Karma Sushi Bar & Grill serves it up!
Fresh, beautiful, delicious. More than just exceptional sushi. Enjoy grills, ramen, and cocktails in the hip, casual setting of one of downtown Flagstaff’s best restaurants.
Every dish is hand-made in the moment by our masterful chefs. And, our grill menu will please even non-sushi fans. Stocked with all your favorite spirits, the bar is staffed by our knowledgeable and inventive mixologists.
Happy Hour is every day from 3-6pm.
The ramen was delicious. We ordered the Tonkotsu and the Mucho Midori both spicy and it was very good. It came out hot.
The rest of the food was a little cold like the fried rice, the teriyaki chicken with white rice. It did take 40 mins to get the food after ordering.

Really unique and interesting sushi menu with tons of options that sounded amazing. Also boasts an impressive sake and whisky collection and plenty of cocktails and beer options. Staff was cordial but not over the top friendly, they handled a busy crowd well though! The Instant Karma roll was easily the favorite thing we ate and the seaweed salad was the most interesting version I have ever had. Would definitely recommend this place for a date night or family outing!

This place was not traditional but it was fantastic! We loved the Three Amigos role and the Mucho Midori spicy ramen that incorporated green chili spice and Southwesterner flavors into our dishes. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the service was fast.

This place is a pretty good sushi restaurant for being 7,000 ft up! I felt like some of the rolls were too big though diameter wise. Personally, I don’t love having to take three bites out of one piece of the sushi roll. So if that’s something that you like, then you should order some of these bigger rolls. I do wish that the menu said which rolls were big. I had a mango sake drink, I don’t remember the name! It was Strong and it was good. The Gyoza was good and everything tasted great. We loved how unique the menu was to the area. I would definitely come here again, but they should consider playing some music. We were there on a Saturday night at like 7pm and it kind of felt dull in there. We waited for about 20 minutes for a table, it’s a small restaurant and it was also 7 PM on a Saturday so that’s not a big deal at all. Plus it’s downtown Flagstaff, so it was not too hard to go find something to do for a few minutes. Definitely a worthy contender when considering going out to eat for date night!

It’s been a while since my wife & I went out for sushi. We were in Flagstaff for the night so I searched Google maps for local restaurants & found Karma. This place was really close to us, had good reviews & prices looked fair so we went. They have 2 buildings, side by side to accommodate the all the patrons coming here for fresh sushi. We went with a total of 6 rolls, 2 regular & 4 of their signature rolls. All of the ones we chose were on point & the rice was cooked perfectly. My wife was happy with all of her choices but quickly realized she couldn’t eat as much as she thought, which left it up to me! Our server was really good, she had a lot of tables & a few larger parties which made it hard for her to keep up with everyone, I believe they were short staffed. She didn’t get anything wrong, was very nice & hustled hard. We did have a great experience & would recommend. My actual rating is 4.5 & only because of the staffing be short & limited servers. Overall it was a nice night & we would return if ever in Flagstaff again.

This is a BUSY sushi restaurant in downtown flagstaff. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality. The specialty rolls were amazing, and the fish was so fresh. Not the best sushi in the world but better than most sushi spots in the States. Slower service because they are in such high demand :)

What an amazing time we had at Karma sushi bar and grill! First of all, the sushi was top notch and was a high quality. The salmon was delicious and very fresh. The rice was perfect, not too sticky or too sweet. The ambience was amazing. All the little details they put to work to make the setting a wonderful place to eat. Service was super great! Always had full water and full attention of the staff. CHECK OUT this wonderful sushi bar soon!

I was torn between sushi and Thai for dinner… man did I chose wrong. Ordered 3 rolls and waited over 40 mins for them to come out! The guy next to us was sat after us and was done eating before we even got our rolls. When they finally did come the volcano tasted like it sat for a while. Additionally, every roll had literally NO flavor. The sauces were sparse and had nothing to them. I ordered the “wasabi roulette” and never found any wasabi. Then to add injury to poor food, when the bill came I had a $50 bottle of sake on there. This wouldn’t be an issue necessarily but the menu said $18, and the way it was explained to me didn’t lead me to believe that was $18 per glass, and not the whole bottle.

My family and I have been to Karma Sushi on multiple occasions and always been very impressed and satisfied. They have recently introduced a new menu. The previous menu had quite a few gluten-free options and this new menu doesn't seem to have nearly as many. In fact, one of the items is marked gluten free but was tempura fried which is not gluten free. Our server said that he could have that made gluten free anyways but when the roll came out it was still deep fried in tempura. That was order mistake #1 for our evening. We put in our order and our food started coming out. It did not come out all at one time which is to be expected with a place that has a sushi bar but my son and my husband were done eating before my daughter and I even got our sushi rolls. Mistake #2 for the evening happened when they brought us the completely wrong roll for my daughter and even though our server knew it was the wrong roll (even presented it as a spicy tuna roll when we ordered a tekka maki-thin role), he tried to play it off like it was the right one before I corrected him.
While our server was nice, he was not great as a server. He definitely struggled with getting our order correct, did not try terribly hard to make sure everything was made right, we were offered no compense for any of the mistakes and we had to ask three times for a to-go container. We finally asked the hostess because our server never got us one (we even watched him walk by the to to go containers several times). It took 15 minutes after asking for our check to actually get it.
We are a very low key group and tend to give lots of grace but in this situation I could not in good conscience, even leave our server a tip more than 17%.
Overall, the experience was underwhelming and frustrating. We may give Karma Sushi another try just because we previously have had good experiences but if this is any indication of what we can expect of their new space and menu, one shot is all we'll give.

Very odd experience. It seemed the entire staff were children, and the poor management of the dinner service felt like children running the restaurant not knowing what to do or how to do it. The hosts were a disaster. Weren't assigning tables, had no clue who was sitting next, holding bar spots for people who went to other bars and would "be back in a bit"..... which cost the restaurant alot of money running that way. Finally sat. The food was awful. No gingerbeer in the mule. But don't worry. ALL the ginger in the restaurant somehow ended up in my fried rice. It was inedible how it was prepared and seasoned. We sat and waited for the bill, not eating or drinking for 30 entire mins. Our server disappeared. I asked the host for assistance, but she walked away and did nothing. Had people standing outside in the 30 degree weather waiting for a table, could've turned us over 30 mins faster, but all employees were running around trying to appear professional instead of running the restaurant. No adult or manager in sight. Would have assumed it was just an off night if the food wasn't also disgusting.

The tempura was good, the nigiri was pitifully sized, and why I'm writing this review is for the "Tonkotsu Ramen". The broth was near flavorless, no outstanding profile and I could mostly just taste black pepper. The pork was subpar, hard to eat, over cooked. The "boiled eggs" are terrible. A decent ramen shop would have either marinated or jammy eggs. The noodles had no substance or strength to them, over boiled and flavorless.
The staff were incredibly helpful, they deserved their tips but the food was not anything to write home about. The atmosphere of the mostly brick room also felt like a cafeteria, has no style and the room was lacking in design.

Decor and Atmosphere of the restaurant is very good! Services is good too. However, the ramen and the fried rice is a disaster. Ramen was soggy, flavour was poor. Chicken Fried rice had no flavour and the chicken is bland. The only upside is probably the edamame in the fried rice. Didn’t get sushi so can’t comment on that. If you’re Asian visiting flagstaff and want some tidy jap food, I would give it a pass!!

This is my first time writing a review because I have to tell you our food server never showed me an itemized bill…he literally came over with the mobile debit card reader and told me to pay this amount. He was in the weeds and wanted to turn over the table. Food was great but the server is in the wrong business.

TLDR: Fusion sushi and ramen. Great environment. Give it a try!

Came from out of town, and googled some food. We chose this place and it did not disappoint. We ordered the Vegas Roll, Wavy gravy Ramen, some other ramen dish, I can’t remember the name but had chicken and soy as the broth. Then ordered a pretty drink!!! Our server was on point, and very friendly as well.

We came here for our anniversary wanting an authentic ramen bowl just like from when we visited Japan last year and it did not disappoint. And the sushi roll we split was wonderful as well. The sushi was amazing! Best in town for sure. I did have a couple issues though. The wait was well over an hour but they told me 25 minutes on the phone which was a bit irritating. Also, be prepared for a 32% additional charge for tax and tip. I am used to paying tax and I am also used to tipping. What I am not used to is a mandatory 32% charge. The receipt noted a 10% tip and a 12% tax. Not sure where the other 10% came from. The charge was $3 more than on the receipt so maybe a little bit of that is card transaction fee, but what about the other $4-5? I prefer to have the option to tip and how much. Regardless, I might be back. Solid food.

Calling the phone number and leaving a voicemail resulted to no response. The food comes out quickly. The vibes are great! The first time our server was very attentive and went above and beyond my expectations. Our visit yesterday the server seemed overwhelmed and was visibly tired of our table by the end. Also my party was under the impression that there was a happy hour but we were charged full price. Over all we've had a good experience every time.

We tried a variety of foods, a Pork Tonkatsu bowl made spicy, the flavour was good, a bit oily but the pork was over cooked.
My buddy had a miso based broth and just tasted of soy sauce!!! We were all so hungry after visiting the Grand Canyon we just ate the food. When the waiter came by we gave them the food back to which the waiter said “it went down well though” as to challenge the salty remark. That’s the customer service you’ll receive.
The chicken fried rice…… just tasted of burnt garlic. Finally the chicken teriyaki tasted of teriyaki sauce from a jar/bottle.
The food here is not special at all and I really do not know how all these reviews give it 5 stars!!! My friends and I are proper foodies and we know when food is good and sadly this place is not it! We will NOT be back.

The food is great. The costumer service is NOT! Sometimes they just won’t answer the phone. Other times I’ve called and they said “nope. We are too busy for take out orders right now. Call back in 2 hours” suuuper unpredictable. We have so many amazing restaurants in Flagstaff, I wish we had some other sushi options… karma has zero competition and really doesn’t care about making you happy as a costumer.

Atmosphere is honestly the best part about karma. Their food is sometimes really good and other times really bad. Though who wouldn't expect that. On my first trip there, both me and my wife got ramen and shared a sushi roll. I believe that at that time I enjoyed it, but on the next occasion when we came, my wife got a beef dish, and oh my god was it bad. She ultimately ordered a different dish and although it was better, her experience that night was overall disappointing. Their customer service is good, but wait time between dishes is a little poor. I full heartily believe lunchtime deals are a good idea, but no food should be restricted by the time of day unless it is breakfast.

Nice looking place and our server was good! Sushi was so bland and the rolls consisted of 90% rice and the rest of that 10% in fish and veggies. Edamame was cold.
One thing that I felt was odd, is that the bar was empty, so we asked to be seated at the bar. The host mumbled something and instead sat us at the back sushi bar - felt like another reviewer said - awkward and like second class citizens? I don’t know - that was very weird.
Update - got food poisoning:(

Not a traditional sushi place. Nigiri combo was topped scallions and French's fried onions (opposed to rolls traditionally un-topped or topped with masago/tempura). The tuna nigiri was cooked?! I understand some people like seared ahi but it's surprising to cook the fish when I specifically order nigiri. No Wasabi/ginger or wasabi paste on plate and they wanted to upcharge for it.
Place was busy, but I had time to play 2 games of chess before bartender said hello. The cocktails are decent and the atmosphere is excellent. Curb appeal drew me in, but everything else was disappointing.

Busy, Great Drinks, Food, and Service. Thank you!

Good food, terrible service, they wrote down our order wrong, which made the wait longer, our food was delivered to us in 1 hour. The worst part was the zero empathy on the part of his collaborators. Very expensive for such a bad experience.

Amazing food. Had the pork ramen and red dragon roll. Extremely busy, but service was still great.

From Vancouver. This got to be the worst, stale sushi I’ve ever had in my life.
The sashimi didn’t taste marinated, in fact it didn’t taste like anything. Rice wasn’t even sushi rice.. regular rice that still felt hard as if it wasn’t fully cooked.
Waiters did not check on us, didn’t offer refills or anything. My boyfriend’s ramen was warm when served and was bland. The spicy tuna roll wasn’t even spicy… didn’t have the spicy mayo sauce and once again stale.
Essentially what was supposed to be a nice romantic dinner with my boyfriend, turned into us wasting money on disappointing food.
I really don’t know how this place has 4.4 stars with such below mediocre food and service.

I’m not local to the area, but a trusty family member whose judgement I trust guided lunch to this location. Karma is located in Flagstaff’s little cluster of joints but is by no means secluded. Seating for seven people is obviously a larger party than average, but the waiters were so kind and accommodating! Once we were seated, the first thing to catch everyone’s eyes was the combo: a ramen and a given dish for $20, every day from 11-3pm. Our orders were taken care of in a timely, amiable manner—the service was definitely super sweet, but that’s something I’ve noticed throughout Arizona restaurants anyways, especially among younger staff. Food came out and everything was as expected. The ramen had a good hearty broth with a good cacophony of toppings: naruto, chashu, mushrooms—the whole, typical, works. The noodles were a bit over cooked, but the restaurant was pretty flooded. The karaage was good—it was flat breaded and served with spicy mayo. The fish—sushi, sashimi, and nigiri were ordered—were not extremely fresh, but they were obviously well prepared. The fried rice was pretty decent too, about the quality I’d expect from a tiny, family owned, Chinatown located restaurant. Ginger and wasabi are served upon request and were both of good quality. All of the food was a bit salty, but we also come from a distinctly Asian household. Again, the staff was incredibly sweet! And the ambiance was really cool and chill :) Would come here again for sure!

I should’ve listened to other reviews. The place was loud and way too many tables. The gyoza tasted like the frozen kind I get at Costco. Sushi rice was hard and dry. Do not recommend.

Walked in with a party of 4, a few visible open tables, waited a minute to be greeted. That’s all well and good, the hostess set a table for us and we were seated. Then we waited 5 minutes just for someone to drop off waters to us. He said the server would be right with us. Perfect. We sat and watched tables be greeted that were sat after us. All we wanted was a drink and then to be on our way. The only reason I gave this two stars was because I know a few people that work there (they unfortunately happened to not be working when we went in). So when no one approched us 10 minutes later, we decided to leave. A very disappointing experience. I’ve seen this restaurant be absolutely and utterly packed and have had infinitely better service.

Very disappointed with the food. We started with steamed shrimp dumplings but they came out cold. Had to send them back. Then we ordered speciality sushi rolls. They had no flavor, they were not rolled properly and they kept breaking apart. They used a thick layer of rice and made the rolls too big. We couldn’t enjoy the food because we were trying hard to keep the roll intact but it kept breaking. Overall terrible experience

Look, I really enjoy rolls and sushi, but I am a firm believer that if a restaurant offers a burger and said burger is not the theme of the restaurant, GET IT! Mexican restaurants have the best burgers and I don't know why, but they just do them right.
Karma used to have some of the best burgers and I mean the absolute best. I understand some haters will reply with "why are you getting a burger at a sushi place?". Well, because they were phenomenal! The server told me that I couldn't get the burger cooked medium because it would hold up the line......ummm, I'm pretty darn sure a medium burger takes less time than a well done/burnt leather boot takes to cook. The server/bar tender was honestly just dismissive and most likely having a bad night, but making excuses is beneath anyone who is a representative of their workplace. I say take the burger off the menu if you don't want to serve it anymore instead of offering garbage. Once again, I get rolls, sides, and other theme menu items there, but just take the burger off the menu now that you've ruined it.

We come here every time we’re in town and this was no exception. We had a nice lunch here today, we sat at the sushi bar which sports very comfortable seats! The atmosphere is great, service is very good, not too noisy and it had nice lighting. The restrooms are very clean. We had the tuna kaiso appetizer and a volcano roll, sweet shrimp, salmon sushi, yellowtail sushi and a bowl of miso soup. The stars were the soup and the tuna kaiso, the miso broth had such incredible depth, I could tell by looking at it how delicious it was! Sadly the raw fish which is normally my favorite wasn’t quite up to par, it was still very cold when we ate it, even after we let it sit for about 30 minutes. Raw fish is best enjoyed at room temperature, it gets a little “sweaty” as it comes up to temperature. The rice was a bit hard and sour. Overall I highly recommend this sushi, they just weren’t up to their usual high bar this time.

Walked in & seated only 2 other tables occupied, waitress was slow. Others seated after use were served & got their drinks & food quickly. We were served someone else's order which they took back. Brought wrong drinks also, then 35 minutes later we finally got disgusted and paid our bill for our drinks & left. Never got our food.

This was our first time trying Karma and we would definitely return. There was a short wait but we just walked around and visited the shops in the area while we waited. Once we were seated we were brought water right away and ordered once we decided. We tried the yonkotsu style ramen, the wavy gravy ramen and the beef yakisoba. All three were very good with fresh, tasty ingredients. We were tempted to order sushi but we are glad we didn’t since the portions of what we did order was more than enough. We will have to come back to give the sushi a try!

Sushi was good, tasty, and flavorful. Coming from the bay area, this was a nice surprise as I felt as though I was already back home.
We had came into town on a drive and this place had hit the spot for what we wanted. Given the opportunity, I would come again for the food but also the nice service as the service as our server was considerate enough to offer water and a place to seat ourselves out of the heat.
