friendly face from any of the staff. The prices are outrageous for the quality of the food, the atmosphere, and the chintzy presentation. When ordering from a kiosk they have the audacity to ask for a tip! You have to provide your phone number to get notified when your order is ready. The estimated time is a joke so if you dare take your chances eating here, be prepared to wait beyond the time they text you. The drink choices are dismal (one choice of beer, sake, tea, soda, and maybe something else) and they are in a tiny glass case. Everything in that place is small-scale. The rolls are the size of grocery store sushi and they are served on the same kind of tray-type container. The self-serve water glasses are tiny. There are no napkins, but you can tear off a paper towel by the self-serve station. Nope, I'm not kidding! The tables are approximately 24'' square and the stools are about the same in diameter. There is no way two people could each order combo plates, have drinks, and comfortably manage it on the small surface. Speaking of "tables", there are only 4, seating 2 peeps on hard, metal, backless stools, in the whole tiny place. I ordered one scallop roll a small salmon/avocado roll and a coke. My total with the suggested tip was $32. My sister's two rolls, tip, and self-serve water were $40. The bill is the only thing not tiny!
Let me spare you this experience. Find a better sushi joint. Spend your hard-earned dollars somewhere else with people who appreciate you, serve you better food, and treat you like you matter. You're welcome!

Good sushi and great vibes. Fish was fresh and expertly prepared. Then even fly in fresh fish by the day as I observed them butchering a fresh fish. 5 stars 🌟

The staff were very kind and engaging. Very small interior seating, but that adds to the nostalgia of a small, Japanese sushi ya. Good quality fish that tasted as fresh as Arizona can get.

I love Sushi Friend! I have gotten pick up from them many times and eaten in 2 times now. The sushi is incredible and I wish they had later hours so I could come for dinner after work! But I try and make it for lunch every few weeks if I can because it's so fantastic. Definitely try the seared salmon and scallop dyno rolls - they are incredible! The char on the eel is also just so perfect.

Just…wow! Everything about this place rocked! You don’t expect it from the outside but this is probably one of the best sushi spots we’ve been to. Rolls were delicious, creative and perfectly balanced. Fish was very high quality and fresh. Even the miso exceeded expectations. The owner, Kevin, and the guys were super welcoming and friendly, chatting with us and checking in on our meal. Kevin even made us a poke bowl so we could try his favorite. Excellent food, vibes, and people. I can see why they are so busy! Absolutely worth a trip!

We came here after hearing it was rated one of the best places in the county. The parking lot is a dirt space behind the building. It's super sketchy, and a lot of the homeless and others come out wandering at night. It's definitely more of a fast food type atmosphere. You order on an iPad and either eat it there or leave. The bar has enough for 4 seats. Then there are 4 tables with 2 seats. It's super tiny. The staff were very nice. But there were 3 of us and not enough room to sit and eat, so we left. I was very disappointed since we drove from the Westside to check this out. We would consider coming back, but only when it's dead as it's not a sit-down eat and order through a server type place.

So pleased with our experience here! We celebrated my husband's birthday and since he isn't eating sugar at the moment, the savory sushi cake seemed like the perfect idea for his birthday cake! We ordered online, picked it up and served it at home. Not only was the cake SO pretty, but it tasted phenomenal too! Thank you Sushi Friend for providing a fun and yummy birthday experience for our family!!

This place has such a cool vibe. I placed an order for pickup around 3pm. Even at that time the place was hopping. Great music playing in the background. Friendly staff that said hello as soon as I walked in. Easy online ordering and my order was ready on time. The sushi was delicious and fresh. I ordered the chirachi roll and the Sunnyslope roll. Loved them both and can't wait to go back to try other items. This place is a neighborhood gem!

Hole in wall sushi. Sushi was ok. Salmon was warm and not chilled. Its self serve. Very small place. No atmosphere at all. White walls, no decor except a smiley face on wall
If you want ok sushi....seemed pretty pricey for what you got. Sorry...I was disappointed.
