Sushi Restaurant
This was my first time at hi 5 and it was amazing. The food was delicious and the service was great from Tommy and Nick. It has a great vibe inside with good music and the pricing is perfect. The presentation of the food was also really cool but we were too hungry to get a photo first. Overall recommend trying it out.

Hi-5 has excellent Japanese food. Their ramen has an excellent and flavorful broth and is highly recommended. Their sushi rolls are made with high quality ingredients and are very fresh. Get the fresh wasabi for an extra $2, it compliments the rolls really well. I also like the jalapeño boat that has baked salmon inside. The glazed pork belly is also really tasty. I come here often and the service is always great.

Boy oh boy! This place has AMAZING food. My husband and I were loyal to another sushi place but for some reason their quality went downhill, so we decided to try Hi 5 Sushi, we are so glad that we did. It was a perfect little date night place.
We started with the mango soju...yum! It was smooth, had lots of mango flavor and was delicious! Will order again.
Our first plates were the Garlic Butter Fried Rice and the Spicy Dumpling Soup. The rice was full of garlic flavor and the rice texture was "al dente". The soup had a spicy vinegary/sour flavor profile that I loved.
The next plates were the Las Vegas Roll and Tuna Hamachi (FYI: online menu calls it one thing and in restaurant menu calls it something else). My husband said the Vegas roll was really good, it was crispy. The Hamachi was sooo good, the ponzu went well with the tuna. It wasn't spicy at all, I think it could have been better had the jalapeños been spicy but still really really good, I just like spicy food.
Forgot a picture of the Beef Brisket, my husband just closed his eyes and slowly chewed away. He said he will order the 5 piece next time, it was BOMB!
Last but not least, dessert, Funky Monkey. We inhaled the dessert...it was that good.
Needless to say, we're going back :-)
PS: our server was great

High quality, fresh sushi, BUT they won't offer soy paper for their rolls ☹️.
Too bad because their rolls look interesting. That said, I detest seaweed and always get my rolls with soy paper at every other sushi joint on the planet.
I got the jalapeño hamachi, which was beautiful in presentation and tasty. I also got two orders of nigiri (see pics) that were generous in size and fresh.

Yes all the reviews are correct....amazing sushi in Chandler. 1st time in, I was so hungry I forgot to take pictures of the rolls. Alissa brought me a yellowtail nightmare roll that I may not of ordered without her....so glad she did...very flavorful! Very friendly service and excellent quality sushi, she did a great job even though they were very busy. Tried the standard rainbow, also delicious. Finished with spicy scallop nigiri. This is my new sushi restaurant in town. 2nd time in, craving the yellowtail nightmare, got pictures this time. They were not busy at noon on friday, Alissa served drinks, soup and 1st roll within 7 minutes. Nightmare 5 minutes later. I read some people were unhappy with service when they are busy. 1st of all, its totally worth the wait. 2nd they have a qr code, feel free to place your order for faster service when busy. 3rd....oh my goodness everything is so fresh and delicious. I got through half the yellowtail nightmare before I remembered to take a picture. My compliments to Chef Tommy! Great job everyon8e!
Update, everything is still fresh and delicious. Linh took great care of me this time. They offer small beers now, I suggested it last time in and they accommodated me.
Finally brought my wife in, she enjoyed her Sushi on Fire. I went with the usual. Tommy always serves it up fresh, Nick took good care of us. I really like this local sushi restaurant, great energy and really great sushi!

This is definitely a hidden gem!
I usually don't like rolls, but their rolls were amazing! Highly recommend high 5 rolls and yellowtail nightmare rolls. Also, they have O-Toro sashimi which is topped with sesame oil and fresh wasabi sauce, which is just amazing.
"Fresh catch of the day" was a bit disappointing for its small portion size, but it would be a good dish to try if it's your first time here.
I will definitely return for more sushi!

I had been wanting to try this place for awhile now because I love sushi and they had really good reviews.
I went t during lunch time and ordered their High 5 Premium Lunch, which consisted of 11 pieces of nigiri and a 5 piece roll. I had to ask the server what kind of roll it was and she stated spicy tuna. It didn’t have the vibrant red color I expected but yep did taste like spicy tuna. The nigiri pieces were very generous. I especially enjoyed the scallop nigiri. I would go back just for that.
The server was very courteous and provided excellent customer service. She even gave complimentary miso soup to everyone in the restaurant which was unexpected and appreciated. For what they charge, I do think they should automatically include miso soup as part of their lunch and dinner specials.
It’s a clean restaurant with a nice casual vibe.

I’ll preface by admitting I’m a pretty picky sushi eater and lived in places with amazing sushi. Having had a hard time finding good quality sushi in the east valley, I’m very happy to have stumbled across this place a couple years ago. I’ve come to regard this as my favorite sushi spot in the area.
The biggest selling point about this place to me, is that their prices are very reasonable for the high quality fish they serve. It’s unusual to find a place with high quality that isn’t price gauging.
I usually get their nigiri or sashimi. The salmon, albacore, and yellowtail are my go to’s, and their bluefin tuna is excellent. I also like their salmon roe.
If you like rolls, I highly recommend the Santos Roll - it may just be one of my favorite specialty rolls in the valley.
The place is not big but is nicely decorated and doesn’t feel crammed despite its size.
The service I’ve had has always been great - the servers are friendly and they are great at making recommendations if you ask. I highly recommend this place.

We have a new favorite sushi joint!
Our previous favorite place changed a few of their sushi 'recipes', made the portions smaller, and began charging more. If everything tasted amazing we could let it pass, but didn't. So, my wife and I have been looking for another local sushi place.
We found it at Hi5 Sushi.
Yes, our sushi was wonderful. We will be back just for the sushi, but we found a few menu items that we will be back for as well - the spicy dumpling soup, the garlic butter fried rice (with beef), and the funky monkey dessert.
Service was friendly. Atmosphere was bright and open. Food was absolutely what we were looking for!
Will be back. Highly recommend.

The portions are fantastic. ...and if you are looking for interesting rolls and not the same ol' stuff everybody else has, well then, this is it.
It's in an unassuming parking lot strip building. From the street, you'd never know their food is the bomb. Buuuuut, it is.

From all the sushi places I’ve been, this is the ONLY one that has fresh wasabi, like actually fresh, not that super green stuff.
Also, their sushi was divine, we got the Las Vegas and the Popping Roll. Both were amazingly fresh and we highly recommend them.

We were really excited to try this place because of all of the great reviews. We didn’t think it was that fresh of sashimi or sushi. Definitely doesn’t make our top local sushi places. I didnt like that the menus were falling apart and that they only had a few of the sushi rolls listed. The rest of the rolls were just listed on the wall so you weren’t able to see all the ingredients of them, without having to ask the waiter.

We were skeptical to found a Japanese restaurant where is quite far away from our home. At first, I didn't expect too much quality of the food, but to my surprise, the sashimi deluxe plate was very fresh, and the yakisoba and the Japanese seaweed salad were also delicious, that's definitely worth coming back to try more dishes.

Hi 5 is a bit of a hidden gem in Chandler. This was the best sushi I've had in Arizona, possibly the best I've had anywhere. We went for dinner and had a couple of kinds of sashimi, tuna carpaccio, and about six different sushi rolls. Every item was prepared and presented beautifully. While everything was delicious, the tuna carpaccio, bluefin O Toro, and the Mobster Lobster rolls were out of this world. Prices were reasonable, all of the fish tasted incredibly fresh, and the service was exceptional. After our dinner, we met Tommy, the owner, who was very warm and just a super nice guy.

I don't understand the reviews, we went there because of the high stars and were disappointed by the food. I got the rollercoaster roll and it was loaded with too much imitation crab and spicy tuna. My cousin got a crab roll and had the physical legs sticking out. Wish the best of luck, but not for me...

This place was recommended by Go Gilbert. The server was very nice and attentive. Small, clean, and simple atmosphere. We ordered the miso glazed pork belly, gyoza, cucumber fiesta roll, and two piece blue fin tuna nigiri. The sushi was so fresh and scrumptious tasting. No complaints at all about this place. This is our new go to place now for sushi. Definitely worth trying this place you will not be disappointed

Out of at least 12 sushi restaurants we've been to, this was one of our favorites. We drive all the way from Casa Grande every 2 weeks. We have brought other people here and have spoke to the owner happily a few times. However, the last time we came and it was busy but not full, we were seated and waited and waited and waited. Literally, after 15 minutes without exaggeration, an not even water, we flagged down the server who told us she would be right with us. We even flagged down the owners daughter who wasn't serving customers and she told us she would get someone to serve us instead of her just taking our order. We aren't expecting special treatment but after an additional 7 minutes which I timed for a total of 22 minutes. We walked out and probably won't go back. So unfortunate for such a promising place. I even called the next day to talk to the owner and was told he would call me back. Never heard back.

I visited High 5 Sushi about a year ago because of the great reviews, especially one from someone who didn't even eat there, but noticed how happy everyone was from the parking lot. The reviews were no lie. The vibe is so good that each server I've known since then is happy and great to get to know (shout out to my newest friend Brooke). The food is insane. I've eaten at countless sushi restaurants around the country for the last 40 years (my favorite food) and I can promise that any Sushi lover will be glad they stopped in (be ready to crown this one your favorite). There are around 10-15 tables and there's always been one available when I walk in. I honestly can't explain that. The Tuna Tartare is a must if you like spicy tuna. They make delicious creative specialty rolls. The lunch specials (Delight, Special & Premium) are my new favorite thing to order (after my Tartare appetizer) and the "High 5 Special" is my go-to. You get a spicy tuna roll and 9 pieces of Nigiri although the menu says you'll get 7. I'll add pics of both.

I wonder what the customers who gave five-star reviews said? Is this your first time eating Japanese food or have you eaten it several times? I came here to eat because I read five-star reviews. Unexpectedly, we were very disappointed. Five people ate raw food and only one person was given a serving of wasabi. There was no cold dish in it. A bottle of beer was $9 and a bowl of soy sauce noodles There is nothing else in it for $10, just soy sauce and noodles. At Mido Sushi, a bowl of noodles is $9.9, with a shrimp and tofu in it, and a bottle of the same beer is $6. This is the difference. We go back every Sunday for Japanese food and this is the stingiest restaurant we've ever had.

It pains me to write this review as I was hoping to find a new sushi restaurant.
When will I learn ...if a Yelp friend gives an unfavorable review listen up! Well I wrote it off as it's a year old review and they've been around for a year so it's l likely to be better. Nope!!!
Arrived and stood as instructed waiting to be seated for almost 5 minutes. No problem we're not in a hurry.
Once seated another 5 minutes for the waitress to ask if we wanted anything to drink. It's 115+ degrees outside so we asked for water. Several minutes our water came. Another 5-7 minutes went by she took our order. Ok this is where it starts to really go down hill.
My husband ordered the 1 saki entree for $19.00. He said it was ok but inconsistent.
I ordered the 4 tempura, seasonal vegetables with rice and my choice of soup or salad. I asked what kind of salad, hoping for seaweed and was told that salad is not an option. Hmmm ok I'll have the soup. Was then told that doesn't come with the meal. I just look at her dumbfounded and point to the menu to show her. She said she'd be happy to bring me a miso soup.
8-10 minutes go by and the waitress brings my husbands food out. Two minutes later mine comes out. No soup and no rice. Before I can mention anything she's out of sight. When she does come back I mention the rice and was told that's not part of the meal. But she'll bring me some. By then I was done with what I was going to eat and told her to skip it. She said she'd be back with more water.
So for $10.50 I got four shrimp and 4 pieces of fried vegetables that I didn't eat. Ha if only ...the bill came, no water and husband paid. I'm looking over the receipt and my order rang up for $12.00. At that point it dropped another star as it was already paid and we have now been there for close to 1.5 hours. Keep in mind this is a very small place with two wait staff and wasn't packed.
Chalked it up as a learning experience.
2 stars as the atmosphere was clean. We didn't feel like anyone was mean or rude. Just inattentive and too many issues that couldn't be overlooked.
My advice....update your menu. You just lost 2 customers who eat sushi regularly.
Sadly, we won't be back.

I had an absolutely delightful experience at Hi-5 Sushi, thanks to the incredible owner and sushi chef, Tommy! As soon as I entered the restaurant, I was greeted by the inviting ambiance, with beautiful decor and captivating artwork.
After looking at the menu, I couldn't decide on a roll, but Tommy came to the rescue! He attentively listened to my preferences and crafted an off-menu roll that was honestly the best sushi roll I have ever had, and I love my sushi! This roll was so delicious that I wanted to make sure I was able to order it the next time I came back. Tommy wrote the roll down so he remembers what is in it and named it “The Connor Roll”. If anybody wants to try it I’m sure you can order it as well and I promise you will not be disappointed.
Brooke, our server, was exceptionally friendly and attentive throughout our dining experience. She made sure we had everything we needed and actually gave us the idea of talking with Tommy to help create an off-menu roll.
The sushi at Hi-5 Sushi was simply unparalleled; each bite burst with freshness and expertly combined flavors. Tommy's expertise and passion for his craft shone through every piece of sushi he served. Tommy told us his story and you could tell he truly loves what he does and wants everyone to have the best experience possible.
If you're searching for an exceptional sushi spot, look no further than Hi-5 Sushi. With Tommy's personalized rolls and Brooke's top-notch service, you're guaranteed an unforgettable dining experience. I can't wait to return and have the "Connor Roll" once more!

Service was great but the rolls were just okay. Nothing crazy or worth writing home about. They were rolled very well and fell apart rather easily. Tasted like normal rolls, it wasn't horrible but it also wasn't amazing, just average to be honest.

4.5 stars. Fish tasted great. We had the Hi 5 special for $18 (pictured) and the Sahara Rainbow roll. All were superior, but not the best ever. Place to ourselves at 12 on a Tuesday. Don’t care much for the music and the decor is just ‘nice’. Definitely one of the better sushi places around, miles better than your normal 3-star sushi.

Fair price, fish quality is decent. Have to say that the salon roe is soooo salty! Will return.

One the most fresh, best sushi in town. Hands down. Its in our top 3.
Crispy spicy tuna was amazing as well as the garlic parmesan edamame.

The fish is delicious! Really high quality. We really loved the sashimi salad, great portion and flavors on the sauce. The staff is so so nice! I am always a heavy supporter of small businesses and they really do everything they can to attend to your every needs. We have been twice in a week. Thank you for the great experience.

I’m from Hawaii and my husband and I were craving some good sushi and found this to be one of the highest reviews in AZ so we decided to take a chance, and I’m so glad we did! I had the Dragon Roll, Miso Soup, and Fried Oreos with ice cream and it was AMAZING!!! Eloy was our server and he was very friendly, attentive, and answered all of our questions. The Chef was also very kind and skillful in his sushi art. I highly recommend Hi5 Sushi to everyone who loves Sushi and those whose adventurous enough to try it if you haven’t yet, you won’t regret it!!!

Im from Hawaii and have been eating Japanese food for most of my life, if you are looking for an EXCELLENT sushi spot, THIS IS THE PLACE!!!! this spot rivals Shokudo in Waikiki and Kozoku out in Kapolei. for all the Hawaii people wanting a place to eat when you visit Arizona come try this place, the food is Ono. and to anyone that is from Arizona and want to try exposing yourself to Japanese food, this is a great place to start. The Hospitality is amazing, Eloy was our server, he’s super cool. You can tell the chef is a true ITAMAE (sushi chef that took years of apprenticeship under a Master). I will always make this my spot to eat sushi in Arizona. 🤙

Service is amazing staff are very welcoming and attentive. Tommy the sushi chef is awesome! Always willing to accommodate and make special rolls! If there were more stars I’d give them all!!

I had a friend bring me for the first time about a year ago. The chef Tommy Is a genius. The sushi is hands down best in AZ and the portions of fish are unmatched anywhere as well. My wife doesn't eat fish but loves the fried rice and Ramen is all 10/10. I take all my potential clients and referrals there now as well.

My husband have been to High 5, 4 or 5 times. We come here every time we have a date night. We have no trouble getting a table. Ben, is so awesome. He always takes good care of us. The owner Tommy. He is so kind, he sent over some uni for us to try. He even made my husband a custom roll. We always have a great experience, we enjoy the food, the quality of the food. Everyone at high 5 is amazing! We will definitely keep going back.
Update,
My husband and I go to high 5 for every date night and we haven’t stopped. We get the most amazing service. We get the freshest fish. We absolutely love high 5 and we will continue to keep going back!

Had this place for my first time 2 weeks ago….
This is a 5 star place all day and night and if there was an 8th day of the week, it would be Hi-5.
Tons of Rolls and Specials that rotate weekly. Amazing service and presentation, quality is some of the best! Small interior and I suspect it’s not packed because not a lot of people know about this place, Shouldn’t be long!
Was so good that I went again last weekend and I’ll probably go again this weekend.
Do yourself a favor and put hi-5 on your next dinning experience.
I love sushi and I’m fat, trust me on this one!!

I can not explain how excited I am to finally have an incredible sushi place in Chandler! The fish is so fresh and melts in your mouth, my mouth is still watering. The restaurant is clean and atmosphere is fun. We love Tommy and all his staff who were so quick to recommend incredible rolls, always topping off our drinks, and incredibly friendly. We ordered the VIP, Salmon Bomber, GG Jalapeño Yellowtail, and the yellowtail wrapped in grapefruit! Unreal!!! So many flavors and incredible prices! We will definitely go back…tomorrow.

Called ahead 30 min to have order made. Arrived and was told 20 more minutes for the food to be ready.....should have just left. Next time announce the wait time BEFORE somebody places an order or inquires about food.
Got food 45 minutes later from initial phone call.
Food was average at best. Portions were on the small side. $35 for two rolls. Surf and turf and yellow tail nightmare. Came here due to ratings. Disappointed.

I have been looking for a good sushi place in the Phoenix area since we moved here 6 years ago.
I have finally found that coastal city caliber sushi. This is by far the best sushi I've ever had that wasn't in California or New York.
I didn't take pictures of my HI 5 special but I assure you the nigiri was some of the freshest I've ever had. Presentation was excellent and service was perfect.

It was great here! Food was delicious and we had the most amazing service Saturday night 11/26. I didn’t catch the servers name, but he had curly hair and glasses. We had a large party with a lot of customizations and he handled it like a CHAMP!! He was so incredibly nice, helpful, and friendly. 10/10 recommend Hi 5 Sushi just for his service alone!

Wow! What high-quality fish and food!
I was feeling a bit adventurous, so instead of visiting the same sushi place near chandler, I searched sushi on Google Maps. There were a couple of places, and based on the good reviews, I drove to Hi5 Sushi.
My first impression of the place was not very impressive. It's clean, but other than that, the menu seems outdated (it is hard to explain. It is simple yet hard to read), and the ordering process was a bit off. So I felt like it was another dud, and I was going to mark this one like any other mediocre sushi joint in AZ (there are hundreds of them).
I am a Sashimi/Nigiri person and not much of a roll person; therefore, all my sushi orders were nigiri except for one tuna roll and some role that came with my Omakase order. I also had a Ramen and it was also pretty good.
Let me fast forward to receiving my first order. The presentation of the sushi is very good but oh man. When I took my first bite, all my perception of this place has changed 180 degrees. I am unsure how often I turned around to look at the Chef as I was blown away by the quality of the food.
I'll share a couple of areas of improvement—first, the rice. It was off. I was so impressed with the fish's quality and taste that I didn't examine what was going on with the rice, but the texture was a bit off (I felt like the rice was not cooked thoroughly). The place was also a bit slow, and I am sure this will improve as they build momentum, so if you are expecting to be going in and out, you might want to add a few extra mins.
Obviously, the couple of things I mentioned above didn't make that much of a difference, as my overall experience was very positive. Long story short, this is a hidden sushi GEM in Chandler and in AZ. I am going to be coming back for sure!! Try them out before they get huge and there is a long line!
Cheers!

Hidden gem. Lots of sushi places near where I live but after one visit this was my favorite. Freshness was on point with many options beyond just sushi rolls. Highly suggest going on a Friday or Saturday night and sit at the bar to chat with chef Daichi and have a Echigo beer while sampling sushi.

So many compliments and positive things to say, where does one start. We wanted try somewhere new and man are so happy we did. Hi5 sushi is not your average sushi dining experience..it was An adventure.. the unique rolls with amazing flavor and fresh fish that just melted in your mouth. The rolls are huge and priced well for what you are served. The decor is adorable, the staff friendly and amazing. Alissa was the best, with great suggestions, a bubbly personality and great smile. Her positive and fun energy added a much needed touch to our dining experience...especially after a long days work.
So in summary, definitely loved this restraunt and my hubby and I will be back. Unique and amazing flavors, top notch quality cuts of fish and a welcoming environment, makes Hi5 Sushi the place to go for awesome eats, good vibes and a memorable dining experience. *You have to try at least 1 of their specialty rolls, because once you do, you will thank me 😁👍

New favorite sushi spot! As an avid sushi lover, this place is definitely tied with one of my go-to’s, Junn. Hi 5 has very fresh fish and I’ve gone 3 times in the last 2 weeks. In the bowl picture I ordered salmon sake sashimi, yellowtail sashimi, and ahi tuna sashimi, which were all wonderful and not fishy tasting at all. My top 2 orders would be the Sahara rainbow roll and eel nigiri. The Sahara roll is full of flavor and not too spicy at all, though I love spicy food. The eel nigiri (not pictured) was cooked perfectly. It was not chewy or crispy, but soft and extremely tasty. Would highly recommend! (The boat had salmon sake, tuna belly, ahi tuna, and the Sahara rainbow roll. The roll with micro greens is also the Sahara rainbow roll)

Not worth the wait. We were looking forward to trying this new trendy spot. We were welcomed by the chef and invited to sit wherever. Would’ve loved to try the food but we couldn’t get a menu for the first 20 minutes and drinks within the first 26 minutes and the sole server seemed occupied with one table. We attempted to catch the servers attention but we’re unsuccessful. She was friendly enough but very preoccupied with a singular table of friends as opposed the rest of the floor.
Dont know that we’ll be back. There’s a few great places that offer a great atmosphere but can also support helping all customers.
Gave 2 stars as the atmosphere was clean and trendy. We didn’t feel like anyone was mean or rude. Just inattentive.
