I heard about this place from a few buddies and decided to try it out, it was awesome. The spicy tuna roll was so good it had the perfect kick, and everything else I tried was just as good. Really good atmosphere in the place, best part was the service—our server Alexus was super friendly and on top of everything. If you go, definitely ask for her and leave a good tip, she deserves it!

We ordered ahead and when we arrived it was ready to go. Once they checked the name we took it home and feasted! The sushi was delicious and each roll was great. There were pot stickers as well and spicy edamame. Very happy with the food, the service and our visit

Took a few people to sushi Avenue for dinner on a Saturday night. The place was in a strip mall so little small. We had to wait about 30 minutes to get a table. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and patient as we looked over the large menu of sushi, nigiri, and sashimi options. The food was pretty good. The barbecue short ribs roll had a weird flavor with the fish and beef mix together. The potstickers were delicious. The eggrolls were so so. When I said, I was going to review the restaurant, they brought out the BBQ roll with little heart shaped design, which was a nice touch.

I definitely liked this sushi restaurant. I'll go back. It wasn't the cheapest sushi, but it was pretty tasty. 3 rolls, 3 nirgir, and one jalapeno poppers about $60. Nirgir fell apart, and the tempura rolls didn't have much tempura on it. Jalapeno poppers were very cream cheesy, so good!

Sushi isn't bad but is not great. Rice was really dense and overly sticky, taking away from the flavor of the sushi. Chicken upon was awful, soaked in oil. Oil was literally covering the bottom of the bow.

The sushi is absolutely amazing here! The service is absolutely the worst! They seem to turn their phones off whenever they don't feel like answering them. They are off multiple hours per day and when questioned about it they say "oh we're on a computer system that does that."
Okay, so nobody can figure out that something's not work right when the phones don't ring for 3 hours?? I'm not buying that. It's very very frustrating especially when they are what you're planning on having for dinner and when you do go there in person the wait is incredibley long to take food to go or get seated during any of the dinner or even lunch hours. It's shameful what they're doing to their very loyal loyal customers.

It pains me to have to write this review, but i have to be honest. We have been coming here for years and love the sushi. But the past visits this past year, we have had bad customer service by one specific waitress. She is moody, grumpy, not friendly (friendly only for tip time) and when handing the food (just puts it on the table and says nothing whereas other tables around us, she actually tells what sushi it is), it pretty much depends on her mood. Good and bad days. If you dont want to work, dont show it to your customers. We will take a break from sushi ave cause of her.

I've been coming here for 5 years. Jane and Lisa are amazing servers. They have all the charisma and professional attitude and are super charming. We love being regulars, and being treated kindly every time we step in.

Food is wonderful, and I love the atmosphere. I usually get the cali crunch and Philly roll, and I split some soju with my partner.

Love this place. Our favorite after work dinner place to unwind and relax.

We used to really like this place, but after the last two visits, we won't be back. Our server didn't return for 45 minutes, and we had to go retrieve our server. The yellowtail was discolored and mushy, and the tuna also did not appear fresh. Drive a little further to Sushi Rock and Grill.

I have come to this a few times before and have always enjoyed it, the chef is great.

The customer service however is AWFUL.
I brought my family in for a birthday dinner and the service we received was appalling. At first we tried to give our server the benefit of the doubt (i work in customer service, i know people have bad days) but jesus CHRIST.

This server was rude beyond belief, acted annoyed every question we asked, threw our carry out boxes on the table, rushed us to order, rolled her eyes. Didn’t even smile until it was time for her to ask for the tip.

I usually have pretty good patience but when I say this woman had me seeing red. She had ruined the evening for my family with her horrible attitude.

Interestingly enough I watched her tend to the other 2 parties with a smile. It was us she for whatever reasoned seemed to have a problem with. I do not like to through this accusation around but i sensed a bit of racism.

I am so embarrassed I brought my family here. I will not be coming here again, I would not recommend that any person of color come here, and someone needs to teach the staff some customer service skills.

Stumbled upon this sushi joint. Great menu. They have a great menu of sushi and tempura and other entrees.
The pork was a nice treat and who can say no to some pot stickers.
overall a good place to stop in and check out.
I greatly appreciated reasonable pricing. Not too high, not too cheap. You can tell they are trying to put a quality product on the tables.
Give it a shot and tell me if better than a 4.

To me the most important thing about any business is CUSTOMER SERVICE. No matter how good a restaurant is, if the customer is treated rudely- most will not return, I know I won’t. Even though the food was great, the way my family and I were treated by the staff was hurtful. Not one single staff member was attentive to our needs. The waitress with the blonde hair was the rudest waitress I ever came across and only one I ever encountered. She was very impatient, and visibly flustered whenever we requested sauces for the sushi. I noticed too she would just slam other customers’ bills on their tables without even saying “thank you”, or “please come again”. We waited and waited for our bill and after a while I went to the cash register to get my bill and pay. I waited 15 minutes for someone to acknowledge I was there! 3 staff members going and coming and not a single one of them at least said “we will be with you shortly”. The customers behind me waited as long to be seated and they too weren’t acknowledged or greeted, they ended up leaving. What kind of customer service is this?? They even have a visible sign at the register that reads: “we reserve the right to deny any patron service that is rude, aggressive, and hostile or drunk”, REALLY??? What about when your staff acts that way to your customers for no reason?? The pride of any business should be in their CUSTOMER SERVICE. Word of mouth spreads fast and I will never forget this horrible experience.

Came for lunch with my mom and daughter the other day! My four year old who doesn’t love sushi, devoured the orange chicken! And happy hour made everything fairly inexpensive! We got potstickes, edamame, sashimi and five rolls and tried the mochi! Loveeed all of it, the king kong roll was superb. The dynamite roll wasn’t my fave but why get cooked fish when there’s sushi available!?

After eating here last night, I will never return. The manager Jane came up to while I was breast feeding my little baby and said “please cover up while breast feeding, you freaked out one of my servers” I was shocked. For one, there is a Law in place that protects mothers who choose to nurse in public uncovered, so her saying that was in fact very wrong. Second of all, I was minding my business, a paying customer and to be told I cannot feed my baby in peace was insulting, rude and unkind. There is nothing wrong with women breastfeeding in public. My daughter also doesn’t like to be covered (as if that’s anyone’s business either) sushi Ave, do better. That was incredibly disappointing and very dehumanizing. P.s Jane thinks that’s inappropriate, but thinks it’s okay to be in your personal space, try to hug on and touch your babies, and even tried to feed my baby with a fork… lady, that is not your place and is very unprofessional… very strange and awkward too. Again, don’t ever think you have any right telling a mother who’s feeding her child to cover up. It’s against the law.

Every time I come in, I'm greeted right away by Jane, the manager. She always takes care of me, checking in multiple times throughout my meal. The vibe here is always great. It stays busy, so the wait times can run long. But it's totally worth the wait. The sushi is top notch, and so is the service. I can't recommend this place enough. 10/10!!!

The first time I went, I really enjoyed Sushi Ave. Going back, the sashimi was warm, which is unappetizing. The tuna on top of the spicy garlic roll was dry and not at all fresh tasting and the service was pretty bad. They never checked on us once. Went to meet daughters for a fun night out, and the server was less than courteous. When we asked for a small food accommodation for health reasons, she simply said no without an explanation. We asked for her to take a quick group photo, and she said "you have to wait". She never checked on us and took forever to bring the check, but ask us to leave to free up the table once the bill was paid. The baked scallop roll was disappointing, but the other rolls were pretty good as long as you're ok with a BIG SIDE of sour to go with your sushi.

I was excited to meet and catch up with family I hadn’t seen in a long time, and had heard wonderful things about their sushi! However, the experience turned sour and hostile very quickly. The waitress was rude, impatient with our questions, and inattentive. She refused to take a group photo for us and then quickly kicked us out of the restaurant immediately after we paid our bill to “free up the table”. Would not come again solely based on how unpleasant the experience was.

Just tried this place out for the first time. We went at 5 on a Saturday and it was lively, but there was no wait. They have a big menu with lots of fun rolls I can't wait to try. Prices are good. We ordered 4 sushi rolls and they came out really fast. The rolls were delicious and the two of us managed to eat all 4 rolls, but were pretty full. The servers were exceptionally nice, but it did take a little while for us to get the bill. Overall this is a great sushi place and it could easily be my new local favorite!

The food was quite decent but the service was so horrendous that I'd never recommend this place. Sue was the least hospitable person I think I've ever met. We had a larger group, 10 adults and some kids. So of course we had to pay the forces 18% gratuity which would have been fine except the service sucked. Sue was so rude and snappy to the kids, pushy and unaccommodating. Then when it was time for the check, she double charged two parties and under charged one and made it our problem. She had to fix the checks 4 times but not because of anything we did then got SO FRUSTRATED at us when again, it was no fault of ours. If you don't get Sue, it might be a great experience. I wouldn't know though.

I have been here several times. The food is great and the staff was excellent! Some of the best sushi I have had in the Phoenix area. The Las Vegas roll is by far my favorite. The Arizona roll my boyfriend had and said it’s the best sushi roll he has ever had (and we eat sushi regularly).

1st experience: Food was great, and company made it even better! I love sushi and these prices are the best! Especially for being as good as it is! I recommend the California roll or the tempura California roll if money is an issue but if money isn't then go for the eel or tuna or rainbow! Finish it off with a tempura cheesecake! SOOOOO GOOD!!! I'm sure everything else is fantastic, but that's what I've tried!

Latest experience: Usually, I’ve had a wonderful experience with Sushi Ave. in Gilbert, but unfortunately, this time was very unsatisfactory. We had a homecoming party for a family member we haven’t seen in a few years and most of us hadn’t eaten all day. The majority of our group had a big table and a few more of us ended up getting a small table next to them when we arrived about 45min. (Give or take) later. It was busy and most of the big table was done eating by the time I arrived. We quickly ordered food and then waiting quite some time for it to be brought. All 3 vegetarian rolls my mom ordered went to the big table and it took a while to figure out which ones were actually vegetarian, which wasn’t great for someone who has dietary restrictions. I ordered 2 California rolls and 1 tempura Cali roll knowing I was very hungry having gone with nothing until 5pm ish when we finally went to find food. 3 plain California rolls were brought to my table. Since my grandparents each ordered one of those at the big table, I guessed 2 were theirs and I ate the last. I waited…and waited, trying to check to make sure my order wasn’t taken to the big table. Finally, everyone was done and ready to leave, so we went to take care of the check. I never saw the other two rolls I ordered. We talked to them about it and they claimed they went to the big table, but I kept checking and never saw them, so I paid for them hoping someone in my family got to enjoy them, but again, the big table was mostly done eating by the time we got there and no one thought they got my order. I left the restaurant hungry since our server claimed it was brought and the receipt showed they charged us for it and I was too tired and hungry to argue. I found out later that my sister at the big table only ordered one roll that wasn’t brought out until everyone was almost done eating and even food was brought to the small table who ordered at least 45min later than the big. I understand that mistakes can be made when a restaurant is busy, but wish they would keep better track of what food goes to which table because that was a pain. Perhaps, I will just recommend going when they’re less busy and with a small group so you can keep track of what food is consumed and they won’t mix up tables. I left hangry and had to find something else to eat. Never again with a big group during a busy time. At least the few bites I had tasted good….

They are fast considering sometimes there is only 1 waitress waiting on the entire restaurant. The waiters are always running doing their best. They turn tables quickly. The sushi is mediocre, but the real reason I’m writing this review is because of deceptive practices. Their automated tipping calculator is way off. They have the lowest at a 20% tip, but when calculating it, I noticed that the tip they had labeled as 20%, was actually 25%! Always calculate the tip to make sure you’re not getting taken advantage of! I will not be returning.

This is by far my favorite sushi place. They have so many options plus the rolls themselves are HUGE!! The prices are pretty standard for sushi but with how filling each roll is, you definitely can eat here without breaking the bank!

Everything at Sushi Avenue is delicious, and I have tried a variety of their dishes from sides to dinner plates, sushi rolls and sashimi. Everything is always fresh and beautifully prepared, and the service is awesome! My favorite sushi place.

Some of the food was good some was below average. This place was a staple when it came to sushi but they have changed so I would recommend looking somewhere else. Service was very poor and it was not very busy. Our customer we go there is to pay for someone else’s without letting them know, and the waitress went and asked their permission, because she said she is weird about that. Disappointing, since it was supposed to be incognito. Sushi rock will be getting our business moving forward.

Took a few people to sushi Avenue for dinner on a Saturday night. The place was in a strip mall so little small. We had to wait about 30 minutes to get a table. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and patient as we looked over the large menu of sushi, nigiri, and sashimi options. The food was pretty good. The barbecue short ribs roll had a weird flavor with the fish and beef mix together. The potstickers were delicious. The eggrolls were so so. When I said, I was going to review the restaurant, they brought out the BBQ roll with little heart shaped design, which was a nice touch.

Ordered something that came with an ingredient not listed on the menu. When we asked for them to make the dish again without the ingredient the owner only offered to give us a side of edamame at no charge. On a $70 ticket they offered edamame instead of correcting it...

The sushi was good and the service wasn't bad. Took a while to get refills a couple times but they were also super busy so I can't hold that against them. The atmosphere was inviting and felt comfortable. Good sushi!

I did order orange chicken and i got chicken strips they just chopped it off and they put the sauce and pretend it was orange chicken the worst part was the flavor , really bad experience in top of that food was cold and I waited 35 minutes to get the food

Excellent sushi! We had the Philly roll, ultimate California roll and mango roll. The waitress was friendly and ready to fill water, etc. I gave service a 4 because they forgot to bring us our edamame salad and never recorded that we had ordered the mango roll. I would definitely go back.

If you haven’t been here yet I would go sit down and eat! They have a happy hour and we ordered a ton of food and spent barely anything! (No alcoholic drinks) Everything we ordered here we were impressed by! Will definitely be coming back for more.

This place is so poorly managed. They have good sushi, but the last four times I've ordered a pick up order it has taken a minimum of 60 minutes. On Friday, 3/31 it took 90 minutes. I called four times and each time they say they're 'working on it.' I finally called back the fourth time and they told me it was done a minute after my 3rd call. Like WTH! Either hire more people or just tell people your order is going to take TWO HOURS. It amazes me how businesses stay in business when they are so poorly run....

Went for very first time. NEVER again my kids couldn't finish food daughter said she was going to throw up from taste Appetizer brunt. Food was more then menu price..Never asked if we liked food or needed anything. Waste.of money and gas feeding my kids other soup later never again.gross

If there was such a thing as negative stars this would be the place to get them, based on customer service. The food was good, no complaints. If your restaurant closes at 9:30 pm then why in the world would your cut off time to order food at 9:00 pm. WHAT!! So you close at 9:00 pm, not 9:30 pm? My daughter wanted ramen but they were not cooking it because of the time. I wanted yaki soba but couldn't get any because I tried ordering it a few minutes after 9:00 pm (not your closing time). I ate the sushi rolls that were ordered but was still hungry because it was 4 rolls for 5 people. Obviously we should have ordered more. One of the ladies offered us to order another roll but then we noticed that all the sushi product was being put away, therefore we couldn't order anything else because at 9:18 pm everything was put away, probably because your actual closing time is 9:00 pm not 9:30!! Needless to say, I had to go to Macdonalds since I was still hungry. I drove from Avondale to come to your restaurant and believe me when I say this, I will never return. NO RESPONSE NEEDED!!

We stood by the front door for over 30 minutes waiting to be seated while also noticing FOUR empty tables. And once seated, had to wait another 15 minutes to order...had to grab a pitcher of water off another table to refill our own glasses as we were getting NO service, and then had to actually ASK for our check so we could pay and leave. We won't be back.

We ordered here for the first and last time tonight.
We ordered the spicy bulgogi, 2 orders of the teriyaki chicken with fried rice and 2 California rolls.
The bulgogi was the opposite of spicy, it was incredibly sweet.
The teriyaki chicken was not teriyaki but some weird bland sauce. The fried rice was bland and extremely oily.
The Cali rolls were just OK my son said.
The only decent thing I liked was the side salad that came with the teriyaki chicken.
So disappointed.

Great prices! We walked in to get the order to go. But when we saw the atmosphere it was so nice that we decided to stay. We are both seniors and picky about our restaurants.
Six rolls of California for under $5 is a great deal. I got the soy paper to replace the seaweed for an extra dollar. I love California rolls. I eat them all the time from various restaurants. The only complaint I have, is they put MAYONNAISE with the imitation crab meat. Otherwise I would recommended it.
I do recommend the chicken fried rice.
When we were there, service was great. When I called in over the phone to order to go, the woman had such a strong accent, I had a hard time understanding her, and I was not confident that she understood me. Otherwise I would have given service five stars

We ordered take out and it was 20 minutes late. On top of that the hostess said she double checked our entire order since it took too long and when we got home we were missing items. In addition their phones don't work every time you call. It's almost comical.

Literally the BEST sushi I’ve ever had! And that’s coming from someone that lived in SoCal for 50 years. I now live in UT and can’t find a decent place. When I visit my friend in AZ we go here daily because I have to get my fix. I highly recommend the Arizona Roll, but honestly all their sushi is fresh and delicious!

I don’t usually leave a review but in this case I just have to. I went there Tuesday a few weeks ago, the food was good but the service was horrible. There was a male waiter that was doing something on his laptop and we wanted to order more food and drinks but we didn’t get any service because of his laptop it was very awkward for us because we could not get his attention until he brought us the check and because of this service I don’t think me or my friends will be coming back.

This has become our favorite sushi place. They have all day happy hour now which helps lower the bill when we come in and want to order every roll on the menu. We love the Arizona roll, New York roll, and spicy tuna crab tempura rolls in particular.

The staff is friendly and professional and even when there is a wait they do a good job getting people in and out. We love this place!!!

Sushi has always been delicious, but I found the service to be declining. Last time I was there I was given the check after only being there 30 mins when I didn't ask for it, and was only asked what I wanted to drink and eat once.

Are you kidding me!!! One of the best places to go for sushi. Sooooo fresh and delicious. Gotta get the spicy garlic edamame to start. The shrimp lover roll is amazing and that lobster roll....watch out now! The prices are really good also so it won't break the bank. Guaranteed you'll keep coming back.

Me and the girlfriend love this place. Have been here multiple timesnow and enjoyed the food and service every time. Prices are fair with their all day happy hour and you won't be disappointed with the sushi. Inside is clean, relatively small, but has a nice feel. It's a fun place to go with some friends or for a more casual date night. We got the Rainbow, Red Boy, Salmon Tempura, and Double Spicy rolls and an order of the potstickers. All of them were very tasty but the double spicy rolls were next level good. Definitely will be returning here for more sushi soon. The staff is friendly and quick, plus the sushi is made right there behind a counter so it comes out quick and fresh.

I always order from this place. I just had a bad experience and will not be a returning customer. I called and placed my order and they took my number, name, and read back my order. Went to pick up and they claimed no order was taken. I confirmed the phone number I called as well to make sure it was the correct place. They confirmed I was at the correct place. I left and will not be ordering from this place again and I strongly do not recommend this place to others.

Sushi is good, however i spent close to $30 on 2 rolls and an entree of chicken teriyaki. At the bottom of the teriyaki container was, I kid you not, over an inch of oil/grease. It also had zero flavor and zero salt. So gross. Never order anything but sushi from this place!!!

I haven't found a good sushi place here in AZ. We usually do sushi in California. I must say this place didn't disappoint I placed a phone order my wife picked up the food. We actually got some rolls at the happy hour price, which I thought was great. Long story short I'm definitely going back for dine in soon and looking forward to taking advantage of the happy hour it was good. I found a sushi place in AZ no need to wait for our family trips to California to have good sushi

Came to Sushi Avenue and tried their sushi and the fried jalapeños. I was so impressed! Best quality sushi I have found in Arizona and it wasn’t overpriced. The Salmon Holic roll was my favorite, I will definitely be back for it!!

I have been going here for 10+ years and have always ordered the same rolls. I have previously given 5 star review of this place.
I ordered my usual and it was disgusting! It was completely soggy from way too much sauce. The usual tempura crust was just sprinkled on and not fried. Unfortunately it was a pick up order so I didn’t realize it until I was home. I called to let them know and they completely gas lit me saying they always made the roll like that. The manager hung up on me and when I called back she made me speak to the waitress. The waitress wanted the manager talk to me and I could hear the manager say no and laugh in the background.

I had to drive back to the restaurant and show them the super soggy rolls.
They were more apologetic in person but tried to blame it on the high volume of to go orders. Eventually they did refund the order.

I know I sound like a Karen but messing up an order is one thing but Gas lighting me and then having to drive to the restaurant to make it right was too much.

Great place. I don’t know much about sushi but I found this place delicious. A small and homely restaurant. The service is better than any place I’ve been to in the past month and employees are attentive and able to help without having to be asked.
